Lisa and the staff are sweet, welcoming. I was greeted and escorted to their little waiting room and offered a glass of wine while waiting for my Rest and Relaxation appointment. The cherry on top would have been if they offered to change into their robes while you waited but still a nice welcome party. Lisa invited me back to the room and re-confirmed my package - the Rest and Relaxation package came with a sugar foot scrub, aromatherapy, and a Swedish massage. The room came with a private change room, complete with a shower, a closet with a robe, slippers, towels and some toiletries. If you're staying in the hotel, you're welcome to use/take back to your hotel room. My masseuse, Lisa, was so professional and so gentle. She really made me feel rested and relaxed between the eye mask, foot scrub/rub, heated blankets and her massage. 60 minutes is never enough so ALWAYS opt for more time! After freshening up, she offered me some citrus water and escorted me to their zero-gravity room while I sat in their massage chair waiting for the indention from the pillow cushion to leave my face. They have their everyday services and they have seasonal services/packages so check back every few months to see what's new. I was excited to try another JW Marriott Spa after getting a massage at the JW in Dallas. I'm going to give several recommendations for those who are interested in attending based on my experience then get into my experience. 1 -Look at the spa services carefully and look for their specials and some of the treatments have combinations for extended time. I originally had issues trying to book my treatment online so I called and they were able to book the Perfectly Polished + Massage (80 minutes) for me. I wanted to add a mini-facial to it and the individual on the phone consulted me that I could actually add a small fraction of what I was already paying to the total cost and get a longer facial from the esthetician separately. So, while it was an upcharge, I was into the concept of giving myself the best experience so I booked that too. 2- Remember that you get free valet parking - I had this in the back of my mind but I forgot when I arrived so I purchased street parking one block over; the complimentary valet saves you time getting to the spa and of course money, so don't forget this. 3 - The spa is on the 11th floor - the elevators don't have a callout-there is a digital ad that pops up on the screen, but otherwise remember that. 4 - They give a discount for locals. There's a 20% check-in offer on my Yelp app, but they also give a discount for locals as well so remember to tell them if you are local. Just a note if you are staying in the hotel, it looks like they have specials as well based on the signage I saw today. 5 - Expect an efficient process - when you arrive you'll sit in a lounge until your tech is ready, then you will be in one room that will have a locker/shower and of course the massage items. After, they will offer for you to sit in one or two lounges, I chose the anti-gravity. More on that later. 6 - Share your Marriott status (if you have one) - When you check in, let them know your status and they may be able to offer you additional upgrades for your service - for instance, I was offered aromatherapy during my treatment. As for my service and experience: SERVICE I really enjoyed my treatment provided by Lisa. She started by reviewing items of concern from my pre-health check form and was great at asking about my comfort level throughout the process. I was able to immerse myself into the treatment and really enjoy the sensations. AMENITIES I stated before upon arrival you sit in a separate lounge and they offer you beverages, I enjoyed the citrus water but they did have coffee/tea available as well. After I finished my treatment I went into the anti-gravity room. I accepted the weighted blanket and the weighted and heated neck wrap which put me into a further calm state before heading back into the real world. The chair experience was relaxing and not too shaky. I wanted a little more sensation for my hands so I actually placed them on the chair. There are two chairs in the lounge but because it was pretty quiet today, I had it to myself and that was nice. STAFF The staff were wonderful - from Daurion, Lisa and the other individuals who helped me with booking, even with a few hiccups, it was still a pleasant experience. In fact, I have to return because my scheduled esthetician had a family emergency and we had to reschedule, but they were apologetic and offered a nice concession for when I return to have the service rendered. The only reason I didn't give this five stars was because of the issue with the booking and that there wasn't anyone else available to give the service that day but it's certain if everything had gone to plan, I would have given it 5 stars. read more

Absolutely the worst massages my husband and I received. My husband travels the world for work and we've received some couples massages in different countries, major cities in the US and this has got to be the worst! When I called, I request two experienced and the best they have. The two girls we had, were very young and terrible. No way they were experienced. I enjoyed my visit to the Spa by Jw. I will say it is not like the typical spas I have visited, probably more quant. However, I did enjoy the low lit, intimate relaxation room. I could have fallen asleep in there. I enjoyed champagne before my 90 minute, deep tissue massage. The room was equipped with a personal locker and hygiene items, which I prefer rather than a common room to change your clothes. My massage therapist was Michelle and she was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend her. I give the facilities 4 stars and if I could, I'd give Michelle 5. If and when I do visit, she will be the reason. read more

