If I could give negative stars, I would. Do not risk your hair. You can see my terrible dye job in the provided pictures. It's patchy, fried, and the wrong colour. I'll also include the image I gave as reference for the colour I wanted. Story Time: The first time I ever decided to get my hair bleached professionally, it was botched here. I have brown hair. On the darker side. I wanted to bleach my hair gradually to eventually achieve a mint colour. I came out with lime green, half-dyed, severely damaged hair. I went in with a friend and a reference picture, I was informed that because of my dark colour that it would take multiple bleaching treatments to achieve. I understood this, I told the stylist as much. I did not by ANY means expect to walk out with the mint colour that day. She quoted me around $150. We go ahead with the bleaching. It takes almost three hours. My scalp was burning to the point I was almost in tears, but when I said as much she told me that was perfectly normal. By the time she took the bleach out, my hair was frizzy and breaking and a lovely shade of orange. She decides it's light enough after all to go mint and applies the dye. I wasn't a professional, I thought maybe somehow it would be okay. She applied zero treatment to my hair after the harsh bleaching and gave me the entirely wrong colour. I sucked it up thinking maybe it wouldn't be so bad when I looked at it in different lighting. It wasn't. My parent went off when she saw the state of my hair and the price tag on the shit dye job. I was charged double what I was quoted. I was busy that day and embarrassed by the state of my hair and how I was swindled, I called back in the following days for a refund. I wanted a refund and that was it, I didn't want them touching my hair anymore. I was told over phone that refunds would be settled only in person and with the individual store. I went in to the store for a refund, they said they had a no-refund policy and would only touch up my hair. I wanted none of that, so they tossed me back to trying to get a refund from their head. I called them again without any response until I received a voicemail about how the reason my hair ended up like it did. Which apparently was because they ran out beforehand of the dye needed and didn't think to tell me as much. If true, this was extremely unprofessional. But also. Seeing as how my hair was a dark orange, it was not at all remotely light enough to have become the correct colour and shouldn't have been dyed that day at all. A few days after that I received another voicemail saying that they were confused as to why I was dissatisfied, and that they thought everything was well because my mom had been present when my hair was dyed and she said it was great. A lie. My mother wasn't present up until she came to pick myself and my younger friend up, the one who had accompanied me to and during the appointment they dyed my hair. So they mistook someone who identified themselves as my friend at the start of the appointment, was baby-faced and only 15 years of age as my mother. If that wasn't enough, my actual mother hated the colour and chewed them out that day, she was by no means happy as they claimed she was. They lied and they knew it, because she had spoken to the manager and the stylist as my mother. I tried calling them to confront them yet again and ended up at a dead end. They finally just stopped answering me. I tried one last time to go to the store in-person, but with my father as well so as to not be swindled again. (I was 16 and a pushover). They refused to give me any kind of refund, banned my father from the store despite speaking peacefully and "escorted" (he left on his own with them following behind several feet to be sure he stayed away) him out via security for disturbing patrons. His "disturbance" was letting people know from outside the store what happened to me and showing off my terrible hair, discouraging others from getting their hair done there. read more

She's super friendly, professional, and very good for both particular clients (eg: "I want exactly this look and colour") and open-minded ones ("I'm not sure, do whatever you think is best!") She has transformed my brassy damaged box colour hair to a nice ashy blonde with brown low lights, the regrowth always looks natural and nice, and she's knowledgeable about products and hair care that maintain the salon look without ever being pushy. She also does my eldest daughters hair, and her hair always gets compliments from people and she feels so confident after seeing Nancy. 10/10 stars! read more

I am never going back here. I made the mistake of buying their membership card so I felt obligated to go to Spasation whenever I needed a haircut, waxing, manicure, pedicure, massage etc. The card is NOT worth it. I'm sure I still have points but maybe they expired with the membership I don't even care to find out. Anyhow, I made a last minute hair appointment through their website for this location because they had the space available - or so they said. I showed up 10-15 minutes early for my appointment, checked in at the desk, took a seat, then watched the drama unfold. Apparently whomever was scheduled to cut my hair had planned to get out of there early and was livid that she was expected to cut my hair. She literally threw a tantrum with me sitting there. When she was through venting to the receptionist, she came over and said there was some stuff they needed to sort out and asked if maybe I'd like to go shop around the mall for like 15-20 minutes. I agreed and went to Coles and bought a book. When I returned, she'd talked someone else into cutting my hair so long as she did the shampooing. Fine. She was still rather high strung and chatting wildly with the other employees. When I sat in the chair to get my hair cut, the replacement was pleasant enough. Long story short, the person who originally was supposed