We were a little early arriving, but it all went south when we got to the airport, and a plane was taking its sweet time at the gate we needed to be at. So, we have been delayed and we will not actually be on time. It seems there should be better planning. The attendants were awesome, or it would have been a 2 or 3 star rating. read more

I understand that weather is outside the airline's control, and my complaint is not about the weather cancellation itself. My issue is how the situation was handled. Our Denver-to-Memphis flight was originally scheduled for 7:05 PM. It was repeatedly delayed to 10:30 PM, then 11:00 PM, then midnight, before eventually being cancelled and rebooked for 5:30 AM the next morning. What I don't understand is the handling of passenger assistance. We were not offered a hotel and meal voucher until approximately 11:20 PM, after spending more than four hours at the airport waiting through repeated delays. By that point, we had very little time to actually get to a hotel, sleep, and return to the airport for a 5:30 AM flight. I understand the airline cannot control the weather. However, it can control communication, contingency planning, and how quickly assistance is provided to stranded passengers. The repeated delays followed by a cancellation, combined with such late hotel and meal assistance, made an already difficult weather situation significantly worse. A 7:05 PM departure effectively became an overnight ordeal and disrupted the following day as well. Very disappointing handling of the situation. read more

Today is the day I realize that Southwest is no longer customer friendly and is just business. I put up with delays, many out of their control, but when I book at a specific fare for a specific itenerary and don't receive that service. There is never an accomodation made to raise the level of experience past that. BASIC FARE customers BEWARE! I booked a roundtrip for my mother, which we had to modify just the front leg of the trip. Southwest cannot accomodate that and requires cancellation of the entire round trip. If I had book two individual one-ways, not problem. This is nuanced games and legalize to make a buck. I really hope to see 1) Department of Transportation evaluate this going forward, 2)Hope some law firm would lead a class action regarding this type of practice and 3) Customers rise up and make sure that you shop for a new airline. I suspect it is the same at many. Southwest USE TO have a friendly customer facing, how can we SERVE business model. No longer! Sad to see this model of business innovation change from "We are not like most people" to "We are just like everyone else." Dont be fooled by your status they hand out, the extra leg room, and the wonderful pistachio gimmicks. I have flown for many years with SW and had become loyal. But, now I will be much more discerning about which flight and airline we will be flying with. To Southwest, Loyalty is only a catch phrase and one way street, it seems. It will take a long time for you to win back your advocates after you alienate them. And, many other customers will now here about the recent times of less than service vs the years of service that exceeded. As Gas Prices Soar due to global conflict, Southwest has a chance to stand out versus be like everyone else. Copy and pasting this to my best 100 friends. Ripples of opportunity to have Southwest make an impact or prove who they are. I am expecting more Corporate Greed. Sad to say that I used to be a great advocate of this company, but today I can no longer advocate for Southwest. Today, they are in my mind... the LEAST Customer Friendly Airline. Business is about creating service that people want, not need. We can do better!!! read more

We were loyal Southwest customers largely because of the two free checked bags. It wasn't necessarily about saving money -- we rarely even checked two bags each. It was the principle and the customer-friendly approach. It felt like Southwest was taking care of its passengers. With the recent change removing that policy, that experience is gone. I have to believe this came from a corporate decision focused purely on revenue without fully considering the impact on customer loyalty. If the goal was simply to increase revenue, it would have been far less disruptive to slightly increase ticket prices instead of introducing separate baggage fees. The previous policy was simple, transparent, and a big part of what made Southwest different from every other airline. Now that the one feature that clearly differentiated Southwest has been removed, there's really no reason for me to choose Southwest over any other airline moving forward. This change significantly worsens the customer experience and removes one of the main reasons many of us were loyal to the brand. read more

My flight was initially supposed to leave at 6 A.M. that was canceled and rescheduled for a 9 am flight, which was then canceled and switched to a 11 am flight which was delayed until 1 pm which was then delayed until 2:30pm which was then delayed until 4:20 pm. Our experience with Southwest Vacations for travel to Jamaica, was horrible! This was our fifth time going to Jamaica, but my first time using Southwest vacations. When booking they advertised a perk and explained we would have "free Club Mobay" for our group and we ended up paying for it once we got to club Mobay because they had no record of us from Southwest. So we had to pay for a service that was supposed to be free to us with our Southwest vacations reservation . Very disappointing and when you try to call, you have to call post travel which is very hard to get to and when you do finally reach someone it's someone overseas and they just tell you "sorry" and offer you a small credit to go with them again. This was my first and last time using Southwest vacations. read more

