I love their pearl tea more than any other pearl tea I've had on east side! This place has a great atmosphere and the staff is just wonderful. Service can be a little slow at times but the staff are a pleasure to be around and really care about the customer. There's a nice seating area outside during the summers with a pond, a dining room inside, and then the spa. I have yet to go to the spa but I think I will do that on my next visit. This truly is a GEM on east side. Pros: - Delicious pearl tea AND delicious regular tea. - Croissants taste good. - Dumplings are delicious. - Great atmosphere. - Customer service A+, friendly staff and very considerate. - One of the few places I can go to work or read during the day and really feel relaxed. - For a shop of their kind I really love their hours. 10am-8pm? I have been going to Cafe Chi since they opened a couple of years ago and have been addicted ever since. As many reviewers have alluded to in previous posts, their boba is made from freshly brewed quality tea and they use real milk (actually I believe it's creamer?) so the result is fresh and fragrant. The hubby and I brought visitors from Taiwan here before and they absolutely loved it. I myself am a pretty avid bubble tea consumer and have been to several other local bubble tea places and Cafe Chi, by far, serves the best. Cafe Chi is also my go to place for when I'm craving Taiwanese style food. They don't have a huge selection but that's because they are not primarily a restaurant (they are actually primarily a spa that's right next door which I can review in a different post). Doesn't matter, the menu selection they have is great! I usually get a soup dish (mi-fen tang, wonton tang, niu ro mein - (dishes in chinese)). We like to bring our 2 year old here (we've been bringing him since he was a newborn) so that he can play in the outside courtyard when it's nice out. This was my first foray into authentic Taiwanese Cuisine, and I will say it sure took long enough. Should have done this long ago! Got curious about trying Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup after reading various yummy-sounding recipes for it online, so when I found out there was this cute little Cafe serving authentic Taiwanese Noodle Soup right in the vicinity of our gym, it was decided! Ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, Taro Cake, and Wonton Noodle Soup. All were very good in flavor, consistency, portion, and satisfaction. Easily agreed with my stomach, which in itself made this place a great hit! Friendly staff, quaint environment, and amazingly good food for a place that looks more like a coffee house than a restaurant. After reading the other reviews, think it may be time to try their milk tea lol. I used to think Chinese food wasn't very good, but perhaps it's because I was eating the wrong kind. I have been reluctant to write a review for this place because it is such a hidden gem and I wanted to keep it all to myself! My mom, sister, and I have made it a tradition of coming in for pedicures whenever they visit from out of state. This is by far the most quiet, relaxing, and tranquil spa I have ever been to. There is no acetone or chemical smell at all, which is such a turn off with any other nail salons. The spa seems to have it all with a beautiful garden, patio & pond where you can enjoy some bubble tea from the adjoining restaurant after your nail service. This most recent time we went, they were unfortunately a little short staffed, but Trinh was so accommodating and still agreed to allow all 3 of us to come at once. She was thorough as always, but also managed to get us all taken care of quickly considering she is only one woman! read more

My co-worker brought me here for lunch one day. To my surprise, the little cafe resides in a residential area! Who knew there's a hidden spa that serves Taiwanese food in Issaquah? We both had the Beef noodle soup combo which I thought was just okay. They way the serve the dish is a little unusual. They serve the beef (with a side tofu) on a plate and noodle and soup in a bowl. Soup base is alright and so does the noodle. But the beef itself taste pretty good. I would like to come back and try other dishes - Their current special is handmade dumplings. They look so good in the ad...have to find a day to come back and try. The courtyard looks beautiful and peaceful, it definitely adds a point to the dining experience. I would love to come out here again when it's sunny and enjoy a bubble tea in the court yard. And btw their bubble tea taste pretty good, I had a black tea and tapioca (asked for less sugar) and it's such a good treat after lunch, gave a little extra energy to work in the afternoon :D read more

