After having a 50 min massage and lounge access with showers and well stocked personal area with steam room I've gotta say; why would you just get a "massage" at a chiro when (if your benefits accept it) you can have a nice relaxing treatment like this. Once they got your money, they don't care if you will ever be back. Showed up on time (a few minutes early too) and had to wait a little bit past the appointment time. No biggy as I had the rest of my day free but when I did get in, I felt so rushed. I got a mediocre pedicure without polish (I didn't want polish) and got charged for a pedicure with polish at almost $100! I think this place is extremely expensive and over-rated for what it really is. Would not recommend Spa Utopia and I will not go back. read more

Been to this location several times for massages: Staff are friendly. Change rooms are a bit small but you get a locker and robes and slippers. RMTs are great there. Sitting area is cozy with fireplace and you get wine, tea, and dried fruit and nuts to snack on. Steam room is small but cozy. Staff are great there with refilling snacks etc. I personally prefer 60 minute massages as 50 minutes feel short... but you would be going here for a "spa" experience versus a clinic for massages. Hair service: There's three different levels depending on experience. Booked wanting a hair designer but ended up with a senior stylist (receptionist did not call to warn... and it took weeks before there was an available hair designer level... had I have known I would have rescheduled).Consultation was great. You get VIP service with drinks, scalp and neck massages, etc. very thorough with their service. Price is a bit steep but you get the service to go with it. Updated info: Hair salon considers toner a separate charge from highlights. An extra $51 on my bill for toner. Be prepared to spend $250 if you have long hair for partial highlights and a cut. If it had not been for a gift card, I'm not sure if I would pay the $80-$100 difference? It is a luxury treat though. read more

I booked in to spa utopia two weeks ago as my husband got me a gift certificate for my last birthday. I have never been to the spa so I was really looking forward to it and I go to spas often. I have two young kids that I got child care for. One hour out of my appointment time I got a call saying the technician doing my manicure and pedicure is sick but that they could still do my silk peel. It's my actual birthday today so I am not pleased at all. They didn't offer any other services but just said to re scheduled to another day.. I don't have the luxury of doing this as I'm a full time mom and just wanted to relax on my birthday and now it has been ruined by them. They are also very unprofessional, Bonnie and two others I spoke to. I asked for a full refund as that left a sour taste in my mouth. The atmosphere at this so spa is so relaxing and the decor is beautiful . I went for a massage. When you get there you get robes to change into and wait for your appointment in the lounge. They offer tea water , dried fruits and nuts while your waiting. They also have a steam bath to use while your waiting or after your treatment. They have everything you need. I didnt have to leave feeling sticky with massage oil. You can take a shower and get completely ready. They have registered and non registered massage therapists you can choose from. I also saw a full salon there as well, they offer a variety of services . The staff is also very friendly and they make sure your comfortable. There was a mistake with my booking, and i needed a rmt because i had an open icbc claim, so i had to wait an extra half an hour for my appoint when an rmt was available. I didnt mind though because the lounge so relaxing, but they did give me a discount because of the mistake, so they have excellent customer service . read more

This review is in regards to the hair salon. Firstly, note that the prices are x amount of $ +. My advice is to negotiate a price first. I was quoted one price and then it turned out being way higher. The first time I got a full head of highlights (no cut). It was okay, but I asked for advice and the stylist was not helpful at all at giving suggestions. It was very annoying (isn't it their job?). The second time, I went for partial highlights (no cut) and I was charged the same price as full highlights!! Who charges $200 for partial highlights. Needless to say, I was not satisfied with the job. It was just a level 1 stylist, so I shouldn't have been charged so much. Today, I tried a new salon, payed half the price for partial highlights AND a cut. The stylist offered good advice, did an amazing job AND was honest about pricing. Spa Utopia Langley was the original Spa Utopia and it remains first in my opinion. I've been to the other locations over the nine - almost ten years I have been frequenting Spa Utopia and they've been decent but the Langley location has been head and shoulders above the others every single time. I've tried several other spas as well and frankly Spa Utopia has always been my preference. The facilities are always lovely, the equipment is always very sanitary and the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable. It's my favourite place to be! read more

