I don't know. Three stars may be generous. Then again, I only came to buy a bike not get one fixed which is what I think they do more of. I say that because the bikes were in a small space up front and the back where they did repairs was larger. The thing about buying a good bike is you're going to spend some money and I know that. My last bike cost me $415 seven years ago and I loved it. My Daddy would ride it too sometimes and I ended up just giving it to him. I have been promising my coworker to go on rides with him so I set out to buy a bike. This place has a lot of great bikes and they range from around $399 to a couple thousand is what I saw. The only thing I didn't like is that most of them were used and repaired but they still just looked used and none of them were cute. The new ones were nice but they were very expensive and I still would need to get parts replaced like seat(all of the seats on all bikes looked super narrow) and even the bike chains on the new bikes looked suspect. Maybe I'm too picky but I want a new bike that doesn't need modifications. Simple. So I probably won't buy a bike here but I would bring it in for repairs if it needed it. Staff was very nice, I can say that. Somebody in the shop brought their little puppy but he was a little scared of me when I went to pet him. Random, I know. read more

Terrible terrible customer service. I went to drop my grandmothers bike off to get repaired. I only wanted brake pads the repair guy talked me into getting an entire née break system for $80. When I went to pick up the bike it was bent up. See the pictures below. Then they argue that they had to tear up and Bend her bike to place the too small breaks. Then they finally agree to repair the fender take the $80 brakes off and put the simple brake pads. Then they refused to refund me the original amount since they claim they had to fix the fender they broke! DO NOT GO HERE the owners son is very rude and sarcastic. read more

SW Schwinn has a great selection of bicycles including road, mountain, cruisers, children's bikes, etc. I've personally bought a road and cruiser bike for my mom and received the helped I needed to make my choice of bike. The customer service is friendly and to top it off you will get warranty on your bicycle which I thought was completely fair. If you want someone to give you information you need to be happy, vs. what they need to say to make more of a sale than ou wish for, this is a good place. august 2013 Update: We decided to start training for the MS 150, so my wife needed a road bike. The have a selection of used bikes, and she got a beaut at a great price. She's happy, so I'm happy. Very helpful staff here. I came here to fix up a bike that was given to me as a gift. The lady worker helped me to get my bike off the rack and brought it into the store. I needed to have the front tire changed, they did that. Then after the guy in the back who deals with the bike issues came out and told me what more needed to be fixed. He told me the front tire needed to be trued. I said "why not, yeah go ahead." Took care of that, paid for it, and the lady helped with getting my bike unto the rack. She was so nice. I love my bike! My husband was envious; so we went back and he got himself a very snazzy bike as well! Later, we got a bike rack too. Someone even helped us install it because we didn't know how to attach it when we first got it. They are patient, helpful, knowlegeable, and friendly! A neighborhood institution - they recently hopped from one side of Fondren to the other, but they've been in the area for decades. Very responsive, quick maintenance service for bike commuters like myself. A great place to buy a used real bike (rather than a Walmart special) for a very reasonable price. I have been a long time customer at Southwest Schwinn. I have had work done at several other shops around town but Southwest has the best mechanic in town, Matt. He is the bike whisperer. I have never had any thing less than first class service from him. Is wealth of knowledge and laid back demeanor makes my visits to the shop both educating and entertaining. I got ripped off again at Southwest Schwinn by the owner. He did not honor the repair price and written estimate. One of the prices charged was 50% above their quoted fees. I did not receive a call with an adjusted quote either - they just did the work. The prices were outrageous. What a rip-off!!! I won't be going back. This is not my first bad experience. I bought a bike and hundreds of dollars of accessories at Southwest Schwinn and this is how they mistreat repeat customers. They don't value long-term customers. I recommend Cyclone Cycles on Bellaire just inside Loop 610 - better customer focus - good value - and they value customers. read more
