A receptionist referred me over to her coordinator. The coordinator explained that as long as the furniture pieces had no damage or stains that most likely the items would be accepted. Then she had me text her some photos. After giving me their blessing that they would accept them they gathered my address and pick up information as I was not able to bring them to the store. I am not sure what their mile radius is, but it wouldn't hurt to ask if they would be able to pick items up for you. If you're able to drop off items, this large building in Hobbs, New Mexico is easy to find next to Tractor Supply. Today--May 9, 2024--when the two guys who arrived on time (11AM) to pick up my sofa and loveseat donations, they were very cordial and mentioned that the set I was donating was very nice. Sheri's House of Hope is a non-profit organization in Lea County, New Mexico, that supports "women…read moreand children survivors of domestic abuse." Their Thrifty Boutique is located on Turner Street five blocks from the police station. When another donation drop-off center had a sign on their door that they were no longer accepting donations for 2022, I decided to see if Sheri's was available. Prior to this day, I had never been there. The ladies who were working here on 12/9/2022 when I dropped off donations were welcoming and friendly. Most of the items are women's and children's clothes and shoes, but I saw jewelry, girls' hair bows, and a plethora of other items. From now on, I most likely will be bringing my items worth donating to Sheri's - especially after reading about Sheri and her mother's efforts to change law enforcement mindset about victims of domestic violence. Under no circumstances should anyone - female or male - be a victim of domestic abuse! Please help make others aware of this tragic nonsense by donating & encouraging others to donate to Sheri's.

Isaiah's Soup Kitchen, a non-profit based in Hobbs, NM, provides poverty-stricken folks with free…read moremeals. Back in April (2024). the co-owners of my company expressed their desire to have our leftover catered food from our business party delivered to Isaiah's. That task was assigned to me. Don't they know not to trust me with food though?! Lol. I wasn't too clear as to how the process worked at first as I never could reach them on the phone, but here's my advice... Non-perishable items may be left at the door during off hours. If you are not comfortable doing that or if you have perishable food like we did, then deliver them in person at around 10 AM or sometime well before noon. I have never noticed anybody inside between 7 and 8 AM. The owner, Tabitha, was a very kind lady. Her volunteers & workers were also real friendly & gracious. Most recently, they even walked out to my Jeep and carried our donations back inside for me. What a great way to serve our community & not waste food!

MyPower, Inc. is a non-profit organization based out of Hobbs, NM…read more After my daughter's promotion to 6th grade, I decided to apply on her behalf for the MyPower Leadership Camp which was held July 16-19, 2024. She made the cut of who knows how many girls, but the camp ended up with a total of 150 students from Lea County. We received 3 post cards, a detailed letter, and text messages during the summer to remind & prepare us of the event. This program was developed to empower young girls by helping them "make good choices, set goals, succeed academically, and avoid teen pregnancy." It's high energy. Engaging. Interactive. Strategic. Comprehensive. My daughter learned a few life lesson tips along the way. Made some new friends. And participated in a graduation celebration. Because of this program, my daughter was much more confident going into middle school. For all four days, the young girls were bused to the Hobbs High Freshman campus from a convenient location which was an elementary school. Given free camp t-shirts. Fed breakfast, snacks, and lunch then given a ride back to their local designated elementary campus. Thanks to the financial support of numerous local organizations & companies including City of Hobbs, Lea County Board of Commissioners, Chevron, URENCO, and many more, this camp was free for all girls! I have met the program's executive director who is an absolutely amazing, charming woman. She has an amazing team too & an outstanding volunteer base. Highly recommend. First Tee is a program dedicated to kids and teens interested in learning the game of golf…read more This Hobbs location is part of the Southeastern New Mexico chapter. Classes take place at Rockwind Community Links, formerly known as Ocotillo Golf Course, just north of town. My daughters, currently ages 10 & 11, have been in the program since March 2023. I've been around numerous staff and coaches who facilitate the program. Not only do they stress the importance of fundamentals, but they keep it fun and at the end of each session they discuss pillars pertaining to character and sportsmanship like respect and responsibility. Classes usually begin at the practice area, but First Tee does have their own office building for when parents need to drop of voluntary fundraiser money and pick up orders. The usual rate is $60 per child for an 8-week session, one class per week typically beginning at 4:15PM. Extra day camps are also offered throughout the year.