Came at the end of the day half an hour before closing time. Service was alright, but they seemed to be out of stock of many things. Their menu is just a collection of photos and prices on a board, and you pay up front. When we asked for udon noodles, they said it would take an extra long time, like 20 mins. When we asked for shaved ice, they were out of all the toppings except taro. When we asked for milk tea they said they were out of tapioca. Probably would be better if we went at normal hours, but was fairly dissappointed. We ended up getting the rice noodle soup and milk tea without boba. They served the food fairly quickly. The review is only for the beef noodle soup. Being Taiwanese, I'm always happy to find more options for Taiwanese food. So today I randomly checked on Yelp for Taiwanese cuisine, Cafe Chi came up with decent reviews. Right away I grabbed my boyfriend and car key and drove straight there. Anyway, we both ordered the beef noodle soup, which is a signature dish that usually reminds me of home. The food came, the beef slices were served on a side plate and I thought they were good and tender, so were the dry tofu slices. But the broth had a really strong smell and taste, maybe a bit too "flavorful"? We couldn't stop drinking the water, and I really wanted to ask if besides the extra soy sauce, maybe salt, also maybe quite a bit of MSG were cooked in it? Anyway, we were both hungry, so we finished the noodles, but not the soup. I wish I liked it, but it was not for me or my boyfriend who's only been introduced to Taiwanese cuisine couple times. read more

The first thing you notice when you walk in to Spa Chi is how good it smells! My expercience has been when you go to a Nail Salon in Seattle it gags you with the chemical smell. I came upon a Living Social deal for Spa Chi and I am going to West Palm Beach so I thought I could take advantage of the deal, check out a new place and have my nails in shape for my trip. Spa Chi was delightful from the way they answered the phone to the calming atmosphere and smell and my nails turned out beautifully. I loved the idea of a coffee shop next door which I will try next time. Spa Chi is an incredible Issaquah business. They are conveniently located in downtown Issaquah right by shops and restaurants. The spa itself is down a side street where parking can be limited. The building looks small on the outside, but inside, it is clean, bright and well maintained. On weekends there is not always a receptionist at the front desk, I am not sure about on weekdays. This can be a little frustrating when you have to wait 10+ minutes to be acknowledged and check in. I purchased a coupon for a recovery facial. The price was fair and the previous reviews were fairly positive, so I took a chance. I was not disappointed! Leah did a wonderful job. She made me feel very comfortable and at ease. After the process, I am relaxed and my skin feels amazing. I would suggest her to anyone! It's also a bonus that they now offer online scheduling. At my convenience I can easily book what services I want. There prices are a little spendy for my taste, but for the quality of service, the few extra dollars are worth it every now and then. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in downtown Issaquah. Love the outdoor seating and will be sad when the weather turns cold and I won't be able to sit by the mini waterfall and eat my amazing Taiwanese lunch. Meals are perfectly balanced with delicious protein, veggies, and rice or noodles, and I feel great and energized after eating there. A perfect spa lunch! Now I just need to try the spa.... Had a mani-pedi here and it was unprofessional, uncomfortable and unsanitary. The cart that they used for mani/pedi was wheeled over and used on the person next to me; I didn't see them swop out the clippers etc for a fresh set for them. The manicure was done at the same time as the pedicure which is fine but I had to twist sideways since the stool she was sitting on was lower than my chair. There was also no soaking of my hands/fingers prior to the cutting and trimming. I was asked twice where I lived, and asked what color I wanted but beyond that the 3 ladies working there chatted away to each other while another lady kept bringing drinks to them from the cafe section. The person doing my pedicure would pause to check her phone. The location and gardens are great and beautiful, but I will not be back. read more

Came with a group of 5 on a slow day... the food came out one by one probably 7 to 10 min apart so don't wait till the last dish. They don't have menus so you just order up front looking at pictures. As far as the cafe outside is beautiful with a little pond and mini waterfall. Very peaceful and the inside is more like a mom and pop joint with decorations. I ordered the beef noodle which they said was their most popular dish. The dish was too authentic tasting for me so didn't enjoy it as much. My wife got the udon and milk tea and both were good. Even though this place is very nice it is a very unprofessional place, trying to contact them and make an appointment is a joke. They apparently do not have a receptionist so they staff all answer they phone, if it gets picked up. I showed up 10 min early to my appointment because i had never been in, the technician showed up right at the appointment time. Okay fine, then it took her 10 mins to set up. She then proceeded to inform me that she did not work on that particular day and she was coming in only for me, that she was invited to a awesome Seahawks party she was missing out on because someone booked the appointment wrong......um excuse me. Not my fault. Then i did the shellac that last "2 weeks" the shellac chipped the very next day. I was hoping that this place would at lest be good, since its so close to my home. I was craving bubble tea and saw the good rating here- was in the area so wanted to try it out. I'm assuming the food is much better cos the boba really wasn't that great. Too sweet, not too authentic, boba was just okay. The noodle soups people were eating did look good though so I'm willing to come back and try it if I"m in the area again but otherwise there are other spots for boba. We met some friends here for lunch and it was a different experience. There is no "menu", but a bunch of pictures of items on the wall. I like that - it reminds me of some of my favorite hole in the wall places in Chicago. I was disappointed that I pointed to a picture of a bubble tea drink (plum black tea with lychee popping boba and regular boba, and the drink that they gave me had lychee jelly instead of lychee popping boba. I asked them what happened to the popping boba, and they said they were out (or at least I think that is what they said, as half of the explanation was in Chinese, which I do not understand.) I wish they had told me that when I ordered, because I would have just ordered the regular boba instead of splitting it with lychee jelly. I thought that their udon soup was good, although the broth was a little underseasoned, although not as plain as the ramen broth. Parking is pretty easy on the street, which was difficult at first for me to see, because there is no "sidewalk" per se - it is just flat, unpaved road, and so you have to give some room for people to walk on, and park out a little further. read more

