Dinner review…read more Ambience: modern Greek decor. Loved the booth and the tables. Good for both small and large parties Food: our favorite items were Kolokithokeftedes, Halloumi Cheese (grilled orange really elevated this dish), Beets, Horta (side) The Greek salad was standard. The fish was perfectly cooked but when compared to other restaurants did not really stand out. I would stick with the appetizers! Drinks: loved the drink choices, especially the Onassis Service was fantastic Highly recommend for elevated Greek food in a modern setting

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

Authentic Greek cuisine in a bustling environment. We got the Elliniki (Greek salad), Krya Pikilia…read more(traditional spread platter), Synagrida (red snapper), and Papoutsaki (eggplant stuffed with beef and topped with bechamel). The salad was a refreshing complement to the other dishes we ordered. My spread preferences from most favorite to least were Melintzanosalata (roasted eggplant), Tzatziki (cucumber yogurt), Tyrokafteri (spicy whipped feta), Skordalia (garlic and olive oil whipped potato), and Taramosalata (fish roe and whipped potato). Pita bread that came with it was great. The red snapper was nicely charred, seasoned well, and quite tender. Papoutsaki was the heaviest dish of the bunch but tasty too, a nice combo of flavors. They gave a complimentary semolina flour cake for dessert--pretty good albeit gritty in texture

I tried my friend's green beans which were not bad, but could use more flavor. He got something that he's unsure of, seasoned beef perhaps, and it was decidedly not good. I wish I knew what it was so I know not to get it....

Best Greek restaurant I've had to date!…read more Ambiance (5/5): There are a few tables inside where the decorations are white/blue to the classic décor style of Greek restaurants. There's also plenty of outdoor patio seating with cute vine/florals draped along the seating area. A little dark with the dim lighting when we dined in the evening. Service (5/5): We arrived around 8p on a Sunday evening and it was jammed packed. They had an opening right when we arrived which was super lucky. They were attentive throughout our experience. We were glad that the server's recommendations to # of plates was proportional to our needs. Food (5/5): every single dish was outstanding! The starter was a complementary hummus with the softest, moist, pita bread. I could've easily eaten this and been happy. Our favorite was the baked Halloumi with honey, fig jam and cranberries. The exterior had a nice crust from the caramelized honey. It was rich but paired well with the table pita (which they kindly refilled!!) The next item was Shieftalia pork kebabs which seems so easy but was filled with flavor from the onions and herbs. It paired well with the yogurt sauce. Lastly, we had the baked eggplant (almost reminded me of a Greek version of eggplant parm), this lacked a little flavor but still very good. Wish this dish had a bit more spice. The 3 appetizers were large in portion and enough for the 2 of us to share. We loved it and can't wait to come back!

We ended up offering a Greek salad, spanakopita balls, zucchini fried balls, and then the large seafood platter which came with two sides. Everything was super tasty and the seafood was cooked to perfection. Platter came with octopus, grilled calamari, Grilled salmon, and grilled shrimp. However, for $95, platter could've been wayyyy bigger, it did come with 2 sides and we got the beets and chickpea stew. Both healthy and yummy!

I think it has such an intimate, romantic feel to it, making it a great spot for a date night. The prices run a touch higher, but the food is of quality. For my main entrée, I decided on chicken skewers, grilled up with peppers, onions and tomatoes, plated with crispy fries, tzatziki sauce and a fresh salad. I would definitely return back because of the delicious food and attentive service.

I subtracted a star (maybe I should've subtracted more?) for service, because I have never felt so rushed during a meal. We sat down and immediately a waiter came to take our order. We are not regulars, didn't even get a chance to look. When the food came (pretty quickly), he practically threw the plates in front of us. Then he tried to take the dishes away THREE DIFFERENT TIMES when it was very obvious we were not done. (We'd been there barely 30 minutes at this point because I was parked at a meter and was keeping my eye on the clock). The restaurant was half empty for dinner so no one was waiting for our table. I don't know why they were in such a hurry for us to leave. As amazing as the food was, my experience was so bad that I will not be coming back. Maybe this should've been 3.5 stars...

They have a small dining room in front and a larger enclosed outdoor dining room in the back. We opted to dine in the outdoor dining room. Customer service was top-notched and extremely welcoming and friendly! They have an outstanding menu with many terrific choices! We decided to dine family-stylez so that we could taste as many dishes as possible! Our shared menu: -- Complimentary homemade bread...topped with Zatar seasoning. Outstanding! -- Trio of Spreads $19: Tzatziki, Spicy feta, & Smoked Eggplant; Served with warm buttery Pita bread. All 3 spreads were excellent and distinctive. Delicious! -- Gravos Marinatos $18: Marinated anchovies in a zesty blend of EVOO and Mediterranean citrus. So fresh and tasty! -- Mousaka Croketes $18: Crispy croquettes of béchamel, roasted eggplant, and potato with savory ground-beef ragù; served over béchamel and finished with grated Kefalograviera. Bursting with flavor and just fabulous!! -- Grilled Shrimp and side of your choice $38: Six jumbo shrimp, flame-grilled to perfection; finished with their signature ladolemono (olive oil-lemon) dressing; served with side of Horta (Swiss Chard, simply boiled and finished with EVOO and garlic). The jumbo shrimp and sauce were mouth-wateringly delicious! -- Greek Style Lamb Chops $50: 1 lb of grilled Lamb Chops (4pcs), served with Cretan fries and tzatziki sauce. The lamb chops were perfection and the cretan fries were outstanding! Soooo satisfying!! -- Cod Fillet Ladokola $38: Wild-caught cod fillet baked in parchment paper with potato, tomato, onion, carrot, zucchini, capers, lemon, and thyme. Delicious combination of ingredients! This was such an in indulgent dinner, and so satisfying! So satisfying that we didn't leave any room for dessert! Haha But no regrets! This was an excellent meal! Thank you to Ambrosia Garden and their excellent staff for making this such a memorable experience! I cant wait to return to try other menu items! Recommended!!

We ordered the branzino, grilled octopus, and Black Sea bass, and each dish showcased impeccably fresh seafood, prepared with restraint and confidence rather than unnecessary embellishment. Having traveled through Greece and enjoyed seafood in countless tavernas, I appreciate when a restaurant understands that authenticity isn't about being flashy--it's about respecting the ingredients and welcoming guests with genuine hospitality. Loukumi captures that spirit beautifully. From the warm, attentive service to the perfectly executed seafood, every detail reflected the traditions that make Greek dining so memorable. It was well worth the drive, and every penny spent. This is the kind of restaurant you happily travel for more than once.

Those are my two favorite things to order at a Greek restaurant except for here! Both were the most disappointing Greek appetizers I ever ordered. The salad had no dressing and no seasoning whatsoever! The cucumbers were hard because they weren't ripe yet. I told the waiter, and he simply said they don't put dressing or seasoning because not everyone likes it which makes zero sense to me. The Saganaki cheese had no seasoning and the coating was soft. Luckily the dinners ended up being very good! We had the pastitsio, methismeness, and a chicken kebab. The pastitsio and the methismeness were DELICIOUS! The chicken kebab needed more seasoning, and it didn't come with any tzatziki sauce which was strange since we are in a Greek restaurant! There are too many good Greek restaurants in Astoria for everything here not to be up to par.
