my 8 year old loved having a bday party at spare time. Pizza was good, 2 hours was more than enough time.

They have upgraded the arcade and it is really cool. Games are a bit pricey. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Games are all cool! Came here with my son and it's great to see a spot like this back in town. Worth coming here. Food is good too. Great upgrade Spare Time! Keep it up. read more

Still amazing! And it's going to get better because of all the renovating. Right now they expanded the arcade and it's massive!! Best arcade ever ya'll!! They lessened the lanes a tad but they updated the seating, tables and light fixtures and it's fabulous! I can't wait to see what they do with the old bar and grill! I had my 5 year old daughters 5th birthday party here last month and it was glorious! Our host was helpful and sweet and super energetic! My daughter was sooo happy!! I would have updated this place to 5 stars if it wasn't so inconvenient in the food department. Usually you can order from the bar and grill non stop during a party which is awesome but since it's not open right now I had to bring in A LOT of food and drinks for the guests. Hosted our annual holiday staff party for the 3rd time and the service has always been great, but this year it exceeded my expectations. The shift lead Savannah was phenomenal in her level of attentiveness to our group and the positivity she added. Savannah was professional, fun, incredibly knowledgeable about the venue and I was grateful to have her working that night and she was great with my party. Our server Zaire was friendly, attentive and was great with assisting us with any food or beverages we needed as well. Pretty fun place for friends, family , events. Laser tag is great - food is very sub par but I guess what can you expect from a bowling alley. Ordered a basic cheese pizza figured can't be that hard to mess up pizza but it tasted horrible You can tell they use cheap sauce, and cheap cheese w/a pre-made crust base. This place was great for my sons 10th bday party. Bowling, laser tag, and arcade all rolled into one... can't beat that with a stick. 20$ per kid but it was well worth it. Plus they get a bowling pass for a return visit and 5$ for the arcade each! Ordered pizza for everyone, definitely not a pizzeria pizza but the kids didn't seem to mind; the adult were a different story there was plenty of leftovers. Overall ok, I am disappointed they don't have private rooms like they used to. Communication seems to lack on a few aspects, apparently they were trying to call me to verify everything was on track but they never left a message so I never knew until they email, great but the time of the event was extended so I thought maybe I had the initial length time wrong so I contacted everybody to let them know. However, when I got there the email information was wrong. I thought I had rented a room like before which is why I scheduled 2 months in advance but I get there to find out they do not longer have rooms. We have celebrated my kids birthday party there for years but I am not planning to do another party there. I gave it a 3 stars because the kids did have fun. It is nice place overall. read more

The bowling alley is great and all.. But city sports and grille is what this reviews about. I used to be a regular and be there every Thursday until they changed up their staff and got rid of all of the wonderful staff that they had except the great Pat and Charlie. So besides the waitresses being weird.. The foods still great (buffalo chicken flatbread) the drinks are good and the prices are normal. Overall a great place to hang out. Unless you want to actually talk to someone I wouldn't go on a karaoke night or when they have a band.. Too loud! read more

Make sure you check your glass before you take a sip of your drink. There was mold in my cup. When I brought it up with the bartender and management they informed me that the only color mold could be was green not black and its normal to have black stuff floating in a drink. I personally would never go back to this establishment. If i could put anything other than one star I would because I think giving this bar more than one star is an atrocity!!!! read more

The City Sports grille is nice. We've been there several times in the last few years, and the drinks are pretty good, and the atmosphere is not bad either. Personally I think when bands play they could turn the music down a little bit. It always seems I have a slight ringing in my ears after I leave the place. The bowling is fun. They have galaxy(nighttime), all kinds of specials on the bowling, but again, the music in the alley could be turned down a little for my taste. At the bar or in the alley, you can order all kinds of food and drinks. We have gotten wings there before, and other snacks too without a problem. Last night however, we ordered the extra large super sized hand cut fries with gravy. Save your money order wings instead. The fries were disgusting. The fries were way overcooked, dark, dark brown, yet still soggy. They tasted overdone too, burnt. And the gravy was just a tasteless brown mess dribbled on it with the consistency of used motor oil. Just a big huge pizza sized mess. I couldn't even eat them they tasted so bad. The fries needed to be cooked a lot less time, and the gravy needed something, anything, to give it some flavor. They definitely lost a star there. We will probably go back there for bowling for sure, and for the bar too. We might even order wings or try something else on the menu, but I can tell you that I will never, ever, EVER, order fries there again, or anything with gravy on it for that matter. The most incompetent organization I have ever dealt with. I've been to my fair share of bowling facilities, but this one was by far the worst of all. I went with some friends, thinking that it might be a fun place to go and spend time, but instead, we were met with a 2 hour wait time and a plethora of children running around. We waited 2 hours for some lanes to open, only to discover that the employee had failed to mention that there was a waiting list, which pushed back the time an additional 30 minutes. The arcade is just games taken from Dave N Busters, along with their payment system and re-branded, and to eat in the venue with any decent food, you need to be at least 21 years old. All in all, you're better off going to Bowl-O-Rama in Newington or Duckpin bowling in Hartford, or even Dave N Busters, because at least the employees there aren't as beef-headed. read more