to cut my hair kept pestering the girl she got to take over for her. She was borrowing her cell phone, talking about closing chores, bitching about a boyfriend, you name it. I didn't get the greatest haircut as a result. It was a bit shorter than I'd asked and wasn't exactly according to plan. I've had worse and it wasn't a total embarrassment, the haircut was passable, just not great. I visited Spasation, because I need a flat iron. I got an annoying haircut that only looks good, when my hair is super straight. They had some of the really good flat irons, like the popular Chi, but these are over a hundred dollars, and that is just too much money for me right now. They had a cool travel-sized one that cost $50, and it had a zebra-striped pattern all over it. It was kind of cool, but I know I can get one at Chrome salon for $40, because I got a coupon from the Women's Show. I want to come back to Spasation for a massage though. I need one--badly. Going to Spasation was undoubtedly the worst business experience I have ever had - the staff were incompetent, unprofessional and they completely ripped us off. I tell everyone I know NEVER to go here under any circumstance. My sister and I booked two bridal updos for Dec 23. We also scheduled two trials three days before the wedding. There were several problems with our trial appointment: 1. Our punctuality was not respected. We arrived a few minutes before 5 pm for our trials. The receptionist informed us that we would have to wait for 20 minutes. Although frustrated since we rushed to be at our appointment on time, we accepted this inconvenience. 2. Our stylist lacked experience and competence. After waiting, a stylist saw me and played with my hair for about 15 to 20 minutes. She seemed a bit lost and eventually said she had to look at a book. She returned with the receptionist a few minutes later. 3. The receptionist cancelled one of our appointments unapologetically. The receptionist informed us that only one of the stylists we were booked with was capable of working with our texture of hair and that no other capable stylist would be available the day of the wedding. This was completely ridiculous; no other salon has ever commented on the "texture" of our hair. As well, if "texture" is an issue, customers should be asked to describe their hair at the time of booking. Despite these issues, my sister and I asked the receptionist if the capable stylist could do both of our updos. The receptionist said it was possible, but that each session would take an hour and a half. This was not satisfactory due to time constraints. However, on such short notice, we felt we had no choice but to wait for the second stylist. We were made to wait until past 6 pm for second stylist even though we had her booked for over an hour earlier (5 pm). 4. We received rushed and mediocre service. The second stylist worked on my hair for the next half hour. We asked if she would be able to do both updos on the Saturday within our timeframe, to which she answered "we'll have to". She seemed ready to leave, so I also asked her to spend a few minutes on my sister's hair so that there would be no additional surprises due to "texture" on the wedding day. The stylist seemed rushed, but agreed. She spent about 5 minutes pinning up the hair before stating that a trial was unnecessary (the effort was so insignificant and shoddy that the hair abruptly fell out as we left the salon). We accepted her response at this point, as we were simply relieved that she would be able to do both our updos. 5. The bill was exorbitant relative to the service. The stylist brought us up to the front counter and asked the receptionist if payment was necessary. The receptionist said it was required so the stylist left us at the counter. The receptionist went on to bill us approximately $127 (two updos at full price: $60 each, plus GST). We were in shock partly because of the slow and unprofessional service but mainly due to the minimal time and effort spent on us (30 minutes for myself, 5 minutes for my sister). We explained the situation to the receptionist, who replied that "some stylists work faster than others" and rather rudely stated she would offer nothing more than a 10% discount. The bill was not reflective of the service. A maximum of 40 minutes of time, combined with poor service and major inconveniences, was billed the same way as 3 hours of time quoted by the receptionist. 6. We felt that we were not heard. When we asked to speak to the manager, the receptionist informed us that she was the general manager. She insisted we pay $114.48. Unsure of what we could do, we reluctantly paid the bill with the hopes of a later chance at recourse. Out in the mall, we spotted our stylist on her break. Informing her of the cost, she was shocked but averse to take any action. She did not wish to speak to the manager and suggested I call the main Spasation phone number and file a complaint. I asked her again to just inform the manager of the lack of time and effort she put in. She somewhat timidly approached the manager, but to no avail. The situation was so upsetting and combined with the mediocre work of the stylist we felt we could not return to the salon for the wedding day. This has been without a doubt, the worst retail experience we have ever had. Not only did we waste 2 hours of time, but were forced to book two new appointments elsewhere. Despite this inconvenience and stress, we paid an exorbitant amount of money in return for next to nothing. To pay for one full updo was distressing given the poor service and lack of professionalism. To pay for two was an abomination. If the receptionist was in fact the general manager, her treatment of us was completely inappropriate This experience was not recent, however it was such a terrible experience I felt a need to warn others. