Had the worst experience with Sparklight. We tried to return their cable box for my father In law, who just moved into a nursing home in March to their office on Westpark Way only to be met with their female receptionist telling us unless we had a copy of his power of attorney with us or on file, she was unable to accept the box. After a few heated exchanges, we took the box outside and dropped it in their "return equipment here" receptacle. Now they have sent us a bill for $300 for unreturned equipment. Too bad Sparklight is one of the very few options we have here for cable or internet. Customer service, not their forte! read more

My internet goes out more then it should! Its absolutely ridiculous! Whether it be my entire neighborhood or just me it keeps going down. I call and call and call and they don't fix it. At one point they scheduled a tech. The day of my appointment he called me and told me everything looks fine so hes not showing up. THAT SAME NIGHT my internet went down again. I'm an internet-only customer. We'll get into why I don't subscribe to cable TV with CableOne some other time ... Back to the internet service: I was charged what I believed I would be charged (the deal came with free installation!). The installers came when the company said they would (actually, they were a few minutes early, so an extra star for the installers). The connection seems to be reliable, but I have had to reset my modem/wifi-router combo twice in less than a month because of apparent outages. I'll reserve judgment on the data caps. If I have *not* exceeded the data cap, I will say that the 100mbps plan is a good fit for someone who lives alone and has one computer, one iPhone, and one TV on the network. read more

When trying to decide between Cable One and Centurylink, I felt like I was trying to choose the lesser of two evils. I say this because I was previously a dissatisfied Centurylink customer and the reviews on Cable One weren't too promising, either. However, I am thus far pleasantly surprised. The customer service rep that took my order was competent, courteous, thorough and efficient. He worked with me on finding the best package for my needs and didn't try to upsell me. As promised, the technician contacted me prior to arriving and actually offered to come by earlier if it would be convenient. His name is Kevin and he was very polite, efficient and knowledgeable. He explained everything well and was more than happy to do whatever was necessary to meet my expectations. After having the service for only a day or so, I discovered that my television kept dropping the internet connection. Kevin had left me his cell number, so I called and left him a message about the issue. He promptly returned my call and explained that TVs often have weak wireless receivers. So he offered to come back and make some changes to hook my television up with a wired internet connection. Kevin was unbelievably flexible and interested in juggling his schedule so he could resolve my issue as quickly as possible. Once he made that change, I haven't lost my connection once. I might add that I have had no interruptions in my service and have not once been unable to connect on my wireless devices. Furthermore, I test my speeds regularly and consistently see my download speed fifteen per cent faster than I am paying for! As long as this keeps up and I don't have billing issues I plan to keep the service for as long as I'm in the area. read more

So very disappointed with Cable One. New to Idaho and have been living in Eagle for 6 months. Found a beautiful home in unincorporated Nampa. Being rural we knew to call to find out if they provided a similiar high-speed internet and cable service to the Nampa home. We were assured we could get service there and were even lead to a so-called "helpful tool" online wherein you can type in your address and it will tell you if you can receive their service. Which we did (our full address mind you and not just a zip code). This is very important to us as my husband works from home and we are a modern-day family of gamers and streamers, etc. We put a bid on the house and purchased it. I went online to order new service with Cable One and paid for it. Hours later I was contacted to say they do not service my area. I am so upset to find this out after purchasing my new home. It is appalling. The first person I spoke with sympathetic and said she'd look into the matter. When I followed up and got another person, she was much less sympathetic and she told me there was nothing they could/would do and that many people buy homes based on the online tool which isn't accurate. Extremely disappointing customer service. I consider this to be false advertising and very poor business practice.I am sure based on this information that I am not the only family to be put in a terrible situation and it seems Cable One has no care or intent to remedy their false claims and false advertising practices. I plan to pursue this matter as I believe this to be unlawful. read more