Excellent time having our son's 9th birthday party here! Ashley was our hostess and she was on top of every detail...she made sure all the kids had their bowling shoes, refilled drinks regularly and made sure everyone was fed. Love bowling and this isn't too bad of a place to go but BE WARNED! We just went a couple days a go and the bartender took an extra $10 out of my boyfriend's tab. She gave herself a tip, her name was Brittany. Be careful with this woman, if we don't tip you then maybe you didn't deserve a tip to begin with?? Luckily my boyfriend called them and they did a refund right away (clearly this happens all the time with her). We went to the night time bowling thing where they turn off the lights and whatnot which is great, but also a lot of drunks at that time and there's two guys who are always there and they are CLEARLY high on something, stay away from them... We were there for a birthday party this weekend...the renovations created an upscale atmosphere...the cozy booths to sit in while you wait your turn to bowl is quite the change from plastic benches at other bowling alleys. For a birthday party, I highly recommend. The party host took care of everything from serving pizza, cake and drinks and directed the kids from the lanes to the gaming area and lasertag room. Had my daughters birthday here and it was fabulous! Was really impressed with all the renovations!! My daughter had a blast running around the arcade and the bar & restaurant had amazing customer service!! I went a few weeks ago, opened a tab and ended up paying cash after I specifically told her before I ordered that I didn't want my card charged not only did I pay $20 for my bill but my card was also charged for the same bill so I basically paid twice. Took days to go back to my card. Then I went back Friday night. Got charged for more than I should have PLUS they charged someone else's check into my card! read more

The wife and I went for the Monday special they advertised. $10 unlimited laser tag or arcade for three hours. It took one of the managers at least ten minutes to even get us the came cards. We went to play and one still didn't work. Once that was fixed, we went to play and the machines still weren't working. The assistant manager then tells us that the games where you win prizes or tickets aren't part of the deal because "then you would just keep playing until you win." Well, duh. Isn't that the point? I asked if any of these stipulations were on the flier or written anywhere and he said no. read more

Let me begin by saying the facility was great. Clean and up to date. My group and I arrived at 7pm to go laser tagging for my husbands birthday. To begin with, the cashier tried charging me $48 for my husband and I to play 2 games on laser tag. I was very confused and told her several times I thought it was wrong. After a few minutes back and forth, she asked her manager and was told I was right, and it was $24 for my husband and I. At first I was told 7:15pm was the next opening. After paying, she said that she read the schedule wrong and it would really be 7:45pm. Not a huge deal, so we all played arcade games to pass the time. While we were playing games the same girl came up to us to say that a family with small kids signed up for 7:45pm (after we had signed up, so I am not sure why they had preference) and would we mind waiting until 8pm. It was not ideal, but we waited for the family, thinking that they had small kids so we would let them go first. By 8pm we were excited and waiting on the couches waiting to be called in. We observed the same girl and a man at the desk looking at us and looking at the schedule several times. After about 5 mins the man walks up to us saying there was another schedule conflict and that we would have to wait until 8:45pm. At this point none of us were very happy. Especially since some of the group traveled about 45 mins to get there. I asked if we could get a free game or some sort of compensation out if this. I was told to ask the bowling desk. I did so. I was handed coupons for a free game of bowling and I asked if I could use them then, and was told I could. So I cut the coupons out and handed it to the people. They took the coupons and proceeded to tell me they don't work after 6pm. We were so disappointed and fed up at this point. We did not want to spend even more money in the arcade, so we basically just waited it out until 8:45pm. My issue is that we kept getting pushed back. If we were told from the start that it would not be available until 8:45pm, we would have had time to make plans, maybe go shopping elsewhere and come back. Maybe there needs to be a better scheduling system. Disappointed. read more

