Pretty good for city prices! The result also turned out pretty great. She even wrapped my feet in the end because I came in with inappropriate footwear hah. Will definitely be coming back. I came here for a mani/pedi around lunch and they were pretty busy, so my coworker and I made an appointment for a little later and came back. I was happy they gave us an honest estimate of the wait, instead of saying "pick a color" and making us sit and wait nervously through our lunch break. The spa/salon is bright and clean and the people working were joking around with each other and the customers, so they seemed much more happy in general than a lot of the other salons in the area. A mani/pedi with quick dry polish was $29.50 + tip and they were quick but thorough. They don't have a huge selection of colors, but what they do have are trendy and there is definitely something for everyone. I have been here a few times now and have found that it is fairly hit or miss. While my nails have always been acceptable (not the best, but not bad), the actual service leaves a lot to be desired. One technician in particular is very rude and has made me extremely uncomfortable on two occasions regarding me using the Snailz app versus doing everything direct through the salon. I like the convenience of the app because I hate calling places (I have some challenges with my hearing) and I like being able to check out quickly. If they don't like the fees associated with using the app - then that's a business decision they should re-evaluate rather than bothering their clientele. Some of the other technicians are not very friendly - I guess it would be best to describe them as aloof. I will likely entertain another salon in the future because Customer service is something that is important to me. Needed a quick manicure after-work and decided to head to Oggi. The salon shares the space with 3-4 hair stylists and has about 5 manicure stations, seems a bit cramped and dirty. The manicure was unusual, because I was also removing old gel polish, so I expected that they would soak off the gel and then I would soak in a manicure bowl -- loosen up my cuticles, etc. Not them, no, they struggled to scrape away the gel polish and then proceeded to push back and cut my dry hard cuticles. When I asked about the soaking, she simply and flat out told me no. The polish selection was minimal, old with dirt and dust in the polish trays. The polish was so old and thick no amount of acetone could stretch that dried up polish out. The newest colors they have, they keep on a shelf behind their stations. I found a new color, or at least she was passing it off as "New". She applied two coats and sent me to dry; I scuffed the polish and needed a touch up, she applied TWO more coats. It was so thick and messy, I had her re-do it. Two days later, my hands looked washed up, like I was sitting them in water and bleach all day...they were a disaster. I just moved to the area and someone bought me a gift card here as a housewarming gift. I went one time to get a manicure. The atmosphere was chaotic,it felt very typical of a low end nail salon. I ended up waiting 15 minutes for my appointment and it was okay nothing special. I made an appointment and went back again for a pedicure and dip powder. The pedicure was decent, and the technician was nice. Next was the dip powder. I have had dip powder done in the past so i have a general idea of the process. The woman that did my nails was different from the one that did my pedicure and made me feel extremely uncomfortable that I had small nails. Toward the end of the service, the top coat was not drying properly. She took it off and put it on 3 more times. My cuticles were bleeding from the buffing and filing. She put me under the UV light, which dip powder doesn't require (one of the reasons I like it). I left and 5 minutes later two of the nails started to peel. I went back and she fixed them again, putting me under the UV light. The next day, each top coat was peeling off and before I knew it I was able to just easily pop off all of dip powder- which is supposed to last 3-4 weeks. A block away from where I work, which is a plus. Manicure is $9, which is also a plus. Went on a Monday around 6:30pm and there was no wait, also a plus. But the manicure was overall terribly done. After asking if I wanted my nails cut, and I said No...she filed my nails down so short as if she cut them anyway. She also cut my cuticles without asking, which I would've said Yes to anyway but normally they ask if they should cut them. I know many girls who don't like their cuticles cut. Only to arrive and for them to look at me like I didn't belong and then asked why I was there. I told them I made an appoint online on the Snailz. They said they will not take my appointment (I entered my card information and my appointment was confirmed) and that she wouldn't take my appointment. Honestly getting double booked sucks but it is not the end of the world. The problem is when I was trying to ask her what does she mean my appointment doesn't count she literally turned her back on me and began ignoring me and essentially told me to just leave. I did. The way I was treated, the lack of care, and the unprofessionalism was disgusting. As a business d not use an app to book appointments if you do not even check said app for your schedule. As a human do not treat people like dirt. This experience was honestly hurtful and I hope you all chose to spend your money elsewhere with a business that respects your time and personhood. Estheticians