I switched to SparkLight from another internet service provider. I was going from DSL 50mbps to Cable internet with speeds of 1G. My new service is completely unreliable. I've had issues with my streaming services constantly buffering and dropping the connection altogether. The best response I was given by the company is to change my streaming settings to low/base resolution to accommodate my network. Completely unacceptable. read more

We're paying for the highest speed/best internet - so 80 a month. Before it was 50 a month... it's the exact same thing. We have drop outs multiple times a week. My husband and I are gamers and streamers. He uses Twitch to live stream etc... the internet drops while he's hard wired almost every time he attempts to stream. The FPS is miserable. Nightly we have issues. In fact, the internet is so bad, that it's rare to have well working internet. Ridiculous thing is that we are in central Boise. It's not like we're on the outskirts of the city. Also, at one point there was an internet outage for almost 3 full days. Of course we called multiple times and they could never give us information on what the issue was, nor did they offer any kind of repayment. The contract is that they provide internet... they didn't have it so we shouldn't of had to pay for it. We pretty much make a living off the internet, but this company makes it extremely difficult and frustrating. I do not suggest this at all. Especially if you're a high usage internet user. read more

This is a review on Sparklight's customer service (tech support). After waiting for 30 minutes to speak to someone, I was connected to a support tech who put me on hold 2 minutes after speaking to me. After 10 frustrating minutes and being put on hold a couple of more times, I found out she was addressing another issue and not the issue I had called about. It became obvious she had little knowledge of how to fix my issue - trying to share what was on my phone's Sparklight app with my Samsung TV (I just signed up and am waiting for my Fire Stick). After lots of silence and her response that she couldn't fix the problem because she didn't have my phone in her hand (!), I worked it out myself with no help from her, just a whole lot of dead air on the line. She actually told me she couldn't help me and that the problems were on my end. This is customer service or, dare I say, tech support? Sparklight, you may have a good product but without good support your up the proverbial creek. read more

Just switched from centurylink, the internet service plans and customer service are night and day between the two. After having century link for just over a year, it feels like a breath of fresh air choosing cable one. Why? Customer service is on point, all the time to help you with whatever you need. They're there for YOU, NOT just a paycheck and it's obvious. Other internet providers will LIE to you about the service rates you may get in your area. Centurylink told me the max I could get in my area was 40mps. Last week, I had cable one install their GigaONE 1000mps plan. DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHER PROVIDERS. Everyone knows ISP's are lying scum-sucking scourges on humanity. It barely helps to leave bad reviews, because even if Cable One, for example, has an average 1.5 out of 5 star rating, so do all the other ISP's. But even if there were a good ISP to switch to, it wouldn't cover my area, because ISP's essentially maintain regional monopolies. So when my connection marketed as 100 Mbps only comes in at 3 Mbps if I'm lucky, and 0.5 if I'm not, I have no choice but to call Cable One to ask them to fix it, at which point they mumble something about Wifi congestion, despite the fact that I'm not using Wifi. I even chose to rent a modem/router from them so that they couldn't blame my hardware. So either I'm experiencing Wifi congestion over ethernet, or Cable One is lying again. read more

Miserable service. It is seemingly impossible to drop one of two people on the same account leaving only one account holder even though both people have personally called and spoken to supervisors asking that this be done. Idaho also boasts some of the slowest speeds in the nation. CableOne doesn't care because they don't have to. Unfortunately other ISPs in Boise are at least as bad or I would dump these losers in a heartbeat. read more

Our television works about 95% of the time but internet service is not as reliable. I would say internet works properly 80% of the time and they have been to our home repeatedly to try and fix our problems. They never quite get them all fixed. read more

Since they virtually have the monopoly in Boise, they think they can do what they want--even if it means forcibly "bumping" your service up to the next tier. We used to pay $55 and are now paying $85 for mediocre speeds and service that cuts out on a regular basis. We are seriously considering to bite the bullet and go to Centurylink. Giving Cable One even one star is too much! Their TV service is outdated and horrible. They have no other cable TV competition in the Boise area so they have no reason to make it better. I have two CableOne accounts, one in Boise and the other in McCall. Generally, the service has been good. However, trying to reach anyone in customer service is nearly impossible due to extremely long wait times. The support available on the website is poor and generally just directs to call CS for answers. For the benefit of your paying customers, add the ability to chat or email support. read more