I went and got my hair done last week, it's been over a year and a half because I'm SUPER nervous about it, I had to find a new stylist and was told this place is the best, that I would get what I wanted. I left with nothing that I wanted! I asked not to break my base and they did. Now my natural colour is pulling orange. My previous blonde i had is now darker then when I even came in. My cut is completely uneven and I've already gone back to get it fixed, the stylist took off wayyyy more than I wanted. I'm so devastated, I've spent 2 years growing out my natural colour to make it easier for regrowth and blending. I now have to start alllll over again to get where I want to be :'( Its fine... hair grows but when your spending as much money as I did it should be perfect!! read more

I booked a massage date for my husband and I for today - Jan 31 at 1130. I booked this around Christmas - a month in advance in order to get the same time, the same length appointment. I received two confirmation emails yesterday. Then at 930AM (two hours before appointment), I received a phone call that my RMT went home sick - fair enough. This would be fine if I could rebook the same appointment in the next week or so. So I said let's reschedule. And, the response was "unfortunately, we only have March 7". March 7!! And we can't book you at the same time. My husband and I just finished massive renovations and we needed this. But what gets me the most is that to make it up to me, I still got an unfortunately. If I was to cancel on you two hours before, I would be charged in full. Yet you cancel and have no alternative. Wouldn't you be prepared to make it up some how. Like Hey we have to cancel but we have you booked for next Sunday or something? I'm done with spa utopia. I've been going here for years but I'm absolutely done after that weak attempt at customer service. read more

I have been to Spa Utopia several times. The last time I went for a pedicure. The lady that did it, could not shut up about herself. While I have no problem engaging with people in service industries, stores and restaurants, she was over the top. Beautiful and serene in the back waiting areas. Expensive. Many workers are kind. Some old timers forget who they are and where they are. But after a few years of being told visit after visit "your toe nails are so bad - it's taking too long to do your feet- we will have to skip the massage or the wax soak" "your skin needs help- aren't you using the products" "put down after put down"......I decided its best to go cheap again with the chance of infection and scalding of my feet both from water and wax. I don't need to pay double - triple to get put down each time I go. Each time I smile and leave feeling less than when I went in. If it takes more time to do my ugly feet or wax my tough skin.... Go over.....don't complain to Me about going over the appointment each time because of me it my body parts. I received a gift card so decided to try this place again as I was here once about 6-7 years ago but wasn't impressed. The front desk customer service was underwhelming as I waited while they herd you like cattle into groups to go into the spa. The lady that came to bring me to my room was more pleasant and the one who did my pedi was alright too. Afterwards while waiting for toes to dry I saw one toe was not all painted so I had to go find someone to do it. Then I asked her if the rest looked ok. She said yes but I noticed soon after that one side of my toe needed to be redone. I find this incompetent and lazy from staff when I'm paying $130 for something I could get for $35-$40 elsewhere. As I was about to leave I looked around to shop then had to wait to pay while the front desk staff pretended she was doing something because I wanted to look around first. Not impressed at all. I have been to Spa Utopia before and it was okay but today was the worst experience and a waste of my money. I went in for a 75 minute hot stone massage with a "Registered Massage Therapist" and it was only 60 minutes. My "Registered Massage Therapist" was taking her sweet time doing other things - drinking water, diddly daddling and who knows what other things but I know for sure that she was not doing her job. I will never come here again. I highly recommend Pink Lime Spa as they know what they are doing AND it's cheaper. read more

Carmen has been my primary stylist and when I go to spa utopia I feel relaxed and totally cared for. My hair looks amazing! So blonde, soft and healthy!! This is a great spa, and a fine place for a haircut. It's not a place where you go looking for the most inexpensive spa treatments around however. I've been probably twenty or so times, mostly for haircuts, occasionally for massage treatments. You can have a glass of wine while you are there, and some light snacks if you are waiting for your massage. However I found the pre-massage amenities one of the best parts of the experience. I can only speak for the men's side of the equation, but the prep-room is fantastic, nice big shower, clean sandals to wear, eucalyptus infused post-shave face towels, cucumber water to drink and all the balms, lotions, shaving creams and aftershaves a guy could want, alongside decent disposable razors. It's just a great feeling to come 30 minutes early, chill and clean up prior to the massage treatment. Every massage I've had has been good to great, the surroundings clean and comfortable. I'm a person who really demands cleanliness in my spas. Utopia has always been immaculate with their housekeeping. The atmosphere is relaxing, and I get to hang out in my terrycloth robe in the lounge area after my treatment, enjoying a nice Gewurztraminer with some suspicious, well-kept, middle aged ladies. read more

