This place has a check-in perk for anyone interested!…read more I've always driven by this place but never had a chance to try it. I really wanted to get a haircut right before the lockdown. I messaged Alicia on Instagram and thankfully, she was able to fit me in. The salon itself is quite beautiful! I think she did an amazing job! I chopped off like 4 inches of hair and it was a big change but I honestly love my hair. Too bad I have nowhere to go! But it is a lot more manageable now. I also chopped off a lot of old dead hair that was coloured back in 2019. Thankfully it's all gone! I'll definitely come back for cuts with Alicia I think she did an awesome job! Also, the prices are reasonable. I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg!

I had confirmed an…read moreappointment previously in the week but the day of, 30 minutes before the appointment I was called and asked if it would be okay to either bump the appointment 40 minutes later or reschedule for another week. Went with the 40 minute bump. I had gotten there for the rescheduled time and the stylist I had been booked with was still working with a client with her wet hair. Bummed out, I waited another half hour for the lady to finish up, which was especially bad since the client was being fussy and too chatty. Finally I was taken in and the hairdresser was clearly stressed. I showed her the color I wanted with several examples and was explaining to her why I wanted a keratin treatment for that extra gloss and healthy ends. She somehow talked me out of the keratin treatment and suggested a gloss toner treatment. I knew this was just a tactic for a treatment less time consuming for her. Took her forever to mix the color and she had to go back a second time to go mix up some more for me. When she did the gloss I could hear the empty bottle putting out so little into my hair. I expected her to go grab a new one but she didnt and just pretended everything was fine. Every single time I was under the hair cure helmut it was WAY TOO HOT and being a little shy I just pushed through the pain but was worried about burns. Finally when the lady blow dried my hair she was SO ROUGH with the brush and went from the top down forcefully with the brush. I could hear my hair breaking and this was heartbreaking since I like to take care of my hair gently. When it was dry I could see it wasn't right or close to what I wanted. It was a dark brown but it was way more neutral/green undertone rather than the chocolate I wanted. Disappointed, I just went with it. I was too tired from my full day of classes to ask for revisions. At the end of it all the price was close to 300 dollars with a mediocre tip included. I knew that this was a nice salon and that comes with a pricetag but this was much more than what their online pricing breakdown was or how much i got for the color quote. I left disappointed and defeated. The color lasted like 2 months?? Another disappointment. I forgotten about my bad time I had here until I went to get my hair done at a different place recently and the stylist asked about my previous experiences.

When I lived in Edmonton in the 90s, I found Hairisma in 1992, and it was the only place I went for the final four years I lived there. Even if I knew I was visiting, I waited to cut my hair until I visited and booked a haircut here. The stylists here are pretty busy because they have a lot of clients so it's good to book in advance and not just walk in. They are excellent at what they do, and I remember them getting my cuts right every single time. Believe it or not, several of the gals I went to in 1992 are still cutting hair here. That's longevity! They also use Aveda products so quality is tops for what they are putting in your hair. Randomly thought of this place the other day while talking to my parents who are also longtime-loyal clients at Hairisma. This will probably be the only review I write for a salon, but it's an excellent one!

It's very unfortunate that my second review is quite different then my first review…read more After I had a good experience with them I decided to go back to get a lash lift/lash perm and to use their apprentice tech to try out the services at a lower price. Unfortunately though I never got that far. I initially tried to book back in July/August but the availability was very limited (I was looking for evenings or weekends due to work schedule). I managed to make an appointment only to have it cancelled the day after I made it due to scheduling error. The receptionist then said she would call me back with an available time which never happened. I never ended up getting that phone call so I went somewhere else. I decided to give them another try and called them last week for the same appointment. The exact issue happened again....they couldn't find an available spot and said they would call me back. 5 days go by and no phone call but this time I decide to call them to follow up. The receptionist then begins to tell me that the staff that observes the apprentice has gone on maternity leave and can't get ahold of her to book the appointment. So after some back and forth finally I asked "does that mean that your no longer offering there services?" to which she says "yeah I guess." It was a struggle for me to get a straight answer from her. If they can't offer services they should inform the customer or at least not promise to call them and not follow through with it. The services they offer were good when I went but unfortunately I can't say the same thing for their customer services related to booking or follow through.

I'd been to Posh a few times prior and although I wasn't super happy, it was the only place I could get in with hardly any notice. The girl did take the time to ask questions about the look I was going for. One thing I stressed was that in my last appointment I had a volume set (and paid way too much for it) and that I didn't want that again. This time, I was looking for a more natural look - hence the hybrid. She asked if the length was ok in the past, I agreed it wasn't too bad. I stressed I felt like the volume set was just too thick and a little too "young" for my age. At the beginning she did mention some of girls have started their fall shed so I can expect the same. She was giving lengthy explanations of what she was doing and reiterated she prefers I tell her if something wasn't right rather than not saying anything. She began the work but at the end when I held the mirror up I was so very disappointed. It looked exactly like she took a fake set out of the package at the local drug store and glued the strip to my eyelids. Horrible! That's not natural. They were so curled it looked like the tips were attached to my eyelids as well. That's not natural. They looked like they were perfectly cut across the top with a pair of scissors. That's not natural either. There were zero lashes in the corners. That's not natThey were so thick and dark and stiff and they almost looked blue in the sunlight. I immediately told her I didn't like them at all (remembering she'd prefer to hear that) Instead of listening to me, she got very defensive and kept holding up a piece of paper saying they did this length last time. Always something about last time. Again, I wanted a natural look therefore a hybrid because I didn't want it to look like last time. I kept giving very valid reasons why I didn't like them. She simply said do you want me to take them off for you? I had another appointment after and declined. It was very evident of my dissatisfaction but she didn't care. I paid the $183.75 and when paying she came over and offered to remove them and lucky me, she wasn't even going to charge me! I don't think I should have paid for them at all. If she's only going to refer to a piece of paper and negate everything I say, then why bother asking questions? After leaving, I sat in my vehicle and cancelled my next appointment. Called my old lash business I went to for years (quit going cause it was too far after I moved) and explained my situation and my lash expert I had been going to for 5 years made some arrangements to book me in the next day. I immediately went back into Posh - less than 5 minutes later and told the girl I wanted the lashes removed. I was embarrassed leaving with them. All of a sudden she wasn't available to remove them. Someone else did it and I couldn't get them off quick enough. Never again! Just because you give lengthy explanations doesn't make you an expert. And acting defensive when a customer isn't happy doesn't make you a professional. UPDATE - I just read the owners review and am very disappointed to see it's full of inaccuracies and lies. I was NEVER told the lashes were going to be a repeat of what was done in the past. Not once. I was asked if I was pleased with the length, I recalled I probably was. There was absolutely ZERO discussion about curl, extra fullness or any of the the other claims made by the owner. Furthermore, there was NEVER an offer to have the fee waived. NOT ONCE. I would have have gladly taken them up on their offer if they had. They NEVER offered to redo them either. This reaffirms their lack of professionalism and the lengths they'll go, to take responsibility. It was only after I declined an appointment for a fill (in what they insisted had to be within a 2 week period) staring "I won't be back" that the technician came over with an attitude and said if I didn't like them she'd remove them. As I said in my review, I declined due to another commitment. Certainly no offers of any kind were made to me prior to paying. FALSE, FALSE, FALSE. After going to my vehicle and making alternate arrangements with my commitment, I did return to immediately have the lashes removed. In that span of a few minutes, the technician rescinded her offer. She was NOT with another client. She was actually folding towels at her station. I will GLADLY be contacting you to have my money refunded.
