Decent food. For some reason, they gave me small chicken wings with chicken and waffles (weird choice). Also, they charge extra for strawberries with the waffle and gave me one strawberry, lol. Drinks are terrible. My boyfriend got a jasmine tea that tasted like straight up soap. He says, "I believe it is one of the worst teas I've ever had." His earl gray was also terrible (but better than the jasmine). My raspberry latte was subpar as well. Service is good. I enjoyed my food, tea, the odd decor, the staffs was friendly and this seems like a nice spot. The orange blossom tea I sweetened with agave was flavorful. The turkey bagel sandwich with jalapeños was good. The turkey sausage was a Jimmy Deans that I like because I eat these at home. The quality of my food was good but nothing over the top. First impressions: Way too quiet, definitely a good study place, maybe not the best hang and talk with friends place though. I felt like I had to whisper or else everyone would eaves drop in my conversation. I've never felt that in Starbucks no matter how many people are there. On the plus side they have a lot of options on their menu and lots of drink choices. Quality and Overall Experience: Terrible! I didn't get to try the food or drinks to see if they are any good because the service I received was so rude at the cashier that I left before ordering anything! Which is my first time doing that anywhere. My friend and I had a Groupon which said "For four or more" $20 for $10. The fine print says : must be used all in one transaction. We took that to mean that either we could get 4 items or more with $20 based on the Groupon value or that we could feed up to 4 people for that value. This is usually what Groupon means when we have used it in the past. We went in with 2 people and attempted to buy 4 items. The lady at the Cashier told us that in order to use our Groupon we had to be ordering for 4 people . We politely told her that, that is not listed in the fine print or explained and that we are buying 4 items. She insisted that we need to have 4 people. I said ok we are ordering to go and we will bring our food home to share with two other people , is that ok? She said yes, but then when we tried to pay again she said our items didn't qualify because one was an appetizer and one was a drink instead of 4 full meals . What? None of these things are listed or explained in the Groupon! Groupon is like the simplest app ever and we use it all the time. You get what it says you get and they don't just get to make up all these rules last minute after you pay. So basically what it came down to was she said in order to use our Groupon we had to buy more items . I said , how many items and she said "well you need like 4 entrees ." This girl would not take our money, was not polite about it at all and made it feel like our fault that she posted a Groupon that did not in any way clarify the kind of discount she was giving. It was a total bait and switch move and we were not buying it. My friend and I left and we won't be coming back again. This is a shame because we were trying to see if we'd like this new place and literally the ONLY reason we knew it existed was because of Groupon! They reeled in a new customer and then lost them all because they were not willing to make their promotion work for them. Too bad. read more

Came here to grab a smoothie. As we walked in, we were greeted hello. The lady handed us a menu as we looked through it. It was our first time there. We took a seat at a table. I decided to order a mango smoothie. The lady offered us waters as we waited. Very nice of her. It didn't take too long for my mango smoothie to come out. It was very good. Fresh mangoes with a hint of pineapple. Yummy! Very refreshing. I was very happy with my mango smoothie! There were tables inside and big screen televisions all over inside. A cool place to chill and hang out. They also serve food mostly breakfast and lunch items. I'm only rating the place for drinks but I definitely have to come back for the food. Good spot to sit and have a coffee and grab a bite to eat. Lots of high schoolers after 2 but honestly it's not too much of a rowdy crowd like I thought it'd be. I'll come here and study from time to time but I can't stay for too long. Had I known at first that musicians practiced here in the afternoon, I would've come earlier from the start. The practice gets so loud sometimes my headphones can't cancel it out. Beyond that, your food and drink will take awhile to come out, but that's because there's not too many people working from what I've seen. They're nice and trying their best, so I don't mind. Overall, it's an okay place to be at for work/study before 6pm. I recommend the iced vanilla lattes, that's definitely my go-to. read more

057 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. I was in the mood for an acai bowl, so I looked for restaurants that: 1) had an acai bowl, 2) were nearby. I settled on @SPACEBAR. Being the laziest piece of poop in the world, I ordered through Yelp so that I could just go in, pick up the food, and come back to work. That process was pretty easy. I got the acai bowl with extra fruits. I paid online, derped around on the internet for an extra minute or so, and then flounced off to @SPACEBAR. Parking was... ok. The parking lot is small, but I was lucky enough that I wasn't running into the usual lunch rush. I thankfully got a spot right outside the restaurant. Interior was great, restaurant looked very clean and tidy. It was a ridiculous hot day when I went in, so I was pleased that the restaurant was cool as a cucumber! The cook was making my acai bowl right when I got there (I could see a part of the kitchen and he was chopping the fruits), but the lady running the front helped me and let me know that my order would be up soon. It only took him another 5 minutes or so before he had my food packaged and sent me on my merry little way. When I opened my acai bowl, it looked beautiful. He had put it together so meticulously and thankfully (!!!) nothing had gotten messed up on the drive. The fruits were great and the acai bowl was delicious, but I noticed that the consistency was very water-y. Didn't have the "thick" texture of an actual smoothie, but more among the lines of soup. That was a little disappointing imo. :( Overall I had a good experience here and will probably sit down the next time around! read more

This is a terrific coffeehouse in La Mesa. Not only coffees and teas that are flavorful, but excellent food. We're here for breakfast, sitting outside with our dog on comfortable wicker chairs. I'm having the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, capers, red onion, and tomatoes with a side fruit salad. Absolutely delicious! My husband is having the eggs, bacon-hash and toast and fruit. Just as delicious. Oh, and cloth napkins and silverware. There are a few desktop computers for public use and a very home-like interior. It's not located in a particularly scenic area but the service is excellent and friendly and all is good. We will be back. read more

