Recently visited Boise, Idaho and the green belt was on the top of everyone's recommendations. So I definitely had to check it out and it did not disappoint! Be prepared to walk long distances but it is worth it! I saw many beautiful views and critters along the way. I also caught people fishing on the rivers. It was a beautiful day to visit the green belt and get some cardio in. Definitely a must when in Boise!

Beautiful river, floated it on a weekend with the girls and we had a blast. The river wasn't too high or too low. Only issue is they need a few more bathrooms and doggy bags along the path. Other than that everyone was pleasant and the weather was perfect. Didn't see any trash and hopefully it Stays That Way!!

Beautiful green belt! Highly recommend for a walk or ride. Lots of access points, well maintained in all seasons.

The Boise River is easily accessible from various points of the Boise Greenbelt and beyond. During the summer months you are able to enjoy a 3 hour float, either renting or using your own flotation device. Beach spots cover the shores of the Boise River making it easy to bring your dog to swim, children and families to enjoy the water, and or hosting an event right on the beach of the river! It's the perfect place to cool down in the water, run, walk or bike alongside the river, and enjoy the local community spots. Definitely a must visit!

The Boise River Greenbelt is 25 miles and runs along the Boise River through downtown Boise. It's technically a park but it's also a pathway that goes through the heart of the city and provides biking, walking, and running trails. These trails allow folks to see scenic views, wildlife habit, and park access. Some of the parks that the greenbelt goes through is Julia Davis park which contains a variety of activities inside including the Boise Art Museum, the Idaho State Museum, Boise Rose Garden, and Zoo Boise. There's really so much to do around here and it's all accessible via the greenbelt which is amazing. Other points of interest along this trail include the Boise Public Library and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial. As I looked at a map of the greenbelt I could just see all the riverside parks that the greenbelt provides access to which is amazing. The vibe of walking around the area on a summer day gives the feeling of a small town and really feels like a gem of a place. I wish things like this were in other cities!

Took a nice walk on the green belt. Beautiful views, appreciating nature and just feeling peace and tranquility and enjoy the fresh air. Boise is a beautiful town. I recommend you visit this place.

The Greenbelt has become a true symbol of Boise and its efforts to become a greener city. This 25-mile (and growing), tree-lined river trail traverses the city allowing the town to come alive during all seasons. Whether it's during spring with blooming flowers and a flowing river, summer where the public cools down in its water, fall with colored foliage, and winter where animals leave tracks in the snow. Maps are a guide to its paths that connect one larger park to another referred to as "the Ribbon of Jewels." Cyclists, joggers and walkers enjoy fresh air and a break from their quotidian lives. Plastic bag collection poles, dog bag disposals, recycling and trash cans, bike tire air and repair stations, and picnic tables with BBQs can be found along the trail. No wonder this treasure has celebrated 50 years with many years and enjoyment to come!

Boise River Greenbelt is Amazing! I've walked a lot of it. I've ridden my bike on a lot of it. It never gets old. Seeing the seasons change is one of the fun parts. It's a great walk for dogs on lease. The open air allows for social distancing, which means no mask during Covid, although some choose to wear a mask. Recently I came across a special area where someone put a container of chalk for writing. Many had taken this as an opportunity to put into words their feelings. It was obvious the Greenbelt has impressed many. See the pictures below to see a few of the comments. And it you want to come add your own... I would encourage you to do so.

Review #26 for 2020. Boise River Greenbelt provides an awesome way to get some exercise, breathe in the beauty of nature, and check out various parts of the city without needing to drive. There are joggers, bikers, dog walkers, and families with kids. Small and big parks can be found along the trail, and there are lots of small businesses along the way as well. In certain parts of the river you can see ducks, and in other parts there are spaces for water sports. One Saturday morning I happened upon a farmers market and then visited every Saturday until it got too cold. I love the various views from the trail, and the sounds of flowing water, birds, and other animals makes you forget that you're in a city.

Boise River and the Greenbelt has so much to offer for outdoor fun. We have enjoyed just walking along the green belt and riding bikes. We also just floated the Boise River for the first time and we all loved it. Floating the Boise River *Put your tubes and Raft in at Barber Park *You can rent tubes, Boats and Kayaks for a fee. The line was long for rentals. *Life vest required for 14 and younger *The Barber Park air stations are no longer operational. Feel free to "show up and blow up" as long as you BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT to inflate your vessel. *They have shuttle buses at the take out Ann Morison Park for $3 you can get a ride back to Barber park. *FYI Barber Park gets busier after 12pm so plan accordingly Super fun day floating. Also remember to wear your sunscreen.

