I booked a last-minute Provence Classic Facial with esthetician Lauren after hearing great things about her. From the moment we met, she was incredibly kind and welcoming. She added on a Nano Eye Lift Treatment and even gave me a relaxing shoulder and arm massage--pure bliss! My skin was absolutely glowing afterward, and I felt amazing. The locker room and relaxation rooms are very small and tight. No steam room, spa, food, or food/drink service at the pool after our treatments. I had a great experience at Spa at the Park. My husband had booked me an hour massage, and I was hyped. We live in Oakland, so the Lafayette location was a novelty. The hotel the spa is inside is very old school, kind of stuffy old lady-ish, but charming. You have to walk around the pool to get to the spa, so it was fun to give myself a little tour of the property. I recommend arriving early so you can luxuriate a little with some hot tea in the relaxation room before your service starts. The robes they provide are so insanely comfy, I would've loved to spend a little more time in one! When my service began, I was THRILLED with the heated massage table (ahhhh) and the fact that I was able to choose among some scents for aromatherapy. My therapist was very friendly, and easy to talk to; but of course words fell by the wayside once we got into the groove of the massage. She did WORK. I was sore for days afterward, in a good way -- my shoulders were a crunchy mess. I believe my therapists name was Rachel, and she did a fab job. read more

Best massage I've ever had. My husband and I have gone three times so far and we will continue coming back for the couples massage. They give you a glass of champagne after with a small bag of chocolates. This time Marty made us a hot chocolate after our massage and we enjoyed it in the spa. As we walked through the pool area to the reception desk to check-in, we could tell the majority of the spa users were not people of color, but we are in the bay area so that didn't phase us. The desk attendant (African American) was professional and our masseuses were great and attentive. Loved the serenity of the sitting room. Our great experience was soured by a "regular" spa user - a Karen to be exact. While I waited to use the restroom I tried to clear the tight space in the locker area. I commented I was waiting for my sister who was changing. She found it her duty to school me, "we only have one and it'd be nice to use the toilet for what it's for." The way she spoke, I thought she was an employee. Then I realized she was trying to tell me "we" as in spa regulars like her, not me/us. I was not the right skin tone for her taste perhaps and she schooled me on the protocol for the water closet. Perhaps some change openly in the locker area, but some of us are modest and need a private changing area. Sad that in 2023 we've gone backwards, even here in the bay area. Massage was ok, they also made me pay $50 to sit by the pool before my massage, no amenities in the spa. I left my AirPods in the spa and located them with find my device. Called the spa 3 times, left 2 voicemails and emailed. No one answered the phone or returned my call on a Tuesday. Once they called back on Wednesday, they left a voicemail and said I probably left them somewhere else. I let them know I have the find my device app and it was at your spa/hotel at 11:30pm at night. Still haven't heard back from them on the location of them on Thursday. So a staff member or person stole my AirPods. Definitely won't recommend this spa and am very disappointed in how I was treated after I left and lost an item. read more

I've recently become somewhat of a Spa snob, which is funny as I am not a snob about most other things (jewelry, clothes, wine, etc). So, when deciding what to do with my last few days of Funemployment, I decided a trip to the Spa was in order. I typically gravitate toward Spa's with ample amenities, since if I'm going to go I want to spend a few hours, not just the duration of my treatment. Thus I chose to give the Spa at the Park a try. The locker room is super small, so if there is more than one person inside it already feels crowded. I've read reviews where people have actually had to share lockers, which seems beside the point when offering a locker. When I came in there were two other people inside and used robes in a pile on the floor. I undressed as quickly as possible and headed to the relaxation room. The relaxation room was nice and even had a spot to sit in the sun outside. Despite getting into the relaxation room 15 minutes before my appointment, my masseuse was ready for me right away, which was nice because I wanted more time on the tail end of my appointment to use the amenities, but also awkward as in caused someone to knock on the door mid-massage as they were confused to why it had started at the wrong time. The massage, by Danielle (yes, same name) was okay. I usually opt for a 50 minute