I found this coffee bar based on Yelp reviews. I was in La Mesa and was seeking an acai bowl. This place makes a pretty mean one. As you can see from the picture, it is a work of art. The fruit was fresh. The granola was crunchy. This was a great bowl. The coffee was smooth and delicious. Just the perk me up that was required in the morning. There is a bar/counter and plenty of tables. Yes there is beer on tap if you need a cold one in the afternoon or evening. This place also serves as an internet cafe. I've been here a few times and the place is on point from the prices to use the internet to the food and drinks. This is a mom and pop operation that is ran very well and organized. It's not a small spot but it's a nice size and they have a stage where they may still have open mic or bands playing. The employees are pretty chill and they have a real nice size menu of food and drinks. I wish this place was open 24/7 or at least late night like some other spots around town. I adore @SPACEBAR! It's an internet cafe where you can rent Internet time by the hour or for a full day on one of their computers (Mac or PC) or just bring your laptop and use their free WIFI. This cafe has a great environment--lots of room, outlets for laptops, comfortable chairs, plenty of table space, always the perfect temperature, relatively quiet (except when they have events like karaoke or stand-up, but, duh), the menu features a variety of tasty items (breakfast items all day long, smoothies, and a great selection of loose leaf teas; you've stolen my heart!) They also close at 10 PM, which is like SUPER LATE for La Mesa. The people who run the place are always very nice and approachable. This has definitely become my favorite cafe in La Mesa. I used to frequent Cosmos Coffee Cafe (since around 2005), but it's just gotten too loud and the menu is very limited over there--I'm just over them. I tried hanging out at Starbucks on La Mesa Blvd for a little while, despite knowing that their drinks aren't very good, and that was just a bad idea. I'm very glad to have a nice cafe within biking distance to my village area La Mesa home. So far my favorites are the salmon breakfast bagel (smoked herbed salmon, scrambled egg, and capers on a toasted bagel of your choice) and the Matcha Mode smoothie. The Matcha Mode is matcha green tea blended with green tea ice cream and isn't overly sweet like the green tea smoothies from Robeks or Jamba Juice. Perfection! read more

Love this place. They have gena options which I haven't tried but I think it's awesome! I've been coming here to do my homework and it's so nice and quiet. I love it. And it's a 5 minute drive from my house so it's a nice alternative from Lestat's. Always plenty of parking and the girl up front is so sweet. What! I had no idea. I've driven by this place several times on occasion when I find myself in La Mesa but never stopped. Don't let the outside of this place fool you, because it is a charm from the second I walked in! Very mellow atmosphere, cutely decorated, friendly staff, plenty of seating, an open mic stage, great music, and art all over! I had a craving for an acai bowl since it was a super hot day, and Spacebar seemed to be the only place in the vicinity open past 6 on a Sunday that served them. Aparently, it was meant to be, because the bowl was fantastic!! Totally satisfied my craving. The granola was delicious, the acai blended with apple juice (I believe), fresh and nicely arranged fruit on top, honey and I added coconut. It was perfect. That is the only thing, menu wise, I can speak for at the moment, but I will definitely return. I saw a nice tea selection on the wall. Too bad I don't live closer!! read more

Just your typical neighborhood coffee/smoothie bar. They do have an open mic night I believe. They've got open WiFi. It's not really a place I'd hangout in. Most all of the seating is torn up and pretty shabby, not in a cool way, more that found in a dirty alley way. I'm sure it looked better when they opened, but their proximity to the local high school probably doesn't help. Service isn't much to mention. I wasn't inspired to tip more than the minimum as the people working each time I've been in were pretty rude. My son likes the smoothies here for whatever reason. I'm sure there's a time when it gets busy in here, I just haven't discovered it yet. Every time I have dropped in, it has been completely dead inside. Even so, there's always trash on the tables. In keeping with the theme of this place, I'd call the service "Dial Up" and the food, "error 404". Placing on online order for food at an Internet cafe seems like it'd be pretty efficient. The 3 drinks, 2 bagel sandwiches, & 1 toasted bagel doesn't seem impossible to create within the 20-30 minute estimated pick-up time. But an hour and 10 minutes is apparently the max speed of their bandwidth. 35 minutes of that hour was spent waiting inside the place for our order. The food came out way before the drinks which led to all the bagels getting soggy and chewy. The coffee drinks were not what you'd expect from a place calling themselves a "cafe". Overly syruped mocha and Folgers brewed drip coffee plus a smoothie really should never take over an hour to make, no matter the situation. The overall experience here is heavily due for a system upgrade, as they're operating on version 1.8, when the current release is 14.9. read more

If anyone has patience to wait for 45 minutes for their food, then go ahead and go to this place. One of my worst experience coming here. I came in and ordered a Go Green Panini and waited for 45 minutes. I asked the girl who worked there if my panini will come out soon she said, "oh soon" and then she has the audacity to ask me if it was a chicken or go green panini. That means they totally forgot my order. What annoying was, a lady who ordered way after me got her food 10 minutes before I come to the counter and asked for my panini. I think that, if i did not asked her, they properly forgot about the order. I am so not a confrontation person but this is just the worst that I have to ask. I understand if they have a lot of order online but not when someone ordered and wait there for such a long time and did not even ask or reassure them the order will be coming out soon. Also, there were no apology for the delay or anything and gave me an oily box. I was so hungry that i got so emotional while my baby was kicking so hard in my tummy due to hunger. I really feel bad typing this but I have to tell people about my experience, If this review was ever be deleted. I am posting it again. I do give that girl a point as she did asked me if i want a bag or napkin. But still, I mean, was it her first day of the job to ask that question.