I used to like Cable One, when I paid $50/month for internet. They just unleashed some terrible new plans. They've increased their cheapest internet plan to $55/month, and added a data cap (wtf?) of 300GB monthly. If you go over the data cap, they automatically "upgrade" you to the $80/month plan, with a 400GB cap. Go over that, and you have to pay $105/month for 500GB of data. As a long time customer, I am very disappointed with this obvious ploy to force customers into high cost plans, so they can increase prices by $30+/month. read more

Ok we are all used to getting screwed by our TV providers. They all suck, but Cable One is at the bottom of the pile. I have been a faithful customer for 4 years because I game and they provide cable high speed internet. Where do I start? First, the promos are complicated and lead to extra costs and hassle down the road. They rope you into useless items that you do not need. Good luck keeping track of that extra cable box! After 6 months they jack the rates just like everyone else does. Customer service ranges from useless to downright rude. Every time I call, I either get someone who sounds like they do not want to be there, or a condescending tech support guy. If you have a problem, good luck getting it fixed in a timely manner. They like to kick back and have you turn your box or modem on and off no matter what the problem is, because restarting fixes EVERYTHING. Don't bother calling about slowdowns because you will get the same story about "peak hours", modem limitations, ect. I have never been able to run the advertised speed at any point during the day or night. The problem is on their end and they refuse to acknowledge it. Good luck getting them to commit to a time of day to install anything. They will only schedule during the day or night. Saturdays do not apply, they can feel free to stop by any time they please. This led to my brother and I being without cable or internet for weeks because they could not schedule a new date even after being 2 hours late to a "morning" appointment. Apparently morning to these guys is any time between 6:00AM and 2:00 PM. It wasn't until I threatened to switch to satellite did I get anywhere. Payment is also difficult. Make sure you stay on top of them because they have a habit of charging expired debit cards using their "easy pay" system. I accumulated over 300$ in late fees one year because of this. Something that I did not catch until one of my bills came in with a collection notice attached. The issue was resolved and the late fees were dropped, but customers should not be subject to such idiocy. A word of advice- KEEP TRACK OF THE SERIAL NUMBERS ON ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT AND THE PEOPLE WHO HANDLE OR TAKE THEM. A Cable One tech has apparently lost my spare box, and failed to issue a new box as part of our new contract. I am now being charged for 2 missing boxes. Needless to say, I am beside myself and will be terminating service at the conclusion of my contract. read more

Terrible terrible customer loyalty and service!!! I put them right up there with insurance companies!!! After two years of perfect payments my 12 year old son lost our monthly bill (we assume)...whatever, no big deal! I'll just take care of it via online or wait until the next billing cycle...bad idea. Not only did Cable One suspend our service as a warning (because apparently I'm a five year old), I called to take care of the situation on said "warning" day and was never told it was a billing issue. A guy name Benjamin even trouble shot the problem for me. Again, was NEVER told it was a billing issue. Got the next months bill, $8 late fee from previous month...okay, that's fine, I get it. Sent the bill off. A week later Cable One cancels our internet due to unpaid bill (a$$holes). Then expects another late fee of $50. A $95 reactivation fee. And a $75 "punishment because your a toddler" deposit that gets returned to you in 3 months when you become a loyal customer again. Awful. To top it off the lady in customer service was a complete SOB. Annnnnnd. After years of their runaround "we're improving our fiber optics in your area soon" we still have shitty service. We pay for high speed internet. We definitely do NOT have high speed internet. Thanks for the discount douches. My only other option...Century Link. What a joke. read more