massage, but decided on an 80 minute today for a splurge, but definitely don't think it was worth it. At times it seemed like she was trying to kill time, as she repeatedly flip flopped between my legs and neck. Some of the massage felt like when I ask my husband to rub my feet, which he does (for 25 seconds) then just leaves his hands on my legs as if I won't notice he's stopped. After my massage I sat by the pool for a while, but didn't really feel the need to use the hot tub and sauna as it was pretty hot that day, but did jump in the pool which felt amazing. I did get a complimentary glass of champagne which I didn't know was available until I noticed someone else with it. The spa pool is also the hotel pool, so it was pretty loud and crowded, but after my glass of champagne I didn't really mind. At the pool there were a couple of kids and also a big group that came into town for a wedding. Over all it was a serviceable experience. I don't think it's at the level of a place that I'd highly recommend to any executive I support and given my Spa snobbery, I'd personally probably skip it next time and go somewhere tried and true, but I think it's a good day spa for an East Bay local looking for a decent spot. read more

I came here with my sis and mom for my sister's birthday. We booked the facial & massage combo. The weekday discounts are a good thing to take advantage of if you can. The lady who greeted us was very welcoming and friendly. The relaxation room while you wait for your appointment is calm and inviting. I was surprised to see so many women in there glued to their cell phones. It kind of killed the ambiance a little but seriously - you are going to a spa to unwind and unconnect from the outside world. Why are you addicted to your cell phone and checking email? Doesn't seem very "relaxing" Lauren did a great job on my facial which was my first one ever but she definitely eased me into it. Lisa was perfect for me with the massage. It was just the perfect amount of pressure and just perfect. We all decided that next time we will book our appointments with a gap in between so we can enjoy the pool, spa, sauna and even maybe a lunch in between. Just reviewing the spa. I came for a spa day and was impressed. I arrived early to enjoy some time at the pool. I was given a nice comfy robe and enjoyed the pool area, where I was served a delicious lunch. I then moved inside, where I hung out in a sunny deck reading a book. The place just had a peaceful ambiance overall. I started my treatments with body exfoliation followed by an incredible massage. The masseuss' name escapes my mind at this time, but she was AMAZING. She did pressure point when she realized an area of my body was sore. I also got a facial which was very nice and well done. Natasha was more serious but seemed knowledgeable. The Spa at the Park has really gone downhill. I was a monthly facial customer for years about 10-15 years ago. Life happened and I stopped going. I returned today for a massage and couldn't get over how common it felt. The waiting room only had hot tea and chilled water whereas it used to have fresh fruit to snack on. The waiting room decor was more common and the carpet looked dirty. The outdoor pool and hot tub are no longer included with spa services. Instead you need to purchase a $30 pool pass to use them. There was a lock on the dry sauna whereas it used to be open. The outdoor water wasn't set up. My massage was weird as the masseuse popped my back and kept rearranging the sheets while she was working on me. They were out of their typical massage oil, so I got a free CBD upgrade which was nice. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower were all different brands whereas they used to be the same brand with the same scent. Finally, the front desk attendant wasn't as polite and friendly as the British lady who used to work the desk. My last massage was at Woodhouse and it was such a better experience in spite of the lack of a pool and hot tub. I'm not planning on returning. At least I have my memories of when this spa was wonderful! read more

Was gifted a massage and was really looking forward to a relaxing visit. Unfortunately left disappointed. Pros: hotel and spa area both beautiful; spa located adjacent to pool area which was welcoming and cozy despite the crisp January weather thanks to the roaring fire beside the deck; staff were prompt and friendly, robe, rubber slippers and locker provided for each guest, complimentary fruit infused water and tea in the waiting room Cons: The spa area is TINY which results in a very cramped locker area and a relaxation room that is anything but relaxing. Designed as a waiting area where guests can relax prior to a treatment appointment, in actuality the relaxation room serves as a hallway connecting the front reception area to the treatment rooms. In the 15 minutes I waited, the doors were opened (and slammed) no less than 34 times, with various employees traipsing through with supplies, stopping in to get water, stopping to chat with other guests waiting, etc. Far from relaxing, it was loud and distracting. It felt like I was waiting in a crowded train station. Massage itself was thorough, but lackluster and it felt as though the masseuse was giving half effort. Masseuse was chatty and "checked in" verbally every few minutes totally taking me out of any state of relaxation. Would not recommend and feel bad that the gift was such a bad experience. read more

