My first time visiting this place was last week when I showed up as a "walk-in" for a gel manicure. The front desk lady greeted me warmly and was accommodating as I did not have an appointment. My nail tech (Genesis) was friendly and offered me the keychain of colors to choose from. I picked a particular color and she couldn't find it. So I picked a second color. Same thing. I am not sure if they didn't have the actual colors or if the nail polishes perhaps needed to be better organized. She offered me a similar color to my first choice and I proceeded to get my mani. She took her time and did a good job. It's now been 1 week and so far the polish has not chipped. Yesterday I made an Gel pedicure appointment for 12:30pm with a nail tech (her name was not provided to me) and she was not there upon my arrival. The owner greeted me and apologized and asked me to return in 30 minutes and she would have another technician attend to me. I was slightly annoyed because I had other appointments that now needed to be pushed back but I appreciated her effort to accommodate me. My technician was Samantha and she was great. She was friendly and professional and did a nice job on my pedicure. I would book an appointment with her again. As for the place, it's clean and has a cute set up. Staff is nice. Their prices are a bit expensive considering the neighborhood but they do offer 10% Monday through Wednesday. I was happy I got the discount considering my appointment was delayed. I've been going to Soyo Nails for a few years now, and I'm always happy with their services. I usually see Romery or Oksana, but as of late, I've been sticking with Romery due to convenience, and her schedule usually coincides with my schedule. Both ladies are wonderful and meticulous about their art. Romery is sweet and very attentive. The staff is always professional, friendly and accommodating. The environment is very relaxing and clean. I found Soyo Nails on the map since I am not familiar with the area. I appreciate them taking me as a walk-ins on a late Friday afternoon. I had my gel manicure remove and wanted a regular manicure to give my nails a rest due to the harsh shaving removal. I've been to many nail salons before but this one looks nice from the outside, but once you pass the waiting area and getting your service, you will notice this place is not sanitary. The nail tech who did my regular manicure did not cut, trim or file my nails at all. The only thing she did was to trim my cuticles. I have to "wash" (no soap provided) my hands twice. The first time just "wash" and the second time to use a small brush to brush the nail bed, which was just laying in a bowl without sanitizing between customers. I am not one to ever leave a bad review, however after spending $145 for this, I am very upset. I could not be more disappointed with my nails and how this was handled. When my nail tech was filing my nails after extending them, I noticed that they all were pointed upwards which looked very unnatural. I have been getting my nails extended for years and I have never had them turn out like this. Before she went on to paint them I mentioned that they looked like they pointed upwards and she just disregarded that and continued. I understand nails can be a time consuming process but I attempted various times to say that I didn't like how they were looking in attempt to save my tech time before she went any further. I felt really bad saying anything, but I knew how expensive this salon was and I decided to speak up for myself for once. When she put the first coat of paint on, I immediately noticed that made the imperfections stand out that much more. Before she went any further, I politely said again that my nails looked like they were turned upwards, and asked if she could shorten them in hopes this would make them appear less crazy. She seemed very annoyed by me saying this and told me she would file them at the end but that she couldn't do much. I patiently waited until the end and when she finished, they still looked terrible. The women at the front desk was rushing my nail tech to wrap up because she had another client waiting. This added to the chaos and stress. The women at the front desk had me pay ($145) for this... and then asked if I wanted to see another nail tech to have them reshaped. I was happy to be accommodated in some way, and the girl who squeezed me in was so sweet and helpful. She did her best to file them on the sides to make them more natural looking. I knew she couldn't do anything to fix the unatural upward turned nails because that was the original nail techs application and not hers. As someone who usually stays silent even when my nails aren't looking the way I want, this whole experience made me really uncomfortable. Now here's the kicker... I spent total of almost 3 hours at this salon, and I was charged not only $100 for a full set of short nail extensions (which is what I asked for and the price on the menu) I was also charged an additional $20 for "nail extension." So not only did I pay for these nails to look like this... I paid EXTRA for my nails to look like this. Another important thing to note... I had been to this salon one other time, in which I left with bloody nail beds, ripped up skin, and a nail that popped off within 20 minutes of me leaving the building. I paid well over $100 for that too. The only reason I went back after that was because the man who worked the front desk and the nice lady (Adea) who fixed my nail was so accommodating and nice when I went back to have my nail fixed. When I got home last night after my experience, I gave my nails a good look and I just wanted to cry. All girls know the feeling of getting home and seeing the nails you paid so much money for looking awful. I built up the courage to call the salon to ask if they could fix them or refund them and the same women at the front desk (Jenna) gave me a lot of attitude. She was also the tech who had done my nails the first time leaving them bloody and broken, and tried to tell me I hadn't been there before. She offered to squeeze me in