I just want to start out by saying that I am not on here because I am upset only. I am giving you the facts. I live in Idaho and set up an appointment for new Wi-Fi service to get rid of our slow cable service. I took a day off of work Wednesday March 24th and was told my installer would be here in between 8:45 a.m. at 9:45 a.m.. 10 a.m. came around and I called sparklight and ask them what was going on and they said my installer showed up to a different address tk the people across the street. First of all they said he left because the people told him they did not order Wi-Fi. why didn't the driver call Me on my cell phone before he left the neighborhood? So their solution was instead of sending the driver back to my house where they made the mistake by inputting my address wrong they said we'll have somebody there in between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.. is that right? I talked to two customer service people and both of them were non sympathetic for me so, I said forget the service, and they said they will refund my money instead of trying to smooth things over and make something bad into something good. Watch out for Idaho they're only worried about money, and not the customer. So I lost a day's worth of wages and they are telling me it's going to be three weeks till I get my $146 back on my refund that. It's funny how fast they took the $146 out of my account but they are going to take three weeks to give me my money back for their mistake and not mine . All I can say is beware! read more

What a horrible company!!! If there's any way you can avoid using this POS, do it!! We have been customers of theirs for over 10 years, but that means absolutely nothing with this company. We had an issue where one of our kids left his ChromeCast plugged in, so we hit the data cap for 2 months until we figured out what was using all of the data (threw that thing in the trash). We hit the data cap once again last month, so we got the dreaded 3rd notice, and that we are going to be upgraded to the next plan at an obvious higher rate. I called them and pleaded my case, but they said too bad. I told them that I was considering cancelling my service - "drop off your equipment and we will stop your service then". No attempt to retain a long time customer at all. Plus, their office closes at 5pm, so any interaction I have with them means I have to take time off of work. So, I went looking for other ISP's for my area - CenturyLink only has 40mbs, and there are no others that I could find that provided an equivalent package in our area. I need the plan I have because I occasionally work from home and need the bandwidth. So, they basically have the monopoly in our area, and they know it, and they treat their customers accordingly. So, now I'm paying an additional fee for a plan that I don't need because they just don't give a crap about their customers - just their money. read more

I live in an apartment with an exclusive CableOne contract. We struggled with the internet service for about a year and then my boyfriend thought upgrading might work. Lo and behold the internet started to be dependable after paying more so we got a Tivo and upgraded again. Now we only get service 2-3 days a week steadily, the rest of the time we have to use our Sprint phones to get service (and that's saying something) for web and the fact we don't get Comedy Central anymore is pretty frustrating. We call CableOne a lot. They "reset the channel" for our internet to work temporarily. I'm not sure what exactly that entails but it seems to me that they are well aware of what's happening. read more

When I moved to Boise about 6 years ago I started my internet journey with Qwest. Shortly after they were acquired by Centurylink and service just went from alright to bad. Couldn't play games online with friends without lag, chat with friends through services like Skype, or watch Netflix without the show dropping completely or a buffer screen showing up for multiple minutes. Resetting their modem would resolve issues for maybe a day if you I was lucky. So switched to Cable One. Been with them for 4 years now and all of the issues above have really just vanished. I purchased my own modem which is the same hardware they'll issue you if you choose to lease. Haven't had to reset it in years, though I do recommend getting a separate wireless router as the modems wireless capabilities are a bit sub par. When I moved they had to run a line across my front yard, took a week for them to bury that line. When they did bury it, was done when I was away and didnt notice any damage to my lawn, was as if the line simply vanished. Very professionally done in my opinion. They even advertise what they give you, havent had to deal with misinformation like I did at Centurylink. Out of the 2 choices in the Treasure Valley Cable One is really the better choice. read more

Get rid of your data caps, provide your advertised speeds (I'm supposed to get 150mb/s but I actually only get about 40mb/s), and fix your high latency issues!! 100+ms ping is NOT normal for a cable ISP! I've had Cableone for internet for last 5 years and I don't have any complaints with service. My kids use the XBox and stream Netflix daily. I don't believe the speeds are accurate though. Then again, internet works great so, again, no complaints. read more