I admit I come here too much, and can't stay away! Awesome Taiwanese food and probably the best and most comfortable place to have lunch in Issaquah. EVERYTHING on their menu is good. But my favorite is the pork chop rice, or the mince pork noodles. Bubble tea is always very flavorful and not watered down. I recently met the owner, a very nice and talented lady who told me about her philosophy. Right after a long hike at mailbox peak, friends and company went to find some good bbt in issaquah. It was suggested we go to cafe chi by a fellow compatriot. When we got there, it was an unassuming little shop exterior. However, upon entering the premises, suddenly the landscape transformed into an oasis of koi pond, clean outdoor seating, and perfect 78 degree sunshine. The interior was nice was well with cute decorations and very clean. The menu system is a bit funky with pictures on just the wall but I liked it since you could see what it is you're ordering. Prices were reasonable as well compared to its competitors in seattle. The food came super fast, and it was delicious! However, it was not super authentic, but I did like that it had a simple, homemade feel to it (as in I could literally make it myself in a few minutes with ingredients from an Asian grocery store; I had the pork over rice). The bbt was good, lychee was mildly flavored which I liked, and the smoothie had a real fruit taste to it. Overall I would go here again just for the setting and bbt, and maybe a few of the menu food items as well. Minus one star for the taste and authenticity of the foods. read more

I'm constantly looking for Taiwanese food since living in eastern Washington we have none. Read up on this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it on a trip out to Seattle. It wasn't hard to find and parking was easy. We got there on Saturday around 5pm and the place was empty. This is a place that you seat yourselves, order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The menu is just all the photos on the wall next to the cashier. I'm okay with that system. We ordered the beef noodle soup and minced pork noodle soup. Both came out within 10 minutes and hot! The broth of the beef noodle soup was yummy and slight spicy. Minced pork noodle soup was a bit bland at first then I realized all the yummy flavor was at the bottom of the bowl, so make sure you stir it up. There were side dishes that came with the soups, soy sauce egg, soy sauce tofu, pickled veggies and sliced beef, we ate all. My milk tea bubble tea was good, boba was soft and chewy and I could taste the tea which is what I like. Our total for 2 noodle soups and 2 bubble tea came to $23, reasonable. I'm so stoked that we found this place, will definitely return on our next trip. read more

I had high hopes for Cafe Chi. Unfortunately, I was let down. I came here for a going away lunch for a friend at work. It had potential. Cafe Chi does have a really cool ambiance. It's a nice setting, smells good inside and is very clean. The food menu is very limited. I don't have an issue with that if it's good. However, it is not that good at all. I ordered Lemongrass Pork. After receiving my dish and sticking my salivating mouth in it, I found out that they switched my order with my friends. I could also live with that, except the food was very plain. There wasn't much flavor to it all. I also tried a black tea with milk. This was the first time I had ever tasted this, and didn't care for it. No fault to Cafe Chi for that. I don't know if I ever will come back here or not. However, since the spa comes highly recommended from reputable sources, maybe I'll treat my wife to a day at the spa and hope she gives me some money for some new Blu-rays. read more

It's set up like a take out/fast food place where you order, pay and the food is brought out to you. Wish our smoothie drinks came out first but it came last made it more a dessert than a drink. My husband booked us mani/pedis for 20th anniversary (I know, nice, right?). We hadn't been to Spa Chi before and were a little dubious that it would be just another nail place. That couldn't be further from the truth. I have never been so comfortable in my life! No stupid massage chair thing that hits you on the back of the head with it's "thousand fingers"; instead, lots of pillows and back support; you just sink into bliss. My husband had never had a pedi before and was amazed. They brought us coffee and hot milk bubble tea. it was the best! I don't care in the least that I had to pay for it. They brought it to me! in a real cup! and there was someplace to sit it when I wasn't drinking it. The polish portion of the show was completely secondary, but looks great. My husband booked and had no voicemail issues at all. Catherine, the owner, is very aware of yelp reviews and has changed things around so that someone is answering that phone! It is, however, an appointment only place. No sitting in the corner waiting for "you. next" I can hardly wait to come here when it isn't pouring rain and sit outside. They have wi-fi too! When I'm Issaquah, I have just found my new coffee place, and I'm trying to figure out how many pedicures/manicures/facials I can get a month without seeming ridiculous. :) read more