This is one of the main reasons we moved to Boise Idaho recently. Most cities emphasize the city, Boise appears to emphasize the river, the parks, and the concept that a city should have greenspace. Sure, let's give New York City credit - they have Central Park, which is wonderful. But the Greenbelt wanders the city along the river, and the parks dedicated to embracing it enrich it. Such a concept! Yay, Boise.

What a gorgeous area! We were passing through the area and had a quick visit with family who suggested we go see the greenbelt! What a stunning area! We parked near the rose garden and found some electric scooters to rent. They were $1 to start and $.35 a mile. We packed the frenchies into their backpacks and zoomed along. There was a great bridge, pond, and amazing fall colors. Also can't forget that rose garden we parked near! Check out the beauty and if you want a cool place to stroll, ride a bike, scooter or have a picnic this is a must

Wave shapers on the Boise River at the Greenbelt attracts large numbers of kayakers and swimmers.

Proximity from downtown to this well-kept trail makes it fun for everyone and a great hike for visitors and locals. This trail starts a bit after the main parking lots and takes a dirt road- an SUV or truck type of car is probably best for this. I would say this is for the intermediate/expert hiker. It's around 7 miles and has some steep hills. So, hiking boots or athletic shoes are a must. It takes around 2.5-3 hours and there are tons of very picturesque places to stop along the creek (or crick, as many Idahoans say). During the summer months here in Boise, it stays light out until 9-10 pm. So I love starting this hike after work hours, without the worry of it getting too dark before getting back. You can see a lot of wildlife- birds, snakes, bugs, etc. There are usually a decent amount of people who walk their dog off-leash here. Hull's Gulch Interpretive Trail vs. the other foothill trails, there tend to be more bikers and fewer hikers. If you're into mountain biking, this would be a great trail for you!

Hull's Gulch Interpretive Trail is a roughly 7 mile (there and back) trail that meanders through…read morethe Boise foothills. It is uphill, though not steeply so (the elevation increase throughout the duration of the trail is roughly 1000 feet). We came midmorning on a Saturday and it took our party of 3 roughly 3 hours to complete (with some stopping for picture taking). The trail follows alongside a creek and so there are some picturesque spots. At the top of the trail there is a small waterfall (the amount of water depends on the time of year and snowmelt). There are informative and poetic signs (I'm not being sarcastic--truly--they have signs with poetry!) sprinkled throughout the trail and a few lovely (wide and sturdy) foot bridges along the path as well. The road to drive to the trail head isn't paved and though could be traversed by car, there were a couple of ruts that made me glad we drove our CRV and not our Accord, so something to think about if you have a low vehicle. Also, it is quite long, so I wouldn't recommend it for little ones and the path isn't wide enough in some areas for a jogger type stroller (and too rough for a conventional one). But, for older kids with stamina, it's great! Plus, given it's a there and back hike--you could always turn around at any point if it proves to much for some! The proximity to downtown is great and at the top where the waterfall is, there is also a gorgeous vantage, through a valley between the foothills, of the downtown skyline. Fresh air, gurgling creek, and nature poetry-- Get to it!

To Stack Rock and back from the trailhead, this hike is just shy of 9 miles. I went with a group of friends and it took us roughly 6 hours from start to finish. How to get there: You'll find the trailhead about 13 miles up Bogus Basin rd on the left hand side. There's a larger gravel parking area on the side of the road. If you're going in the summer months, there is likely to be a lot of cars there. If you're not sure you're at the right spot, take a look at the map posted at the trailhead to ensure that it says "Freddy's Stack Rock Trail". I went with someone who had been before, so we made it there and back with no trouble. However, if it's your first time going, I recommend you read up on this loop or go with someone who has done it before. The loop breaks off into lots of other trails and it appears that it could be easy to get lost if you go into it ill-prepared. Scenery: STUNNING. There are gorgeous Ponderosa pine, and Douglas Firs surrounding the trail, as well as plentiful amounts of wildflowers. There are also lots of spots that overlook the forest and give you the opportunity to take in its grandeur. The photos I've posted give you an idea, but don't do it justice. From start to finish, this hike is beautiful. Stack Rock: I mean the trees and wildflowers are gorgeous, but this is what you do the hike for! After hiking 4-5 miles, you'll arrive at the stack rock formation. It's a bit daunting to climb, so take your steps wisely and consider how you'll get down before you go up! The views from here are truly remarkable though and absolutely worth the climb. Other things: - It's about 20 degrees cooler up here than it is down in Boise (and it's a bit windy). Bring a jacket, you'll probably want it at some point. Even if it is in the middle of the summer. - Also, bring snacks, bug spray, and sunscreen! - I had (limited) cell service for a good amount of the hike. - Lastly, for the sake of safety...don't do this hike alone. You go pretty deep into the forest. Bring a buddy. Better yet, bring 3 or 4.
