Tonight (8/25/2023) we spent about $140 on two lanes, nine players, and borrowing of bowling shoes. The place hasn't changed much. By that I mean it needs a makeover. Lol. Still, it is super fun at night because they keep the lights low with lots of fluorescent & neon colors moving in disco ball-like patterns. The shoes have been replaced in recent years. The women's restroom was mostly clean. A baby changing station was available. It's next door to a fabulous antique shop, Sonic Drive-In, Exxon gas station, & Big Lots. They also offer these dinosaur ramps for younger bowlers. My 3-year-old niece loved that. The staff members are extremely friendly, patient, & helpful. The snack bar is available. Thank you to my brother for loading the kids up on sugar and passing them back off on us tired and haggard parents. Uncles are punks like that. Lol. There's ample parking. They are open until midnight on the weekends. During Halloween, part of the bowling alley becomes haunted maze. Happy strikes & spares!

It's located on the Mills Elementary School campus, but maintained by the City of Hobbs. So it is reclaimed water. Don't drink it! To activate all the water features--including a huge overhead bucket that tips over, pouring cold water onto screaming children--just push down relatively hard on the large yellow button on the northern side. As much as they may want to, tell your kids not to run. My daughter's gooberish friend excitedly ran, slipped, and sliced her leg pretty good on the concrete. Restrooms are nearby. Picnic tables. A gazebo. A small playground. Plenty of street parking or along the fence in the alley. Bring: - towels - sunscreen - foldout chair - bottled water - your phone to do slo-motion water play videos of your crazy kids. Lol.

There are a number of water features that spray, splash, and soak you, so there is something for everyone. Our favorite was the bucket that fills up and then flips to soak those standing below. We took our late lunch, and ate in at one of the covered picnic tables and watched the kids get wet. Okay, I'll be honest I also joined in the fun. No regrets! I'm giving this four stars because it could use a cleaning of the drains, so the water can flow better and the bathrooms also needed some attention. Overall, though, I recommend. I'm from out of town, and I elsewhere in the country we have to pay to use a small splash pad like this one. Impressed!

Harry McAdams Park is located on the north end of Hobbs, NM…read more It is right next to Rockwind Community Links, a popular public golf course with a grill/restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining on location. There is a walking path here as well. The Hobbs Veterans Memorial is also within walking distance as is the New Mexico State Police office, an old national guard armory, and a motor vehicle department office. This state park offers short-term RV camping. I have never experienced camping out here, but there are several amenities that I've noticed... + clean grounds + dump station + BBQ grills + disc golf course + pavilions + picnic tables + playground equipment + restrooms + sand volleyball courts Actually I agree with my brother's girlfriend - this park has the best sand volleyball pit in all of Hobbs. TIPS + leashed dogs are allowed + the Lovington Highway Health Walk is nearby... it's a concrete walking/running path that runs parallel with a Lovington Highway. Good for dogs, bikes, scooters, roller blades, etc.

Green Meadow Park is located on the northwest side of Hobbs, NM…read more It features a large human-made pond with a walking path upon its perimeter. I brought my daughters here for their first time on 8/27/2022. It was my first time visiting the City-maintained park in over ten years. While it has some new-to-me features, I think that in the coming years there could be some major improvements. There was ample parking. On a sidenote, when we were there, two large dogs were not on leashes playing fetch with their owners. My dog is no longer around, so I often walk my brother's pitbull and want to start walking my other brother's German Shepherd... good dog owners know where I'm going with this. Just be careful when going to any park with your dog in this town. The "let's all win, toss it in the bin" campaign certainly seems to help keep waste off the ground. Here, it's printed on large signs with trash cans spread throughout the park. Much appreciated! Now if we could just get all of the morons to stop throwing trash out their car windows... TIP + The Hobbs Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at Green Meadows Park.

In Jefferson's defense, it is on the south side of town - meaning it's too far for most Hobbsans to consider - plus it's tucked away in a lesser known area. I used to teach at the elementary nearby over 10 years ago... I don't recall any of this being within short walking distance of the school: + basketball courts + bbq grills + lights + pavilions + picnic tables + playground + restrooms + sand volleyball courts + soccer goals + youth baseball fields (still referred to as Bensing Park) + & a .80-mile walking path I give this city park 4 stars because while it has great amenities, it is not at all debris-free nor is it in a particularly nice neighborhood.

Classes take place at Rockwind Community Links, formerly known as Ocotillo Golf Course, just north of town. My daughters, currently ages 10 & 11, have been in the program since March 2023. I've been around numerous staff and coaches who facilitate the program. Not only do they stress the importance of fundamentals, but they keep it fun and at the end of each session they discuss pillars pertaining to character and sportsmanship like respect and responsibility. Classes usually begin at the practice area, but First Tee does have their own office building for when parents need to drop of voluntary fundraiser money and pick up orders. The usual rate is $60 per child for an 8-week session, one class per week typically beginning at 4:15PM. Extra day camps are also offered throughout the year. The Center for the Arts is located in a large buildup in downtown Hobbs…read more There is free street parking nearby, but I will say that the street adjacent to Broadway is not a through-street. It was made into a patio type area. When I brought my daughters to check the place out on 7/19/2023, there honestly wasn't much to look at except for a few patriotic pieces. All of the pieces on display are from local artists. Some are for sale while some are labeled NFS or "not for sale." These art shows typically entail entry fees of around $10 per artwork. Guidelines apply. The next entry deadline will be in August for their popular Fan Art Show. They are closed Sunday & Monday. So glad we have this opportunity in our community!