I just spent the whole day at the Spa on Thursday. I did the Green Tea Body Wrap, which included a full body massage after a Full Body Salt Scrub. Eva was my massage therapist, and she did a stellar job! She made me feel very comfortable--so much so that I constantly fell asleep and would wake myself up from snoring! lol She did a scalp and ear lobe massage that was out of this world! HIGHLY recommend her! The front desk was super helpful and extremely accommodating. If I asked a question the receptionist didn't know the answer to, she immediately asked someone who would know to give me the correct info. I read magazines in the Sauna, soaked in the jacuzzi, did laps in the refreshing pool, sipped fruit water and tea while lounging in the super comfy robe and having a completely blissful day to myself. I ordered the Quiche and Salad--it was to die for! I was not expecting it to taste so darn amazing. Good price for the Amazing Quality! This is for the SPA only, no experiene with rooms. MY birthday was rapidly approaching and our local weather called for FOG, ruling out the Claremont as far as a spa day followed by a poolside lunch. Napa is too far to drive, the traffic to the South Bay is equally grim so The Lafayette Park Hotel Spa became our destination. A quick ten minute drive through the tunnel into sunshine. The Spa is tiny, when I called the spa a mere 3 days before my outing,Heather, did EVERYTHING possible to make sure we would have 4 massages scheduled at 1:30. I had forgotten about their existience so I was expecting her to say, sorry we are booked and have that be the end of it. Not even close. It took her about 15 minutes to find enough therapists and she called me back after contacting one at home. We arrived around noon on Saturday, June 30th. The hotel had a wedding slated for that evening so a lot of the wedding party were doing pre-event spa treatments.This is a tiny boutique hotel with a tinier spa. They have 12 lockers so we took the two they had left and shared amongst the 4 of us, not a problem. Not a lot of lounge chairs but again we figured it out. We approached the poolside bar and ordered our first round of mojitos, there is no hand muddling of mint but here but these cocktails were absolutely fine to sip poolside. The server, a young woman, then made sure that our lunch(a couple sandwiches split and a veggie platter) found us as soon it was ready and kept our water filled and our cocktails flowing. One-thirty arrived and we headed into the relaxation room. ALL FOUR of us RAVED about our massages, we each had the customized treatment to adjust for our various ancient body part shortcomings. We have been "spa-ing" for at least 25 years so when we say the massages were THAT GOOD, they were! With "spa" hair we chilled in the relaxation room post massage and had a therapist show up with a complimentary round of champagne. We defintely chilled out. We made our way back to the pool and bobbed around a bit, caught some rays and had a marvelous time. Again, this is a tiny space so on our way out, in flip flops and sun dresses, we passed the stunning bride in the foyer and her wedding party. I do believe the sun is probably out more often than not in this part of the woods which makes this a great local place to chill poolside. The service was outstanding which almost always will trump the Claremont. We each only had one spa service which gave us full day access to their pool, fitness facitlity etc. Generally speaking, the Claremont requires you to have MULTIPLE SERVICES on a WEEKEND to allow you pool access so this is a better bang for your buck! read more

Yes, I live in San Francisco and I come all the way out to Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa for these services because they are that great! I have tried numerous places in Marin County, San Francisco, and the East Bay because I am quite picky...either the masseuses were too chatty. Hello, I am trying to relax, not make a new friend! Or, I have come across esthetician who use products too strong for my skin type or I left with my skin feeling like what it did when I came in. This is not the case at Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. If you get their early enough you can use the pool & hot tub to relax before your treatment. Or do like myself and take advantage of the overhead showerhead and let all your stress rinse away down the drain. You are