I've had three different systems installed in my cars here, and every time Jordan, Mo, and the team have delivered. They're not the cheapest option compared to online pricing, but you're paying for real expertise--and it shows in the quality of the install and overall experience. What really stands out is the follow-up. I've come back with minor issues, and they've always taken care of them on the spot without any hassle. Fair pricing, skilled work, and solid customer service. Definitely a shop I'd recommend if you want it done right. read more

Disappointed. I went here because I used to live literally across the street. Met Jordan and at the time had a CTS that I couldn't install my system from my old truck. Bought a new truck and had the system installed. The wiring for the subs was shady and could've burned my amps. I messed up by leaving my truck. Instead of the correct fuses they used circuit breakers that heated up and offered no protection for my amps. Even now my 300/4 is suspect. Also, my W7 was always in the house, but when I picked my truck up, the surround had mysteriously disintegrated. Had to drop $2k+ for anew one and to have it put in the box! Had my truck rewired at a reputable shop only to find out Universal had cut into my truck body where the factory amp was *dead face* Had the amp moved and every power and ground wiring redone. System can breathe now and actually bump. I trusted Jordan and his peeps and it was my mistake to leave my truck. I'd never do that again. NVR. I won't be going back there because I don't know who worked on and cut into my truck. It's sad because I was trying to help a small shop. read more

Great stereo and installation. Great service. Came in for a stereo and backup camera installation on my sister in laws car and it was done flawlessly. read more

I came off of good reviews. I had to take the car back because the ac didn't work. Now my girlfriend has to take the car back while I'm at work because the volume is stuck and loud in her ears. I'm pissed because this is a birthday gift and she shouldn't have to go back. I would not recommend. Update we have returned and they are refusing a refund. One worker said fuck you to me which I have on film. Another worker starts leaning on my car and talking shit to me in either Ukraine or Russian. Horrible company. Scamming people and since the neighborhood is mainly old this is what they get away with. Very uncomfortable and even when you approach these cats with anger from valid frustration from crappy parts they treat you like it's irrational. Again I came off good reviews, I was lied to. read more

My vehicle audio was not working. Took it here to get it diagnosed and fixed. They told me 3 speakers were blown which was causing the 4th to also not work. And that I had a blown fuse. Quoted me $400 to put 4 of their in stock new speakers in. I told them no I will do the work myself and buy cheap speakers as I'm looking to sell this vehicle. When I purchased the new speakers and installed them only 2 worked meaning it wasn't a speaker issue. Turns out that this shop cut the wires behind my head unit to my speakers and then tried to sell me on needing 4 new speakers. Either they are incompetent or tried to sell me a $400 problem that didn't exist. Fixed the wires and the car audio works perfectly now with the old speakers. Would not recommend. read more

Great work and great price for an install. Only thing is I wish they didn't mount the camera on the license plate frame.

I had installed my own upgrade to my car. I wanted a backup camera and I had it all hooked up but couldn't see any video. I went to Universal so they could install it properly. They looked at it, made a few adjustments and fixed it. They refused to take payment and even gave me a connector to put on it before I tucked it away. I will definitely bring my next project here. Thanks guys! read more

Has to be on one of the best stereo shops in the OC. Took my 1995 4runner here to assist with getting a AMP installed and they did an excellent job for such an excellent price. The owner was very kind and patient with me, he even took the time to make sure everything was installed correctly right after closing. Top notch customer service, I will be back and I definitely recommend this shop to anyone else who needs stereo work. read more

This place was by far the most reasonable option for installing my Alpine ILX-W670 and backup camera in my 2011 Ford Transit Connect. I reached out for a quote through Yelp, and Jordan responded quickly. He gave me a fair price--and actually stuck to it. Other shops quoted me two to three times more, and I half-expected them to try upselling me once I got there. That never happened. While they worked on my van, I walked across the street to Jack in the Box for a couple of hours. When I came back, the install was close to being complete and done right. I'm a naturally skeptical person, but they completely exceeded my expectations. They also carry stereos, speakers, alarms, and more, so I'd definitely come back for future upgrades. Five stars from me--highly recommend! Thanks guys! read more

