To cancel, their website will make you jump through a bunch of hoops, only to inform you that you have to call in. Then you'll jump through all the same hoops, wait on hold forever, and then be transferred from department to department, because apparently it's no one's job to let you cancel. Worst experience ever!! I had a technician come out and completely mess up the install. Wifi never worked & he just left without notice. I had appts scheduled every day the following week to fix it & they never showed. Went into their office & spoke with a supervisor who told me they would absolutely be out that evening, just for them to no show again. They came out to bury my permanent line, had zero issues with the temp line. They finished and just took off, didn't stay to make sure the connection had returned. When I called customer service the best they could do was send someone out in a 4 hour block the next day even though I called at 2pm same day. It's 11am and still no one here, they set my priority level to 4 when I work from home and I stated this to them. The customer service rep hung up on me so I couldn't take the survey because they knew it wouldn't be favorable. 12 years with Sparklight in Boise - reliability and customer service have fallen off a cliff I've been a Sparklight (formerly Cable One) internet customer in Boise for about 12 years, and the service has become steadily worse while the prices keep going up. Every six months or so my connection starts randomly dropping - exactly the same pattern, year after year. The connection will work for a few months, then suddenly I can't reliably watch movies or YouTube because the stream constantly pauses, buffers, or disconnects. Most recently, over Christmas the connection became almost unusable. In the middle of the day I watched my modem/router dropping and reconnecting over and over again. I called Sparklight and they scheduled a technician visit for today between 8 a.m. and noon. They called yesterday to confirm, then again this morning to confirm, and then again around 9 a.m. telling me a tech would be there in about 30 minutes, so I took time off work and waited. No one ever showed up. No call, no text, no update. Two hours after the promised time window I called Sparklight. Their automated system kept telling me there were "zero callers in front of you" while I sat on hold for around 30 minutes. When I finally reached a human, I was told that "someone will be out later this afternoon," as if the original appointment and all the confirmations didn't matter and my missed half‑day of work was irrelevant. I pushed back and the agent said he would "call dispatch" and then left me on mute for another 15 minutes with no communication and no resolution. At that point I hung up. There was still no technician, no ETA, no apology, and no offer of a credit even though I lost work time waiting for an appointment they repeatedly confirmed and then simply ignored. This is not a one‑time glitch - this is a pattern I've seen for years: * Recurring service drops every few months that make streaming and basic internet use unreliable. * Support agents who insist "everything looks fine" until the problem magically disappears for a while, only to return again later. * A complete disregard for scheduled appointments and the customer's time, even after multiple confirmations. Switched from one property to another. Brought over the gear, the property service was not on, so called tech service, on hold for a least an hour for a human. He had me retry everything I spent time trying to no avail. Scheduled service for 5 days later. No heads up what time anyone would show up, see a missed call at 7:58 AM, called it back within 5 minutes. Spoke to tech support after 15 minutes on hold, Technician had come, rang the "doorbell", twice and was gone. Called tech support asking if they were coming back, they said service ticket was still open, ok. Called back 7 1/2 hours later after no notification, ticket was canceled. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Chat can only handle a very narrow script range of customer comments and keeps looping back to the same statements. Had them send a signal to "restart" but that process takes 30 minutes. For the entire months of September and October 2025, our neighborhood in South Hill Subdivision has been experiencing terrible internet service -- frequent disconnections, extreme latency spikes, and unusable speeds during the evenings. The first technician promised to send someone out in two weeks, which is far too long for an issue affecting an entire area. Horrendous customer customer service. Starting as soon as we moved into a rental we had connectivity problems. They said it was our modem, so I bought a new one and replaced all cabLes, things kept getting worse. The tech cam out and said it was building wiring and definitely NOT them. I spoke too the owner, they wanted a letter saying SL had tested and determined it was the building. After hours SL said they would send the letter. I decided to run a week long ping test and with over a half million readings found there was no response 17% of the time. Given it takes 10-15 seconds for games and TV services to reconnect, functionally it was much worse than 17%. More calls, more lies, multiple discount offers, none of which happened. Finally a higher level tech comes out and says it was them, replaces a cable and within ten minutes it works! MONTHS of crappy, it's you not us service, and now they won't even answer or return my calls, I think we've been ghosted. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 9/21/25 - (Update) As you can see, they sent the same auto-respond that everyone gets, so so much for a human connection, but only with the same exact number...the one that STILL has not returned my call from weeks ago! The company is awful in every regard. I had to reschedule 3 meetings at the last minute this morning because we lost all internet service throughout Meridian and Eagle. I only went with them because it was all I could get where I'm located evidently. Upper management obviously needs replaced because they just can't seem to get it right. Whoever is running their IT department should be fired immediately and tossed in the can for negligence. It's one issue after the next and I will be switching providers asap. I was paying over $130/month for a 200gig plan that was outdated. Found a much better, much faster plan for $40/month from AT&T. When I tried to cancel Spark light they offered me a 600gig plan for $80. I asked why I was paying so much for an outdated, slower plan. Their response is that it up to me to continuously call and ask about new plans. They willing and gladly let me over pay for sub par service since 2018 instead of sending so much as an email to let me know there are better plans available. I did the math. That's over $11,000.00 I paid for what they knew was an overpriced and underpowered plan. When I was cancelling they offered a month of free service on the $80/month 600gig plan but there is NO way I'm ever going to be willing to do business with a company like that. Complete lack of morals. Absolutely disgusting and despicable behavior in my opinion. I hope AT&T puts them out of business forever. Never disliked a company so much in my life. read more

