I recently moved and my old couch no longer fits my new space. The couch I bad is able to have an "L" shaped couch that had a removable piece at the base that could be made into an ottoman, should you ever just want a standard couch without the "L". The place I bought it from wanted to charge us $500 to create a new cushion to set atop the existing base, which not only felt pretty steep, but they estimated that it would take them a month or two to do the work. Since we already had the longer cushion, we shopped around to see if someone could just convert the longer cushion into a square, rather than creating a whole new cushion: enter Rainbow Upholstery. Not only was the owner incredibly responsive, his prices were more than fair and he was able to complete the work in 1-2 days, not months. I'm so happy with my new ottoman--it looks like it was always meant to look this way, and fits my new home so much better! read more

Tasir did a fantastic job on my chairs! The entire process was so easy --- I dropped the chairs off at his work site, he assessed the chairs for the type of work that needed to be done, and we chose the fabric. He had a lot fabric in-house, which made it really easy to get the work started as soon as possible, and reduced the cost a bit. He had to do a little more work than expected since the seats were sinking a little, but that cost was minimal too. The end result was amazing! They are like brand new chairs. He also finished them in a day, which was an added bonus. Thank you again! read more

Our cats had done a number on our ottomans. A quick search for upholstery, and we found Rainbow Upholstery locally. Taisir is a kind man to deal with and he helped us pick a nice fabric and got it on order. He did the work quickly, and the pieces look great. Upholstery isn't cheap and the fabrics add up quickly, but it was still much cheaper than buying new. read more

Rainbow upholstery was INCREDIBILE! They accepted our 8 beat up dining chairs, I picked fabric they didn't have on hand, and they completed the repairs and reupholstery in under 3 weeks ahead of Thanksgiving. The chairs are now more comfortable then when we first bought them 10+ years ago, and the upholstery is perfect. I really appreciate the service, the quality and the timeliness & communication. I'm now scouring the house for more things to bring to them! read more

Rainbow Upholstery fixed two leather ottomans that my kids had torn for a very reasonable price. The repairs are completely undetectable. Rainbow Upholstery exceeded my expectations in every possible way. read more

Absolutely amazing work. I called Rainbow Upholstery based on the Yelp reviews and their website and I'm so glad I did. I needed a corner sectional completely reupholstered (three pieces, lots of cushions and buttons, and an unusual fabric direction based on the textile pattern and MCM style); Taisir was super patient with me on the phone, taking time to ask questions and explaining everything that needed to be done. He stuck to the schedule, kept in touch along the way, and did a fantastic job. I'm really happy with the result -- the quality of the work, the detail... everything. Getting that sectional fixed was the last step in replacing items lost in an HVAC incident, and now my place feels like home again. I highly recommended Rainbow Upholstery if you want excellent, professional work done right. read more

Highly recommend. Taisir reupholstered a twin-mattress-sized couch cushion for me in less than a week. He was very patient with me and my wife while we squabbled in his shop over colors, and then did a fantastic job for a really reasonable price. He even let me pick it up on the weekend after official hours. I'll definitely be back to Rainbow the next time I need re-upholstery. read more

We had Rainbow Upholstery quote reupholstering 6 dining chairs. Tom G. provided a quote from photos. When we visited on Thursday to select fabric, we also brought 2 of the chairs. Tom ordered the fabric immediately. When I checked with him on Monday for a time to deliver the remaining 4 chairs, he informed me he was already done with the two. He called on Tuesday to say the remaining 4 chairs were complete. New fabric, new piping, and new pads in just a few days. The chairs with new pads and new fabric are really comfortable (again). We really appreciate the fast service and the excellent workmanship. We couldn't be happier. Highly recommend Rainbow Upholstery! read more

Taisir is a wonderful human and an expert upholsterer. My project was to recover three leather couch cushions -faded and hard to match with an old style of springs inside foam, Sean's that require a special stitching machine. The upholstery recovery was done perfectly. And efficiently. Highly recommend Rainbow Upholstery. read more

I'd been lugging around a chair for years with the intent to fix it up. I received estimates from many locations in the DC Metro Area. I decided to try Rainbow because it sounded like Tom really new his stuff and the pricing was much better. I am very happy with the work my chair received (see before/after shot posted). The poor thing had loose springs, needed a new bottom and was a heinous yellow velvet mess... now I have a gorgeous chair with a modern flair! read more

We recently engaged Mr. Tom Gharbieh of Rainbow Upholstery to make new foam cushions for our Scandinavian-design mahogany sofa and two accompanying chairs, and also to replace a torn rattan weave seat on a hand-carved mahogany dining chair (both items were originally purchased in Manila, Philippines more than 35 years ago). He visited our home to view the furniture pieces and knew exactly what he had to do even before we could give him any instructions. Tom did an outstanding job in a very short time and was a pleasure to work with. We would highly recommend him for high-quality upholstery work. read more

Rainbow reupholstered some antique dining room chairs with upholstered seats and backs. He did a fabulous job and finished early. Tom is a master craftsman. He was very nice and didn't laugh at my sad attempt to do the job myself (which I quickly gave up on). The chairs are now beautiful. read more

I was so amazed at how Tom turned my furniture around. Its as if it was a whole new set ! Highly recommended :)

Tom did an outstanding job on two pieces of furniture that are family heirlooms, an 8ft bench made by my uncle, and a victorian chair made by my grandfather. On the 8ft bench, Tom redid the webbing, built up the material above the webbing, managed to recovered it with the original leather, repaired the six the legs and, even touched up the area where our puppy chewed it. He also shipped two leather chair cushions, from a chair that my grandfather made, to NY to be remade and destuffed with down. The job was done about a week faster than he promised. It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the workmanship is old-world good. Tom is an old-fashioned craftsman, and is very pleasant and professional. I come from a family of upholsterers, and Tom seems to know his stuff. I highly recommend him. read more

Tom did a very nice job fixing up an old armchair. It is much firmer; you don't sink into it like you did before.