Everyone here was so nice. From the moment I pulled in, to leaving their driveway an hour later w new speakers, it was a great experience. The owners greeted me and were nothing but helpful and straightforward the whole time. The employees were friendly and conversational. While I was waiting, they showed me the job. The speakers I brought were too large so they offered me a smaller size speakers for $100 or the choice to cut the door panel for $150. I chose to use my own speakers. After watching the employee install the speakers he tested them for me and adjusted the stereo settings, showed me how to adjust the speakers and vacuumed my cab. Before paying, the owner jokingly asked me how much I owe him, he quoted me $150. I gave him $175, took them exactly 1.5 hrs but they could have done it quicker if I wasn't chatty. I was very happy with my experience here, I will be recommending them to anyone I know that needs their kind of work. read more

These guys are knowledgeable, and know what they're doing. They sell all the major brands at a good price, and will bend over backwards to make sure things are done right. Unlike big box stores like Best Buy, the service is personalized, and if there are any tweaks, adjustments or fixes needed after installation, they take care of it, often right on the spot. Ask for Jordan the owner, and he will take care of you. read more

Background On Visit: For the longest time, I always wanted a dash cam ever since my last major car accident 2 years ago. Last weekend, I finally invested in a dash cam. What Was Done: Had a Acumen Xr10 4K dash cam installed on my rear view mirror and a backup camera that came with it. Pricing: Pricing was great. I found them a bit cheaper than the other places that I was looking into for the dash cam with install Service: Jordan (owner) and his staffers were very attentive, friendly, and offered great suggestions. Took less than 3 hours to finish. After the job was done, Mikey and Jordan did a thorough walk through on the newly installed dash cam. Univeral Car Stereo For Thought: Jordan and his team did a wonderful job on the install on my dash cam. Wouldn't mind continuing to go to them for any other installations. read more

I wanted to install a dashcam (Front & rear) and hardwire it to my car (a Mazda 3 Hatchback). Thru Yelp, I requested for some quotes, and Jordan (Universal Car Stereo) was very responsive, and also offered me a discount upon knowing that I already have my own hardwire kit. I took upon the offer, and drove myself to Universal Car Stereo with my dashcam kit. Jordan and Mo were very welcoming, and super friendly. Fun to talk with, Mo immediately started working on the task at hand, answering any of my questions as necessary. They installed the camera, were very helpful, also have offered me a lifetime! warranty on the labor for the dashcam installation. All of this, Mo & Jordan finished the task in an hour and half! I really liked the overall service, and the quality of the work, and just the overall friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone trying to install aftermarket stereo/ dashcams! ~ Anuj read more

Bought an Acumen M4 mirror dash cam with back up view for my 2014 Hyundai which they installed. It totally saved us in less than two weeks when in an accident police could replay the recording! I highly recommend Universal Car Stereo. They also troubleshooted a problem early on and worked well on our behalf with the manufacturer. Great at showing you how to use the system and Acumen app. They help you even after the sale! read more

I have a car that is renowned to be a pain to change the stereo out in. I took it to another place and they wouldn't touch it. Jordan and his crew did a stellar job. They really had to work at it. I really enjoyed doing business with Universal car stereo! First and foremost they were very straightforward and easy to work with. Everything that they promised, they delivered and they did it in such a kindly manner. Both Mo and Jordan are very friendly and easy people to work with, Everything above board and they deliver on what they promise. I drove way out of my way because I was so impressed with the service that they gave me initially over the phone - and I was doubly happy with their performance and installation. They installed a digital rear view mirror, rate was good, kind and punctual BUT they set the camera unbalanced and view on the monitor shows crooked and uneven. This is affecting the view as well as ADA & BSD settings and it detects the wrong angle of the vehicles that are coming or near my car. Now I am an hour and a half driving away and slightly disappointed. read more

The staff at Universal were awesome. They did a great job putting in my rear camera and take going out why my stereo wasn't working properly. The coolest thing is that the owner, even though I was already done and ready to go, really wanted me too understand how everything worked. Before I left he sat down with me in the cab of my van, and went through each thing. He changed the time, set everything up, and make sure I understood it. Excellent customer service. I plan on taking my truck there and having the same procedure done. I definitely would trust them with anything related to stereos and cameras. read more