A " contractor" came to our home in February (very late evening), after we called Sparklight 3 times because we had no confirmation for the appointment we had scheduled. He said the cable was buried (new construction) , so he literally placed a cable wire all the way around our house as a backup connection and said he couldn't dig up/ fix but he'd 'enter a ticket' so the right team, could handle. No ticket was ever entered, as confirmed through multiple phone calls and an in person visit to the Nampa office where we were told it would be a 12 week lead time. We are now in April, Sparklight was on our neighborhood last week, guy confirmed he knew who the contractor and that he was wrong, conduit not buried, but he couldn't fix it, he'd " put in a ticket." Still no follow up from Sparklight....so my husband called again today. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with an employee who said her name was "Jen" and refused to turn the call over to a Supervisor after my husband asked kindly no less than 5 times. While Sparklight has issued credits to our account, we are still living with a wire around the entire house to suffice as "internet service" and nothing but the run around and ticket excuses from Sparklight. I have filed a complaint with BBB and State of Idaho Consumer Affairs....just to get Sparklight to provide customer service. If you are a Sparklight employee, please don't use a canned reply and ask me to call your customer service. I've already done that and my matter is not resolved. Look at your open tickets dating back 3 months in Eagle, Idaho. I don't normally do reviews but today was it. I work from home and we have had multiple outages and problems with Internet dropping for days. We tried to call and after being on hold for 45 minutes the person said they don't see anything happening. Wasn't them it was our equipment. Next day same thing got a different person. She looked up our account and noticed we had several outages on their end since the 20th. She sent an order to have a technician come to our house. Days with trying to work being dropped things hot worse. Sometimes down for 40 minutes at a time . The technician was supposed to be here from 8 am to 12 pm. Today was an onsite day but I stayed home to let the tech in. 1 o'clock rolls around no show. So my husband calls and the lady said he's on his way. 3 rolls around no show. So he calls on hold for 45 minutes and unknown number comes up. That's when someone finally answered so he didn't pick up. Not even a minute later the lady that picked up said it was cancelled due to no one picking up the phone. Sparklight service is terrible. Customer support is terrible. This company knows that they own certain markets due to their fast download and upload speeds. Their only major competitor is Quantumfiber, but due to Quantum's necessity for construction (and its costs) they are not available in all markets. I happen to live in a market where Quantum is not available. Sparklight has horrible customer service with employees that are not treated right. If they were treated right, they would be happier when they connected with people. Their equipment/hardware is ineffective, expensive, and fragile. Their signal is hit and miss and technicians are rude and unavailable. The only guaranteed service that Sparklight can offer is a long wait on a service call. The long waits ensure my confidence of this review as it proves I am not the only customer that is having similar problems. read more

There is no option to reach a live person even though the phone tree will transfer you to a representative where you will sit on hold Indefinitely. For those of you thinking it must've been a busy day - I want you to know that I tried to reach them three days in a row with the same result. If yelp had a -5 star rating as an option I would definitely award it to Sparklight! To the Sparklight "Owner" - One would think that if you were sincere about correcting a customer service issue you would provide a name, phone number, or email address that Is different from the phone numbers that lead to the problem in the first place. But for the past several months, service has been terrible. The price went up, and the quality went down. I had had severe problems with my TV Internet. It was buffering and the quality of the picture was terrible. I frequently couldn't watch programs because of these problems. A Sparklight technician named.Steven Wanous to my house after I had had other technicians who did not solve the problem. He was very thorough, smart and thoughtful. He tried a number of different solutions and kept on steadily. We thought the problem was solved after the first visit, but it was not. He called back to check in and added me to his schedule the next day so he could come back and work on the problem further. After diligently searching, he eventually found the solution. He was professional, polite, personable, knowledgeable, and a delight to work with. He was much better than other people who have tried to solve the problem. I highly recommend him. read more

They recently updated their site and billing. During this time you couldn't login and pay your bill and it disabled auto billing. just recently they allowed you to access the site. I was slapped with a $100 late fee and I'm paying for the 1GB internet package. In the years I've had Sparklite I've never missed a payment. Then I was hit with the $100 for July and the $100 for August. When I spoke with Sparklite I was told too bad so sad. Luckily more internet companies have moved into where I live and I am leaving asap. poor customer service and horrible customer retention. you can't even hop on new customer promos like some of the other internet companies and they genuinely do not care about you as a customer. read more

The installer was great. He set everything up, was on time, was polite, etc. But he also said that conduit hadn't been pulled to our house for the fiber install, which means that an exposed fiber line is sitting on a bed of rocks. The installer asked that we avoid stepping on the line because it is very fragile, so he basically ran an orange line above ground and zip tied it to the black line which is barely visible (our rocks are brown and black). The issue is that our trashcans and backyard traffic comes through a gate which is right next to where the line attaches to the house. The installer told me 12 weeks before someone would dig that conduit line. I followed up after 4 weeks of being here and was just told that it is normal for 45-60 days before that actually happens. And NOTHING is on a calendar for when they estimate that it will happen. We have nothing bad to say about the quality of the install OR the service. So far, it has been far better than Spectrum (where we came from). But 12 weeks? Seriously? 3 months before we can expect to be able to not have to carry our trashcans over this exposed line? We have been with sparklight for multiple years, so it came as a surprise that out of nowhere, our rate went from ~$45 to $61 without any notice at all, not so much as an email. Absolutely spineless as a company to not at the very least notify a customer when their rate is going to increase.