NEXT WEEK. If I were management of a salon and I had a customer with this type of experience, I would try to accommodate them immediately or at least refund them. At the very least I would be kind and understanding on the phone rather than annoyed and suggesting that I'm lying. Jenna, the owner, suggested I switch from acrylic to Apres Gel-X extensions to help grow-out my nails. She was knowledgeable, kind, and gentle and helped me through my pain and anxiety. So, I continued to come back. I met other techs and also had a great experiences. Now Carolina is currently my go-to for my structured gel manicures. Horrible. I tried this location 2x jokes one me. One which they tried to charge me $95 for a acrylic which I have provided picture for which the appt lasted 3 hrs. I had to attend a wedding and was super late because of it. When I spoke to management I was given bs so I had to dispute transaction with my credit card company. Lord save your money !!! A deposit of $20 is required to make appointment. I check my bank account and see a $75 charge...long story short her filling with french color was $95! Let's be clear on something, this is NOT a luxury salon, they do NOT carry lux products, and their technicians are not very experienced. However, I'd rather support a local business and give everyone a chance. THIS IS NOT OUR FIRST TIME THERE. When I call to confirm this payment and ask for an explanation...their answer was it's 35 for fillin, 30 for cut and shape, and 30 for french polish! This is just absurd. Now, the problem here is not entirely the total...it was the answer, the tonality and the disrespect of " this is our price , I don't use cheap products and you're welcome to go anywhere else" If you're looking for quality, professional, and consistent service DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First and LAST time stepping foot into this establishment. I ran across their Instagram page &I was very impressed with the content on IG so I decided to give this spot a try. I made an appointment one week in advanced and paid my deposit. Today was my appointment & once I made it to the salon, I immediately got a bad vibe- no one greeted me, no one asked me what service I was getting - so I helped myself and sat down. Eventually someone came to check in with me - I relayed to him that I have a schedule appointment with a specific technician- he goes to check with his staff and when he comes back, he tells me that the tech doesn't feel well and that they tried to call me to reschedule- (fyi I did receive a call from a random number around 11:50am while I was driving to the salon to make it to my 12pm appointment. I had the GPS on and I don't like to drive distracted so I didn't answer). He apologized but said that we would have to reschedule. I explained to him that I scheduled this in advance and also confirmed the appointment 24 hours ago- I don't think it's fair that I have to reschedule. He was nice enough to call another nail tech to service me - I was told the new nail tech was on her way and would be there in 10 minutes. 40 minutes passed by and nothing. The stars are for the nail tech I had. She was friendly, but due to being constantly distracted by patrons and technicians she made minor mistakes on my nails. After a very heated exchange with the owner (she's unprofessional) I returned back for a refund or for them to fix it. Unfortunately, several of the nails were crooked and I had to redo the entire set. If you've ever seen the Anjelah Johnson skit of the nail salon that was more or less the situation. I was told my finger was crooked initially, but the set I walked in with from elsewhere was straight. Upon showing pictures of this, the tech tried for a more simple set the second time as she could not do the first set I asked for even though the design is listed on their Instagram. The person who did them is not listed, so I had no way of knowing who to book for to get that design. Interesting. In total, I was there about 5-6 hours and change. There is no communication at this nail salon and they do not do work up to my standards. If you like a lot of famous nail technicians' work, you won't be happy here. My first time in years getting nails I went to a celeb technician and wasn't disappointed... Then I came here. I couldn't get an appointment with my original technician who did the long hard gel set and this place was recommended so I came here instead. Big mistake on my end. I wasn't going to write a review of this place and just chalk it up to a learning experience UNTIL I took my nails off myself and realized how damaged my nail is. The tech (I am not going to say her name here because she was doing her best) buffed my nail bed and nails so badly that I can't use my nails at all. The damage is so bad I really have to wait to grow my nails out just to get a set put on. I can't even wash my hair properly because wetting my hands and trying to use my nails to wash my scalp would make the nail fold, extremely painful. Trust me. My nails are so thin I can't even get a new tech to put a fresh set on because there's no way we can do any more filing without risking infection or injury. I have little red dots where I was overfiled that burn when I put my hands in acetone. I was clipped and cut several times during the service at the salon (I now have an ugly scar on my nail, thanks SoYo!) and it's been weeks so this nasty dark mark on my pinky nail where I was cut probably is here to stay. This experience was so bad I bought my own equipment and products and will be doing my own nails from now on. I trust NO ONE with my hands at this point. Overall, a poor experience for the price. The tech was tired at the end of the service and so was I. She was nice, but I paid over 125$ or so or my hands to be ruined. I even tipped her prior to seeing she let me walk out with my nails looking a little wonky. The second design wasn't even the length I asked for but I was so defeated I just left. There was no way I was coming back for a third time. A quotable from the owner was when I called to complain about