There are picnic tables under the gazebo connected to the restrooms. There is a children's play area and the path also runs alongside a property that has beautiful horses. The path is connected to several local communities....lucky them! Definitely a park that you can come exercise or come do some reading, relaxing or even "Work from home"! One note: there's a lady with a neck fan who dominates the small-dog portion of the dog park. And she is there ever. Single. Day. She acts like she runs the place and she has a mean little dog who terrorizes most pups who try to enter. She will lazily call, "oh, he jut wants to play!" As her horrible dog tries to menace your pets, then rolls her eyes and eventually strolls over when the horrid thing gets actively violent. I think she likes having the park to herself, and she gets there super early, so everyone else just sort of avoids her spot. The good news is that she's usually gone by 10 or 11 AM, but she's a menace.

Coming here for a birthday party, we were pleased by this public area that offered a way to cool down for the summer, be outside, and socialize in an affordable way with other friends. My daughter enjoyed playing in the water, resting to eat treats, and running around the playground afterward when she could dry off and warm up a little. The playground has a spongy mat that I appreciated, considering a trip and fall would be especially devastating otherwise. I'm glad this was thought through!

Hathaway Park got a upgrade recently to their playground. There is covered shelters near by which are popular to reserve for Birthday parties and celebrations. The bathrooms are easily accessible, though outdated and could use some renovations. The playground itself is geared towards the younger side but the park itself is surrounded by the woods, a big open field, a basketball court and a baseball field, so I've noticed the older kids can easily occupy themselves just fine, especially if they bring their own bicycles or scooters. This is a popular park to bring dogs as well, because of the ample space to walk including a small path in the woods. Depending on the time of day you go there is shade, and plenty of places to sit. Very popular park in the summer season, but overall a nice setup. Parking lot was also recently paved and is next to the shelters making thing easy for set up should you decided to reserve a shelter. Definitely worth checking out!

If Greensboro and High Point can claim somewhere as a "central park" it would have to be the parks…read moreand rec complex created by the fusion of City Lake Park, Jamestown Park and Golf Course, the High Point Greenway, and the Piedmont Environmental Center converging together on this point. If you can't figure out a way to spend a day outside somewhere in all that, you might just not like the outdoors! The Piedmont Environmental Center serves as kind of a trailhead for the High Point Greenway, as well as a system of lakeside trails that run along city lake and the golf course. The welcome center is attractive on the outside, though decisively could use a facelift indoors. Still, it has what you need. Restrooms, vending, information and brochures, and even a small exhibit featuring native snakes and amphibians from the Piedmont. I never pass up a chance to check out some snakes, preferably behind glass like these. The trails make a great place for a light intensity hike, a simple nature walk, or just a place to walk the dog. On my visit, it was an overcast and cool day in early spring, so it's not quite time for peak visitors yet. I prefer this time of year, things are quiet and serene, and the trees are just starting to bloom. There is no shortage of signage along the trails, and ample places to make sure you clean up after your dog. Another note, if you're a Pokemon Go player, there are no less than 12(!) easy to access gyms at both the major hub around the visitor center, and then several along the trails, not to mention a litany of Pokestops. Please only read this information and follow it if you're on team Mystic. The rest of you can feel free to forget you read it. All of this is free, so get out and enjoy nature as North Carolina provides in abundance!

The dog park area itself is pretty well maintained and they have staff regularly patrolling to clean up and make sure there's no issues. They also have a couple pretty decent size TVs so this could be a good place to catch a game while still getting exercise for your dog. You don't actually need to bring a dog to come, though you might need to sign some basic paperwork. I'd check with the website or call first. If you don't have a dog because of your living situation or other reasons this can be a good way to get your fix and enjoy some good beer at the same time. Overall it's a pretty fun unique place and you can tell the owners really care about making it a positive enjoyable experience for everyone.

If you have a small dog go to the left and if you have a big dog go to the right. You can thank me later! It has a nice water feature, both parks are just replicas of each other, has a nice picnic table with multiple places to sit as well as benches strategically placed all around the edge of the park. It has a few agility items of in one corner by themselves and the rest of the park is just open area for your dog to run in. It is built on a nice gentle sloping Hill and has concrete pathways to get to the entry. Both entries are double gated and concrete and the fence line is all deeply buried in some kind of mulch around the edge of the park.