Unique business setting with a beautiful building and garden that is a delight to visit. I took a good friend to have a pedicure. We were able to get Sunday appointments for the both of us. Calling to make an appointment meant leaving a voice mail and having the call returned. Turned out to be OK. The setting could be easily improved yet it is quiet and free from harsh chemical smells of a typical nail salon. The sugar scrub smelled amazing. Right next door is a cute cafe. Both venues need a little TLC. I would be up for trying their facial services in the future. Good location, nice staff and unique place to go for some relaxation without a ton of planning. read more

A pleasant surprise. I purchased the Living Social deal for a manicure and pedicure here. What I expected was a strip mall type outfit with barebones atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised from the time I passed into the courtyard...was I really still in Issaquah? Spa Chi, well hidden close to downtown Issaquah, is really The Place if you're serious about looking and feeling good in the long term. This is perhaps one of the most under-rated establishments around. I go there for regular facial treatments and mani/pedi and have been doing so for the past 4 years. I'm one who usually shops around and the fact that I've stuck to this place for so long means it is as good as it gets. Catherine, the owner, has vast experience and knowledge about skin care and products and she adjusts the treatment according to your needs / skin types. Having shopped around, I find the prices reasonable and for the quality of service I get, definitely worth the money! People there are so helpful and friendly that I feel right at home. The most important thing is the result: I have seen my skin improve dramatically over time and to me, that says it all. Leave a message when you call for an appointment when no one answers. Someone will call you back within a short period of time. Cafe Chi is a bonus everytime I go there. The Cafe adjoins the Spa area, serves delicious authentic Taiwanese food, as well other a variety of snacks like sandwiches, cakes etc. The Cafe also serves authentic tea; I usually for the jasmine tea with bubbles. It gets crowded during lunch time so I usually try to avoid lunch crowd by going earlier. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Cafe Chi is quite the relaxing little eating and bubble tea place in Issaquah. This placed open late last year, and since discovering it a few months ago, I have probably been back on average at least once (twice?) a week, either for the food, or for the bubble tea. Food here is great. The cafe offers a nice selection of traditional Taiwanese dishes such as niu ro mein (beef noodle soup) and ro zhao fan (minced pork w/rice). I am a bit of a niu ro mein snob, so let's just say their niu ro mein definitly ranks as one of the better meins in Seattle. It has a very light and traditional taste to the broth - not too beefy and not over powering with star anise. The beef is served on the side with pickled cabage and braised tofu, and always tender. Noodles are the thin style, and never under/overcooked. Between this and the equally delicious minced pork w/rice, I have a hard time choosing what to eat every time I come here. The bubble/milk tea they server here (yes! bubble tea in Issaquah!) is prepared just right. This is one of the few places that does not use the cheap powder stuff and uses actual milk/half-half, and the teas used are also of the quality traditional loose leaf brewed type. The staff also is very generous with the pearls if you really enjoy the chewy stuff. Finally, the environment here is build for relaxing. Before you even enter the cafe, you walk by a tranquil koi pond with a babbling waterfall. Flower and lavendar plants dot the pathway leading in to the cafe. Next to the pond, their is also a large outdoor patio with tables which is the perfect place to enjoy a meal or sip some bubble tea on a warm sunny day. In these days of loud, noisy restaurants, it is refreshing to be able to enjoy delicious food in a peaceful setting. I do have two critiques of Cafe Chi. The first is that the cafe's kitchen is not quite designed to handle large volumes of customers so on busy days, the wait time for your order may be a bit longer than usual. That said, all you need to do in that case is grab a bubble tea and kick back by the pond while you wait. The second, the prices for the dishes are slightly on the higher side. If some of the dish prices were reduced by fifty cents to a dollar, it would be a bit more on the comparable scale of other Taiwanese dishes served in other restaurants. Still, you are still getting your money's worth here. Come here to enjoy the good food, and leave full and refreshed. read more