the first set that was crooked she told me she didn't believe me because the tech "does nails all day". If the work she does is a testimony to her doing nails all day maybe it's time for a vacation. Put it this way, remember when I said this place was recommended to me by a friend? Well, after all was said and done I was so mad we had a serious falling out and are no longer friends. Yes, over my nails being torn up that bad and being sent there. I didn't see the reviews until after I got home. I've included the nails I came with, the nails I first got and the nails I ended up with as well as my hands now so y'all can decide if it's worth it to come here. Some of the nails are crooked. I wanted a smoke effect. Didn't get it. - Tan swirls are the second set. Let's get into this review y'all. I was getting the Apres X service which is fairly new but I was excited to give it a try. First picture is what I wanted and the second picture is what they tried to give me. None other than the owner tried to play me like that. After I told her that was nowhere close to what I wanted she proceeded to say she's trying the best she can but she doesn't know how to do it without powder. She didn't tell me this when I originally showed her the picture. So there was red flag #1. As she started to shape my nails I was being specific as to how I wanted it and she kept saying how if I kept it simple it would be easier for her. I paying for a service so I want it done how I want it done. If you're unable to provide that service you should've said that when I first showed you the picture and explained how I wanted it done. That was red flag #2. Then as she continued to do my nails she was just sooo rough. I started to bleed on multiple fingers. In the last couple photos you can see scabs on my cuticles from where she just kept coming in too much. I've been getting my nails done for a while. I know a little bleeding never hurt nobody but she destroyed my cuticles. I couldn't put on hand sanitizer or wash my hands without it burning intensely. That's red flag #3. After I bled the 4th time from another finger I decided maybe it was just time to change nail techs. At this point the nails were already attached by Jenna using the gel x formula. Then I went to Samantha. Samantha is the ONLY reason this place received two stars. She was able to save my nail shape and color. She did exactly what I wanted and was really nice in the process. Lovely girl!! I thought it was over, I'd come back to the shop but just not go to Jenna. But then 4 days later you can see in the picture MY NAIL CAME OFF. So I went back to the shop and spoke to the manager, even though the owner was right there! I wanted a refund, I couldn't fix it because my cuticles were still tender so I couldn't soak it off. Jenna told me she was the only one who knew how to do gel x in the store beforehand so why would I trust someone else?? The manger then stated that the only way I would get a refund is to let her cut my nails so that I couldn't "rock them" anymore or to soak them off with my damaged cuticles. My situation warranted a better response from management. It warranted a little more understanding for all I've already been through. They didn't care about the fact that she destroyed my nails, was rude, and it wasn't even quality work. Moral of the story is don't go to Jenna or Apres x. I won't tell anyone to not go somewhere but beware!!! read more

Got a Russian manicure a few days ago and wasn't sure if I made a mistake coming here, my cuticles killed after and were red and swollen, very concerned that I am going to wind up with some kind of infection. The gel dryer is so incredibly hot and was filthy. Nail files were awkward and huge making it challenging to properly file nails. They ask you to use a nail brush that everyone under the sun has used to clean your nails before getting them painted which looked/felt super unsanitary. They need to step it up when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations. I won't be returning. Only plus was the nail tech was nice, but again, not sure they are skilled or sanitary enough to provide services that may leave you susceptible to fungus and skin infections. read more

I Hate my nails... definitely got stuck with a beginner in the back. I described over the phone and in person that I have a UV gel they seem to not know what that was. She was filling my nails with the UV gel color that was light pink that matched the UV gel. I didn't realize it until she was halfway done and I was like well that's really weird but I just let it slide to see what would happen. I'm not really one to complain. It's just Nails right! Not right, I showed her the design that I wanted and it looks nothing like what I wanted. I went to this salon twice. Once was to get a gel set. It went well and everything was fine. I went back to remove the gel set and just get a regular gel manicure. In the process of removing the gels they shaved my nails so much that every single one of my nails now bends completely. They made my nails so thin that they are breaking in the middle almost leaving my skin exposed. I have never had a worse experience at a nail salon. The place is filthy on top of this. Please do yourself a favor and do not patronize this business. The only thing they have going for them is the sweet receptionist. I made an appointment for a pedicure and it turned out to be the worst experience. I just had to get up and leave. The staff did not argue with me and understood my concern. I've been getting pedicures a long time to know the routine. The gentleman doing my feet was not skilled in this profession and the cleanliness was questionable. You would think the place would focus on that being that we have been dealing with a pandemic. While there two other women showed up with appts and the workers were not there and receptionist asked the women to wait 30-45mins. One women was going to get a pedicure and when she saw his attempt at mine ( she kindly asked to look) she said hell no. My advice is to keep place clean and to get employees to be on time.
