First visit and it was awesome! We didn't realize but we came 45 mins before they were closing, but you would have never known it. I hate being that person but our waitress was so friendly you woulda thought it was 5pm. The food was great and pricing seemed fair if not on the cheaper end. A staple at our house. Wilson's is a good place to go for cheap and decent food. The waitstaff is really nice and the restaurant is clean. I like getting the bosco sticks and potatoes skins. Their steak bites are pretty good as well. Come in here to watch a game on the many screens they have, have a drink and relax. It's bar food. Plain and simple. On the plus side, we had a server who was friendly and attentive, even though she had a lot of tables. The food itself, not my kinda thing. I'm not one to pick that type of food. My relatives picked the location. I ordered chicken chili and a quesadilla. Both were edible but not anything I was excited about. The food was not good , the menu description did not fit the order . It was a dripping wet taco , with three pieces of shrimp & a few pieces of wilted cabbage & very few fries on the plate . We told our waitress ,Her only response was I will let the manager know . It's sad we had to stop at Kroger for sushi before the show because we left the restaurant hungry .We won't be back . I give a two star because the staff was very good. The food.... I have lived in the neighborhood for years and have been going to Wilsons for years. Generally the food was good. I ordered the NY Strip which in the past has been pretty good. Tonight it was awful, chewy full of tendons and fat, definitely a low quality and tough to cut. The mushrooms on the steak were canned and sautéed, just awful. I knew it was bad when the person walked by who served me this never asked how my food was. I used to stop in and get a decent steak, after two bad meals, I will just not go back. Shame I was a fan of this place. read more

My sister told me about this place. I guess there's new owners or new menu. So my wife and I decided to give it a shot. great comfort food! It's a nice place to just hang out and grab some good food. I got the twin tenderloins. Mashed potatoes were definitely made from scratch and the gravy too. It comes out saucy, so if you're a saucy person tell them to go light on it. My wife got the seafood and chicken combo. Chicken was moist she said and the salmon was really good with the balsamic glaze. We split a small pizza for appetizer. It was pretty good also. Last night my wife and I visited Wilson's Pub n' Grill for the first time. I can honestly say, even though it's kind of hidden, it is worth it! Patty was a wonderful server, and George the owner even came to our table to introduce himself. Decent craft beer listing, and the beer was ice cold (in a good way). I got sliders and fries which were delicious. My wife got a tuna melt with sweet potato fries. I highly recommend this spot, and don't forget to order the Crock-o-dip appetizer! read more

Order of 2 salads, Mac n cheese & French dip took about an hour. Upon arrival, I walked in to find the bartender behind the bar finishing up another to-go customer, & then walked away to help the outside tables, proceeding to come inside, unload the dishwasher, load it back up, fill a few drinks, go back outside, come inside, grab some beers, & go back outside. There was another gentleman walking around, sat a man, checked on a few things... all in all I stood at the bar unacknowledged for about 10 minutes. After the gentleman helped me, the bartender/waitress came back & asked if I had been helped. Our food, was gross. The Mac n cheese was penne pasta with a gross (& too much) cheese. The French dip's au jus was nothing like an au jus, more sweet than salty/beefy, with too much bun & barely any roast beef. The 2 salads I ordered, Michigan & Caesar, were sub-par with way too much lettuce & about a half chicken breast. Disappointed. read more

I used to love this place. Recently ate here and to say epically disappointed would be kind. Waitress was really nice however it was her and 1 other waitress. Instead of the restaurant limiting seating they made these poor girls run around. Which in turn made everything take so long. Food came out room temperature and honesty gross. Sad to say I won't be returning just based on how selfish they seem. More concerned with filling the tables then caring about their staff. read more

A pretty nice spot in Commerce, this would be my go-to as a place to head if literally everything sounds good. They have sandwiches, entrees, and everything in between. I went with a chicken and shrimp creole dish, which reminded me a lot of jambalaya. The shrimp were good, chicken mildly lacking. I did enjoy all of the vegetables and the rice was cooked well. My wife went with the steak Oscar special, which I really enjoyed, with the potatoes and balsamic glaze. I think I would go for this one next time, as each bit was wonderful. All in all, it was a good dinner. My in-laws seem to come here every few weeks, and I can see why. They have lots of options to please any palate, and the service was overall good. read more

