When I came in to file my 2025 taxes, I realized--with my boyfriend's help--that I've likely been overpaying all along. They wanted to charge me more than $290 to prepare my return, which is unreasonable for a fairly simple tax situation.On top of that, they refused to include my Goodwill donations, claiming I couldn't deduct them. When I went home and filed online myself, I was able to enter those charitable donations without any problem--and I actually received a larger refund because of it.The situation got even more frustrating when the website's facial recognition feature stopped working, causing delays. Later, they emailed to offer to file my taxes for free, which I agreed to--but instead, they offered coupons instead of actually honoring that promise. Now I'm stuck waiting more than six weeks for my taxes to even reach the IRS.After this experience, I doubt I'll return to H&R Block--especially if I can find a more affordable and transparent service elsewhere.
