Clever marketing!

On a recent trip to the Bay Area we took an Uber trip to Sausalito for some retail therapy and lunch. This little Socks Shop was the first stop on our adventure and we were reluctant to leave we were having so much fun. I love to buy socks, rarely wear them, but they are so much fun to match to friends and give as vacation gifts. My sister in law found a Yoda sock hat she bought as inspiration for her third grade class. I found wine socks, turkey socks, bossy socks, St Patty's socks and Warriors Socks to wear while watching their games for good luck. Magic Socks that I will be putting in family ladies stockings at Christmas. Little 2 inch bundles that you sprinkle with water and they explode, not really, into a regular sized pair of socks. Too cool. Everyone that was in the shop was just having fun, exclaiming gleefully the pair of socks they just found. R2D2, Sharks, bridges, leg warmers (some more risqué than others) I walked out with $100 in socks and don't regret a purchase. I will return next time I'm in the Bay Area and buy even more. Better than an amusement park!

I remember feeling like I had stumbled upon a treasure chest filled with Hello Kitty paraphernalia when a friend introduced me to sockdreams.com. Before that, I used to think socks were pretty boring, but the variety of socks and leggings I found on that site completely changed my mind. The prices combined with the fact that I was a jobless tween held me at bay, and I never indulged my burgeoning sock cravings (yes, I know that sounds weird). Enter my awesome current boss who came back from a trip to Sausalito earlier this year with a pair of Maneki Neko socks for me! I asked her where she found such unique socks, and she told me about this cute little store called SOXALITO. Fast forward to early November, and I find myself planning a bike riding excursion from the SF Ferry Building to Sausalito with my friend for his birthday. When I shared my plans with my boss, she reminded me to check this place out, so I bookmarked it on Yelp. My friend and I made it to Sausalito a little after 2 PM on a Monday. After we locked up our bikes near the ferry building, we grabbed lunch at Copita (another great recommendation by my boss), and then meandered up to Soxalito at 771 Bridgeway. At first glance, I wanted to go ahead and take the whole store with me. My friend talked me down from the ledge, though, and I walked away with 6 pairs of socks (3 of which are in the photo I uploaded for this place). Socksmith Dia De Los Muertos Socks - 7.50 Living Royal Banana Split Socks - 8 AMU Little Bow Socks - 9 (Not Pictured) Socksmith Gnome Socks - 7.50 Stance Hawkins Socks (Men's) - 12 Magic Sock (Dog Print) - 8 ^ The magic socks are up at the front register - just add water to make them grow from a tiny sock shape to regular sized ones! :) I think my parents would disapprove of paying this much for a single pair of socks, and I normally would, too, I suppose... but that just means that these make great gifts! I might not be able to rationalize getting them all for myself, so they're great ways to help the people you care about treat themselves, right? Also, what a way to support a local business! A couple of final notes - 1) Sign Up for the Sock Club!! Buy 10 pairs, get $10 off of your next purchase. Also, they ring a little Safeway cowbell once you sign up - cute! 2) Receipt Notes: No refunds, exchange only within 30 days. If you're in Sausalito, I highly recommend stopping in to at least browse. But don't even think about it if you know that you have poor impulse control. In such instances make sure you can bring a friend or two stronger than you to drag you out before you end up emptying your wallet!

Yeah Warriors Thanks for the awesome Season!! I love all my Soxalito Socks and the owner, Aness is the GREATEST!

Such a cute place with a mind-boggling selection of reasonably-priced socks. Great place to grabbing gifts for the trip home, too.

Founded in 1948 by visionary ceramicist Edith Heath, the brand is an icon of California modern design. The items here are undeniably expensive, but the timeless design and constantly updating of color palettes make each piece feel special. In 2003, the company was revitalized by husband-and-wife product design and business team, who thoughtfully reinvented the brand. Heath is a great example of how with a good steward, classic design can be successfully revived and made modern. I find Heath to be a good spot for finding special design focused gifts.

I stopped by today, with my mom, to buy my sister some gifts for her wedding. I loved the new colors I saw - they had some yellow bowls and bulb vases that I was seriously tempted to buy, in addition to the other items. What I didn't love was the lack of customer service. I don't expect or want to be waited on hand and foot, but a simple acknowledgement would have been nice, rather than having multiple employees just watching us the entire time. I ended up purchasing from the seconds section and buying less than anticipated due to the overall vibe. I try to be understanding, and perhaps something was off for them today. Regardless, I was so uncomfortable in the store that I waited outside while our items were gift wrapped.
