My wife couldn't find the mask she wanted, so the employees called us when the new shipment came in, took pictures for us and allowed us to order over the phone. On a recent trip to the Bay Area we took an Uber trip to Sausalito for some retail therapy and lunch. This little Socks Shop was the first stop on our adventure and we were reluctant to leave we were having so much fun. I love to buy socks, rarely wear them, but they are so much fun to match to friends and give as vacation gifts. My sister in law found a Yoda sock hat she bought as inspiration for her third grade class. I found wine socks, turkey socks, bossy socks, St Patty's socks and Warriors Socks to wear while watching their games for good luck. Magic Socks that I will be putting in family ladies stockings at Christmas. Little 2 inch bundles that you sprinkle with water and they explode, not really, into a regular sized pair of socks. Too cool. Everyone that was in the shop was just having fun, exclaiming gleefully the pair of socks they just found. R2D2, Sharks, bridges, leg warmers (some more risqué than others) I walked out with $100 in socks and don't regret a purchase. I will return next time I'm in the Bay Area and buy even more. I remember feeling like I had stumbled upon a treasure chest filled with Hello Kitty paraphernalia when a friend introduced me to sockdreams.com. Before that, I used to think socks were pretty boring, but the variety of socks and leggings I found on that site completely changed my mind. After we locked up our bikes near the ferry building, we grabbed lunch at Copita (another great recommendation by my boss), and then meandered up to Soxalito at 771 Bridgeway. At first glance, I wanted to go ahead and take the whole store with me. My friend talked me down from the ledge, though, and I walked away with 6 pairs of socks (3 of which are in the photo I uploaded for this place). What a fun little store with an amazing variety of socks for men and women. I don't even know where to start but if you are looking for socks with profanity, marijuana, bananas, insects, avocados, really anything you can imagine they will have it here. The only reason I don't give five stars is because I really was hoping they would have a larger selection of children's socks and they did not. My thought about this store is that the size of the store doesn't offer the biggest selection of socks and the middle aged woman behind the counter with the dark hair and sparkling eyeshadow... Uh yeah.. Watching paint dry on the wall would have been funner and more interesting to talk to. Yeah.. Believe me when I say I love dogs. But boy she really loves dogs. So much so that, giving that adorable dog waiting outside the store a smile didn't take any effort and believe me.. I understand. But boy giving your customer the same kind of positiveness kind of is important too, especially because if it wasn't for customers, you wouldn't have a job. Kind of important. A dangerous place for Soxaholics like me. I only did one trip though the store least I buy way too many pairs. I'm one of these people who buys things for everyone I know, be it socks, candy, DVDs or anything. I found some stocks that have a relaxed ankle fitting--perfect for my chubby ankles. They were 3 for $12! There are socks for everyone here---cat and dog lovers; sushi, donut, coffee and other foodie lovers; sports, flowers and much more. Darling socks for babes and toddlers; socks for girls; socks for boys and men; tights; leg warmers, gloves, toe socks... This is sock heaven! The young woman who waited on me enrolled me in the sock club-I bought enough to get my $10 off. She was also very friendly and helpful! Unique items and lots of them! I would suggest the store get a separate line for incoming calls AND personal calls, and another one for their credit card machine. We were done browsing the store and settled on some items for purchase. My gf placed her items on the counter for payment, then the phone rang. The rep answered it and made my friend wait until she chatted on the phone for more than just a couple of minutes. My friend came over to me while trying to be patient for the call to finish and was about to walk out. I suggested that the store is on our way back to her car so we can stop in again if she really wanted it. She hesitated so I decided to go back to the counter, pick up the items and again place them on e counter, look at the woman on the phone and pull out my wallet, implying "I am ready to give you my money. Do you want it?! Bc I can give it to someone else if you don't." She continued to ignore me and continued her phone conversation. Another rep finally came to the register and began cashing my friend out. I walked away. The woman continued to be on the phone which now sounded very much like a personal call. Apparently, because she was on the phone, a credit card sale had to be redone. I think one, get the phone system fixed, and secondly, don't give a new customer the opportunity to walk out for a phone call, especially when the customer is ready and willing to make a purchase. If it wasn't for the second associate coming to the rescue, your store would have been out of a $30 sale for two pairs of socks! I did not buy anything. Beware! When my mother and her friend purchased socks here the cashier did not return her credit card. The cashier claimed she returned it. They had not even left the counter. They went straight home and canceled the credit card but $300 had already been used within 40 minutes at a nearby 7-eleven. The other reviews here seem good and I see no one else has reported any such experience. The cashier probably thought my mother and her friend were Asian tourists and easy prey. I'm still laughing at this store's name- Soxalito, in Sausalito. Socks may seem like an odd gift, but these are no ordinary socks. There are socks that look like fish eating your legs, socks that are thick and cozy, socks that look like shoes, socks with sports players faces on them... I mean, really, the sheer variety of sock choices shocked me. I'm of the "white or white with colored trim" sock variety, so it was great to see how more adverturous people could get some great socks. If you enjoy sexist customer service and socks, this is the place for you! I had never experienced a sock store and discovered it when it was closed. I was stoked to go and buy several sets of socks, a hat or two, and any other novelty items I came across. I went in with my boyfriend and his sister a few days later while it was open; I was visibly excited and ready to spend $75+ once in the store. Within 5 minutes of being there, the representative blatantly disregarded me and his sister and would only cater to my boyfriend who was not as interested in spending nearly as much as I was. If you go visit this store I hope your experience is better than mine, I was so upset I only spent $20 and would have returned them if my boyfriend hadn't talked me into keeping them.