initially usually greeted by a woman (whose name escapes me, sorry) who has a lovely accent, and is ever so warm and friendly. She will show you how the spa works if it is your first time. You wait for your services in the "Relaxation Room" which is filled with magazines to read, comfy places to relax, tranquil music, a great tea selection, and an amazing basket of a variety of fruits to eat. They are constantly checking to make sure that as soon as the fruit runs low or anything like that they are there to replenish. Last time I had the most delicious grapes while I waited. Yummers! I have experienced quite a great deal of their services and one of the services that is a must try (outside of your normal massage & facial treatments) is the "Hair & Scalp Treatment". First, it is a special blend of different herbs & oils that are a great deep conditioner for your hair & scalp. Secondly, because if you have not felt the heaven of having solely your head rubbed & massaged you are definitely missing out. It was the first time I understood why when I rub my lil doggie on that special place behind her ear her leg involuntarily starts moving! Lastly, I want to speak about Aurea Fonseca-Geen, who is not only an esthetician, but the spa coordinator. She is absolutely an amazing esthetician and an delight to have an appointment with. She is beyond knowledgeable of her field and helps you better understand your skin, and honestly answers the question "Of the products you used today, what do I really need?" She doesn't push products on you and if you are unsure about anything she will give you a sample so you are able to test it yourself and come to an informed conclusion. If at all you are looking for a new esthetician or even just a one time thing to get you started on the path to healthy & clear skin setup an appointment with Aurea. We have returned to the accompanying Lafayette hotel for several weekend getaways. But the main event during my last visit was seeing Jana for a massage that was very soothing and healing on several levels, from the physical to the emotional and even the metaphysical. I felt as though each of those levels, and their attendant concerns, we addressed and soothed. Luxuriating after the massage, I felt compelled to return to the desk and raise my tip from 20% to 30% because of how good I was feeling. There's a changing area with no place to sit and one shower. My massage was on time but the facial started late. It gave me no time to relax or pee! I came for an appointment a while ago and am barely getting around to writing this review. I came to get a detoxification body wrap. I was going out somewhere that night and thought this was one of those wraps that helps you temporarily lose inches of water weight. My expectations were completely different than expected but I'm so happy it was. It was more like the best massage EVER! When I arrived, the receptionist greeted me with a very pleasant demeanor. I was taken back to the locker/bath room, told to strip down to whatever I'm comfortable with, given a plush robe and when done to wait in the relaxation room. Relaxation room, hmmm, what's that all about? The relaxation room was exactly that! Large chairs and a sofa. There its plenty of reading materials, water and tea. It's not in me to really let go and relax so the room really set the tone for my upcoming wrap/massage. I'm so upset with myself for not remembering my therapist's name because she was the best therapist EVER! I might have to do some research and update my review. Like any (most, I should say) message room, the lights were dim, it was very quiet and had light nature music in the background. My therapist explained everything she was going to do and asked me my preferences. The wrap itself consisted of a body scrub first, then massage, then being wrapped tight in warm "cocoon," if you will. You are then cleaned up and massaged even more. I definitely felt revitalized! By paying for spa services, you are also granted access to the gym, pool and hot tub. You really have to have all day to get the most out of those benefits though. When done I also had a facial lined up. Again, I'm kicking myself for forgetting names. She was friggin amazing too! We had really good conversation. I loved the product they use too which is Pevonia.I was convinced to buy some (I'm such a sucker!). When all was said and done I was chillaxin with my glowing skin. So this review is for the spa only. I have been in twice, the first for a mini spa day, and the second for just a massage. For the first experience, my facial was amazing, and my massage was blah. We had to move 10 minutes into my massage because of this loud rattling noise outside of my massage room. The actual massage that I received after was a C at best. My facial was fantastic, from the service, to the esthetician, to the actual results. I wanted a relaxing experience, so I decided to shell out the extra cash for a