Idaho Donut Boat - Don't miss out on the donut fun!

I emailed back and forth with Corey, the owner, and he was very accommodating and answered all my questions. The setup of the boat is ideal for hanging out with friends or family because of the circular layout and table in the center, plus having the big umbrella over the boat is really nice. It's like a really mellow party boat. We brought a cooler with drinks and food and made it a little dinner cruise. It was also effortless - they launched it for us and met us on the dock right as we brought it back so we didn't even have to tie it up, we just hopped off the boat and left.  Our kids absolutely loved it and one of them declared it in his top 3 experiences ever. They also liked that they could drive the boat themselves and make it do donuts. Our 10 year old wanted to leave his own review and wrote this: "This is a super fun and amazing activity for anyone to spend part of their day doing. Super comfortable and relaxing, doesn't get boring, and you're likely to get a lot of people complimenting the boat. You can also sit on the stairs and stick your feet in the water if you get hot. I would absolutely recommend this."

We love Discovery Park! And, if we had young kids, we would definitely take them here!…read more We do have dogs though, and they are currently expanding their dog parks. Yes, there are two - one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs. Not only that, but we also walk them around the full park until they've had enough exercise. Discovery is a HUGE park with baseball fields, dog parks, a skate and biking park, plus a well-built and fun play area for kids. I'm pretty sure we walked by a huge sand pit for kids to plain too! It's loaded with things to do, and we highly recommend it!! It's clean, beautiful, and offers a huge variety of things to do!!

Discovery park mixes all the fabulous things of a traditional park with educational pieces about Idaho. The play structure is great. It has usual bits like slides and nets to climb, but it also has funky bridges, musical components and a variety of ladders. There are two very long zip lines with the attached seat, making it perfect for all ages. (Yes even my 32 year old husband thought it was amazing) There are these super fun roller slides that are fun for older kids to try and climb, but also littles who don't like to go too fast on a slide. I love that this is the rubberized surface. When you have an early walker, this is the best type of park to go to. Behind the play structure is the best part of this park. They have a water feature to help kids learn about Idaho rivers! Kids can play in the sand, dig ditches and levies and divert water streams. There is also a traditional splash pad around the side. There are three covered picnic areas, large bathrooms and plenty of parking. This is a wonderful new park addition to our community!

I just love how everyone is doing their own thing, whether that's walking, strolling, biking, fishing, kayaking or even surfing! Yes that's right, there's a section where you can actually surf the stream.. how cool is that?! There a signs at the entrances that remind people not to be a "speed demon" and also signs warning about blind curves, which I very much appreciated. We rented those Lime electric scooters and were able to scoot nearly the entire path, which felt so epic and fun. Of course, we were mindful of pedestrians, bikes and foot traffic. One of my favorites parts of the path was when went past the Boise Zoo and saw not just one, but too giraffes poking their heads up at the trees. They were ginormous and even seems to acknowledge us with curious eyes and ears. What a special treat to have such an open, accessible and convenient public space right in the heart of a city!

It quite literally runs along the river and is absolutely stunning all the way through. From parks like Ann Morrison to Boise State's campus to where you drop in the river for floating at Barber Park. There is plenty to do along the Greenbelt. It is always fun to plan days going from hot spot to hot spot on a bike or on foot. It's also great to spend some time kicking it by the river at one of the Greenbelt's many hang out areas, especially during the summer.

We were on a LIME scooter ride on the greenbelt, and this little set up caught our eye. We paused and discussed going over to check it out. A guy at the bar yelled to us "It's better over here! We have beer!" Come to find out this was co-owner Mike who is such a great person. We were roped in! We sat at the cool bar on the tree stump stools (this place is SO COOL!) and were immediately sold. Tom was talking about these drinks called Boozies. (my new favorite thing) I of course had to try one. They come in grapefruit or cranberry. GO FOR THE GRAPEFRUIT! And this is what I drank ALL. DAY. $7/can. Didn't even care. They brought out 2 cornhole boards and we ruled the court! Probably played 20 games and met so many cool and new people in the process. A band started up around 7, and it was a great vibe. other notes - - only 2 portapotties, but were relatively clean. - Boozies, and 3 beers from Western Collective. The IPA was good! - food trucks & live music! - amazing view of the river - big umbrellas for shade / if that's your thing. Mike and Tom deserve major high fives for this rad place. What might look like a gravel lot with some old spools & tree stumps - officially kicked off my 2019 summer. Planning on coming back every time I'm in town! Thank you for the memories!
