First Tee is a program dedicated to kids and teens interested in learning the game of golf. This Hobbs location is part of the Southeastern New Mexico chapter. Classes take place at Rockwind Community Links, formerly known as Ocotillo Golf Course, just north of town. My daughters, currently ages 10 & 11, have been in the program since March 2023. I've been around numerous staff and coaches who facilitate the program. Not only do they stress the importance of fundamentals, but they keep it fun and at the end of each session they discuss pillars pertaining to character and sportsmanship like respect and responsibility. Classes usually begin at the practice area, but First Tee does have their own office building for when parents need to drop of voluntary fundraiser money and pick up orders. The usual rate is $60 per child for an 8-week session, one class per week typically beginning at 4:15PM. Extra day camps are also offered throughout the year.
