MALL. Like, right next to a food court and stores. Our oldest had her first "Learn To Play" hockey session here. The area where you put on skates/equipment on was a bit tight... but there were also TONS of skaters and parents there all at the same time. I didn't see an actual locker room... unsure if there is one but would assume if people play hockey there, there would have to be, right??? Not sure. I noticed a sign on the lockers said that "all lockers are broken, sorry for the inconvenience." Whaaaaat?!? So if you go skating, where do you leave your purse? Wow. Kind of shocking. Personally wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my purse or keys unattended. As for the ice... my husband said the ice quality was surprisingly good! Considering this is an ice rink in WEST TEXAS on a 100 degree day, this is a really good thing! There are lots of rides and a playground near the rink for kiddos that aren't skating. There is also plenty of seating for spectators. The air temp wasn't super uncomfortably cold too! Some rinks are FREEZING. This one was nice. We'll be back!

Wanting to venture out and see what else was out there I went to the Midland parks and recreation website and found a list of playgrounds in the area. We decided to go to Grafa Park today and WOW! It. Is. AWESOME!! The playground is HUUUUUUGE! There is so much to do on it: climb, slide, explore! It's super tall too (which, with a 18mo, I had to get up there with him because the openings for the ladders make me SUPER nervous.) But, hey, it was so much fun for me too!!! The slides are GREAT! There is also a huge walking track around the reservoir(???) I think that's what it is. My kids (and I) LOVED it! We brought a sub sandwich, chips and our drinks and had a picnic at one of the many picnic tables here. There are also plenty of benches and shade trees too! So glad we found this park! We can't wait to come back!!!!

And best of all, lots of SHADY TREES! We've found an evening walk here to be a nice way to wind down the day. It's very relaxing as there's often a cool breeze funneling under the trees and a high gate between the park and the road to protect from all the cars. Nestled enough within a neighborhood that it isn't dusty (locals know what I'm saying!) and full of people playing with their dogs and families until sun down, so it feels very safe. About the dogs - they've always been good boys and girls and we have had no problems at all with them. However, we have found a lot are actually off leash when they play so just an FYI, if it's not your thing.

The signup process was easy, but the cancellation process nearly impossible because the gym doesn't answer the phone, has a full voicemail, and doesn't list their email anywhere. I tried cancelling on the payment portal, but the best I could do was send a message which was never acknowledged. I finally found someone on their Facebook page who refused to allow me to cancel without paying an additional month. They pointed to language in their payment policy that does not actually say that registration is recurring or that payments are automatic. I guess they can keep the lights on as long as they can get enough folks to sign up and struggle to cancel for poor service for a few months at a time.

Have brought my kiddos to this playground a few times so far! We LOVE it here!…read more It's a decent sized playground with enough equipment to keep the kids busy and not bored. I even enjoy climbing up the main structure and going down the 2 HUGE slides! The kids appreciate that there are "different" play equipment at this playground... the wiggly/wobbly balance apparatus is really neat and the spinning "merry-go-round" is awesome! I like that there is artificial turf as a ground cover. (Not a huge fan of the wood chips under the swings... there always seems to be singing ants in wood chips). There is minimal shade here, mainly just above the large main structure. Another mother I was speaking to said she wished more playgrounds had cover/shade. There is a small pond with a dock next to the play area. That makes me a bit nervous as my middle child has no fear... I can just picture her wandering over there if I take my eyes off her for a split second! All in all, a solid playground. Hasn't been busy during any of our visits. We'll definitely be back!

Nonetheless, there was plenty of available seating on a Wednesday night (6/2). Parking was easy and free. Tickets were $16 to sit right behind home plate (you do not need to buy tickets ahead of time online if you're going to a weekday game, as there were barely a couple hundred people to fill the stands). At first, we were told that based on the section we bought tickets in, that we could get free popcorn, peanuts, and soft drinks. This was not the case. The free goodies were in fact for groups that had wristbands and were part of employers or families that had bought picnic packages. There were plenty of other options anyways that were reasonable - BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, corn dogs, nachos. I had gotten the big Bushbaby Bush's chicken sandwich for $5.50. I wish I had kind of waited and made a decision after I had walked around to all the food stops, as I'm not kicking myself that I didn't get a chance to try the famous peanut butter jelly bacon hot dog.