high end spa. I was hoping that a facial would be available, and that my previous massage was a rare experience. I managed to only book a massage. Once again I was disappointed with my service. My $105 massage was worth $60 at best, and I would still rate it about a C. Needless to say, I will definitely not be getting a massage here again. Even if their massages were only $60 per hour, I would not get one here again. The quality of the massages are just not up to par. I expect a lot more from this level of spa. Took my mom here for her christmas present and i booked the girlfriends package (mother/daughter). The package is not worth $295. The facial was pretty basic and my mom was disappointed that her specialist didnt help help remove blackheads. Maybe getting the massage would be more worth it. And it felt more like a 40 min facial than a 50 min one. Next was lunch. I think this was the part that made our experience mediocre. We were put in a little nook in the hallway of their hotel. We ate on a side table and I was so angry that we were given a horrible place to eat and this is my gift for my mom! We were eating while maids were cleaning the rooms. Lastly, our makeover was just as disappointing. The makeover was given right near the reception area. There were no privacy given as people walked in to check in and watched us getting our makeup done. Also, the so called makeup "artist" gave both of us the "natural day" look. I have to say it looked better on my mom but she says the artist put way too much foundation and drew the eyeliner way above her lashes. My experience was that she put too much orange and reddish eyeshadow that made my eyes look even more tired than they already are. To top it off, she put a brick red lipstick. My skin was chalked with foundation because she constantly applied various powder. Before we left to go shopping my mom and I tried to remove the foundation but there was too much. I didnt even have to say it. My mom immediately right after the facial she already said she does not want to come back. After many searches, I finally booked this place as our Valentine's day gift to ourselves with hubby. We signed up for the mini-spa day package, for Saturday morning. Later on I realized thru Yelp, that they offer an even better deal of $50 off a facial if you book a massage for the same day. (I was jealous, as I did not think 'glowed' as much)...Mine was good, liked the heated chair/bed. Also, it was a bit cold in the rooms, probably because it was so early in the morning, but maybe they should crank up the heat a bit for the 1st customers of the day? My massage therapist, Danielle was AMAZING! She actually made my sciatica pain go away! I could not believe it...Prior to starting, I told her about my issue, and she knew exactly what to do! Just for this, I'll def go back and see her again! No other massage therapist has been able to get it done like her! Overall, the place is very nice but still on the small side (as most Spas in the East bay) and I was thankful no one else was in the locker room/bathroom at the same time as me. Their shower is nice, but only one, so I can't imagine how it works when you have several people in there...You know how some women take SOOOO long to shower... Maybe they just do a great job at scheduling people, never letting too many of them be at the Spa at the same time? I would've loved to hang out in their hot tub and sauna, and enjoy the pool area..but it was a bit chilly that day and my husband only likes steam rooms which they don't have unfortunately. I guess I will just have to go back by myself it seems :) Oh, and the assistant manager was my husband's facialist and because she was a tad late (we didn't mind), she actually provided us with a glass of champagne at the end of our treatments! My husband gave me a gift card and scheduled a Half Day Spa Retreat for myself and a friend to go. We received lunch, an exfoliation, a massage and a facial. IT WAS HEAVEN! The lunch was delicious, my skin was left glowing and I felt like I was floating on a cloud. The spa is small but very lovely and quiet. The relaxation room is comfortable and even has a small area to sit outside which was very relaxing. We were even offered a glass of bubbly when we were all finished. This was not a good experience for me. Not only did I not receive the treatment that I had booked, but I was also overcharged. I had booked a hot stone massage the day before and the front desk person wrote down something else. About 1/2 hour into the massage I asked the therapist about the hot stones and she informed me that I had not booked a hot stone massage. I asked for the manager to find out what happened and in the meantime she put the stones in hot water. By the time she came back to the room 15 minutes later, she placed the stones on my leg and they were lukewarm at best. I ended the massage because at this point I was very upset. I spoke with the manager