My friend and I decided we were going to spend a weekend going up and down the north fork trying different vineyards. This Was the first stop on our trip. The tasting is $20 ( which is a little pricy I know) but this place is super modern and upscale. You get to try 4 sparking wines and we opted to also try the to rose. We loved everything. They have a food menu which we didn't try but everything did look awesome. They give you Fiji water (because regular water would obviously be too normal) but that's what you pay for at an upscale place like this. When your stopping at various wineries on the East End, Sparkling Pointe should be in your rotation. Nestled on a sleepy vineyard, once you pull off Rt 48 its like you entered another world. Walking inside, its beautiful with light gray accents. Sparkling Pointe has a large open tasting room with a long bar and commanding view of the vineyard. If its a nice day and want to sit outside, they have many different options. Picnic tables, couches and wicker furniture are available for your bubbly sippin' party. My wife & are with friends, we're on the wine trail and I think this is stop #3. Of course your blown away walking in. We gravitate to the bar and are welcomed by the bartender. I tell him my wife doesn't want anything to dry and I'm open to suggestions. The bartender was very cool, he starts popping bottles and offered tasting of the various sparkling wines. I'm a fan of the Cuvée Carnaval Rosé. It's an apéritif but I'd bring to a summer backyard party to sip with friends. My wife went with the Cuvée Carnaval Blanc. Made with a Gewürztraminer blend, its another light, less dry fun sparkling wine that would be welcomed at a summer BBQ. The wine is amazing every time I have been there with a lot of different options. Also, it feels like a luxurious experience when you visit. One of our favorite wineries that we've visited! Beautiful property and we loved the outside patio. I did the flagship flight and my husband did the prestige flight. We can honestly say we enjoyed every glass in our flights; my favorites were the carnaval blanc and carnaval rouge- they were both light and fruity but not overly sweet; my husband's favorite was the blanc de noirs. We also paired it with caviar which was delicious and pretty well priced per oz. Jean was really welcoming and informative about all the wines. He didn't pressure us to buy any, but we still took 7 bottles home (we have no self control lol) what we loved most is how low key yet gorgeous this winery was. Outdoor Tasting Review: Sparkling Pointe is definitely an upscale winery. The gorgeous views mixed with quality champagne give this winery a relaxing yet high end feel. Located in Southold, the scenic trip gets you ready for a fun day out. There's a small parking lot on one side of the winery, and a larger lot on the other side. Limos/Busses/Car Service drops you in the front of the building. Due to COVID 19 & Social Regulations, this winery is taking the restrictions very serious. Tasting are reservation only at this time. You need to reserve a table online before your trip and register a credit card to the reservation. Cancelled reservations could result in a $20 penalty per person. After making a reservation and arriving, you must wait in your car for someone to come and escort you into the back patio of the winery. Outdoor seating only. Beware during the heat! Because it was outdoors only, the tasting was almost unenjoyable with the heat wave we've been having. The champagne got warm quick, and my cheese plate was melting with each minute passing. Masks are required while walking into the back, while inside using the bathroom, and each and every time a server comes to bring another champagne tasting. That means at the table, you need to wear a mask at times. I think it's great that all of the precautions were in place. It made me feel safe and secure. If you need to use the bathroom, one way directions through the winery are taped to the floor. The bathrooms were very clean. The prices here are on the more expensive side as opposed to other wineries. They have 2 different flights. One for $20 (3 glasses of champagne), one for $30 (3 glasses of champagne). I had the prestige flight for $30 which offers drier blends. The $20 flagship flight has sweeter blends. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary glass of champagne which I thought was a nice touch. The service was very friendly and informative. The drinks & food offered here are again, upscale. I love that they feature snacks from local farms. They have a nice selection of caviars. I had to try the snail caviar. As an escargot freak, this was a must order. The caviar was just over $60 for a small tin. It came with creme fraiche, crackers, and potato chips. The caviar had a nutty taste with hints of mushrooms. It was very different, and I'm glad I tried it. I also got a cheese board with locally sourced cheeses. The cheese board is great to share with the group and presented beautifully. Bottled water is $1 each. Overall, I'm happy with my first trip to Sparkling Pointe. My only advice is to beware, if it's too hot, you'll be miserable here. Come during a cool day. read more

