I usually hate Aveda salons. My experiences are always super weird and a little pretentious, all facade... But I have to say, my technician today totally made up for it!! She was really great and very friendly. I went in for a bazillion wax and didn't feel a thing!! I'm definitely not new to this service and have had plenty of kind and knowledgeable experiences. She did express to me that her initial training (assuming through Aveda) did not include how to do a Brazilian, which seems silly to me, but that she has had enough experience experimenting on herself and I must say, her technique definitely lived up. I didn't feel a thing. She was careful and vocal with me about my particular situation. I am extremely satisfied with my time here and would recommend their waxing service if I could remember her name..? Four stars because, come one, train your techs. Any Solon or spa I've been to usually offers tons of classes and seminars to train techs and also keep them up on the latest technology and practices. And one as wide spread as Aveda I definitely would expect a higher standard of educating its employees. Anyway, I'm glad she was here today. read more

After several visits, 2 stars is all I can justify. I take major points off for not having a steam room and only having a very small sauna. The toiletries available in the locker room are good quality and they have many items available for use, so that's a plus. Overall, it's just a very small / boutique spa. So given that the spa amenities are few in quantity, I really expect high-caliber services. The massage I had started off really well - great pressure and very thorough, but the masseuse started trying to sell me on flying her out to be the masseuse for my company - and she wouldn't let the issue die. I tried to just say "uh huh, yeah, they probably won't go for that" or gently let her know I wasn't interested, but she kept bringing it up, which was anything but relaxing, and I'm sure not allowed by the spa/hotel management. It was incredibly unprofessional and really ruined my experience. My latest mani/pedi was fairly pleasant and only included one attempted up-sell to paraffin, which I probably could have used, but really didn't feel like doing. Conversation was good and minimal - I'm not a big talker during spa treatments - I'm there to relax, not really to try to make small talk. The mani/pedi area is in the same room as the hair salon, and although there didn't appear to be many clients in the styling area, I overheard a lot of chit chat among the stylists, and unfortunately overheard them gossiping about the group that I was a part of who would be trickling in and out that afternoon as well as several local residents. Luckily they didn't say anything too negative, but as a client, I'd really rather think that they aren't talking about me after I leave. That's really unprofessional, especially since they all knew I was sitting right there - they clearly didn't know I was a part of the group they were talking about or that I'm a family member of a resident, but still, I find it quite rude and incredibly inappropriate. As far as the quality of my mani/pedi, it was fair. I felt rushed to pick out my colors since the manicurist was standing right next to me waiting on me to decide. The rushed feeling didn't stop there since I have bubbles in my polish on several fingers. I can't figure it out since I was the ONLY person in the salon getting any nail treatments done. Anyway, for the price and caliber of the salon, I wish I'd had a better experience. I could pay half the price at home and get the same result - sadly. read more

Decided to try out the spa during spa week. The massage was $50 so I thought why not get out of Vegas for a few hours for a spa day. When I walked in I was greeted by a guy who basically showed me the door to the woman's locker room. He did get me some sandals tho. So I go in and find a locker and there is a nice fluffy robe folded up. Thankfully I am familiar with the locks on the lockers or I would have been SOL. So I wander around checking the place out and finally run into a woman who works there..who come to find out will be my masseuse later. I ask..where is the jacuzzi? She says there is no jacuzzi..only a DRY sauna. Well ok..thats weird. So what to do for 45 min? Took a shower, sat in sauna for a bit..thats kinda lame. So went and grabbed my magazine I brought and chilled out in the waiting room. They had iced & hot tea,iced water some fruit and Kashi bars. I was so glad when Marilyn called my name. She did a very nice massage. But not the best one I have had. After I went and hung out poolside and enjoyed the amazing view. The view deserves 5 stars that's for sure. Loews is a beautiful hotel on a great piece of property but they really need to step up the spa area in order to keep up with the times. I fear Loews will be next on the chopping block since Lake Las Vegas is seriously turning into a ghost town..a really beautiful ghost town. I will not go back to this spa since there are soooo many better ones in Vegas. read more

Saying it's only your second time doing a treatment is not the best way to start a spa session. 25 minutes late isn't great either. So already, a bad first impression. The entire appointment I couldn't stop thinking about how it was her 2nd time doing this which makes me wonder if it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. Regardless, I don't think I could have been less relaxed if I tried. I'm pretty sure I heard her burp.The body masque application felt rushed, I got hit in the face twice with the stiff plastic while she was wrapping me, and the massage was extremely uneven. It was also only 70 instead of 80. My therapist was very sweet and seemed like she was trying which I why I'm not using her name and honestly if she was anything less I would have complained when my appointment was ended. read more