First time I have ever went. I had so much. First, let me say I loved the staff. They were all very welcoming and friendly. Second, the laser tag arena is amazing. I like its unique design. Newly renovated bowling alley with an updated arcade, added laser tag, and sports bar attached. The bowling alley has rope LED lights down the alleys and a giant tv playing music videos to amp up your party. The attached sports bar has too many tvs to count. They recently got rid of a pool table area and added more seating toward the back. The staff can pour you one of the many beers on tap that generally range from your domestic Miller, Bud, Sam Adams, Yuengljng, to a few rotating micros; same for bottle beers too. The bartenders are happy to pour you any cocktail you want or lookup if they don't know offhand, if they have the the liquor of course. The selection is not for high end cocktails as this is a sports bar. Speaking of service, the bartenders and servers are good depending on how busy it is, especially when football is on. With the recent overhaul they got rid of the free popcorn they had in the bar to amp up kitchen sales. I've never been a fan of the food from experience but the nachos were decent. Not sure if things have turnaround in that area. A Bristol staple, this place is consistent for beers and always having the game on. read more

Told us at 2 we had to wait until 4:30 because of a birthday party. They said there will be open lanes at 4:30. Asked about holding a lane, told us reserving costs $80. We come back at around 3:30 or so, and they tell us again to come at 4:30 for open games ("our best option"). Came at 4:20, and there was a wait list with 5 groups ahead of us and we'd have to wait at least half an hour. No, not happening. They didn't tell us about the wait list, why? Wasted hours of our day. Wouldn't recommend. Also it's filled with little kids and noisy. read more

I can only speak for the City Sports Grille as I did not bowl... I came here recently on a Saturday night for a birthday party, there were various games of sport on what seemed to be a thousand televisions. Everywhere I looked I was blasted with some sort of ball being thrown, which is spectacular. It half looked like at any moment, someone would yell some keyword or passphrase, a button would be pushed, the sound of various clanks of mechanics would sound from behind the walls, a Rube Goldberg machine would be activated resulting in tables and betting machines coming out of the walls and it would turn in to a horse race telecast lounge much like Winners you see around the state, but I digress, none of that happened, you all just pictured it though didn't you, fun right? There are plenty of places to sit. At the time there were empty couches in a lounge area that as I walked by had eaten wings sitting on the arm of the couch and looked cold which suggested to me they had been there for a while and at ONE time looked appetizing. They have tables and a nice horseshoe design bar. The food choices were a plenty, I myself opted for the chicken tacos, the chicken was shredded and incredibly bland but the fresh cut french fries MORE than made up for the blandness, as did the price, and the presentation. The prices are amazing here, you can come here, enjoy a drink and a whole meal of food, get out of the house, and not have to worry about breaking the bank, not many places like this left around. There was one bar tender who was incredibly friendly, the other not so much but overall a very decent experience. If I'm ever in the area I wouldn't be apprehensive about trying it again. read more

So this is a local bowling alley that has been revamped of the last couple of years and now has laser tag and blacklight bowling has a redemption center for the arcade games and has more modern machines for everything like any bowling alley now and then it doesn't. Some games were up and running some were down or need to be fixed but that's not that big of a deal. the food is pretty basic pizza hot dogs hamburgers french fries for a bowling alley reasonably priced. the bar area has great potential and they do have a karaoke DJ that is really cool. a girl DJ on Thursday nights and occasionally they have some bands.they really need to promote the bar more and bring in bigger bands and have some more events and then advertise them and they think that the bar area could really have great business but overall very clean staff is always very kind and nice and friendly bartenders make good drinks. read more

Come here often with family, friends, and daughter. Most of the time is a great, family friendly experience. I will say though the blond bartender is not even worth the one star option I had. Completely inappropriate, rude, and unprofessional. If you're on the lanes, the servers I've seen have been absolutely wonderful, but stray far from the bar. read more

All around great place for bringing kids. Cool place to hang for teens. Average place for young adults looking to have a few drinks and go play some air hockey. The arcade is slightly expensive IMO. It's done like Dave and busters and money is used via game card. None of these games should cost more than $1.00 to play. And some should be $0.50 to play. It doesn't seem to get much action in there and I think that may be the problem. I mainly go for drinks, air hockey, laser tag, and bowling. Other than that they have nice lanes and a decent staff. I've been coming here since I was a child and it just has that nostalgic feel for me. As for the bar and food: I haven't eaten anything beside the poutine which was pretty good. And drinks are average price. Bartenders are fast and friendly. It's been a first stop kinda place or a back up when plans fall thru. BUUUUUT huge disappointment when they turned the pool room into lounge. But hey, business seems alright. And I still go! Hahah cheers! read more
