    Lots of book cases!

What a selection! My husband and I stumbled across Time Tested Books while on a bookstore crawl together, and this store is awesome! They sell new and used books, though the store is primarily stocked with used books. Everything is priced fairly. Though there is a lot to look at, I felt like it was all organized well so it was easy to browse. The staff was also helpful when we had questions. I loved the children's selection. So many classic books for kiddos, and all were great quality. Check out this bookstore the next time you're in the area!

I really enjoyed this spot! This bookstore had a good variety of old and new books! The owner was very nice too

I always find something I want at this book shop and I love coming here! Such a cute bookstore with tons of books ranging in price from their $1 section to more expensive items. They have a small area by the children's section where kids can sit and play which I thought was really nice. The staff have always without fail been so kind! They explain their trade in system, ask if you need help finding anything in specific, and are generally kind and welcoming. Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

Loved the way they worked with the space and the lighting

As a teacher and a nerdy bookworm, I am irresistibly and unapologetically drawn to bookstores. We have been waiting for Time Tested to open back up and today was the day for us to venture inside! If the door is locked, make sure you're masked and just knock. For now, they are requiring masks for browsing, and I for one am not mad about it. Inside you'll find a bibliophiles' haven; stacks of new and used books gorgeously displayed in tall bookshelves set against exposed brick and wooden beams. Excellent selection, polite but not pushy service, and *that bookstore smell* that I find intoxicating. Can't wait to go back!

It was a very cute bookstore, but I had thought it was more used books, and they seemed to all be new.

Ever since the early-1990's, I've always been a huge music fanatic as I've collected hundreds of…read morevinyl records (in 33 1/3 and 45 format), cassettes, compact discs, and now that we're well into the mid-2020's, digital. This takes me to a place that takes you back to simpler times from a musical perspective and this is none other than "MediumRare Records". Located at the WAL (Warehouse Artist Lofts) Public Market at the 11th and R St's in Downtown Sacramento, this small business has been in operation dating back to 2015. Hours of business here are 11am-5pm seven days a week. Since this business is in a large indoor public market, many of the neighboring businesses also have very similar hours of operation. What I particularly and thoroughly enjoy about this place is that they focus primarily on vinyl records. This includes a ton of genres including blues, soul, jazz, R&B, classic rock, the British invasion, big band, swing, classical, and much more. Many of the standard records are around the $15-25 range while they offer deep discounts on other records for less than $5. In addition, this place also offers quite a few CD's as well. I also like how this business focuses on major well-known artists/groups such as Elvis Presley and The Beatles as there are dedicated sections displaying their album art and other collectibles. I do want to point out that for the non-musical kind, this place also carries a neat (yet small) assortment of books and other vintage memorabilia. I also wanted to add that they buy, sell, and trade various forms of music (mainly records) as long as it is near-new condition. The service here was above average as I spent at least 30 minutes browsing the aisles of their diverse and unique selection. All in all, "MediumRare Records" is a must-visit place if you're a huge fan of vintage music as myself. Since I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was always into the huge music stores such as "Amoeba" and "Rasputin". So for Sacramento to offer this is a big plus. With a nice selection, decent prices, and a great area in a cozy public market, I am giving this small business an above average four stars.

The owner is very passionate about music and you can tell it from talking to him. He is friendly, was chatting with all the different customers about what they picked, and even gives good suggestions! I bought a record from a band I had never heard of before (Fox Medicine). They were in the metal section but it was cute and bright pink. I looked them up quickly and listened to a couple songs and told myself I had to get that record. The owner was chatting with me about if I liked them or not and I was honest about literally just discovering them. He gave me one of their posters free of charge! They had just performed at his store and so he had a few left. I didn't realize he was giving it to me until we were leaving, I thought he was just showing me the poster. That absolutely made my day once I realized he was just giving it to me. The variety in this store is amazing with loads of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and even music equipment! Prices are very fair, and everything is properly labeled. Instead of me having to get my hopes up inspect the record, the front usually says the condition, pressing, if it's colored, etc. I don't have to waste my time inspecting it myself, as the staff has already done the leg work. They even have a bargain bin (wall) with great deals! Down on the floor was a box that had cheap project vinyl too. When I worked at a record store I remember teachers coming in looking for the cheapest ones they could find for a various lessons they had coming up. I'm glad The Audio Nerd has a box for people like them. The store is a little bit cramped with how small it is and with how much product they carry, but it is such a gem and so fun to flip through. You can spend an hour or two easily in there despite it being a small store. Live shows even happen here! They move some of the tables out and put a band in there. Shout out Hayden for always promoting upcoming shows there! And as if this place couldn't get any cooler, they also do punch cards too... Who has ever heard of a record store doing a punch card before? Absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a cool new record store, The Audio Nerd is a great place to check out.