Love this spa! Always a nice and relaxing time whenever I come here. I tried the 75min Designed for U facial and it was amazing; I almost fell asleep (maybe cause the bed was nicely heated and warm and the esthitician tucks you in nicely in your bed). My face felt nice and clean when I left and wasn't overly greasy looking like other facials I've got in the past. The products they use smell really nice too and you get a choice between a foot massage or a scalp massage! If you're looking for a relaxing facial, definitely try Spa Utopia. read more

Service going downhill. I don't go to Spa Utopia as much as i use to for financial reasons however, when i need a good pedicure I splurge on the $128 pedi. Today was not worth the money at all. First, service is way down because of the pandemic. Understandable that they can no longer have their drink area and snacks available as before. No longer can we relax and use the bathroom facilities as before but I do understand. However, we are still paying top dollar and certainly not getting what we use to. Still, i can live with that. They have to make a living. What I cant live with is the person who did my luxury's pedicure today that was anything but a luxury pedi. Oh she went through the motions but did not give me a relaxing pedi. It was a token push in the cuticles, a quick brush over the nails, a massage that was without the low lights, without the aroma therapy and lasted 2:57 seconds on right leg and 3:03 on the left. Less than 2 mins on hands. When i walked in the only thing i asked her is for extra sloughing on the heels today. i got less than i have ever had in all the years i have been coming and had asked her to smooth it more. She was not happy and tried to tell me why it was bad. I have been getting pedicures for 35 years!! I know my feet! Anyway...i feel like my Friday off work to get a luxurious pedicure was a waste of money. I am very unhappy at spending so much money and not getting the pampering that used to come from this spa. I won a prize 70 minute swedish massage and have to say the whole utopia experience was fantastic! You were given time to relax in their lounge of steam room or both, along with free fresh or dried fruit and nuts and free coffee, tea, or herbal teas or chilled cucumber or lemon water. I could totally switch off with the massage, enjoyed a full shower with the utopia products after wards after the steam room session, you could have a sauna instead if you wanted to. I left feeling totally revitalized, great way to relax. read more

I battled over the star rating for this review- I have had several great experiences (highly recommend Christy for cuts!), but one awful one. They have a nice seating area, and offer tea and coffee. This is awkward though, they have always waited the fifteen minutes or so until I was about to be brought out, so I only just get the cup before having my hands tied down with the cape (seems silly and pointless, so now I decline). As stated Christy is great. It's been years that I've stayed with a stylist, but I am a regular client now! My bad experience... Was.a perm. Now, some people would nod knowingly, but a perm doesn't have to be bad- this experience wasn't negative because of the curls themselves (okay partially, not all took), but because of the shoddy workmanship. I ended up with a chunk of hair along my neckline fall out- rather, it broke off at the scalp. At the end of the appt I told the woman (not Christy- I was told only one woman did perms there) that my skin was itchy. She rubbed some cream on it (?) and sent me on my way. It kept itching/burning so as soon as I got home I soaked a towel and rubbed it. The towel reeked of solution, and the burning eased. After a few hours I scratched, and hair came out under my nails. By bedtime I was missing a section, and horrified. I now have an approximate 2.5"x.5" section that has grown out to about 4" long. This wouldn't be awful if I didn't have very long hair that I wear up constantly while working out. I have had a ridiculous chunk of hair hanging down for about a year now. Embarrassing and irritating as hell. Soooo.. Don't bother with a drink (unless you'll be sitting for color maybe?), ask for Christy, and get your perm elsewhere and/or be REALLY urgent about proper rinsing (and don't let her talk you down about skin irritation ). read more

