It is an old mill that has been transformed into multiple different stores, restaurants and services. When we last came in we went to a flea market event, stopped at their arts and crafts store, and then also went into their antique store. We have also stopped here when we needed to go the RMV since it is also housed in the complex. Overall the list of stores, restaurants, and services located in this restored mill are too long to list. It is definitely worth dropping by or checking their website to see all they have to offer. The next time we are in the area we will make it a point to stop in again. Final note, they also rent apartments in this mill which looked incredible.

my brief stay here at the "House of Horrors," as my friends and family refer to it, I have been…read morephysically assaulted for no reason, I have had my apartment broken into on multiple occasions (with items stolen), I have had crackheads try to break into my apartment and harass me VIA the buzzer system looking for their crack which was distributed to them by the former resident of my apartment that used to reside in my apartment but moved across the street to avoid some of his customers, and has continued his crack dealing (again, the landlord does nothing) I have almost had my skull cracked open by the first-floor tenant that has been institutionalized against her will over ten times due to her violent behavior, I have developed asthma due to CONSTANT smoking in this "no- smoking" building, I have had homeless people get keys to my home without any explanation OR resolution from the landlord; I have caught (on multiple occasions) the property manager taking pictures of the door of my apartment with no apparent reason for being anywhere near my door; I have watched the maintenance people "clean" by sweeping a rug.., and the cherry on top has been the construction that started in the backyard (the former selling point for me), the knowledge of a construction happening was withheld from me until it began to, and the whores to the state *CHR reality * got a nice payout from the city coming in, tearing down every tree in the backyard making it essentially just dirt with Trash on it, and making a "bike path." that still hasn't been made... Over a year after, I've been stuck in this hell hole. I was lied to about the location of the trash and the laundry location before moving in. The hallway is always dirty and smells like smoke, crack smoke, cigarette smoke, weed smoke, 24/7, and you can bet that you'll be woken up at the ass crack of dawn by the "construction" in the backyard, but Don't worry, it's only every day from 7 AM-4 PM ;) oh! And Dont bother trying to open up your window to save yourself from the smell of smoke; the backyard smells like feet and more cigarette smoke now that there's no grass to absorb the scent of the People who live here... And Don't fool yourself into thinking the landlord or the health department will do anything to stop any of this; they won't. Lots of people are paid off, so this place can continue to be a hell hole. Definitely stay the fuck away if you know what is good for you!

Although it's called "towers," the Kimball is just one building that wraps around in a "U" shape. As of 2011, it's mostly owner-occupied; however, sometimes a condo owner rents one out on Craigslist. During the new millennium, as Springfield's Metro Center became more popular, the Kimball became a trendy residence for bohemians, artists, LGBTs, and empty-nesters -- people looking for an urban lifestyle without the high cost. History: Built in 1910 and opened in 1911 as The Hotel Kimball, the red-brick, neo-classical building was once advertised as "Western Massachusetts finest hotel." On its opening in 1911, it was reviewed by the New York Times as "ranking with the finest [hotels] in the country. A magnificent hotel, modern and metropolitan in every appointment." In 1920, the Hotel Kimball became famous as the site of the United States' first-ever commercial radio station, (WBZ AM & FM, which later moved to Boston.) The hotel was used by the radio station as an attraction to lure top talent. U.S. Presidents FDR and JFK stayed at the Kimball as guests, as did many famous actors and foreign dignitaries. The Hotel Kimball was the first "grand" hotel purchased by Sheraton Hotels and Resorts. For many years, this building was known as the Sheraton-Kimball Hotel. There are secret gardens and hallways in the building -- there's a lot of unique and historic detail that intellectually-curious people will find interesting. For example, the Kimball still features a grand lobby and large ballroom with a balcony overlooking a hardwood dance floor. During the early 1980s, a condominium developer bought the Kimball, with the intention of turning it into "Springfield's premier condominium address."
