Decent menu options and nice happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers in addition to daily specials. What really stood out was the service. Everyone had a smile and was incredibly helpful. Cheers to the staff at Sparkies! read more

Nice place and well kept on Highland Rd in a strip mall (which is always suspect if you're not a Coney Island). Modern decor and what looks like a nice bar area. Had dinner here recently after high expectations and a recommendation. Service was accommodating as we requested a booth and they cleaned one up for us (not sure why it wasn't already clean but whatever). Our server was pleasant and friendly, eager to assist and serve. We initially had a lot of hope from the menu as a lot of the dishes seemed like they would be very good and therefore difficult to choose from. Ended up starting with the poke nachos, beef topped pierogis and sweet rolls. The poke nachos had little to no tuna and was just stringy lettuce and sauced chips. Pierogis were nothing more than heated Mrs. T's frozen pierogies with a little topping of flavorless shredded beef and some sour cream. Absolutely no flavor. The sweet rolls were simple/ fine. Just no Texas Roadhouse rolls. Apps get a D at best. Wouldn't order again. For mains had the Beale street chicken. A blackened double chicken breast with mashed potatoes and some kind of kale salad and some type of spicy sauce. Overall nothing great. Chicken was overly seasoned and way too much Sante fe sauce. Had to combine everything on the plate per bite to make it sort of work. Give it a C+. Also tried the sirloin pasta without the cream sauce. Steak was rubbery, tasteless and well undercooked for medium/ medium well. Hated it. Also didn't care for the kids buttered noodles; greasy and flavorless like just about everything else we had. After all the food we got, we came out with a less than good review of this place. I also don't like having to tip in front of the waitstaff, cause they are standing right there in front of you and you end up tipping on the tax, which plays no role in the service. I wouldn't recommend this place to eat; maybe sit at the bar for a few but that's really it. Can't understand how many people were coming in and out of this place knowing there's nothing great to eat here and the kitchen doesn't seem to care about how they cook. read more

Good food, fast and friendly service. One of our favorite places. They have great daily specials.

Sparkies, a phenomenal restaurant nestled within a strip mall. When you walk in you're welcomed with a warm smile from the friendly staff. As you step inside, you're immediately captivated by the inviting decor and the grand bar that lines the left side. Having visited Sparkies multiple times, I can confidently say that every meal I've had here has been an absolute delight. Today, we decided to indulge in their enticing lunch special, which offers a mouthwatering combination of a sandwich, soup, and salad for just $10. Where else can you find such a generous and delicious meal for just $10? The food arrived promptly, and each dish was a testament to Sparkies' culinary expertise. I opted for the chicken salad sandwich, accompanied by a steaming bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and a refreshing Caesar salad. Every bite was a delightful experience, leaving me thoroughly impressed and eager to return to this gem of a restaurant. read more

Sparkies Kitchen & Bar - Lunch special- chicken salad sandwich, broccoli cheddar soup, Caesar salad. - American Near Me - Highland, Michigan

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant that is quite popular. What's great is that the menu is clearly marked what can be made vegetarian or gluten free. Give it a try! Thanks for participating in the Highland and White Lake restaurant week! One suggestion: make the vegetarian burger option an Impossible Burger rather than a black bean burger. read more

Got to restaurant about an hour before closing. Of the 4 meals, on was good. The other three meals were not as expected. The fries were cold and replaced. The quesadilla was ok but the sides had a teaspoon of brown guacamole and warm wilted lettuce. The ahi bowl had undercooked rice. Seemed a non experienced chef served it up.. read more

Home cooking.. plentiful helpings! Margaritas are great! We end up there at least twice a week!

Rice bowls are highly recommended. We had the salmon and steak bowls. Excellent service and great ambiance.

Nice family owned restaurant. Lunch specials are a good deal and the French onion soup is very good

A table for 12 was ready for us at our reserved time, service was great, food was very good.

We've been to Sparkies on several occasions and had an ok experience every time. Service is friendly and relaxed, maybe verging on slow. I ordered a medium steak but the steak must have been cooked on a grill in Pompeii. It was rock hard - unlike the awful soft rock music being played. I got a less nuked steak eventually but it was still medium well+ and nothing was comped to make up for the fact that my husband ate his meal while I made do with some mashed potatoes. Sorry, Sparkies, we've tried a few times but we won't be back again. read more

Great little bar with higher quality food.prices are great and so are the portions. Friendly staff! One of our local favs!