This is a cute spa, they have a warm comfy atmosphere and the customer service is great.. This location is smaller than the down town location but it is still nice. They offer water tea or coffee and fluffy robes to change into I came in for a eyebrow wax and an eyelash tint. My eyebrows turned out great, my tint was another story. The technician did ask me to let her know if I felt any stinging but since it wasn't too bad I didn't say anything. When the 10 min wait was over the tech discovered that the tint had run creating a not so lovely raccoon look. She tried to get as much of it off as she could , she even went hunting for several products it try. She was able to tone it down quite a bit but I was still a bit freaked out since I was heading off to work . The manager came to speak to me and offered 50% off for the tint (I should have pushed for free , actually SHE should have given it to me for free ) she also gave me a sample of an ex-foliating cream and she had the make-up tech apply concealer for me. The next day most of the raccoon came off in the shower and my lashes stayed looking great.. The manager and the tech called me the next day to see how I was doing. So the end results were good, and the customer service was great. post script- at their other location I was told that I may be one of the few people who can't use this specific dye so they got a better rating. read more

So disappointed!!!! And DISGUSTED!!!!!!!!! Was sent a gift certificate by my fiance for my b'day for a: 'aromatherapy massage' & 'signature pedicure' When i went in for my treatments was told that the person who does the aromatherapy massage was actually away and that i would be getting a regular massage...which was ok...i'v had better! Absolute Spa in Vancouver does an amazing job! Then proceeded to get my pedicure...which it turns out i ended up getting a FUNGAL INFECTION from!!! which was confirmed by my Dr!! and when i called to tell the Manager...she just blew me off by saying there was no possible way of my Dr being able to sure of a FUNGAL INFECTION because he didn't perfom a biopsy on my toes!! Which by the way my toe nails were an ABSOLUE DISGUSTING COLOR!!! For a very LONG time even after i had finished the course of prescription topical ointment prescribed by my Dr. I spend a lot of money at Spa's and have to say that for a 'big' name in the Spa business their customer service was just DISGUSTING!!!!!! I came here on my birthday with my Mom. She wanted to pamper me and decided since she has heard such great things about Spa Utopia we should go and check it out. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS! We were greeted by a (looked hungover) receptionist and the manager. The manager escorted us to the 'bathroom/changing room' where you undress and get into your robes. We then sat and waited... and waited...and waited until finally the lady came and took me for my facial. It was a great facial, and very relaxing and seemed like she knew what she was doing. Everything was great and my Mom said her massage was excellent! ... We then went into the change room, and I noticed a sign for 'complimentary makeup'. Since I had a facial my face was very red and blotchy. Since it was my birthday we were heading from the spa to have lunch with my whole family. Before we left I mentioned to the manager how I would like to take advantage of the 'complimentary makeup'. Just a touch up on my face before I go and see my family who was waiting for us at the restaurant. The manager rolled her eyes and said they were to busy to do it. I told her my situation and how I would just appreciate a little foundation, nothing major just to cover the red spots. She then through a fit (EXTREMLEY UN-PROFESSIONAL) and told me I should've thought about that before I came. She is right, but who says that to a paying customer? I then said, i can do it myself. She said no, she will get the receptionist to do it. The receptionist (REAKED like alchohol) quickly through some foundation on my face. I thanked her and said sorry for the inconvinience and AGAIN the manager rolled her eyes. I refused to pay. I walked out. I've never been treated like that in my life and I will NEVER go back. Sadly I loved coming here. I give it 2 stars because the lounge, steamroom and atmosphere are nice. However, I booked a facial months in advance and by the time I got to it they had changed the prices. The woman who gave me the treatment was nice enough but mentioned several times during my appointment that they would honor the price because I had booked it but the new price was more, suggesting that I was getting some sort of special deal. Basically, they added to the cost and added a small foot massage. If I book a facial I would like that and I would rather not be charged extra for something else that is unrelated. Apparently the product is different now too but for the first time, my skin did not have the glow it used to get with the previous product. Also, when they charge as much as they do, I hardly think the client needs to be repeatedly told about the increase as if the spa is doing them a favour. I would assume that if someone books something several months in advance and they decide to change the price during that time that it WOULD be honoured. The whole experience was poor and disappointing. To add to this I emailed them about the experience and no one replied. Sadly I won't be back. read more

