Unfortunately, the massage itself was disappointing. I left feeling nearly as tense as when I arrived. The only element that noticeably helped relax my muscles was the use of hot towels. The massage pressure was either too light, or the time spent on each area was too brief to provide meaningful relief. The spa amenities were also underwhelming. Only Lipton tea and basic coffee were offered, which felt lacking for a $200 service. Those small details and elevated touches are often what make a spa experience feel worth the investment. While there is space to relax, snack, and spend a few hours, the overall offering didn't match expectations. Additionally, the jacuzzi was only lukewarm, and one of the shower heads showed visible green buildup, which was concerning. Overall, the experience did not align with the premium pricing or the level of relaxation typically expected from a spa visit.

Worst Spa Experience of My Life -- Unsafe, Unprofessional, and It Completely Ruined a Thoughtful…read moreBirthday Gift This spa visit was a birthday gift from a close friend, and we were both genuinely excited to spend the day relaxing together. What was supposed to be a peaceful, pampering experience turned into the most disappointing and upsetting spa visit I've ever had -- so bad, in fact, I walked out of my massage with 30 minutes still remaining. The problems started right away. The lockers had no locks, and we were told to carry our purses and belongings into the treatment rooms. This immediately felt unsafe and unprofessional -- not what you expect from a spa that claims to offer a secure, relaxing environment. Then we discovered that none of the main amenities were working: * The steam room was out of order * The sauna was closed * The hot tub had no working bubbles or jets -- just still, lukewarm water None of this was mentioned at the time of booking or check-in. These features were a major reason we chose this spa, and yet we were offered no heads-up, no discount, and no real apology. The massage was not only uncomfortable -- it was unacceptable: * I was burned with a hot towel, to the point where it stung * The therapist had long nails that scratched me several times * And when asking me to turn over, she pulled my hair I was so done! My friend, who had gifted me this experience, said her massage was just "okay," and she felt horrible that her thoughtful gesture turned into something stressful. When we expressed our concerns at checkout, the staff didn't offer to refund the services -- I had to ask and then they couldn't provide a receipt or any documentation. No confirmation, no breakdown, nothing in writing. The manager was not there and other than the girls at the front desk we had no one to talk to. After everything we had already been through, this just added to the sense of disorganization. Worst Spa Experience of My Life

She was really great and very friendly. I went in for a bazillion wax and didn't feel a thing!! I'm definitely not new to this service and have had plenty of kind and knowledgeable experiences. She did express to me that her initial training (assuming through Aveda) did not include how to do a Brazilian, which seems silly to me, but that she has had enough experience experimenting on herself and I must say, her technique definitely lived up. I didn't feel a thing. She was careful and vocal with me about my particular situation. I am extremely satisfied with my time here and would recommend their waxing service if I could remember her name..? Four stars because, come one, train your techs. Any Solon or spa I've been to usually offers tons of classes and seminars to train techs and also keep them up on the latest technology and practices. And one as wide spread as Aveda I definitely would expect a higher standard of educating its employees. Anyway, I'm glad she was here today.

After several visits, 2 stars is all I can justify…read more I take major points off for not having a steam room and only having a very small sauna. The toiletries available in the locker room are good quality and they have many items available for use, so that's a plus. Overall, it's just a very small / boutique spa. So given that the spa amenities are few in quantity, I really expect high-caliber services. The massage I had started off really well - great pressure and very thorough, but the masseuse started trying to sell me on flying her out to be the masseuse for my company - and she wouldn't let the issue die. I tried to just say "uh huh, yeah, they probably won't go for that" or gently let her know I wasn't interested, but she kept bringing it up, which was anything but relaxing, and I'm sure not allowed by the spa/hotel management. It was incredibly unprofessional and really ruined my experience. My latest mani/pedi was fairly pleasant and only included one attempted up-sell to paraffin, which I probably could have used, but really didn't feel like doing. Conversation was good and minimal - I'm not a big talker during spa treatments - I'm there to relax, not really to try to make small talk. The mani/pedi area is in the same room as the hair salon, and although there didn't appear to be many clients in the styling area, I overheard a lot of chit chat among the stylists, and unfortunately overheard them gossiping about the group that I was a part of who would be trickling in and out that afternoon as well as several local residents. Luckily they didn't say anything too negative, but as a client, I'd really rather think that they aren't talking about me after I leave. That's really unprofessional, especially since they all knew I was sitting right there - they clearly didn't know I was a part of the group they were talking about or that I'm a family member of a resident, but still, I find it quite rude and incredibly inappropriate. As far as the quality of my mani/pedi, it was fair. I felt rushed to pick out my colors since the manicurist was standing right next to me waiting on me to decide. The rushed feeling didn't stop there since I have bubbles in my polish on several fingers. I can't figure it out since I was the ONLY person in the salon getting any nail treatments done. Anyway, for the price and caliber of the salon, I wish I'd had a better experience. I could pay half the price at home and get the same result - sadly.

My masseur who is an elder lady was pretty good. Even when she was talking, her hands didn't stop. The session comes with your option of hot stone and Ashiatsu massage, a deep-tissue bodywork technique where the practitioner uses their bare feet instead of hands to deliver deep, broad, and consistent pressure while holding onto overhead bars for balance. I had to tell her a couple of times that it's too much and hurt. But my friend's masseur, a younger lady, was milking her time and barely put in any pressure to the massage. I'm happy with my Masseur's service but what might concern me is when I paid, they literally grab all the cash (I was paying for us) before I determined the tips. A bit scary and too aggressive. I didn't even get the chance to see if they gave me the correct changes back or not.

My girlfriend was kind enough to book and prepay for a 90-minute deep tissue massage for me, and decided to book one for herself at the same time. The first 45 minutes were spot on. The original masseuse found the knots in my back, neck, shoulders, and left hip and went straight to work. But midway through the session, someone else entered the room and took over without warning. First off, her hands were freezing. Second, she was completely worthless--zero pressure, no deep tissue work at all, just loads of oil and light rubbing. She "worked" on my right leg, but did absolutely nothing to address the muscle tension. By the end of the session, I was drenched in oil and literally walking with a limp because my left leg had been properly massaged by the first person, but my right leg received zero actual treatment. To make matters worse, when my girlfriend (who had the same masseuse for her entire session) approached the manager about why my therapist was switched, the manager's excuse was: "Oh, because it was her turn." No apology whatsoever. The manager just casually said, "When he comes back, he can request the full session be with the original masseuse." There will not be a next time. Terrible customer service, zero care for a client in pain, and completely unprofessional management. I would never recommend Thai Spa on Eastern Ave.