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. I went here to get shadow roots done. I wish I could remember her name and suggest never to go to her. She gave me only a few blonde streaks. Half my hair was brunette and the bottom half bleach. The streams were orange in colour. I was mortified. And she was happy with her work..... not to mention when we were discussing what I wanted, she told me " oh you have a hard time sitting still.". I replied with "yah, I have Tourette's." This is an excerpt from the letter I sent the corporation following my TERRIBLE experience at their Kingsway salon. I sent photos before I removed the polish. They responded right away and said that the salon would contact me directly. They never did. I suggested to my daughter that we go and have a manicure and get pampered. She went online and booked herself a "French Polish Application" and for me, a "French Polish Manicure". At work, we give your certificates as gifts all the time so I was very excited to have a professional hand/arm massage and manicure. I had recently done my own french nails with cheap ($9.97) stuff from Walmart and people loved it. I could not wait to have it REALLY done! We arrived at 4:30, July 7 at Kingsway. The "manicurist" (did not get her name, no name tag) told me that she did not like doing french nails and that she was not very good at it. This worried me but I assumed she was being self-deprecating and waited to see how a manicure was done. She said she had been doing this work for three years?! After soaking my hands she said that she was not going to trim the nails, just shape them (even though they were wildly differing in length). She was concerned about there being no parrafin, but Stephanie (the one working on my daughter) said she was not supposed to use it anyway. She then put lotion on my hands and forearms and then the OPI base coat. After 4 attempted methods of opening the French White which was dried shut, she began to apply it to the ends of the nails. The bottle was nearly empty (as she said to Stephanie) and the polish was gloppy. It did not go on well. I was worried. After she spoke with her son, Brandon, she returned her attention to my nails with a Q-tip soaked in nail polish remover. This "swab" was meant to clean up the lines on the inner aspect of the French White, I think. Needless to say it was not effective. She asked me what I thought.....I was speechless. There was no way she had the skill to fix this mess, and I just wanted to leave, so I said "you tell me". She shrugged, brushed on a top coat and pronounced it finished. The French White is different lengths, thicknesses, and shapes. There are no two nails alike, and does not even cover the white of my own nails. The thickness of the white on the thumbnail was such that it took hours to cure properly and had a huge chunk out of the polish by the time I got to the parking lot. She did not use aerosol to set the nails. While my manicure was $45.00 and my daughter's application was $20.00 I was finished nearly 10 minutes before her?? I purchased the base/top coat so that I could go home and do my nails again. I could not wait to get it off. RESPONSE: Dear ***, I would like to start by saying that I sincerely apologize for your disappointment in the service you received yesterday at the Kingsway location. Usually the quality of services offered at that location exceed Spasation's standards, however this does not demean your complaint whatsoever. What I will do is forward all of the information you provided to the manager of the Kingsway location, and she will be giving you a call back to discuss what can be done for you. Oh where to begin? First they booked clients in with stylists that were not even working that day. One stylist came in 30 minutes late for work, kept her client waiting the whole time and was dressed like she had come straight from the bar. The manager and the owner refused to honor the 50 % off offer that was tagged on their shelf for shampoo. They claimed they would not honor it, because they didn't know about it. This is by far the WORST place I have ever gone to have my eyebrows done. I told the lady I didn't want them very dark, just the colour of my hair (which is light red) and didn't want the shape changed. She left the dye on for WAY too long and I even asked her about the length and she said it had to stay on longer. She waxed the bottom of my brow and RIPPED the skin off my eye lids. On May 24/10 I decided to go to Spasation in Kingsway to get a haircut. I decided to go to them because I heard they were good and they were renown for giving decent haircuts. Their prices for a woman's cut is $40-45$. It seemed pretty busy in there and I had asked them if they would be willing to do my hair. They agreed and had me seated down within 5-10 minutes. The male "hairstylist" who cut my hair was short with a deep voice and had strong features for his face. He looked like he was is his late 40s. During the entire time he decided to look at and talk to everyone but me.When washing my hair he was rough, pulling down on my hair and my neck and was scrubbing it ruthlessly like it was a mop. It like he was trying to scrub my hair off my scalp. Water and soap went in my eyes, all over my face, in my ears, down my shirt, everywhere. He patted my hair dry and walked over to his station and told me to sit down, upon doing so he went behind me and started to forcefully run his fingers through my hair. My hair was long and had knots in them from him washing it. It felt like he was clawing the back of my neck as he was trying to unknot my hair (aka rip out the knots) using his sausagey fingers. I could hear my hair snapping from the force. He then turned around with his back facing me and grabbed some mousse, applying the foamy orange product to my hair. After telling him the length of hair I wanted to keep he got me to stand up a few inches away from the chair and started cutting small sections before having me sit down