WARNING to people with food allergies. Normally, I get excited to see food allergy friendly menus and I wanted to make sure everyone knows that they don't take food allergies seriously (even though they have items listed on the menu). This could be really dangerous and it's very serious! I ordered a meal with a gluten free bun. The food came out wrapped in a flour tortilla and the gluten free bun came on the side. The bartender told me to pick the food out of the flour tortilla and put it on the gluten free bun... all of the toppings were stuck to the tortilla! I was kind of speechless as I would obviously get very ill if i did that. if I had a nut allergy, would they tell me to pick peanuts off a meal and continue to eat it? She was absolutely unfriendly and unwilling to make this right so I could eat. I watched while my family ate and cooked for myself once I got home. My husband said his burger was very average, tasted like a premade patty from GFS or something. Needless to say, it was our first and last visit. read more

Great Burger I had here last night ! Asked for it cooked medium and that's exactly what I recieved unlike most other places. Prices are very reasonable as myself and 2 guests both had burgers with all the fixings. Total bill less than $40 with a tip. I live over a half hour drive from there but I will make that drive even though I'm surrounded by bars here in the Royal Oak area ! read more

When you walk in you immediately see the beautiful stone wall, open ceilings and dark wood accents/trim. The bar looked cozy not real large. They have TV's everywhere and spacious booths. I must admit the first couple times in here were less than favorable but they worked the kinks out and the last two times were great. The pizza is some of the best you've had, I guarantee! The waitress suggested roasted red pepper and pineapple? We figured why not and wow what a flavor pairing. We had heard lots of people in the area talk about this new bar and grill, so on an evening when we didn't want to drive far for a meal we went to check it out. Walking in I had two thoughts: First, it was smaller than I expected. Only about 30 tables and a bar. Second, it was nicer inside than expected. The atmosphere is the highlight of dining here (and I think maybe it fools people into enjoying the place more than they would otherwise), it's deep wood and comfortable lighting earned it an extra star in this review. The service was fine (not great, not bad) and at 6pm on a Thursday evening we didn't have to wait for a table (but they weren't empty either). I hear, however, they're packed to the gills on Friday and Saturdays. The food is where I was really let down. They are proud enough about serving frozen grocery store food that they put the brand names on their menu (Kraft mac and cheese for the kids and Bosco sticks for the appetizers). This lost yet another star in my book. I wasn't starving so a few of us split a pizza and got salads. Granted, I just got a house salad, but boy was it sad!! (see photo) Iceberg lettuce (with maybe a little romaine thrown in), shaved carrots, and a couple tomatoes thrown in the bottom. This was airline food, people. Very disappointing. The pizza was, well, pizza. My wife said it reminded her of "up north" bar pizza but I'd argue it wasn't even as good. TONS of cheese and toppings that looked fresh, but didn't taste that great. My mom did get the biggest glass of white wine I've ever seen, though, so maybe this is the place to come for a glass of wine on their outdoor patio. (Also, just a side note, if you're a vegetarian or try and eat ethically, good luck...that's why I ended up with a sad salad and a so-so veggie pizza.) I'm sure we'll go here again, but it won't be on my dime. If someone wants to meet us there AND pay, I'll go...but if it's my money, I'll heavily suggest somewhere else. read more

I usually don't leave many reviews but this place is ridiculous. The food was okay, but let me tell you that the service by our waitress was horrible. My friend ordered the shrimp Alfredo and when it came out it had a ton of black pepper on it which she is mildly allergic to. I then asked our waitress to replace her meal as she should not have to spend 20$ on something she can't really enjoy. The waitress approached the situation so poorly and when my friend asked for chicken ceaser wrap (without chicken because she is vegetarian) the waitress looked at her like she was stupid and proceeded to say "so you don't want chicken on a chicken ceaser wrap and obviously no pepper either?" in the snobbiest tone. I just can't handle servers who are rude and non accommodating. Not coming back! read more

