If you're into punk / metal / hardcore, they have a great selection, but I've also picked up some good hip-hop, jazz, folk, and country stuff here, too. The dude that works behind the counter is super friendly, chatty, and seems to genuinely appreciate people being there. The sign even says "Friendliest Record Store." I'll be honest - as a former record store employee with a terrible attitude that kind of put me off at first. But as I've gotten older and less unruly, it was appreciated when I was able to wax nostalgic about wax with him. Good selection of 7"s, too - and if you look at their website you can virtually check what's in stop before hitting them up. Oh, and they have sales - often! - that are noted on their Instagram page. Need more shops like this. Need more people to support shops like this. I'm a fan.

You can spend all day in there chatting about music and the way recording and distribution has changed over the years. Great place. I would stop by even if you don't have a record player or tape player. The nostalgia, the walk down memory lane when you Spin a record on your palms or stick your finger in a cd. Man I feel old. But my 13yr old gets me to Phono Select all the time. There is something for everyone.

My family and I frequent this place and find that the time does pass by here quite quickly...quite enjoyably. There are seating areas around where you can take a book for a spin before purchasing. There's just so much to enjoy... The place is brightly lit and well decorated. Apart from books, there's a lot more other things you can buy...vinyl records, toys, even model kits you can assemble in your spare time. And there is always the staff, friendly and knowledgeable about the store and its merchandise. The items are a little on the expensive side, but the quality is worth it. Summertime in Arden can get quite hot, but a relaxing visit to Barnes and Noble here in the Arden Fair Mall area is cool!

I've been coming to Barnes & Noble for over a decade, and it truly feels like a cherished location…read morein the community. As someone who has loved reading since childhood, bookstores have always been a special place for me--and this location has never lost its charm. Whenever I'm near the mall, stopping in here is a must. It's honestly a little dangerous how easy it is to walk out with several books, so I have to pace myself--but that just speaks to how great their selection is. They consistently carry a wide variety of genres I enjoy, and I always find something that catches my eye. The staff have always been helpful and approachable. Whether I've needed help tracking down a specific title, requesting something not in stock, checking a price, or even signing up for a rewards card, they've made the process smooth and easy every time. Over the years, I've also loved seeing how they've expanded beyond books. There's a great selection of board games, anime merchandise, and other fun finds, which makes browsing even more enjoyable. The store is well-organized, and I have always loved that you can freely flip through books before deciding to buy. I've purchased everything from genre fiction to cookbooks, toys, and picture books for my son when he was younger--there really is something here for everyone with a love for stories and a bit of whimsy. Prices are fair, the quality is great, and I've even discovered new authors and series I wouldn't have found otherwise. This Barnes & Noble will always hold a special place in my heart. It's more than just a bookstore--it's a place full of memories.

Drove over FAST, and got in the line, which wasn't horribly long. But I did have to wait 2+ hours for my ticket to return to get the console. Plus I got a few free Redbulls lol. I have to say it wasn't as bad as it was expected. The girl at the counter, was super sweet and very helpful. To preface this, I did NOT have a preorder. I was raw doggin' this on a whim to get a switch. I knew nothing of how to actually handle this whole thing, and I've never done this before. I'm glad I got in line early to make this as seamless as possible. Additionally, the workers inside were fighting for their lives with dealing with the number of people they had, let alone the demand for this release. Fast forward to 9pm. The doors opened, and the workers had us come in as groups based on the numbers they yell out. I was in n out within 15 minutes of opening and I was number 45 & 46. I was super impressed with how prepared and efficient they were. I give them 5 stars because of this being such an easy experience, and they were very professional with the launch. Good job, guys!

Naturally, I spent most of my time downstairs. The bookseller on the lower level was so knowledgeable! We got into a whole conversation and they pointed me toward several horror picks I never would have found on my own, including some horror graphic novels I'm genuinely excited about. That kind of interaction is exactly why indie bookstores matter. They also have an in-person horror book club, which honestly made me a little sad because I couldn't join. If I lived in Sacramento, I would 100% be a regular here. Highly recommend if you're passing through.