Phew. Beware establishments were the proprietorship is listed on the door, but the kitchen manager has been hastily scraped off. I ordered a sirloin steak and Bleu salad, expecting a nice manly meat slab on a bed of mixed greens. What showed up was 3 oz of raw steak and meteors of gorgonzola on a bed of curly endive so thick you'd swear it was a field in Gilroy. I table tossed it and tried a bite. I expected the tasty meats and Bleu dressing. What it came off as was an uncut choad that's so small that the ball hair coarse endive growing up the sides gags you- and as a bonus, the head comes back and you get the schmegma like blue cheese concoction as a parting gift. Mixed greens means a lot of things. This wad of late season stalky endive is not it. I've never looked at a companions arugula and beets and said to myself: I'm jealous. To wash this travesty down with, they brought me an alleged blue sapphire and tonic: which was actually some sort of gin with flat sprite. Zero bubbles, and sweet. Not for nothing, asked for a slab of ribs to go as I was starving, and got informed they were out of French fries. Not that I eat French fries, but what sort of Sysco centric kitchen runs out of fries? Please hire a food and beverage manager, or your restaurant is gonna die. The manager in congeniality comped a whopping $5. Used to be a decent place. Now it's just a glittery shithole. read more

Always a good deal and never had a bad meal here. I've tried all their items on the $10 lunch special and it's the best deal around. The service is good and plenty of parking. I also love their homemade chips. read more

Definite improvements!! In the past I've had some negative experiences at Sparkies (undercooked burger, overcooked steak) but in the last year or so we gave it another try and so far all our recent experiences have been good! So I'm back to recommending Sparkies again. Last night the three of us ordered the mozzarella wedges, and three entrees. All were very good. I had the ahi tuna bowl and it was good -- spicy and flavorful. My wife had the quesadilla with chicken and mango and it was good, and my daughter had the chicken parm sandwich which had a pesto on top of it. All in all, a good experience. read more

Great lunch deals. Service and ambiance is always great. Burger or soup salad and soup for $10

This is a secret gem for this area! Although located in a strip mall, Sparkies has the best lunch deal in the area. $10 for soup, salad and sandwich or burger with chips/fries with a drink which includes coffee. They have other other options like the BLT for the lunch special which is my go to because it's large and delicious. I havnt tried the rest of the menu because we're always here for lunch but the service is great and will rave about the lunch special. Anything that comes out of the kitchen looks great. read more

Had what was quite possibly the best ribs and fries I've ever had today. The fries were super crispy and tasty and the ribs were fall off the bone tender. I had them with honey molasses barbecue sauce which was sweet and a bit spicy. My husband had the jambalaya and thought it was delicious as well. Our server was fast and friendly. There were a lot of people in the restaurant for an early dinner so it was a bit loud, but not too loud for conversations. read more

Good for lunch special soup and sandwich combo. Tried it for dinner. Ordered a chicken rice bowl. Sent it back because rice was lukewarm. Second time tasted good. Bowl was pricey at $18. Came with small amount of meat. My husband said the squash soup was excellent. read more

I would give this place about a 3.5. I liked the vibe and decor, it had an updated bar feel. This place seems like it has been here for awhile, so I am not sure if it was modernized, but I do like the look. It seems pretty popular and they do not take reservations so on a weekend if you do not get here early there will be a wait. The drinks were good, we had an expensive tropical drink and a breakfast stout. There must have been a special on the beer because it was very reasonable. We got the Bangkok chicken sandwich which was very crispy and delicious. The spicy slaw though tasted like it was just made with store bought spicy mayo but that was not the main feature of it and was on the side anyway. The appetizer sampler was good but I feel like they could have made more than one Reuben egg roll. It was really delicious but when you order the egg roll alone, it looks like they only give you two, so for the price, I could have used more of either the chicken, egg roll, or the cheese sticks. But still pretty good. The steak pasta was meh, nothing to write home about or order again. The steak was good, but the pasta was not that saucy and the sauce did not taste like a parm cream sauce. The mushrooms, gargonzola, and asparagus were good. They were put on the side and I used them on the potatoes on the app. The French onion dip was small, cold, and the soup was cold. The meat was not that tender either. We also got a cheesecake slice to go. It was well baked, creamy moist cheese cake and good crust. The service was wonderful. The staff was attentive. Not only did the server check in several times, a person I believe to be the manager also worked the room to make sure customers were taken care of and having a good time. So overall, it was a good experience. But now that we have visited this place and Stella's Table, we would probably be more regulars at Stella's since that menu more suited our palate. But the happy hour here does sound pretty good. read more