get the job done. Nothing more, nothing less. For a "spa" (I use that term loosely) located in the city, $11 for a manicure is a decent price. The manicurist, who was also the front desk rep, was friendly and followed my one instruction to not cut my nails too short. She cut, filed, sprayed a substance on each nail, then buffed, next applied a gel-like substance to cut my cuticles. Prior to starting, the manicurist had the nail equipment in a bag and placed them in some type of sanitizing system (with the equipment still in the bag). I'm not sure how I feel about a radiation sanitizing equipment (I'm guessing, but it looked like a microwave and had orange light when it opened). I don't know the science, but I prefer sanitizing to involve something liquid be poured on and then a wipe down. I found this concerning, because no matter where I do my nails, the manicurist makes a finger bleed when cutting my cuticles. Spa Ogg was no exception to the rule. When she saw I was bleeding she made a sad face and looked at me. I guess that was the apology, lol. Back to the process, she sprayed a green substance on my hands, then pumped some olive oil hand lotion and performed a quick hand massage. I chose clear nail polish. First she used one bottle, then an actual clear one. She the. turned on a fan (not the fans where one dries one nails, but an actual fan). I was to hold my hands in front. Once again, I couldn't mind since I paid so little. I used an app and a coupon and paid only $6.50 + tip. Tight space. The company does it all. Unfortunately, I would not say this had spa like qualities. No relaxing music, overhearing everyone's convo, and the news on. I could hear everyone's convo from every direction. Across the room was a Chatty Cathy gossiping about gorgeousness and the men who desired. The ladies near me and I would look at each other and just laugh. You couldn't help but just laugh. I came in for a mani pedi because I wanted to have a relaxing day. Was done with my pedicure and gel manicure ($54) after 35 minutes. My pedicure was 15 minutes INCLUDING taking my nail polish off. She slapped some lotion on my legs and that was my massage. My manicure was fine, but my nails were cut too short, though I requested they stay as long as possible, and there is a hair or something under the polish on my thumb nail so the paint is uneven. The space is nice too. However, the experience felt a bit rushed and rough. Both my thumb cuticles started to bleed, and you can still see the dried blood at the base of my left thumb. I wish I can give this place negative stars. I went about a month ago and my nails havent been the same since. I had on my nails powder and went to Spa Oggi to get a gel manicure. They charged me extra for a soak, they dont charge extra if you have gel nails and want to remove but since I had powder they charged extra, said it would "take longer"(even though to get off powder and gel alike you need to soak, fine ok charge me extra. The lady doing my nails spoke no English. I mean like zero. She kept using that whirring tool that they use to smooth down the nails to try and get the powder off, most places do this after soaking and it comes right off. She kept pulling my hands out of the soak early to try and use the smoothing tool. It came to a point that she tried to use a METRO CARD to scrape off the powder from my nails. A freaking METRO CARD. She kept using the tool until I was feeling uncomfortable and told her to stop, she had legitimately shaved down my nails. They were paper thin and were bendy. I literally wanted to cry and leave but my nails looked so bad and I was going to work so I stayed. Worst burgundy color ever, sloppily done just a big big big NO. Please if you want to get your nails done, don't come here for the sake of your nails. My nails have broken and are taking forever to grow back now and this was over a month ago. Walking in might throw you off, they have quite a few services crammed into their relatively small space. There is a hair salon on one side, spa chairs and pedicures along the back wall, and manicure tables on the right. Very affordable but they do charge for extras, Not an arm and a leg, but I paid an extra $1 for the Nailtique hardener and another .50 for the nail drying drops. (Get that money girls). I went into this salon on a whim because they had a Snailz deal.... I normally get dip because it works well for my nails.... long story short, my nails look horrible. I went in on Tuesday and it is now Friday and l my nails are lifting. This is by far the worst dip manicure I have had. When taking off my old manicure she removed the old dip powder with a metro card.... she filed my nails which was good but then ended up cutting my finger. She couldn't get the top coat to work properly and I asked her why she said she wasn't sure.... and proceeded to tell me all I needed to do was apply a top coat of my own. I'm sorry but this is just so bad and I'm very frustrated that I wasted my money. If your interested in dip powder is this not the place. read more

