Full disclosure: I did not actually have any services done there. That was because the entire vibe gave me the heeby jeebies. First of all there is no parking. There is a tiny parking lot, but it's all private. I was directed to use the lot next door, in front of a restaurant and liquor store, which felt wrong in the first place and was made worse by a menacing looking man eyeing me and my car. When I walked into the nail place (I cannot bring myself to call it a salon), the first thing I noticed was the rickety old threshold that I had to gingerly walk on/over to get inside. They really need to fix that! Immediately facing me was a messy area with something like a plastic shower curtain separating a back area, and junk everywhere. There was food stashed on a shelf to my right. Totally makeshift. The area to the left was where they did the nails. The lady pointed out several different areas around the walls where the polish was. The first one I went to was shocking. Almost every bottle looked old and partly used, I didn't see one in which the contents hadn't separated in what looked like a long time ago. At that point I knew I couldn't go through with it. She is passionate about what she does but most especially serving her clients. She offers the most competitively priced mani/pedi services with the highest quality. Most salons upcharge for callus removal, salt scrubs, higher quality Essie polish, though not Lee. So I made up for it in a well-deserved, generous tip. Was in the area and decided to do my nails spur of the moment. Called and was told to come in. Arrived and they were empty...perfect timing. Started with my regular pedicure which was done well. I even got a nice leg/foot massage and they have the chair massagers. Mimi who did my toes was the absolute sweetest and it seemed very genuine. My nails were a gel mani and the lady who did them was also sweet. Nails were even and not rushed. The place is clean and looks kept up. I removed a star because there wasnt a large selection for gel colors and they didn't have the matching pairs so I had to try and match a gel color with a non gel color. Which I gave up on and just picked two colors I liked and were similar. Also they didn't use disposable nail equipment but rather sanitized. I'm a bit more comfortable with new. read more

This is my first time visiting Joyner's Nail Salon and I was pleasantly surprised that the location was actually quite spacious. The sisters that own the salon are very nice and friendly. I did not have to wait more than 5 minutes to get my gel manicure. The cost of a gel manicure with a design on one finger on each hand is $40. This in my opinion is a bit high but the quality of the work was very good and my manicurist was very experienced at what she was doing. She was quick and my nails look great! I do wish that there were more gel color options here. I felt like the gel selection was limited and they didn't have matte colors. They did have an assortment of mood gel color but I didn't try this. Overall, I would go there again because the service was quick. I plan on visiting again for a pedicure next week! FYI: The parking in front of the salon is private. You have to park in the lot across the street on find street parking. read more

I walked in today to get my nails manicured at Joyner nails in Yonkers. The customer service was very poor. There were a couple of caucasian women being worked on and the lady told me it would be a 10 min wait. I said ok. She seemed nervous however and kept looking at another Asian lady who I assumed was her boss. Then she asks me what I want done and I say gel or shellac. She quickly says o no we don't do acrylic. I say I don't want acrylic but gel. She seemed confused. 2 other caucasian women walk in and she says again no we don't do it. I am now wondering what's going on. I am African visiting from Toronto where I have never experienced such weird behavior. I left feeling very let down by that experience. read more

Do not bother! I came here to get a gel manicure. And what I got was a terrible experience. The place is nothing much to look at. But, that's not what made it a bad experience. I decided to come here because I recently moved into the area. I was greeted nicely by Angie and Mimi. Angie began my manicure and left my cuticles in horrible shape. The manicure lasted about 5 minutes. She was about to start the process to paint my nails. I asked her to fix it, politely, and she got upset. Asked me "where?" And said "ugh!" She treated me as if I was such a nuisance. She even handed me the nail file so I could fix it myself. At the point, I just said "I can go if this is not a good time." Mimi came over and redid the manicure. She apologized for Angie and said she was "hungry". Hangry or not, horrible experience and the gel manicure chipped in 2 days. read more

After trying many nail salons in my lifetime... I think I have found the one that I can rely on! So after visiting on my 4th mani & pedi, I am very relieved that I get the same satisfaction on my nails. Nails are clean, cuticles are happy and color is painted on evenly. Staff are the usual, I don't know if that's a bad thing - but I don't mind, I like to put my headphones on and read my magazines. This is considered "my time" away from work and stress (lol). I love that the wait time is close to 5 minutes at most - but that's how long it takes me to pick a color (don't judge me). And parking is a puzzle, so I try to get there at the most quiet times, like 11am on a Tuesday or 3pm on a Wednesday etc. Will be a fan "foreva"! read more

I was looking for a Nail salon close to home and found this through Yelp. I was a little worry because I usually go where my friends recommend me to, this time I use Yelp. I was very pleased with their service the place was very clean and a nice size. They have 4 massage chairs and 4 tables, Mimi and her staff were very nice and sweet. I did a manicure and pedicure today and I liked how they came and I also liked the time frame it took all within 30 minutes. The best part No pain at all, at the end I received a wonderful massage. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the parking. If you are new park either next to the deli or by the old A&P parking lot, because the parking in front of their store is reserved for the tenants upstairs. I will go again, they are open at 10am through 7pm. I suggest you call first to be sure they are not super busy. The prices are reasonable as other nail places around the area. read more

The place is not clean, doesn't smell clean, doesn't look clean, is just not clean. Despite my initial impression and against my better judgment, I sat down for a gel manicure. The woman was about to cut my cuticles with a clipper that had just been laying on the (I'm sorry - completely filthy, I mean black with grime, and peeling) table top when I asked her to please use a clean tool. Mimi (The owner) does amazing eyebrows. I was recommended by a friend who is a consistent customer to the place and as soon as i came in and told them my relationship to her they were super nice. the lady made consistent conversation with me. I have a low pain tolerance and it usually hurts a lot getting my brows waxed but when she did it she had me completely relaxed and it barely hurt. Typically, I'm also skeptical of nail salons for getting my eyebrows waxed at but i must say i've been corrected. This was the first time i went today and i will for sure be back again!!! read more

Mimi and staff are sooo nice! They welcome you and make you feel like family. She clearly remembers each and every returning customer and welcomes them with open arms and says bye to them with hugs. It's very nice to see that personal connection. However, and I feel bad writing this, but, my nail experience was not great. I have the gel mani and the attention to detail was lacking. The gel dried over the sides of my nail bed and then she filed my nails edges after the gel had dried which I found very odd. The point of having the gel on the edge of the front part of the nail is to keep it from peeling and catching on things so that was odd for me. Then off to my pedi. I have to say that I got cut once and two coats were applied and the color looked spotty. I wanted to say put a third coat but again I felt bad Bc they were so nice and I didn't want to come off as a snob. Overall it's a cozy nice place to go to. It's not upscale or anything like that, but it's welcoming and home-like if that's what you're looking for. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back here. I'm really trying to find a place decently priced near me but seems to me I'll have to stick to my favorite spot in the flat iron district of manhattan. Wamp wamp.