This spa is far from the expectations you have of something at a JW hotel. No locker room, amenities, rest room, etc. There are showers in the massage rooms but you're not allowed to shower before the massage (I had just come from working out) and they recommended not showering after (I assume to get you out of the room). My massage was scheduled for 10 am. I get there at 9:40 am and no one could be found. Someone finally walked out at 9:59 to check me in and said they said the therapist would be out shortly to get me. I asked if I could shower before service and asked where the locker room was and only got a yes (although that was not the case). There is also a required 20% service charge added that you get no choice in. If you want a bare minimum service, that's what you get here. If you're looking for an actual high end spa day that is typically at "5 star hotels" (as this is advertised to be), you'll be sorely disappointed. Quite a disappointment. The spa picture showed a beautiful jacuzzi but there were no amenities offered! I was needed into the treatment room and then herded out when my treatment was complete. The provider who did my massage was in a hurry, not gentle and put a very hot towel on my back. She didn't have any people skills. Her massage was good but she was rushing... At the end if the treatment, she gave me a laundry bag for my personal belongings and herded into the room to soak my feet. Again, the water was too hot! I purchased a two hour massage and the receptionist (Gabriela) asked me a week before my appointment what type I was looking for. I specified that I would like a deep tissue/lymphatic for health purposes. Upon arriving to the massage appointment once I sat down on the table the therapist said she wasn't certified to do a lymphatic treatment. THIS WAS THE WHOLE REASON I WAS GETTING A MASSAGE. I am on antibiotics because I have an infection and wanted to detox my pathways. When I called the manager (Ruth) after the appointment she told me it wasn't noted in the system that I had asked for that treatment so they wouldn't be willing to compensate me for my appointment. The customer clearly isn't correct at JW. She said they would give me 25% off my next appointment visit. Way to always make the customer feel appreciated Ruth. Groupon had a good deal on a spa day so I decided to give them a try. I did a relaxing aromatherapy soak in the jetted tub. They give you bath salts and oil and cool towels for the soak. Booked a "Deluxe couple's spa package" after perusing several Houston area spas and deciding this looked like the best value (foot soak, glass of champagne, access to lounge areas) at what I knew was a nice hotel. I learned when I called in that there was a Groupon for the same pricing but I told them I'd be paying in full myself. I had a hard time receiving a confirmation email from them and called 7 times before someone advised me to check my spam folder and took the time to stay on the phone with me to confirm receipt. My husband and I arrived at the spa area about 10 minutes prior to our 1pm appointment which was later than advised due to unforeseen road closures/construction in the downtown area. Our experience was disjointed the moment we arrived. We were provided with a drink of choice (we chose champagne, which was complimentary) and filled out some forms asking about problem areas and health concerns. Once the forms were complete we were led to our foot soak area, but then taken to the lounge room instead because we weren't supposed to get the foot soak until after the massage. There was no orientation about amenities we had access to; for example, I saw tea bags and tea cups but no way to get hot water. After about 5 minutes in the lounge room we were brought to the massage room and re-questioned about all of the information we provided on the forms. They also asked what type of massage we wanted even though that was clear (I thought) from our appointment. The massage experience felt...unprofessional. It started with an unceremonious squirting of oil on my back and felt like I was a kid getting vigorously scrubbed by my mother's knuckles. I was put in several uncomfortable positions and the majority of the time I felt like my bones were being rubbed rather than my muscles. The best part was the scalp massage. Following the 50 minute massage our masseuses left the room and we correctly assumed we were to put on our robes go go to the foot soak; after enjoying this for about 15 minutes we were informed our belongings had been moved to another small room that could not accommodate the two of us. I'm so disappointed and feel more stressed and tensed since before I went. Its not the price. This Spa recently opened and needs to redo some areas. First of all they don't have a lounge area. You will not be able to change into a robe. Because a room with lockers doesn't exist. Because they don't have a sauna, steam room, etc. It was very disappointing to sit out in the waiting area next to the receptionist while a ton of people walked thru heading to the gym or meetings. There is no way to relax or have quiet time. Then you are taken into a room and expected to hang all your clothes and get into the massage bed. The massage was the worse I've had in years. I told her exactly what areas to concentrate on - but nope must've taken too much effort on her part so she kept just putting oil all over and never truly massaging. I won't ever return. DO NOT get your nails done at the JW Marriott Spa in downtown Houston! I was the only customer alone with one technician and it took 1.5 hours to get a simple gel manicure. But that wasn't the problem. Very nice lady but a child could have done a better job. I paid $90 and walked away with smudged paint all over my fingers and around the edges of my nails, as if she had her eyes closed. Messiest manicure I have ever seen in my life!