who wanted to charge me for a 50 minute massage when all I had was a swedish massage on my back only that lasted 30 minutes. She charged me for 1/2 of an 80 minute massage - in other words I was charged for 40 minutes instead of 30 minutes and I tipped the therapist on the inaccurate charge. I basically overpaid $20 and the tip for the therapist ended up being about 30% which in no way was deserved. The therapist did confirm my treatment in the beginning but she was so soft spoken that all I heard was 80 minutes. I get that mistakes happen, but it was the way that I was treated by the manager that was so upsetting. She basically didn't believe me when I insisted that I had booked a hot stone massage. She was very condescending towards me. As I was standing at the locker, I pulled my phone out of my purse and showed her the calendar that said "hot stone massage" and she retorted back with "well I don't know when you put that in." As I checked out (not realizing that I was being overcharged) I was offered a 50% off my next treatment coupon - no thanks. I had just moved to Lafayette and was aching from the move. I wanted to find a go to spa where I could have a hot stone massage on a weekly basis. Instead, my first experience here was one of being treated poorly as a customer. What happened to the customer is always right? When I got home I did receive a phone call from the same manager who confirmed with the front desk person who booked my treatment that I had indeed booked a hot stone massage. She admitted the mistake was on their end and offered to make things right with me, but at this point I have such bad taste in my mouth about this place. read more

I have gotten both massages and facials at the Spa at the Park multiple times. All my treatments have been great. Because of the actual treatments, I continue to return. However, the actual facilities are not the best I've seen. The locker room is tiny and cramped, and there is no sauna or steam room. You do have access to the pool (which is a beautiful outdoor area), and the food is excellent. The relaxation room is a nice waiting area, but again, is pretty small and cramped. I've been in there with at least 3 other people at the same time, and you are basically sharing cushions on the sofa. Overall, it is a pleasant experience with great treatments. But, if you are looking for a full "spa" experience, this might not be the place to go. read more

We decided to go for an overnight stay, couple's massage and dinner at the Duck Club to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! We checked in on Saturday and were welcomed and received a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room. The room was spacious, complete with sofa, bath/shower combo, desk, big queen size bed, desk, flat screen tv, complimentary internet, spa robes in the room. Then we went for our couple's massage and also had an enjoyable experience, service was excellent and I recommend staying overnight if you're going to get a massage as well. Great service, let me say that again great service! Crapply breakfast for what their charging. Nice pool and spa open late which is a huuge pet peeve of mine, why have a hot tub on your property if your closing it at 9? this one is open late! read more

BASED on SPA SERVICES: (wedding review coming soon!) Excellent staff and service!!! My fiance treated me to a spa day package for my birthday. The massage was wonderful, the body scrub was refreshing, and the facial was tremendous. Both ladies that worked on me were very attentive and courteous. The lady that did my facial incorporates a head, neck, and shoulder massage. She also gave great skincare advice and answered all of my questions. The only downside is the costs of their services are quite expensive and won't allow me to be a "regular". But if you can afford it or really want to splurge, Lafayette Park's Spa will leave you with no regret! I am having my wedding ceremony and reception here in September. I will post a review on that as well. So far, Lolita (wedding person) has been great! And the food tasting was great! read more

After a really grueling week I wanted a relaxing couple of hours at the spa. The facility is tiny. The women's dressing room consists of a few lockers, one shower, and two toilets. The relaxation room is very small and despite the trickle of the fountain, the deafening din of the freeway made it uncomfortable to sit outside on one of the two lounge chairs. My 50-minute massage was good, not great. The masseuse suggested that I sit in the hot tub for a few minutes but when I was escorted outside, ten kids were frolicking in the hot tub and the pool area was filled with vacationers. I love kids, but I really craved quiet, personal down time. The Park Spa does not live up to its advertisements about relaxation. It really needs a hot tub, steam room, and sauna inside the spa itself for it to offer a true spa experience. read more
