Egg & cheese on an everything bagel
Ashleigh M.

The sandwich lacked flavor (for my personal taste) but the bagel itself was delightfully chewy and I loved the varieties of sourdough available. Kind and helpful staff in a no frills restaurant. I would go back to try a some of their other items and I loved that it's easy to grab a bite to eat and walk around the cute downtown area.

Plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese

I stopped here before heading back to LAX in hopes it would be better than airport food. Unfortunately I didn't care for this. I know the bagels are made of sourdough but it tasted strongly of corn. It made for an unsettling taste. I wouldn't try it again.

Love love love Southwest Bread! I stopped in a few months ago and grabbed the Popeye Roll and the Tuna Roll. Both were perfectly balanced with bread and fillings. It is a great mini meal or snack and doesn't make you feel like you're overdoing the carbs! This Christmas, our church ordered them as our special treat for our Christmas service. They were a hit! I called 72 hours in advance to order them from Courtney because they make the orders with small batch sourdough. She is great! They were ready for pickup Sunday Morning! We had several varieties...Popeye and Olive Oyl, Babaganouch, Tomato Pie and the famous breakfast like roll! Thank you Southwest Bread for delicious and affordable food for the crowd!

Porto with focaccia

Quick grab while in the area. Sandwich is great and delicious. I got el porto with focaccia while the wife got sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. I wish the lettuce on porto is not shredded Overall, delicious and would definitely get it again. A small cafe with limited space to wait around but with tables and chairs to dine in. Parking can be tough. Wait time is long so relax while you wait for your food.

Yum!! Gotta love a good sandwich place :-) Right in the heart of El Segundo, this is a fun and casual lunch spot. They also have some cute, delish "stuffed rolls" which are great to take home!

Arnold Palmer

My second time back here for lunch and this time I tried their sandwich called The Jetty. I got it on their homemade sourdough focaccia bread. The sandwich was massive and very delicious. I only ate half and I was stuffed! I also got an Arnold Palmer which looks like it was homemade also? It was my first time having one. It was pretty good. Service is always great here. The staff is always friendly.

Hammerland sandwich

Southwest Bread is an inviting, quaint establishment with friendly and welcoming staff. There are a variety of food options such as sandwiches, bagels, and biscuits. I got the Hammerland sandwich which had tuna salad, arugula and red onion. It was delicious and fresh! I will definitely be coming back :)

Everything bagel with vegan cream cheese and cucumbers.

Incredibly delicious bread & bagels & sandwiches!! - Bring a stack of sandwiches for your office! Call ahead! - Great breakfast sandwiches! - Deli sandwiches are also fantastic. Very simple and very high quality. - The sourdough baguette is super. - Friendly service too! This is a gem of a local business that we should support! Sliced country bread, baguettes, wonderful bagels. Quiet dining area with smells of the bakery.

Ham, egg and cheese biscuit

This place is pretty good, everything sell out fast, you have to come early to get what you want! I ordered a ham, egg and cheese biscuit, it was pretty tasty! Try it out if you're in the area!

Lox & bagel

Service was great & Price is Wonderful for the location. I ordered the lox and bagel with onion bagel. I don't know why when I order a lox and bagel in California, it comes with cucumbers and tomatoes. Whenever I order a lox and bagel in NYC, it's usually, salmon, capers, cream cheese, onion & bagel. But whenever I order my lox & bagel here, there it is. I picked out cucumbers and tomatoes first before I dug in. This bagel was decent. Overall it was good but if I ever come back, I will order minus cucumbers and tomatoes.

Porto sandwich

I've been here before to try their bread, but this time I tried a sandwich (at my daughter's suggestion) and it was superb. I had the Porto - a turkey and provolone with pickled onions and aioli - on focaccia. It's an extra $2 to have it made on the focaccia, but well worth it. The sandwich was downright yummy. I would order that again in a heartbeat. They also make their own bagels in-house. I tried the sesame and it had sort of a sourdough vibe to it. Great place.

Chocolate and raspberry. Every single cake is so good - my favorite is the Nutella; also love the choco-strawberry, dark choco mousse, and coconut. Eons better than Sweet Lady Jane, susiecakes, Beckers, Torrance, etc. This place is small so I would go early or order ahead if you have specific needs or numbers of items. The owner, Carlos, is super nice and accommodating. Sometimes I cry on Monday when they're not open.

And then we were elated when it was revealed that they would be reopening under new ownership. But sadly, it just hasn't been the same. This was much more of a catastrophe to my wife who has been deeply in love with the Mixed Berry Cake at SLJ for many years. Enter Lido Bakery. Recently, we were driving down Rosecrans towards El Segundo looking for a bakery where we could get a nice slice of cake, when I remembered Lido Bakery. But as luck would have it, our timing was off. It was after 5:00 (or almost) and we knew we couldn't make it on time. This is how we ended up at Erewhon (please see my previous review). This was especially disappointing to my wife as, once reminded about Lido, she remembered that the baker there had originally come from SLJ. So today, we were much more on top of things. And even though we were not in time to get one of the famous cinnamon rolls, we did arrive in time to secure a slice of the desired Mixed Berry Cake. In fact, the baker even insisted on cutting the slice from an undecorated one that he had just finished icing. And it was extraordinary! The berries were so fresh and the flavor and texture of the cake was flawless. Just like my wife's favorite (sans the decorations). There are no tables and chairs at Lido Bakery. Not fancy really, clean but not fancy. This is a place where you come to buy something and carry it out. The USPS Mail Carrier came in while we were there. Picked up a few cookies and was gone in a flash. He was so happy! The selection of cakes in the front case was very impressive but I selected an eclair that looked like a work of (edible) art. It was an excellent choice. Now I have to figure out when I can get back to get a cinnamon roll. It might be a little out of the way but if you are looking for an exceptional bakery, look no further than Lido. You won't be disappointed.