While it certainly wasn't crowded there was a decent amount of people there. We each did a tasting flight and shared some snacks. Prices were fair for wineries in the area. My only reason for knocking a star off is lack of consistency. Any friends went to this same winery recently and winery was a great told that if you purchased a bottle after your tasting, the tasting was free. This was a promotion they took advantage of. We were given the check without any mention of the promotion so we asked about it and were told it is actually two bottles for one free tasting. Two out of the three of us were planning on buying a bottle but we didn't like how the promotion changed like that so we didn't. Overall I would definitely return for another tasting! read more

The tasting flight is priced on the higher side - sure - but you get nearly full glasses for each pour -- none of this one ounce stuff. We stopped in for a mid-day tasting a few weeks back and loved lounging on the winery's patio and being able to do the tasting at our leisure outside. Wines were on the drier side which I loved (my husband less so) and the Cuvée Carnaval Rosé stood out most. Tastings also come with a bottle of Fuji water for all you fancy people out there. Beyond the outdoor space, the tasting room itself is gorgeous with vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and modern decor -- it's anything but stuffy. Fantastic winery to enjoy a tasting at. If you enjoy the bubbly stuff this place is a must! Wow - this place is fancy looking. Another cozy room to step up into with more seating and couches. Now this is the way to do a tasting. They also feature live music, tasting events, and dining soirées. Very elegant and chic looking. Not really an intimate tasting room but very well done. That being said even though we are a bit more low-brow we loved this winery! They feature nothing but exemplary sparkling wines. Sure, it's basically their version of Champagne but because it's not from that region of France it can't be called that, yet we found their sparkling wines to be just as enjoyable. The lady who helped us out today, Kelsey, was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and really knew her stuff. Answered any questions we had and also gave us a lesson in sparkling wine making. What's even more impressive is that after we walked in and up to the main bar area she told us to take a seat and she would come by to take care of us. Tableside service right at our table in front of a roaring fire was so winning! A tasting flight here is $17. She came by every few minutes with each different wine to taste and explained each one. It was set at a leisurely pace so we never felt rushed. Along with the cheese, crackers, and fig & onion jam spread we purchased it made for a wonderfully casual nosh to go along with the chilled sparkling wines. They feature a locally sourced food pairing menu set up to enhance the wines and partner the tastes to them. We agreed we could envision weddings and glamorous parities here. I've been a big fan of North Fork wineries since around 1990. Ive seen a lot of changes, and while I prefer the smaller, mom-and-pop places, I don't begrudge the region's successor the move towards bigger and more upscale establishments. I enjoy the newer behemoth Kontokosta and will always be a devoted fan of Duck Walk. We've given Sparkling Pointe several tries, but it never changes - it's simply too high maintenance and user-unfriendly. It's very expensive and the sparkling wines, while good, are not exceptional and in fact are outclassed by some of the méthode champenoise wines produced by North Fork wineries who don't specialize in sparkling. Our last visit was the last straw - it was not particularly busy (Monday afternoon, several empty tables) but we had to wait over 20 minutes for a single, three-glass tasting. When the check finally came we were wildly overcharged (it was taken care of promptly, but was a sour note to complete a frustrating visit). That said, the XO brandy is exceptional. I recommend visiting other wineries that are more welcoming, with better wines, in particular the nearby One Woman Winery and the new Sanino (which does reservation/sit-down service in a customer-friendly way). read more

Sparkling pointe is the only vineyard in the North Fork that makes sparkling wine. It was also the most beautiful winery we visited. Wines were very good, and decently expensive. We ended up buying 2 bottles of the rouge wine and it is a perfect blend of sweet and dry. With the purchase of 2 bottles you get the tasting of 4 wines for free. Check in on yelp offers a free candle with the purchase of 3 bottles. I asked about it since we did buy 2 bottles and they gave it to us anyway. It is an absolutely lovely candle. I've been to Sparkling Pointe many times over the past 9 years and always enjoyed my experience. This weekend was different, and although I'm trying to attribute it to Covid restrictions, I feel the winery (afterall, that's what it is!) has been a bit too pretentious for me. We had a group of 5 and a couple of 2, long time college friends who have not been together in quite some time. Although we requested 2 tables together, they were quite separated and we were told we were not allowed to mix or stand! When a table of 2 nearby opened up immediately after arrival, we asked if we could switch. Although they begrudgingly accommodated, when 1 person turned their chair to the side to share conversation, we