Oh my gosh. Won Kim and his lovely wife just delivered our sofa and loveseat after 4 weeks of careful reupholstering. I feel like we got BRAND NEW COUCHES. They look amazing! 100% recommend this small business! The cost of reupholstering is roughly the same as purchasing brand new couches but you don't have to wait months for delivery and, if you are like us and the couches are tired but still high quality (these are King Hickory couches. I came here because the reviews on Yelp and the ability to replace the foam inside the cushions of my sofa on the same day. This place is kinda tucked away amongst a ton of other stores, warehouses, and furniture stores. The shop wasn't very large, but you can tell they take pride in their work because of all the good reviews they had posted on the walls and all the pictures of their work. I dropped off 2 cushions at around 11:00am and they were ready at 4:30pm. The work and quality of the foam have been excellent. I've been on the new cushions for about 3 days now and I have no complaints about the work or quality. I have a sectional sofa and only took 2 of the 3 cushions for repair. I left the larger (bench-like) cushion for another time to repair. I only did 2 now because the cost was more than I expected and I wanted to see how good they would come out. I really want to take the last cushion to have the foam replaced, but after thinking more about it I don't think I will. The cost to re-do all 3 cushions would cost close to half the price of a new sofa. Minus one star only because it was slightly more than I wanted to pay for the work. I'd come back here again if I had a really nice piece of furniture that I wanted restored; something antique or sentimental. read more

I rarely write reviews for vendors, but I felt the need this time since this was so personal. I have used Sparkle Upholstery in the past and they did an excellent job. This time not so much. I paid Sparkle to upholster two leather club chairs that were in excellent condition, using a beautiful chenille fabric. When the chairs were returned, they looked beautiful, the only issue was I noticed the next day they damaged the legs of the chair. I called the owner and he came over only to tell that "the dings in the legs were a design feature" "I did not do this!" I'm not surprised that he didn't admit to damaging the legs of the two chairs, because I know what my furniture looked like when it left my home. My 25 year old favorite chair was on its' last leg. It was a good quality chair with a solid frame but the upholstery had become faded and stained and the feathers in the cushions had lost their will to live. I found new fabric on line on sale. I contacted Mr. Kim. He gave me an estimate. He picked the chair up 8 0r 9 days ago and delivered it to me yesterday, three weeks ahead of schedule. It is so beautiful with the new fabric! I just stopped in Sparkle Upholstery after seeing their excellent reviews online and calling ahead the day before to discuss how to go about getting my chair reupholstered . However I was extremely disappointed with how I was treated by their staff in their shop. After letting someone know I was there to look at fabrics I was immediately informed " you know this is expensive " which I am aware that upholstery is expensive, I guess they assumed I did not have the money to pay for their services. Then they proceeded to quote me $1,000 for a singular modern dining chair, which is completely outrageous ( and not even a real estimate based off of pricing I have seen in their reviews) in an effort to shoo me away. When I questioned the pricing they pivoted well most people don't reupholster newer furniture, which again isn't true. I have had a great deal of furniture reupholstered both antiques and new, ultimately it is sometimes better to just buy a new piece, but if they are price gouging you in an effort to deter you from patronizing their business of course I would just go get another chair. I just left a different upholstery shop they are charging me $300 fabric and labor included. Shame to know Sparkle Upholstery did not want my business. read more

My 10-year old custom sofa was showing it's age - the seat cushions looked ok, but when you sat down it was like sinking in quicksand ... it was difficult to get up from the couch, especially for my parents, and left your back hurting. After searching the web to understand different options for foam replacement, I came onto Yelp to look up local businesses and found Sparkle. They offer SAME DAY replacement of foam seat cushions, which is great considering most people actually use their couch every day. I called for an estimate and talked to Mrs. Kim - she was very friendly, and said if I brought the cushions in in the morning (they opened Saturday at 10am), I could get them back by 2pm. She estimated $170/cushion for high-density foam wrapped in batting (which my old cushions were too). Online services run about $130/cushion for "rigid" foam with batting wrap - but that's mail-order, and you have to do the stuffing yourself... I once took the covers off just to wash them, and it was a nightmare - for me, the extra money was worth not having to deal with it... When I arrived, they measured the cushions and found due to it being custom, my cushions were an odd size - it added about $10 per cushion to the original estimate, but $360 vs. $1000+ for a new couch? No brainer! Ms. Kim and I had the nicest chat. The storefront is located near Marlo furniture, off 395. It's a bit hard to find, but my GPS listed it. The office is small but neat and packed with photos of their work. It's a family-run business, with Mr. Kim in shouting distance working on various pieces of furniture in various states of repair. When I returned at 2pm, I could see my cushions wrapped in plastic and at the door... I didn't even make it to the door before they saw me coming - Mr. and Mrs. Kim picked them up and brought them out to the car for me. When I took the cushions in, they fit easily in my hatchback. When I picked them up, they were so much fluffier, the trunk wouldn't close without a push! I hadn't realized how deflated they'd become. It's like having a brand-new couch!!! You sit up higher, don't fall down into the couch, no more backaches, and it just looks better overall. I'm just annoyed with myself for waiting so long. I wouldn't hesitate to use Sparkle Upholstry again, and plan to call on them when I figure out what to do with some dingy-looking diningroom chairs. In short, lovely people, fast, efficient, quality service at a reasonable price. read more

Simply outstanding! I had a rattan loveseat, two chairs and an ottoman that all needed new cushions. Sparkle had a huge selection of fabrics and Julie is oh so knowledgeable about what coordinates well with the rattan and will wear well. She was patient while I searched through fabric book after fabric book, and was willing to contact the supplier to get a lower price on the one I finally selected. But even better than the fabric selection is the quality of the foam. I have hip issue and suffer when sitting any length of time in any of my sofas (including those from Ethan Allen). The foam that Julie suggested for the rattan cushions is incredible. I can sit all evening in one chair and have no pain at all. The quality of the new cushions is impeccable. The matching of the fabric design, the cording, and the new shape of the cushions were better than the original and far better than anything I have had done at a chain competitor store. And, as other customers attest to, the service at Sparkle Unpholstery is the best. Julie if friendly, knolwedgeable, and turn-around time for the work was reasonable and respected. I felt like Julie was a friend by the time I picked up my cushions. And in the end, I decided to recover two kitchen chair seats and Julie had a piece of fabric that was left over from another job and gave the fabric for free--it too was a perfect color. I dropped off my cushions for an eight year old sofa which were going flat, When someone would sit on the sofa, they cushions would sink, there was not stiffness left. I dropped off six cushions (three seats and three for the back) on a Wednesday morning. The estimated completion time to restuff them was 2 to 3 days. I received a call from Sparkle in less than two days indicating the work was completed. I picked up my six cushions wrapped in plastic and they looked new. The foam used by Sparkle was an upgraded foam would be firmer than the original foam. I have my cushions at home and I am pleased with the results. I will update my post after six months of use.
