I saw a Groupon for a set from All Dolled Up and thought I'd give them a try. I arrived at my appointment about 20 min early (wasn't sure where I was going, so wanted to give lots of time). The business is out of her home in a townhouse in Millwoods. I called the number to double check I had the right place, and there was no answer. Figured I'd ring the doorbell and find out. Nicole answered and first thing she said is "you're really early". Yea I was about 20 min early but most salons require you to be 15 min early. She seemed mildly annoyed and commented she was just having breakfast, so I offered to wait in my car. She said no, that I can wait upstairs while she got her breakfast and items ready. She also made a comment that working out of her home, when clients arrive early, she doesn't get a break. Ya, ok, I was early, I get it. I was trying to be respectful. You CHOOSE to work out of your home. Leave more time between appointments then. Gah! Ok, vent over. She led me to a starkly decorated room to wait. Table for me to lay on, side table, and a chair for her. I was expecting a little more ambiance, but as long as she does a good job, ultimately that's what matters, right? The experience? Terrible. Now, being a newb to eyelash extensions, I'm not sure if this is a normal experience, as I have nothing to compare it to. But I would describe it as mild torture. Nicole said that some people fall asleep, as you have to lay there for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. There is NO WAY I could've fallen asleep. Ever. It was so uncomfortable - this part of the experience could just be that it's not for me, and have nothing to do with Nicole. I did ask her to readjust my one eye tape, as it felt like my actual eyeball had tape in it and was watering. I realize taping your eyes is a necessary step to getting extensions, but wonder if there was something she could've done to make me more comfortable? She never asked if I was ok. Again, nothing to compare it to, so unsure. The results? They're nice. Very natural looking, like what I wanted - doesn't look like spiders on my eyes. Just looks like I'm wearing mascara. I actually expected a little more "wow" factor, but that could be a different type of lash? I did ask for natural, and that's what I got. Would I come back again? Undecided. It's only been a day, so the tape torture is still fresh in my mind. If I do decide to get them filled, I will probably go elsewhere, just so I have another experience to compare it to. If Nicole was a little warmer and more welcoming to me as a new client, and didn't make me feel bad for showing up early, I might have a difference answer.

Astrid was super quick to answer emails and questions, and put me at ease as soon as I met her. I did a trial run in her home studio and it was so much fun! She really listened to what I wanted and I didn't feel at all uncomfortable making suggestions and changes along the way as she did my makeup. On my wedding day she did an incredible job, I felt perfectly polished, and my makeup lasted well beyond twelve hours. We all felt that Astrid was totally dedicated to making us feel beautiful and comfortable in our makeup, and everyone looked lovely the whole day. She was a delight, and I hope I have some other fancy event in the future so I can ask her to do my makeup again!

She took the time to listen to my wants and needs. She offered choices and together, with her expert guidance, Renee cut and colored my hair. I felt comfortable to ask for some small changes at the end of the cut (wanted it a bit shorter) and Renee delivered without question. I have never had great hair (fine and thin and straight) but I felt great leaving the appointment. She also helped me to pick out some product without pushing a sale upon me. I look forward to my next visit to Chatters and Renee.

I had hair down to my butt and i wanted layers with thinned out ends (because i don't like blunt…read moreends) and 1-1.5 inch off. It was cut very nicely and styled great but now my hair is just below my shoulder blades when i did not ask for that at all. I have had many haircuts/trims with my long hair and it was never a problem but only until i asked for layers, my 3 years of growth is gone. I feel like if someone with long hair comes in and what they want sounds like a huge cut to the stylist, they should say that because i had no idea that simple layers meant chopping off a good 6-7 inches of hair.

Front counter staff are the first and last point of contact at an establishment like a hair salon -…read morewhich is exactly why it is CRUCIAL for these staff to be properly trained on how to handle unusual/difficult customer service situations. I find all too often that front counter staff are pretty good at handling the day to day customer service interactions - throw a curve ball at them though, and, more often than not, they completely drop the ball!!! I am currently growing out my hair and only require a trim and some touch ups every 2 months or so. Since I absolutely love the more dramatic cuts and colourings I have received at Roxx, I didn't mind too much coughing up the $65 bucks for a trim to support a business who had been good to me thus far, so after procrastinating for way too long, I decided it was time for a trim. On Friday morning I call them up to book an appointment for 4:45pm that day. I work literally across the street from this place; so by the time I left work at 4:30 and got to Roxx it was 4:32. I checked in (even mentioning that I knew I was a bit early) and then proceeded to take a seat (on the couch right in front of the front counter). At about 4:45 or so, another lady walks in to check in for her appointment. Immediately after she checked in, the stylist I ALWAYS am assigned to comes out, immediately recognizes the woman, and takes her to the back for her appointment. Thinking nothing more of it than it being interesting that I wasn't getting the same stylist as normal, I continued to wait. At 4:55pm (10 mins past my appointment time), I go up to the front counter staff to ask what the delay was - again keeping in mind I am sitting right in front of their faces so it's not like they didn't know I was STILL WAITING! My question "soooo, is the stylist just running a little behind or.....?" took the young lady completely off guard as she immediately agrees with my assumption with a look of bewilderment on her face; "oh yes, just a bit late, shouldn't be more than another 5 mins." I go back to sit, as the same lady walks past me saying "you know what, I am just going to check." She comes back to tell me that it is going to be another 15 20 mins (keeping in mind it is already 15 minutes past my time). At this point it was quite obvious that someone had screwed up somewhere along the line and the appointment scheduled for after me was taken before me. This is not the problem - these things happen and I can understand that (being that I have worked in customer service my entire career so far). The problem is that I am now completely frustrated that you had wasted my time when I would have loved to be anywhere but there on a sunny Friday afternoon. An apology is nice, and she really did seem to feel bad. But here's where it all went wrong: Her: "Would you like to wait?" Me: "No, I think I'm just going to cancel" Her: Ok, would you like to re-book?" Me: "No thank you" Her: "Ok, well sorry about that." Since I am not one to make a scene in these types of situations, I am quietly thinking 'Dammit, now I need to find a new hair salon." Had the nice young lady come clean, told me that they had made mistake, and had she done something to make up for it (discount, no charge for the wash, anything......), I would have said, "yes, I'll wait" or "sure, I guess I'll just re-book for next week." Instead, I will likely not be back. We have all heard the saying that actions speak louder than words; in this case, (im)proper customer service training speaks louder than a fancily decorated salon.

Didn't bother me but I could see it being bothersome. She offered me a drink while I waited, which I assumed would have been complimentary, which I appreciated. I will say for twenty one dollars, it was a bit pricy for what I got, otherwise I would have given more stars. At that price I could have gone to a specialty place for not much more. I feel she would have cut my hair the same if I was ten years old or seventy and although it was all adequate, it was nothing to write home about.
