Omg the reviews here weren't lying - the crepes are SO good! The smoked salmon Atwater crepe is delectable, the OJ in the mimosa tasted fresh-squeezed, and the flat white was so smooth I didn't even need to add sugar. The ambience is lovely with a French soft rock station playing in the background, and the service is friendly and prompt. A+

When In Montreal, you should probably eat some crepes at least once, and Spanel is a wonderful place to do so. I liked it so much I'm considering making a return trip, even though I'm only in Montreal for a long weekend. I ordered a Tatin sweet crepe. The crepe dough was soft, pleasantly sweet, and has the perfect texture and lightness. For fillings, Spanel cooked the apples very nicely. Meanwhile, the Ice cream paired well with everything and offered a contrast in textures and temperatures. Finally, I adored the salted butter caramel sauce! It tied everything together and was straight-up delicious! When it came to the service, it was a touch slow to start but became much better and more attentive afterward.

Chocacao- Nutella, strawberries, creme fraiche, choco sauce. Addictively good!

Holy crepe! ;) The best crepes ever! Great coffee. I came here in a group of 7 around 1pm and though they were really busy, we were seated within a few minutes. My kids enjoyed their Hot Chocolate and "Chocacao" crepes full of the classic goodness of Nutella, strawberries, creme fraiche, and chocolate sauce. Then, I was super impressed with my literally green and savory "Masonneuve" crepe of spinach, asparagus, avocado, and pesto. The crepes here are perfectly thin and just the right texture. With excellent food, drinks, and service, this spot can always give me the crepes! ;) NOTES/TIPS: **Extremely fair prices. **Gender neutral restrooms. **Beer, wine, proesecco, cocktails. **They also offer salad, soups, omelets, and other brunchy items.

Super good food and friendly people working there. If you have time, stop in and get a latte and crepe (I still dream about them).

Some of the best crepes I've had! Prices were very reasonable, and portions are humongous. They Chococao crepe was delicious--piled high with homemade whipped cream and stuffed with a good amount of strawberries and nutella. My partner got the Kinder Bueno crepe, which was two sticks of Bueno wrapped with crispy crepes and dunked into a bowl of whipped cream, drizzled with salted caramel. Just pure decadence. Was way too sweet for even me but the portion is smaller so that might be alright if you're craving something like that! The savoury crepes are good as well, certainly not dainty little savoury affairs. They add cheese, either emmental or a hard cheddar, to their savoury crepes which, when melted, provide such richness and flavour. They also provide some maple syrup on the side which I imagine pairs well with most of them as well. So delicious and will definitely be back again if I'm in town. Service was also outstanding--very friendly and attentive. You can really get the sense that they're proud of their restaurant and they should be!

Even it was a bit drive from the hotel that we stayed in downtown, but I am so glad my friend found this place when we visited Montreal. Spanel really serve up delicious and mouthwatering crepes! We opted for the simple savory crepes and they were really good.

Walked in on a cloudy morning after missing the bus and trekking 20 minutes from my hotel. It was totally worth the walk!! The cappuccino and Mike End crepe (eggs, mushroom, spinach, aged cheddar) were amazing! Delicious and not overly salty or oily. The space is very inviting and homey, with some light music playing in the background. The waitress was catering to multiple tables and greeting incoming customers. When you're in Montreal, this is a must stop!

We arrive at Spanel for brunch. The restaurant is packing up. We didn't have the reservations, luckily they were able to sit us. The service is top notch. Every staff were darlings even though they are rushing with the packed restaurant. We ordered La sante crepe, Kinder Crepe and from the menu du jour crepe with eggs and salmon. Each dish were below average. Some dish were overly salty, and some were overly sweet. Despite the great service; food made us feel sick. Personally, I felt nauseous, even my fellow friends felt the same. Most likely, we went on a wrong day and our food was not cooked up to a great level. I have hard time to believe if the restaurant's food were to be bad how can this place be so running so well. Hopefully, it was just one time, but I would be hesitant to go back again.

We came here on vacation in search of traditional crepes. Everything was delicious and I love that there were so many gluten-free options. The chef was so nice, too. I highly recommend Spanel!