2009 Corvette hard top stereo install: I shopped around my area based on Yelp review and pricing. This shop troubleshoots installs which is a big plus to me. Pricing was a complete match up with crutchfield .com since i already had in mind which components i wanted. My setup was aimed more for Sound Quality than Sound Pressure Levels(loudness bro! ). 2 kids, a happy wife and almost 40 without trunk space is not my thing anymore. I would like to keep whats left of my ear drums and refuse to share what i'm listening to with my neighbor's neighbor. Here is a list of what i got: Powered subwoofer: kicker 46HS10 Component speakers: JL Audio C2650 Amplifier: JL AUDIO RD400 Head unit: Kenwood DNX9990 Center speaker: stock(weird one in the middle which most c6 owners remove, Jordan somehow made it blend with the rest of the setup. Which is amazing) Rear speakers: stock Old setup: non bose system(sounds like a squirrel screaming in a tin can. thats why i decided to upgrade lol!) I bought the JL speakers, JL sub, and kicker powered amp from Jordon with price match. So if u want lifetime warranty on labor, 1 year warranty on all parts installed, competitive pricing, install and troubleshootIng . Universal car stereo would be one of those rare places that you can go and check out. read more

Jordan and his team are my dudes. They know what they're talking about and do some great work. I don't think Jordan is physically capable of stopping himself from teaching you about audio; this guy is passionate about sound and is a knowledge gold mine of his trade. The install process took 2 days, followed by a break-in period, and then a re-tune. I am floored by the quality of sound coming from my notoriously horrible Subaru head unit. There were some things that went bad during the install like a loose 12v outlet and a broken glove box arm but as soon as I called, they made sure to fix EVERYTHING. I can't think of a reason not to recommend them. No need to look further, they'll take care of you. read more

I bought a van at an auction and while it had a cd player..it had no sirius xm or back up camera. I went to a different shop who quoted me over 800 just for a whole new stereo system. These guys did the whole shebang including back up camera and a new port for phone charging 700.00 out the door. No appointment, nothing! Idk if I'm going to love the whole touch screen thing because I'm old . I prefer knobs to tune in my favorite on air station of 88.1. I'll mess around getting the stations and stuff programmed in tomorrow. The system let's you talk hands free and even let's the passenger watch videos! It's a Kenwood system, which I know of old so I'm finally moving into the modern age. But I'm not giving up my CDs. The guys were nice, fast, did extra stuff...I feel I got a deal. read more

Don't hesitate to come here. I am a former car audio enthusiast so I know a bit about the trade, and I can tell everyone here is a true pro. I had a head unit and backup camera installed in a 2003 4Runner. They did an amazing job with a level of care and attention to detail that's far beyond a normal shop. They supplied extra wires/parts at no cost and they kept the original quote despite the work being harder than initially anticipated. Got apple CarPlay installed for my girlfriend's 2011 Honda Accord. The guys here were friendly and patient. The unit works well and does what it needs to do. However, the installation is not perfect. The air condition knob is tough to turn, and a/c buttons get stuck. Maybe we did get a cheap unit, but the display is extremely bright at night. Also, the phone call audio is extremely staticky so she has to put it on speaker. Either way, the unit works for directions and Apple Music. These guys have the cheapest prices in town, the unit and installation was under $500. read more

I paid a thousand bucks for a stereo and back up camera. I chose the stereo with a CD player because I had a phone stand that used it. They asked if I wanted to be able to use my steering wheel volume controls for an extra 100 bucks. I said no, I can control the volume from the actual stereo. I didn't know that NONE of my steering wheel controls would work. So now I can't reset my maintenance required warning...ever again. They installed a stereo that has an internal mic that is so bad I can't use it to make calls anymore. The backup camera is crappy and is worn down after less than a year. Once a hot day rolled around, the cd tray melted with the pressure from my phone stand. I called them, they were soliton orientated. I brought it in, they replaced my stereo because of the melted cd area. But my mic still is unusable and they didn't have the part necessary to make my steering wheel controls work. They said they would call me when they got the part in but never received the call. I moved to Texas and now stuck with a "maintenance required" message, a microphone that is so bad I can't use the phone without plugging it in, and a cheap backup camera all for a grand.... read more