My sister lives near the Langley location, so I took her there for the luxury designed for you facial for her birthday. For the price ($159 + GST each), I was not impressed and feel I got very low value for my money. I have been to much nicer spas that were less expensive. My biggest complaints are: 1) The girl who did my facial was very young and has many years experience to get under her belt before they should charge her out at this price. She was pulling on my skin because of lack of moisture during the exfoliation and very noisily cleaning up behind herself during the entire facial (not very relaxing for me). 2) The changing rooms are tiny and way too crowded for the amount of people that were there on Sunday. I felt like I was taking a shower in an RV Camper shower it was so confined. We were bumping into people in the common area and it was not relaxing trying to navigate around in such a small, busy space. There were also minimal products put out to freshen up with after. 3) After I booked the facials, I happened upon some gift cards at Costco (pay $200 for 5 $50 gift cards) and also received a $150 card from my boyfriend as a gift. I was informed when I paid that I could not use any of the card's value towards the gratuity. The only reason I can see they would do this is an attempt to profit off of the amounts leftover on the cards that people may never return to use. A cash grab. I cannot speak for the Vancouver location, as it has been a few years since I visited there, but I do not recommend you waste your money at the Langley location. I am sure there are nicer spas out that way that will give you much better value for you money. read more

I went there to get my hair done and off the hop I knew I had made a mistake, I spoke with the receptionist and was immediately greeted with rudeness and hostility after letting her know I was here for my appointment. I had to wait an extra half hour for her to actually talk to someone until they were ready for me. While my hair was being done I was under the impression my total would be somewhere around $100-$150 and after it was done my total came to around $135 which was definitely more than I thought they deserved especially considering how rude the staff is, next to no conversation while my hair was being done, the woman didn't even seem interested or really cared. After I payed and left sometime had passed before I got a call from them saying they had mixed up my ticket and that I was supposed to pay $350, they then asked me to come in so I could pay for the rest. Never in my life has this ever been a thing I have heard of from any business, normally when a mistake made by the company towards the consumer, it is often resolved on the companies end, and my hair is nice but definitely not worth $350, I've talked to some other patrons who have been here before and I have heard very similar stories, one happened recently actually to an Ashlea O I believe her name was. This business is clearly into ripping off their customers, I will not be going in to pay for the rest, and I will not return to this place. For your sake I don't recommend this place and to go literally anywhere else. This place is poorly managed and has terrible customer service. read more

This is a great spa to go pamper yourself at. While waiting for my massage, I was given tea and some light snacks. The atmosphere of the spa was very relaxing. They provide comfy robes and you are free to use the steam room before or after your massage. The practitioner was great. She always made sure I was comfortable and relaxed. I went to Spa Utopia to get my hair and makeup done on my wedding day, and I was so happy with the results! So when my former waxer moved away, I thought I would give Utopia another try. I was a little shocked at the initial price, $85 for a Brazilian wax?! Booked an appointment anyway, though. As always, the spa itself was bustling with activity, yet had a soothing atmosphere. I was greeted almost immediately by a very pleasant girl who offered me a beverage and escorted me to the spa area. Waited all of a minute before Pauline lead me to a waxing room. She was incredibly sweet and made me feel very comfortable and at ease! She was informative without being condescending, which I often find to be an issue at spas. Bottom line, she did her job efficiently. I was in and out in 25 minutes. And she was kind enough to let them know at the desk that we had only used a half hour, so the bill wasn't nearly as steep ($52), allowing for a more generous tip! I also loved that she didn't try to push a million products on me at the end, just recommending that I book my next couple of appointments in advance. Once I got home, I realized that I was not as smooth as I first anticipated... the majority of the hairs had been broken as opposed to ripped out at the root! I'll have to wait and see how it goes before complaining, but I am a little annoyed. The experience as a whole was good, but I will have to wait and see how the results pan out. read more