Food was good! Bought a Jerk Turkey and Hero Club. Both had the right balance of meat with vegetables and flavor. Jerk Turkey was very good and flavor was the right amount of heat and mix spices. Great ambience and service was on top of refills, dipping sauces, etc. highly recommend. read more

Everything was wrong from the get go. We sat at the bar, one of the servers had her drink sitting on the bar as they now have moved the computer order station from behind the bar to on the bar. Then a drink was spilled on my companion as the server threw the dirty dishes into the container that was continently placed under his bar stool. My black and blue was no where near the quality it used to be. They used a slice of blue cheese instead of fresh blue cheese crumbles and the fries were cold. By the time they brought new fries we were done with our meal. It was a total shit show. The bar tender was very unprofessional. It was not a good experience and it will be along time before we return there to eat if we ever return there to eat again. read more

Service was great! Had the ribs, which were good. Pot roast was a hit at the table! Good Happy Hour as well.

Been there for lunch several times. Food is really good. The lunch specials are only $10 and includes 1/2 sandwich, a large cup of soup, a small salad and pop. Worth every penny. Service and ambience shares the 5 star rating. read more

Great spot to hang with a group for a casual dinner. We were out of town visiting family and the four of us stopped by on Sunday night for dinner. We had to wait about 30 mins for a table - there was spots open but heard someone say they didn't have enough staff to cover all the tables. Not a big deal as the bar was spacious enough for us to grab a drink. They had some rotating taps with an decent selection of brews. My bride went with the chicken quesadillas ($11) and really liked them and said the flavors and portion was excellent. I went with the Beale Street Chicken ($17). It was tasty and included two full breasts of chicken - plenty to take home. The other couple with us both had burgers. One ordered the Ghostly Inferno ($12) and liked the burger - and really liked the fries. The other ordered the Deep South ($11) and also liked it and commented on how good her sweet potato fries were as well. Service from Heather was great. We would definitely come back again. read more

Dinner was not bad. I had two bowls of the French onion soup (I had asked for garlic bread to be served at the same time, but it wasn't...). And my wife had the happy hour sliders, which she said were good. Brioche bun, onion strings and a nice beef patty. Waited 14 minutes for the bill; that was the only reason why they lost a star. read more

We love the Makers Mark Salmon. Sadden with the fish & chips this last time. Fish was really mushy. Batter was crisp. I didn't want French fries & was able to swap out for a salad that was very tasty. The place is always cold for me & I catch myself putting my coat back on during my sitting. Wait staff is great. The hostess group truly needs to be better trained. First tried to seat us up front. The place is cold enough & I am surely not going to be seated near where the door is opened a lot. They next tried to seat us near the kitchen. No way!!!!!! I finally point out a table suited to my liking in the middle. The Goldie Locks effect I guess. I watched the next five groups ask the gal to be relocated from where she wanted to seat the group. When you are that wrong, maybe start out asking where the customer would like to be seated. Seriously weak in this area folks. read more

I received an email on 5/2/24 from Suser restaurant group stating that due to my loyalty I was to enjoy $20 off to use at Stella's Table or Sparkies. When we went to the restaurant we were told that the computer company sent those out and they were not accepting them. I wrote to the company and never even got a response. In my opinion, they should honor it since there were no signs saying they were not accepting. Also the waitress said they were going to send a retraction but we never got!!! We were a loyal Sparkies customer and they just lost a good customer read more

So the food was ridiculously good but our service three times in a row at the bar was not so much From being straight up ignored to just forgotten about for long intervals it's hard to say it was that it was anything near great I love the food so I'm sad that the experiences have swayed my husbands opinion on going back for anything other than carry out Also figured I mention that we still do too minimum 30% everywhere we go so I know it can't be that we are giving bad tips (both worked in food industry for 10+ years combined so we understand) read more

Love the food. Carry out service is always phenomenal. Dinning in has always been good experiences too. Friendly staff!

My fiancé and I dined here last week. Our server was polite, but my drink slipped out of her hand and all over my pants. Accidents happen, I get it. I was very considerate and polite with her about it, as I could see her embarrassment. However, I feel she let her embarrassment take concern over serving us. She pretty much only came to the table to take our order and serve us. My fiancé asked if I could receive some kind of compensation for the mishap, and she said she could take the drink off of our bill. She only suggested this after he asked. The manager was also around in the dining room but never came over to apologize or ask if there was anything she could do. So, I sat in soaked jeans, drank my compensated average cocktail, and ate a significantly overpriced (in my opinion) sandwich and French fries. read more