Maybe five minutes later, a nail technician came to take care of my nails--I came here because of the good reviews. First of all, she rushed my nails. My nails were in bad shape and she was sooooo fast and not attentive. She kept checking the clock as if it was the last day on Earth and she had to rush to go home to collect her things. My appointment should have lasted 30 minutes, but instead it was maybe 17 minutes total!! Another customer came in and my nail technician got so worried that she was gonna leave if she didn't hurry up with my nails. But how if her appointment was at 6:45 and it was only 6:20!?? The tip thing is true here as well. it's been a week since the appointment and the gel peeled off on my thumb already. They used cheap gel nail polish. The posted price of a pedicure is $19 but I somehow got charged $23 for a french pedicure despite bringing my own bright pink nail polish. The decor leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes you can call exposed brick and ceiling boards charming, but this place is a bit rough around the edges. There are a few hair salon stations in the front and it makes for an interesting environment. Pro: Razor on the heels. The women speak english (That might matter to some people. I've never had a problem communicating with any one at a nail salon before). Cons: VERY short massage. I'm talking maybe 3 minutes. I was pretty disappointed. Apparently there is a Spa Pedicure that costs around $37 and I'm guessing that's where you get more of a massage. They do offer a 10 minute for $12 foot massage. My pedicure chair didn't recline which made things a bit uncomfortable. There were 2 other chairs open but we had to stick with the broken one. I understand that they wanted to put space between me and the other person getting a pedicure, but the client was uncomfortable :( I know, I could have spoken up. I first came here in utter desperation after I tried some at-home treatments, including hair dye, which looked barely acceptable in my bathroom mirror... the next morning I saw my reflection in the cold, hard office bathroom lighting and was horrified! I was able to walk into Spa Oggi at lunch, and when I walked out, felt I could go back to work with my head held high. A couple of weeks later I went back for keratin. No regrets! I came here for a mani/pedi because its the only decent nail salon around my job since the closing of Stone Nails. There will always be a long wait around lunch time but their service is not stellar. My nail technician was June and she rushed through the whole service and was very rough. The nail polishes always tend to be dry and they never carry the latest Essie/OPIs. Go here if you have no other option. It's def a step up from the salons in Maiden Lane but not the greatest. They also don't use water to soak you hand cuticles. They simply use a cream which is useless to me since i need to soak my cuticles in water longer to have them soften. Other than Fannie, who did a fantastic job on my gel manicure to complete in a half hour, I was incredibly annoyed at whom I assume was the owner and how he handles his business. I arrived at 11:45am and was told by him that it would be a ten minute wait to get my gel manicure and normal pedicure started. I waited almost a half hour for a technician to finish. When I complained upon leaving that I didn't get a chance to get my pedicure because of the wait(which he told me was 10 minutes), his sarcastic response was "You have to wait for a good thing." No, you just be honest about the wait time and don't set expectations for your business that you can't achieve. I got a gel manicure here a week ago. It looked decent, but I definitely felt like $40 (including tip and tax) was a bit pricey considering the level of service (not great) and outcome. But I chocked it up to NYC prices and left. However, within four days my nails severely chipped (like half of the polish came off on a few nails) which is not ok for a gel- and I wasn't doing anything crazy with my hands. I went back today to see if they could fix them for me. They begrudgingly did (only reason not giving one star) but not without acting annoyed about it. A weird joint - it's a classic nail shop that has a few hairdressers' chairs in it. I assume they rent them out, the two seem to be wholly independent of each other. ***UPDATE*** The hair salon section has been replaced by a bunch of dudes from Staten Island (don't get me wrong, I love my dudes from Staten Island!) who seem to do barbering, with an occassional short short ladies cut now. The nail salon section got all new comfy massage chairs, and i had a nice pedicure. Only give the upgraded "spa" pedicure a miss, go with a basic for around $19. A fine job. They also seem to do a lot of business in the UV gels and all sorts of artificial nails. People seemed happy and return customers. I can't speak about the nail salon - i didn't like that you are right up against the window, so everyone sees you, including getting your heels pumiced during a pedicure. Not so appetizing to the viewer carrying their lunch either, I am sure. And it's a little shabby - I'm a fanatic about cleanliness at nail salons. Then there is the hair part. I don't remember names, but my friend has had her hair blown out by the dude, and been happy. Not too expensive, about $45.00 for a blow out. Then there's the chick that cut my hair - again, no name, sorry. I walked in and she was eating chicken, which was weird because it was early. But I guess she was hungry. Anyway, she washed her hands and washed my hair. And she starting cutting - I gotta tell you, I was nervous. She was blabbing like crazy about whatever and she seemed a little sloppy with the scissors, and I was used to very technical haircuts from my former stylist. But you know what? It's been growing out well for the past two months, and I'm thinking about visiting her again. $65.00 and the ability to get my hair cut during the work week vs. trekking to midtown on a saturday to drop $240 at Oscar B?