I recently visited the Westin at Lake Las Vegas and I was extremely excited to be able to try the spa facility as part of our resort fee. That excitement was quickly taken away due to the staff at the spa. My husband and I checked into the hotel at about 3:30pm and the front desk agent let us know that the spa closed at 5pm. I figured that would be plenty of time to relax a little before dinner. Before walking in, I could see a staff member that was so bored that she was unscrewing shampoo bottles and smelling the product. So when I walked in, I let her know I was wanting to check in to use the spa facility since I was a hotel guest. Without putting down the product, she told me that I could check in at the desk. I go up to the receptionist (I didn't see her name tag but younger girl with dark hair and glasses) and let her know I was checking in to use the facility. She seemed a little confused at first so she asked me what I wanted to use. I let her know that I wanted to use the jacuzzis, steam room, etc. She let me know that they were closing at 4:30pm that day. I replied back just saying "oh ok, I was notified that it was 5pm for closing. Since it is only 4pm now, I would like to use the facility for a short amount of time". The response back was awful. She replied, and I quote, "well you can't use the facility because we've already put everything away and we're about to leave". I just thought to myself, you just told me you were closing in 30 minutes, now you're suddenly about to leave? I knew there was no point in arguing anymore with her so I just left. I work in the hotel industry and I use to work in the spa industry for 8 years, how the receptionist handled the conversation was completely unprofessional. She could have made up some random reason as to why I couldn't use the spa and I would have believed it if it was delivered in a professional manner. I will be happy to return to the Westin but I won't set foot again in Spa Moulay, horrible first impression. read more

We did a groupon deal and 4 of us had a wonderful half day of pampering. We had no idea it was so far from vegas, but the service we recieved was great. We had massages and manicures and pedicures for 3 woman and one guy who was a good sport. Staff was kind and inviting and was willing to chat or just let you enjoy the quiet and unwind. We all left feeling so much better we wished we were back this week. read more

I bought a Travel Zoo special with 3 other friends. "Take advantage of the Moroccan-inspired Spa Moulay at the "lavish" Loews Lake Las Vegas (Fodor's) and enjoy a 50-minute Swedish massage, 50-minute spa pedicure and a full-day cabana rental. This rest and relaxation package costs $129, regularly $285." What's not to like?! Unfortunately, when all 4 of us tried to book they only had 1 massage therapist and 1 nail technician on staff. So in order for us to be there together we would have had to have our services begin at 9 am and end at 6 pm. Rather than do that, 2 [we'll call them Group A] decided to have their services done one weekend and the other 2 [we'll call them Group B] decided to have services done during the week. Group A did get a cabana rental, but the fridge that was supposed to be stocked with "complimentary fruit and FIJI water plus the comfort of your own couch, flat-screen TV and misters to keep cool" had ONE dehydrated grape rolling around the bottom of the fridge and 1 bottle of water. Which left Group A to sample the $18 - yes, that's what I said, $18 - cocktails. Group B decided to skip the cabana and focus on services. Group B would like to concur with other reviewers that the actual services are probably worth 2 stars. The massage was not the best, nor the worst I have ever received. The pedicure was lacking any massage, and can hardly be called a "spa pedicure". And though they don't tell you up front, the hotel policy is to charge a 20% gratuity - which is non-negotiable. The woman who checked us out couldn't explain the additional charges on our credit card, outside of the fact that I upgraded $5 to a French pedicure and the rest was gratuity. To add insult to injury, she called back the next day to admit she charged me the wrong amount, was crediting my card, and then CHARGING ME AN ADDITIONAL $11. When I called back to get an itemization, she was still unable to answer the question and had her manager call me back. I am happy to report that after advising Stephanie of my total experience, she allowed me to leave the gratuity I wanted and even offered to have Group B set up with a cabana on a return visit. I had an evening event at Lake Las Vegas and we both booked treatments at the promotional rate during Spa Week. Highly recommend Kwang and Shere for massages and Angela, aesthetician. With your spa treatment, you get privileges at the hotel's terrific outdoor resort pool and the spa's gym as well -- an added bonus. We'd go back because the treatments we received were among the best we've had - anywhere. Just terrific. Highly skilled staff. Very friendly and helpful staff in the lounges, too. We also love the property and Lake Las Vegas itself. For someone visiting the spa with a significant other: Some of the spas we have visited in the past feature co-ed lounges and other areas. This one does not -- other than the gym and outdoor pool. No bottled water - just cups -- even in the gym from what I could tell. I drink a ton of water when I run on the treadmills, so if I came back I'd bring my own bottle to refill. Also, if you like to read and relax before or after your spa treatment -- as I do -- women should bring their own book or magazine. It's possible I missed them, but on the day I visited, no magazines in the women's lounge, although my husband said the men's lounge had magazines, etc. -- even a TV. And sauna but no steam room that we noticed on either the men's or women's side. Again - had a great experience and highly recommend this spa. I stayed for a week in June at Westin, I thought we would get manicure and pedicure. We would have been better off going to a place in a strip mall. They do not know how to give a spa manicure and pedicure. Also automatically charging a 20 percent gratuity. I should be able to decide how much to give based on the service and experience. I would never go back. I wilk always ask prices and if there is any add on to the price. I have been to other spa at hotels and never had such a bad experience. read more

Nothing too great about this spa. The property is beautiful but I only went because of a groupon. For starters I called three Saturdays in a row and they had no availability. I asked if this was due to being busy or if it was because I had a groupon and they actually said it was because of the groupon. After complaining I was accommodated however I couldn't get a massage I could only do a mani-pedi and facial. No problem for me I needed the pampering. Mani-pedi was ok, way to pricey for what it was. I get a better foot massage at the mom and pop nail place down the road for much less. I was nickeled and dimmed the entire mani-pedi, the water was barely warm, and the massage chairs are lack luster. The nail tech was really nice and my nails do look good. The facial was amazing, no complaints there. I would not recommend this spa either, as there are way too many nicer spas available in town for the same amount. read more
