When we were in the market…read morefor a general contractor to build our two-bedroom/two-bath ADU in San Marino, we interviewed several general contractors. Mike Maman of MF Construction was one of them. Mike showed us several of his projects as well as his own custom home. We were extremely impressed with the end results. After reviewing several competitive bids, we selected Mike because of his 40+ years of experience in building high-quality homes. During the construction of our ADU, Mike was just a text or phone call away. He kept us informed of upcoming events and visited our job site almost daily, sometimes more than once a day. He was present at all 12 of the City inspections. Every step along the way, we noted the high quality of materials Mike uses from the Ganahl lumber to the thick insulation and roofing paper to the copper pipes and shower hot mop, and mold-resistant drywall. Mike uses materials which meets or exceeds code requirements. Everyone on Mike's team is extremely skilled in his/her craft, many having worked with him for decades. Mike is old school and does not take any shortcuts. Along with high quality construction and materials, Mike is extremely efficient. Our ADU was completed in four months, as promised. Progress was made every day. From the rough work to the finishes, Mike scheduled his team members just in time which resulted in an extremely efficient and smooth workflow. Mike builds with his heart. His passion is infectious which inspires his team members to do their best work. The results are evident in the finished product. Our neighbors and friends are extremely impressed with the quality and build of our ADU. If you value a well-built home and appreciate attention to detail, you will not be disappointed with Mike Maman. You WILL get what you pay for with MF Construction.

I called Quality Concrete Floor Leveling as one of a couple of companies to provide me a bid for…read moreadding self-leveling to my very uneven and out of level wood subfloor that was about 50% plywood and 50% 4 inch T&G 1x. I also had another bigger name in the industry here in Orange County come out to bid the job. The experience between the two companies was night and day in terms of the bidding process. I emailed photographs and a detailed description to both companies. Doug from Quality had some questions, and said he had to come out to take a look at the specifics before a proper recommendation and bid could be provided. The other company was fairly lazy and sent me a bid based on my own measurements and ideas of what was needed, and only came out to look after I insisted. Doug also explained every aspect of each step needed in the process, and provided a couple of options for what I wanted to have done, based on budget and preference. His bid was detailed and broken down in terms of what was being completed. He was also courteous and well spoken. Also, and this is a big one...I asked him to do me a favor (not in the original bid), which he agreed to. When it was not completed, he actually apologized and sent out 2 guys the next day to do it. I did not even have to ask. He offered and did not make up an excuse or try to make me feel bad about it. That shows the character of the person behind the company, and I am confident that if something were to go wrong in the future he would stand behind his work. This is a rare quality in trades these days. On a side note, I also had the flooring installers bid the self-leveling. Had I not had Quality Concrete Floor Leveling out to bid the job, I probably would have gone with them, not knowing what was actually needed to properly prepare the surface for self-leveling. Nobody wants to have to pay for an unplanned expense before adding flooring, but if you're going to do it, it's worth doing it right the first time.

We contacted several floor leveling companies, including Quality. Doug the owner came out with his…read moreforeman Mark, and they estimated the job. The bid was competitive, and I liked their style, so we hired them. Their crew showed up on time with the owner running the crew. All and all the job went well. The crew were all respectful and seemed to get along well. Doug let me know there were a few things to fix, but they would take care of it quickly. His foreman came out the next day and finished up the job. The leveling worked out really well. There are a couple of spots I'm hoping they can improve on, but Doug was upfront about those when he bid the job. So, bottom line, I would hire them again and probably will when we do some additional concrete work.

Shai and his team are just one tweak away from finishing our beautiful bathroom shower! From start…read moreto finish I found Shai helpful, honest and easy to talk to. We are so happy with our gorgeous shower. He explained what was possible, what was impossible and what was maybe possible! Even when we chose hinges that happened to be the most expensive hinges in the hardware catalogue he explained that each component has a budget and those hinges were way over the shower door budget, but he wanted us to have them if we really loved them, so he would split the cost with us. They WERE pretty spiffy hinges (if you can believe that hinges can be that fancy) but when he told us we had picked out $750 hinges we said, oh no forget it! That's crazy. But he said, well before you say no way, i want you have what you like, so he offered to split it. We would not have added on $750, but for $375, we decided to go for the crazy hinges! We had a pipe in our condo building that needed repair which really took time to get approved for them to continue our project. Shai spoke with the building manager, several times, made them 2 proposals to fix the pipes, and very quickly (once the Board finally approved) fixed it in half a day. At every stage of demo and construction, Shai made sure we were happy and on track! And the price he quoted us on day one, was the price we paid. We needed more grout, more tile, and a few extra visits to change the recessed box and he never said yes but it will cost extra, he delivered what he promised on day 1, which was us, as happy satisfied clients.