Incredibly prepared crepes with many topping options named after Montreal boroughs paired with lovely lemonade on a hot day and a beautiful backyard terrasse makes the experience at @spanel_mtl worthy of many revisits.

Lovely spot in Little Burgundy serving a multitude of buckwheat crepes from sweet to savory, each named after a borough in Montreal. We sat on the terasse in the back of the restaurant providing plenty of greenery and umbrellas for shade, and away from the hustle of busy Notre Dame Street. I opted for the Little Burgundy crepe, chosen purely cause I couldn't decide from all the yummy choices and as hommage to the neighbourhood i was grubbing in; bacon, cheddar, spinach, apples and onions stuffed my perfectly made crepe or rather "galette". Delicious and perfectly portioned, served with coffee and fruit for brunch. Washed it down with a kir breton, cider with crème de cassis, which was perfect! Overrall, an affordable and great spot for yummy brunch on busy Notre Dame Street.

2nd time here, had to make it a stop when we're in Montreal! First time ordered the Westmount which is duck confit, caramelized onions, and potatoes, we were able to add on top Foie Gras! Omg! Literally have been dreaming of that amazing Crepe since, when we returned definitely had to order. Unfortunately they no longer offer with Foie Gras but, the crepe was still delicious! My fiance ordered on one with goat cheese, arugula, proscuitto and balsalmic drizzle which was also great choice. There is a great selection for breakfast/lunch, whether you are looking for a sweet or savory crepe. One thing to warn, it is Bee season, there are alot of pesky bees at the outdoor seating.

On my kid's last full day in Montreal, we were walking around Old Montreal, deciding what to do for…read morelunch, when we realized, we need to have a quintessentially French meal - but something light, and crepes immediately came to mind. And this creperie was centrally located on the main drag (Rue St. Paul), and I know it's been here for years and years, as I've passed the sign for eons. So in we went! The restaurant is located up a flight of stairs and there is no elevator, FYI, so if you are mobility challenged, this would not be ideal. Upstairs, the interior is warm and chalet-like, with wooden planks on walls, exposed brick, lots of light from the windows, and wall shelving containing European and Quebec chocolates, maple syrups, etc. Behind the counter you can see the guy making the crepes one by one. Pretty legit. We wanted to get a savory and a sweet crepe and share them both. We first ordered a chicken and cheese crepe (my kid LOVES chicken) but we were told they had no chicken (strange, at lunch-time in a busy restaurant in a busy part of town, eh? Chicken is so....basic). So we opted for a cheese and asparagus crepe. For the dessert crepe we ordered a classic strawberry crepe. We said we'd share them both and have the strawberry one "for dessert", thinking they'd bring out the savory one first. Perhaps there was a language barrier, but the server brought out both crepes at the same time. Oh well. Both crepes were made with the PERFECT crepe-pancake: super thin, delicate, with the perfect firmness and perfect sweetness. I've not had better crepes even in France. As for the fillings....we weren't that keen on the cheese and asparagus crepe. The asparagus was stringy, and the cheese was way too salty. This savory crepe came with a small salad on the side and, for me, this salad was the best. part of this dish; the lettuce was super fresh and the salad dressing was delicious. The strawberry crepe was wonderful: perfectly filed with the right amount of sweetened fresh strawberries and small dollops of fresh whipped cream. Definitely the strawberry crepe was the hit of the meal. The cheese-asparagus crepe cost $17 and the strawberry one, $15. I thought these prices somewhat high but I guess, for freshly made crepes in a touristy part of town, it's par for the course.

The interior of this second floor restaurant is small and cute. They have a large selection of crêpes to choose from, so if you're feeling sweet or salty, there's a variety of options. We got my go-to Nutella with strawberry and banana and a savory chicken and bacon. The crêpes were good and hit the spot. The plus side is the restaurant is located in the heart of old town Montréal, but thankfully the prices were reasonable. The service is very chill, it has definitely more of a cafeteria feel to it than a sit down establishment. So if you're looking for something quick with no frills, Crêperie St. Paul is a good option.