We have been to Willsons several times in the past 5 months. The food is average. Ordered a French Dip with a side dish of Mac n Cheese. The French Dip was meaty but the au jus seemed salty. The Mac n Cheese was very boring. No crusty top or even a cheese with some zip. I have had a pizza there and did find that good. read more

Got carry out from here and it was REALLY good I live about 15 mins away and it was still hot when I got home we ordered the pizza which was really good it's a square pizza with crispy edges we loved it the burger was also great cooked perfectly and we also had the house salad which was big and VERY fresh which is something I can appreciate will definitely order again read more

I have been here three times total and I don't think I will ever go back. The wait staff is extremely rude, I don't know why their employees are so angry but that seems like an issue the owners need to rectify ASAP! I came here with 13 of my co-workers after a long day at the office looking to have a nice relaxing drink and some apps on the patio. What we experienced was no where close to that. The woman severing us demanded that we all take out our ID's and put them on the table in front of us as if we were 16 trying to use a fake ID. All of us were of legal drinking age and I was insulted that we were treated like that. Drinks are no joke! I was feeling damn good after 1, so of course I had 2. Burger is one of the best I've ever had. Tasted char grilled. Got the steak fries, which were served hot and crisp. They have a lot of toppings to choose from on the build your own burger section. Small salad was a very good size, made with fresh greens and home made salad dressing. Pizza looked amazing. I'd like to try it sometime, but I'm not sure I could go there without getting the burger. Service was great. Nancy was very attentive, had a nice personality and was knowledgeable about the menu. Well this a dive bar in a nut shell: poor service, mediocre food, and ok drink prices Let's start with the service. I ordered a two hearted and they served me a bud light. When I told the waitress she had an attitude as if I was lying, saying "you were poured a two hearted." I drink enough beer to know the difference between the two. I told her "100% this is bud light." She went to the bartender and came back apologizing and fixed the issue. Onto the food. Burger was ok. Too much sauce that made it sloppy and made the bun soggy. Fries were good. Mac and cheese was horrific and likely from a box. Took a long time to get the food as well. I hate to write a 5 star review for this place because quite frankly, they are already packed enough. They are located in a restaurant starved area full of residents just dying for places to spend their money, but somehow not many restaurant owners have figured that out. The area also is in desperate need of a produce store like Papa John's but I digress. First of all, ignore the reviews from 2009. That was when they first opened. They have worked out the kinks. Second of all, this place shouldn't get reviews as if it is a foodie place. It's a bar, with great food for a bar. They definitely could work on the salad menu but what they have is ok for now (please add a greek salad, a real greek salad because that mediterranean salad is not a greek salad). They have some really good specials and I go out of my way to be there for the fish specials. The pizza is hit and miss depending on the cook that night but when it is a hit it is really really good. The ribs are also great when they are great, but can be tough and molasses flavored on other nights. The staff is amazingly friendly, my husband and I feel like part of their family, they recognize us every time. Some of the waitresses seem to keep track of my hair style even LOL. I really wish they would buy out the cell phone store next door and expand because there are many nights now where we can't even get anywhere near the bar, which is sad - there is nowhere else in the area to go that we enjoy. They would have to change the bar if they expanded though and that would make me sad. When we are lucky enough to sit at the bar and eat, and watch a sporting event on the TWO large flat screen TV's right in front of us, we are entertained by the bar staff. Try to get in on a Friday night for a table and you can expect to wait. read more

It's hard to define this place. They are a normal bar and grill but they choose to charge more for everything. It's not that much classier from a watering hole. Just a little bit, but they are in an end-cap of a strip mall. Their food is mostly Sysco, while foods, or gfs based. Those factors makes it hard for me to choose this bar and grill as anything more, except for the prices. They probably need to do a new market study. The food is better across the street, and freshly made. Also, there are three other local watering holes with better deals and offers for drinks. The bartenders make some stiff cocktails, and the staff are all very nice. I think some adjustments to quality and prices and a very knowledgeable head bartender are a must. & this place does tend to have its share of regulars. read more
