Paid $650 for this piece of paper prescription when I could've went somewhere else and paid $30
Yvonne N.

Don't go to this optometrist if you don't have insurance. I did not have insurance so when I called to ask they said it's $100 and up for eye exam depending on what test he does. Dr. Manuel convinced me to try on hard contact lenses saying that it would give me 20/20 while soft contact lenses wouldn't give me the perfect vision. He did not mention the price of this fitting/try on for the hard contact lense. AFTER the fitting, he told me one (1) pair of hard contact lens is $600. I told him ill stick to soft contact lenses. Then after the appointment, it felt like they made up a price and told me $650 and it costs more because I did a hard contact lens try on. Me being the naive young girl I was paid it in full cash. On the day of the soft contact lenses fitting he seemed annoyed that I wanted to change my prescription by one degree. After paying him $650 in the last visit, it would be nice if he could have a good attitude. I do feel scammed. I know because he worked for some astronauts it seems like he's the best but honestly he is just better at marketing than he is at getting me to the 20/20 prescription, unless, of course, you pay $650 (exam and fitting) plus $600(1 pair of hard contact lens) =$1250 . Maybe he could've gotten me to 20/20 if he wanted to with soft lenses but was just saying he wouldn't be able to to try to convince me to buy the hard contact lenses. If you are just getting contacts or glasses exam just go to a good ol Harris health system optometrist where they have set prices and they can't make up prices at the top of their head like here at Space Center. Without insurance it was like $30 for contact lens exam at Harris Health System Optometrist.

Frames I chose!

Dr Keith Manuel is good enough for NASA astronauts then he's good enough for me! I had the most thorough eye examination ever.

We set an appointment and they mailed me paperwork to fill out and bring with us to the appointment. I was quoted a total of $425 for the appointment. The waiting room was empty and we waited for only about 5 minutes or so before being called by the tech for measurement tests. She was friendly and professional. Once in the exam room, Dr. Powell entered and greeted us. She has a terrible bedside manner! My son is 18 and virtually blind in his left eye. Dr. Powell gave no direction other than to continue to tell my son "this will go a lot faster if you keep your eye open!" She continued to bark that at him until getting up and walking out of the room, saying nothing else. After a few minutes, Dr. Rosner came in and was immediately friendly and much more patient. She was able to explain to my son the result she was looking for and wanted to try again. She provided him directions that helped him keep his eye open. She was very informative! Dr. Rosner had a vastly different, positive attitude from what was experienced with Dr. Powell! Eye exams can be very stressful for some and that should be recognized and treated accordingly. Dr. Rosner suggested my son have his pressure retested in about 6 months. I asked the scheduler when Dr. Rosner would be working as we wanted to see her and was told she's usually at their Pasadena location. We'll be going to that location from now on!

I've read some not so nice reviews about Hopping Eye Assoc but I went anyway because it was…read morerecommended by a friend. I will say it was probably the best experience I've ever had. I started wearing glasses at 10, contacts at 14 (hard lens). By 40 my eyes had gotten where they said I needed bifocals. Went back to glasses but I still struggled and had to take my glasses off to read. Every year I had the same argument with my optometrist and then with ophthalmologist. I was told I just had to give the new glasses time. I tried bifocal contacts. One lens for distance and one for near. I was miserable. I even tried the multi focal contacts but I still couldn't read. As my grandchildren started coming along I had my glasses off most of the time. Babies like to pull them and I couldn't afford a new pair if they broke. Yesterday I explained to Dr Sun my issues. He was willing to help me find a solution and it was so simple. I didn't need readers and because other Drs kept insisting I did, it was just enough magnification that I couldn't see to read, and I love to read. Dr Sun fiddled around with these funky frames that he could put different lens in and I would try them on. Guess what! I could see perfectly for distance and to read and everything in between. I could even go back to contacts. The solution. One contact only. Distance in my right eye and nothing in my left. My brain had already trained itself to use one eye for distance and one to read years ago so this was a breeze. I would go back to single vision glasses. Yesterday afternoon was the first time in 30 yrs I could see well. I moved out to the front where the front office employees were friendly and very helpful. I thought the frames were kinda expensive but I don't usually have to buy new frames very often and getting out of progressive lens was going to save me a ton. Plus nothing in today's world is cheap, nor is it built to last so when I was offered a warranty for $25 I jumped at it to have that peace of mind that my glasses were protected. I also knew I didn't have to buy my frames and lens there, I could go online and buy 20 pairs for what I paid for one pair. Yesterday, I would have paid 3 times what I did just because a Dr finally listened to me and I can now comfortably see near and far without removing my glasses or my contacts. From my years working in the warranty department for Kenmore vacuums, I always purchase a warranty if it's offered. Very few companies can afford to stand by a product they don't manufacture first hand. American made or Chinese made very few products are worth what we pay for them, that includes glasses. Kenmore has a 1 yr warranty that honestly is worthless. Agents are trained to listen to key words that void your warranty. In fact most products are that way so if it's something I want to use for a while I purchase an extended warranty. I've had to use that warranty more often than not. I'm sorry for anyone who didn't purchase a warranty and something happened to their glasses but don't blame the clinic if you were offered extended protection and decided not to take it. This is a whole different century and not the old days where Kenmore vacuums lasted 40 yrs. Nothing is made like it used to be. Bite the bullet and pay for the warranty. Thank you Dr Sun and Hopping Clinic for giving me back the ease of site that I figured to never have again. I'll gladly sign my name to this review. Sharon Walker

They do everything they can to make her as comfortable as possible as she has serious mobility issues. Dr. Stewart is kind and has a wonderful bedside manner as do the assistants. The two things I am not that happy with is the billing process. She began as a patient about a year ago and I have never received a statement of account. When I pay, I receive a paper receipt. Even her previous GP (solo practitioner) would give me a statement or I was able to access her account through a portal. I always like to check if things are billed properly (correct insurance billed etc), but have no way of knowing. They have never offered me a way to do this via patient portal, web site or anything. It is 2024 . The second thing is a warning for new patients. They will tell you when you make your appointment- BE PREPARED TO WAIT! Your appointment can take up to 3 hours. They see a lot of patients and the process takes time. Bring a book, your smart phone, drinks and food. Tell yourself before you go that you will be there a LONG TIME! It is frustrating and the long wait is hard on elderly people. Apparently, there are few providers that do this kind of procedure, so demand is high. It is just a reality. The billing process and the long wait is the only reason why my review did not give them more stars.

I reported it and they wanted to see me immediately. I came the same day I and they charged me for the visit. I did not find that to be fair. It was them who initiating an emergency visit to look at the damage caused by the medication they gave me. And they still charged me for the visit. I still left with blurry vision, due to the bad eyedrops (VYZULTA), But I am not ever coming back. It seems like their doctors are not full doctors, but practitioners instead using patients as guinea pigs. If you care about your eyes, stay away from The Eye Center of Texas Pasadena.