were corrected and told not allowed! We are not kids, but a north or 55 group. We ended up having 1 member of our group wait in the car while the rest of us enjoyed our champagne varietals and some cheese. When we asked for tap water, we were told, only cups and you fill at water fountain (if I knew I would have brought my Own water bottle!) but then NO CUPS! Fortunately the waiter came with boxed water, saying it was on him. Very nice, but on a Saturday evening you don't have cups?! Come on!! There are plenty of wineries and bars for that matter that do not take "reservations only" and "not over 6" and that is where I will take my business next time. The days of walking in and getting a glimpse of the vineyards and having a drink by the fireplace or simply at the bar are unfortunately over here and I don't think it benefits them at all. I'm giving them 3 stars because although the wine and food were fine, and the server tried hard to please, the manager was downright nasty and they are obviously have their hands tied by bad new rules. I wish I could give this winery 0 stars - this was the worst winery I have ever been to. My group of 12 showed up on a bus. We called way in advance to make separate reservations for 6 and 6. We showed up to a terrible manager with a disgusting attitude. He basically attacked us when we showed up saying he won't serve us because we came in one vehicle even after we explained the reservations we made in advance. This ruined the entire mood of our tasting. The hostesses and waitresses were amazing. Unfortunately, when you allow a business to be managed by a terrible employee customers will not return. Wow! I was super impressed with this place! The main tasting room with the stone floors and the light gray accented modern barn, you feel like you're transported to a different world! Exclusively selling sparkling wines, this place is a little more pricey than most LI vineyards. But if you're feeling on the fancy-ish side, come stop by this place! We grabbed a seat outside because it was such a nice day. It eventually got really hot thank god they had an umbrella at the table! The other vineyard we went to had a nice breeze but Sparkling Pointe had no breeze - I'm not sure if it's where the vineyard was located, but it's something to keep in mind if you're thinking about sipping bubbly outside. We did the grand tasting flight. Most of the wines were good but the one that stood out for me was the rose bubbly. Not too sweet and perfectly refreshing, I ordered a full glass of it and went on a romantic stroll around the vineyards with it. Because I was in love with it. I always hear this place is having events and I'm hoping to get out there for some of them. We had such a great time here and I was surprised my boyfriend even liked it! Rudest staff i've ever experienced. This was my first time at Sparkling Pointe and will be my last. From the second we walked in the manager gave us an attitude because we didn't have a reservation even though we were able to sit inside and had no problem with it. The waitress was even more rude when we asked a few questions about the menu and then charged us for the larger cheese board (when we ordered the small). Another manager came over and said "you ate it so you are buying it". He then proceeded to follow us into the parking lot to yell at us because we didn't leave a good enough tip. After 20mins a waitress came around and took our orders....30mins goes by and nothing?! We went to check and were told they would send us a new waitress to take our orders. This spot was pretty amazing. Coming from Los Angeles, CA and visiting some friends who live in Greenport for the first time, we let them take us where ever they wanted and this was one of the first spots. It was just after Christmas and the air had a good chill to it so we sat inside. Very nice interior with a beautiful view overlooking the vineyards. One thing I loved about this town was that everyone was so unbelievably friendly, and this place was nothing short of having wonderful hospitality. My friends and I ordered a flight of sparkling wine to try and we each enjoyed every one. Great taste and our server was very knowledgeable on everything we tried. We even ended up leaving buying two bottles, it was very crisp and we were hooked. If I were to ever come back to Long Island I would definitely want to stop back in here, maybe when the vines are in full bloom! read more

Wow what used to be one of my favorite destinations on the North Fork may have become my least favorite. There used to be nothing better than coming to Sparkling Pointe, sitting outside on their beautiful patio and enjoying a nice bottle of Carnaval (for $29.00 a bottle). Now they are charging a whopping $44.00 for the same bottle. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ???? WTH happened here? They charge $20.00 per person for a tasting which I suppose is kind of reasonable. They charge you $29 if you want to take the bottle home but an extra $15 to drink it there. It's disgusting to me how many of the wineries have changed....for the worse I might add. I can purchase 3 bottles of LaMarca Prosecco for the price they are charging for one bottle. I don't mind splurging once in a while but that is just outrageous. Sad to say but in the future i'll be getting my Carnaval to go. read more
