ZERO STARS. DO NOT COME HERE. THIS IS NOT A SPA EXPERIENCE. Worst massage experience of my life in any country. Terrible technique. Disgusting hygiene. A 40% mandatory tip posted on the wall. A "cash is better" front desk. A masseur who had to be yelled for like a dog. Real physical pain a full day later. Read this and run. Walked in at 5:35pm for a 90-minute foot massage. Walked into dark room where masseur was sitting in dark, chilling. Told to sit down. Sat 10 minutes while the masseur walked away. First red flag. He came over to start with shoulders, which is standard for Chinese reflexology. I declined and asked for feet and legs only. He dropped my feet in a basin of hot water and disappeared again. Unprofessional from the first second. Once the massage started, it was clear this man has no technique. Zero. 90 minutes of brainless squeezing, yanking, and grinding like he was aggressively scrubbing a pot. No skill. No rhythm. No pressure control. He seemed nice enough as a person. This is just not the job for him. I have hairy legs and he used so little product the friction was unbearable. It felt like rug burn. I told him during the massage. He kept going. I asked for less pressure. He kept going. I asked for more product. He barely adjusted. It is now past 11:15 the next morning and my legs are STILL on fire. Every hair follicle feels inflamed and yanked at the root. Skin feels raw. I woke up in pain. That is not a massage. That is sanding someone's legs down for 90 minutes. Hygiene was vile. He repeatedly plunged his bare hand into an old communal jar of product, smeared it on my bare feet, and dunked right back in. Over and over. No spatula. No pump. No scoop. Just bare hands, bare feet, and one shared open jar collecting skin oils and dead skin from every client before me. NY State requires massage establishments to keep equipment and supplies in a clean and sanitary manner, and double-dipping bare hands into shared product between clients?! This is exactly the kind of sanitation issue that gets businesses written up. The front desk woman seems sweet for 30 seconds. Then, unprompted: "yeah, cash is better." Universal red flag for no paper trail. Combined with everything else, the place is shady. Tipping policy is insulting. Posted on the wall: $20 per hour of service. On a $75, 90-minute massage, that is a mandated $30 tip. 40%. For service this horrible. That is a shakedown, not a tip. After the massage, he vanished again. No thank you. No water. No goodbye. The front desk woman had to yell for him like she was calling a dog. And this is the man collecting a mandatory 40% tip! When asked how it was, and I told her the massage was honestly bad, she did not even ask why. No follow-up. No apology. No concern. Just blank indifference, like complaints are a daily occurrence. She was already pressing the elevator button and standing at the door, ready to flush me out before anyone overheard. I have had hundreds of massages in dozens of countries. Hotel spas, neighborhood shops, luxury resorts, at random beach cabanas, night markets, and even sessions with blind therapists whose technique was extraordinary. This was an able-bodied man with full use of his eyes and hands, and he managed to deliver the worst massage of my life! Every glowing review here and on Google is a lie. Fake, planted, or written by people who have never had a real massage. No honest person walks out of here and calls it good. Take your money and your dignity literally anywhere else. AVOID. They also weren't that friendly either. My massage was a bit uncomfortable because he tried to massage me with towels on my skin for most of the time. I absolutely love a hole in the wall massage place where the pressure is intense but I cannot recommend this place. I'm a big fan of Tui na massages and especially love when there's back walking. I called for an appointment and asked for this specifically and was told they perform this service. I felt confident they would honor my request given the pictures with the bars on the ceiling. The price is super affordable and they offered to split the hour for back massage (oil and hot stone) and foot massage. For starters, the staff was so friendly and kind. My massage lady was strong but gentle and eased up on areas I told her were hurting. She made sure that the hot stones weren't hurting me and I truly appreciated that. My favorite part was when she got to my feet and calves. Although the place isn't some luxurious spa, the prices, friendliness, and quality of the experience mattered most. I'm hoping I just came on an off night, but this wasn't a particularly pleasant experience. I have been to Asian massage places so I do know what I'm supposed to be getting when walking into one of these places. The front desk lady and the masseuse were nice and I honestly wish this was a better experience. I go into the room and it has a sweaty stale stench, luckily when I put my head down I don't smell it for most of the time, but I then got wiffs of smelly feet periodically as he was massaging towards the front of my head. I received a male masseuse (i usually prefer female masseuses) but figured I would give the guy a chance. It was an hour long massage but somehow the entire thing felt rushed, the way my back was being rubbed down felt like someone was washing clothes on a washboard just back and forth aggressively like he had somewhere else to be. As he was using pressure, I felt either his nail or dried skin on his fingers digging into my back. I did let him know in the middle, he apologized and it was fine from then, but still. The front desk lady asked how it was it was, I said okay, she asked if I felt good, I shrugged. I wasn't expecting her to do anything about it, but I'm pretty sure she knew I didn't enjoy it since she gave an awkward/embarrassed smile/laugh when people are in an awkward situation. The building stinks and I wanted to turn around from the darn awful smell, but my husband was desperate. It would soon come to pass that he would regret sticking it out. They started to massage us but then my husband's masseuse up and left one minute in to his massage while mines kept going. they kept leaving and they never gave him his massage. it was not until my massage was done that they truly started. What in the... what compelled someone to stop massaging a client for an hour. This was a couples massage! So now I am sitting here waiting an hour for him to be done naked in the bed. This was awkward and so annoying. Please do not waste your time coming here. the massage was absolutely not good. lazy and rushed from my end. This is my first time getting a massage so I'm not exactly sure how this place compares with other locations, but the massage, in my opinion, was really comfortable and professional. I happened to be in the area at the time and saw an ad for this place. The spa is located on the third floor and you have to take a somewhat small and sketchy elevator upstairs. When I got there my sister decided to get the foot reflexology (1 hour for $35) and I the body work (1 hour for $45). We asked for a room together and another customer happened to be in the room. The front desk receptionist was really kind and caring. She politely told us to wait a couple of minutes and offered us cups of water. The room itself (room #2) was really clean and smelled nice. There was a curtain in the middle between the two beds, which could be pulled to split the room into 2. The female masseuses were really professional throughout the entire massage, though it did feel a bit awkward to have someone else's hands roaming over my body. My masseuse made sure I felt comfortable throughout the massage and asked me whether it was too strong, not strong enough, and if it hurt. An hour passed by just like that, but it was an hour well spent. I highly recommend this place. But please be advised that instead of the usual 15% tipping, they have suggested tipping rates: $5 for 30 mins, $10 for 60 mins, and $15 for 90 mins.