again. As he held my hair between his index and middle finger he would hold the scissors openly and just pull the scissors through the hair. Instead of having my hair evenly distributed between his fingers majority of it would end up near the tips of his fingers. I don't know about if thats the right technique for cutting hair but it seriously seemed like he was pretending that my hair was a fly and his scissors a fly swatter. He was finished with cutting my hair after 15 minutes and had proceeded to dry it with a blow dryer. The heat on the blow dryer was on max and between talking to everyone and anyone else, he held the blow dryer 2 inches away from my scalp and had held it there for at least 3-5 seconds. He would then move his hand and repeat what he just did, sometimes shaking the blow dryer left and right twice then stop in the same location where it originally was. This resulted in several burnt spots and loss of feeling in those locations. I eventually got fed up with him and his poor attention span that I leaned forward to avoid getting burnt more. He noticed. "Oh..is that too hot for you?" he asked. I nodded yes and stared at him because I was really mad but didn't want to say anything. "Oh. Sorry." he said apathetically. He lowered the temperature on the blow dryer and grabbed a round comb. He then combed my hair and half my face as he was watching and talking to another hairstylist. Placing down the things he was holding, he then asked "How do you like it?". I'm going to have to admit...I like my haircut because it was something I wanted. I WANTED a haircut. And I GOT a haircut. Am I satisfied with Spasation's services and workers? No, not at all. I'm appalled with their services, workers and treatment towards their customers. I would rather cut my own hair and screw up on it then go back to them. At least then I'd know that I wasn't treated like dirt and pay someone $42 which I felt they didn't deserve. Out of all the hairsalons I have been to this is the WORST place I have gone to. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Who knew Spasation had trolls that did people's hair. =) P.S I was too afraid to ask him to cut bangs for me so I only got my hair half done. I don't know what it looks like because I can't see the back of my head so I'm going to ask my previous hairstylist to check it out next time I go for a haircut. Hope this helps! ^^ read more

I walked in with hair down to my belly button asking for a trim and to thin out my hair and specifically said I don't want to lose any length. The girl chopped off so much hair and its now at my shoulders. The cut is so uneven and she cut it straight across (which doesn't work in really thick hair). I went to buy a shampoo and a conditioner made by Tea Tree and I was shown a conditioner which looked like some content had been leaked from the top, but I was assured that the bottle is fine and I bought it along with the shampoo for $53. After leaving the store I found out that the same combo is available at another store for $51 and both the shampoo and the conditioner were of new stock and the bottles looked different. I showed the lady at the second store the conditioner that I bought from SpaSation and I was told that it's the old stock ergo the bottles look different, and at the same time I realized that the pump in the conditioner is broken. When I went back to SpaSation to ask for a refund, I was told that they do not give refunds and the sales clerk simply changed the pump from a different bottle, which had a different scent than the one I bought. I was told repeatedly that they do not refunds, though I was not told so during time of the purchase. I was not at all satisfied with the service and had to exchange it for two smaller bottles from the new stock. read more

I actually visited the Londonderry Mall and it was horrible! I had received a gift certificate for a 60min massage and pedicure and it was about to expire in a month. It was xmas time and they had extended hours so I talked to the receptionist that day and made an appointment for later that night. I had also decided that I would prefer a manicure and just a back and neck massage and the receptionist informed me that I would have about $20 dollars worth of credit and that I could just purchase any product at the end of my session. I show up for my session and the massage was horrible it left me oily and in quite amount of pain that night. The nail polish was peeling off after I left. After my session there was a new receptionist who rang up my sale and told me that I actually owed $20. I told her that I was informed that I would have an extra $20 off of the gift certificate and she just proceeded to insist that I pay. I pay the extra money and came back the next day ( i worked in the mall) and inquired about it again with the receptionist that had originally made my appointment. She was helpful and apologetic and said she would call a manager and refund my money. I received the $40. The next day I receive a call from their manager accusing my of stealing from the store and that i should come back and return my refund. He proceeded to tell me that the individual who bought the gift certificate had also received a discount on that purchase so I would've owed even more money. He then proceeded to tell me that since I altered my choices of services and that the prices had increased since the purchase of the gift certificate I should not have really gotten the extra $20 since once i change the services it goes by the most current price. I was shocked to have a manager call me back and accuse me of stealing when I was not informed of the price change and there was no dollar amount on the certificate itself. I had checked and there was still about $20 difference between a pedicure and manicure price. As a former manager myself I never call back customers when it is my sale associates that have made a mistake.
