Just this year they have also rebuilt the C6 in a 77 F150 2WD and the transmission and transfer case in my 78 Bronco 4X4. I really appreciate them taking care of my classics, but they've also done the transmissions in my Ranger 4x4, Cadillac STS4, Charger RT AWD and more. They have also done brakes, air conditioning, etc. for us. No one wants the expense of a car repair but when I pay for my repair, I feel I've gotten great value and it always comes with amazing customer service. Did I mention that I go out of my way to use them? I live at least 45 minutes away and when I've been stranded, I've had vehicles towed long distances just so I'd have the piece of mind that comes from doing business with someone I trust. Good luck with your repair. Tell them Brian sent you. It won't be the first time they've heard that. ;-)

Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. Took my F150 because my transmission was slipping. They…read morequoted me $6,500 to replace the transmission but wouldn't provide me with the estimate. I took it to Downriver Transmission, who a friend trusts, where they found the transmission fluid was low due to a corroded line and transfer case seal. They also replaced the bushing and U joints. All for under $1,500. More than 1,000 miles later it's running great and doesn't need a transmission. A Plus didn't mention checking the fluid level or the line, etc. At best, this seems negligent for not checking the level. At worst, they would have replaced a transmission that didn't need to be replaced then maybe found the other stuff. Yes, it was inconvenient but totally worth it to save at a minimum $5,000.

CAround late November of 2021 my car broke down. I was driving in a subdivision and ,upon taking a…read moreturn, I heard a (clunk-like) breaking sound, and my car stopped moving forward. It only moved in neutral, reverse, and the lowest gear after that. (This happened while I was working, so you can imagine the disbelief and stress I felt). I got it towed the following day. With the description of the problem, the tow-man said it sounded like the transmission gave out. I did research on transmissions for my car (2009 Chevy Impala). I discovered that people with the same car had experienced similar problems with their transmission. Mind you, I'm 19 years old, and I had absolutely no idea how to find a solution. I spent some time looking online for transmission repair shops in my area. For a few days, I called MULTIPLE shops asking them about what might be wrong and the costs to fix it. I got quotes all the way up to $6000.00, until I found Cuddy Brothers Transmission..... Mind you, my car did not drive; however, they were able to tow my car to their shop for "free."(I believe the towing is free with a related purchase, so ask Todd for details). As I called and explained the situation, he said it needed to be rebuilt. When he brought it in to diagnose, he confirmed everything he said over the phone. What caused my car to stop driving so suddenly, was that one of the three bands had snapped while driving. There were other corroded and worn pieces as well. They replaced all the broken pieces in the transmission. They also cleaned all the parts. Todd is very honest and knowledgeable about what he does. His entire team reflects that. I was astounded and impressed by how well they were able to simplify and explain to be the different parts of the transmission and how/why behind each part. Before I got any work done, I was given an estimate for the final price. It came out to be just under $2800($2747.68) to be exact. That included parts, labor, and sales tax. The interior of the lobby is old-fashioned, but their Bay Area looked well equipped with tools and everything. If you have any questions about warranty, your transmission, or general inquiry, don't hesitate to give them a call to speak to Todd. Todd was kind enough to bring me into the bay and give me a break down of everything in the transmission. He did an excellent job of educating me about it. The only concern I had , at first, was the duration of the rebuild. He said it was a 4-5 day job. However, they started on Tuesday, and they finished around 4:00pm on Friday. The mechanics were very friendly and open to questions. I knew nothing about transmissions before this. Now, I can have actually have a discussion about the parts and how it works. I'm giving five stars because my experience was INCREDIBLE. For all the research I did beforehand, I wish I had found this place first. But, as the saying goes "diamond in the rough", I had to dig through some roughness to find this diamond of Transmission Repair Shop. If you're unknowledgeable about what to do, don't worry. GO HERE and you'll be taken care of. I'm very fortunate to have found this place, and I happily share this information with you.

Update: Update: TLDR: I was told they could fix a front differential in my daughters car but…read morethey misdiagnosed it as an axle problem. After the proper repair was performed at a different shop, they admitted the mistake, and refunded their fee, paid for towing, and over half the car rental. They were very professional, and did their utmost to make up for our trouble. If you live in this area, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND State Street as they truly are honorable and overall competent. GMM A frustrating experience. My daughter's Subaru Impreza had a bad front differential with front wheels skipping on turns. Another shop replaced both front axles and U joints, though only one was bad. A very nice service manager, John Turnbull told me they could take the transmission apart and check the front differential in the manual transmission assembly. My daughter drove 1 hour to their shop, had to rent a car, etc. I then was told the right front axle (one U joint-inner or outer not specified) was bad. After a 3 way call with my original shop, and learning that State Street now could NOT take the transmission apart, we had to tow it back to her hometown. The original shop again replaced the R front axle, but the problem persisted due to the bad front differential. We had to expensively replace the the differential/transmission-original shop credited us for all axle labor. My complaint is 3 fold: 1-I was led to believe they could work on the actual front differential after their diagnosis confirmation 2-misdiagnosis of U joint malfunction when I specifically stated most likely front differential problem with 2 new front axles 3-Free diagnostic checkup suggesting services too soon, and services clearly performed in service book left on front seat. I had requested refund for their inaccurate diagnosis work June 15 and John said he would look into request.

I have an older Yukon and of course it had to breakdown and leak tranny fluid all over my friends driveway when the temperature was ZERO! I drove away not knowing I had a leak and pulled over less than a mile away because the transmission was acting erratically. I was pretty upset as I felt that I might have trashed my tranny.... A $2500 repair. I had my Yukon towed to Prompt and the owner Chuck got it in right away. He said that it appeared that I hadn't damage the trans since they added fluid and drove it, but it had a serious leak. They pulled the transmission and found that something on the torque convertor had sheered off and that the pump bearing that had been previously used was plastic and it should have been metal. I had had the transmission rebuilt less than two years ago by a guy out of his pole barn when I fell on hard times. Clearly that was a mistake. I got what I paid for. Chuck offered to let me take it back to the guy who repaired it previously. I said that I wanted Chuck to fix it right. He did and I picked up my truck today. He was very fair with me on the repair bill. Thank you Chuck!