This cafe is really close to my old high school and my friends used to run down during lunch to get bubble tea which they all claimed was "the shit". I however, was a fan of Oasis bubble tea in Seattle and pretty much considered all other bubble tea shops to be heresy so I never got any. BUT, when I finally did cave and tried the bubble tea at this cafe years later, it was incredibly delicious. The boba is soft and chewy (like it should be) and is made fresh each day. The black milk tea is my personal favorite, especially if you ask them to add in a shot of espresso (trust me. It's fantastic). I'm lactose intolerant and I still get the milk tea every time I go, it's totally worth it. This cafe has a pretty large following and many 'regulars' (I even met a woman who goes there every single day) which pretty much speaks for itself. Despite almost everything being awesome, there are a few things to note: 1. The fruit teas taste a little funky. But that's probably just because I'm not a fan of fruit tea in general so I'm not sure if I'm a credible source for this. 2. The service is a little slow when it get's busy (but that can be expected at every cafe/restaurant so I'm not sure why people whine about that.) 3. Many of the employees speak english as a second language so there is a possibility of a slight language barrier. This is solved however by the picture menu on the wall so nothing should prevent you from ordering exactly what you want. I go to college in Seattle now but I always make sure to stop by Cafe Chi every time I visit home. The food is good, the employees are very pleasant, and the bubble tea is phenomenal. If I could, I'd give them more than 5 stars. It's just that good. read more

FINALLY!!! A place I can get GOOD milk tea on the Eastside...in ISSAQUAH, no less! Anyone who knows me knows that I am a fiend for good food and an even bigger fiend for MILK TEA! I am an addict. To the point where sometimes I'll drive out to Chinatown just to get bubble tea, wth?! Anyway, even better is the fact that they have authentic Taiwanese-style food (and some Japanese food too...for anyone who doesn't know, Japan occupied Taiwan for quite some time before/during WWII). I had the Beef Noodle Soup, which comes with noodles cooked to perfection in a beefy, flavorful, yet not-too-salty broth and fresh, fresh baby bok choy. The bowl is accompanied by a trio of pickled vegetables (which I didn't try, because I've never liked them, but for those who do, I am sure they are delicious), TENDER slices of braised beef, and delicious morsels of dried tofu (do fu gan - don't let the "dried" in the name fool you, they are actually moist, soft, and yummy). My lunch companion had the chicken udon, which looked extremely fresh, from the peppered chicken breast down to the clear broth. No complaints there. And the milk tea - well, for someone who considers herself a milk tea connoisseur, let me tell ya, this will satisfy my craving for the beverage any day, all day. They make each serving of tea one at a time, and make each beverage by hand. The tea was fragrant and fresh. The beverage was not overly sweet. I never really go for the fruit smoothies, and I didn't have the tapioca, but I'm sure I'll try them at some point. One thing of note, the gracious and attentive staff told me that all of the fruit smoothies are made with ORGANIC syrups (and I believe real fresh fruit, but don't quote me on that one). How could it possibly get any better!? Only one thing that I have a semi-gripe about is the price...the meals are around the $7-8 range and somewhat small. However, this can most definitely be attributed to the Issaquah/Eastside location and for this kind of proximity for such good food, it's worth it. The decor is very nice and relaxing inside. Didn't check out the spa, but nabbed a spa services menu on the way out and upon a precursory glance the prices are comparable to most spas out there. Don't get me started on spas though, because that's a whole different story. I also pride myself as a spa snob (hmm...I'm starting to sense a pattern that I'm not sure is good, LOL). I will try it sometime when I have disposable income and report on Spa Chi in the future. The location is kind of hard to find if you haven't been in Issaquah long or aren't from the area, but it is so worth it...and the outdoor decor/setting is DIVINE for the upcoming summer days. A waterfall/pond with Koi fish (think babbling brook, but not a brook), and elegant stone pavements, with some outdoor seating although I would hazard a guess that there will be more seating once the weather gets nicer. Spa: Nail spa is very good - attention to detail is the norm, and everyone's very cordial. I get regular manicures and pedicures and my nail color and shape always come up perfect. You can request an appointment via their website, call or walk-in, but I would recommend making an appointment. Restaurant: This is a great little location for lunch and snacks. Good selection of teas, hot or cold. My favorite is iced boba tea. Food is tasty, and authentic. They have two seating areas, and when it's sunny you can sit outside and admire the pond. Great food! Great tea! Great people! I would recommend the mango smoothie or the original milk tea to drink! As for food, definitely try the popcorn chicken! read more