Great airline from my perspective. It's the only thing I fly if possible. Most of the time my flights are early and not cancelled. My bag arrives and I have zero qualms about the overall product/service they provide...they even found my wife's purse after we left the airport and realized at the rental car counter. (After 3 or 4 phone calls we located and returned to airport to pick it up) Phenomenal teamwork and a big thank you. Respectfully, Bryan OKC read more

Southwest is definitely not who I usually fly because I am definitely the type of flyer who likes to pick her seat, but the price was too good not to use. Unfortunately for us AFTER we made it through security we received a text our flight was delayed an hour. Well than things went worse and it ended up being delayed 4 HOURS!!!! Talk about a long day with kids in an airport. Well unlike most airlines Southwest definitely made up for it by giving us EACH $100 vouchers!!!! We ended up with $500 worth of flying credits!!! No airline has EVER compensated for their delays like this; at least not anyone I've used. Just off this experience alone will make me Southwest Airlines again. read more

While waiting for the counter to open, there was a significant line for the baggage counter. Once the line started to proceed, my girlfriend and I jumped into the priority line as we are both service members. Most airlines offer priority to service members when checking baggage, but apparently not Southwest. More on that to follow... We were second in line behind a couple that was taking their time to get to the counter. Then, one of the ladies working behind the counter then yelled "well you all are just standing there..." Once is was my turn to check, the same woman then said that I should have selected the other baggage section on the kiosk. I didn't know that was the process as that is different than most other airlines. As we were starting to walk towards security, the same woman then threw my bag and disregarded it onto the conveyor belt. She then proceeded to tell her coworkers, loud enough for others in line to hear, "well every person in the priority line was not priority status" as they laugh in unison. I understand that it was an early morning and they were propbably fed up with the line. However, Southwest has always been a usual favorite. Ever since they switched to assigned seating, and now the poor behavior from the check baggage desk, I am not sure that I will ever fly Southwest again. Especially after the fact that they treat service members and other customers so rudely. read more

Southwest at the Indianapolis Airport was similar to my experience elsewhere. They have fewer self-tagging kiosks than other SW airports, but that might be due to the number of flights. Their system for notifying you of delays may need tweaked so you don't get a barrage of messages in a few minutes with updates that keep changing. Get your info correct before sending out an alert. On the plane, it's the same as most normal flights. The flight attendants were funny on this one which makes the trip better. Yeah, some of the jokes are old, but still, it's fun to watch people who may not have heard them before react. I usually fly the airline with a direct flight and this was the winner for my trip home to Orlando. Thanks to all of the Southwest Employees who got me home safely! read more

Jasmine emp number E149777 I called Southwest to look at changing my reservations because we were notified that my mother in law was having a surprise birthday. Only problem we are just coming from a cruise and from past experience would be difficult to change our flight. Jasmine the Southwest rep picked up the phone and as I explained my dilemma was professional, empathetic, and compassionate to my situation. She researched all of the options and was able to change our reservation with minimal disruption and even saved us a few dollars. It is not often that I am in contact with someone of Jasmine's caliber however I felt it was proper to recognize her for the effort which was above and beyond what I anticipated. What makes a great airline? Hassle free departures and on time arrivals. Oh yeah, your bag(s) arriving in baggage claim in a reasonable time too! Who does it better than Southwest Airlines. The Indy crew was excellent on my most recent and no hiccups whatsoever. The airport is the best in the country too as voted on by travelers. No ones perfect and yes I've had a bump, or two that I faintly remember flying into Indy over a dozen times. However, the good far outweighs the negative. Another reason I love Southwest is their no bag fee for one free. Southwest Airlines motto of "Low fares. Nothing to hide. That's transferency". If they keep delivering great service and low fares I see no reason to not be a loyal passenger. read more

Southworst. The once great airline still struggles to recover from the Christmas meltdown 2 years ago. The new employees look dis shelved. I found one napping in the back of the plane. Southwest has been by far the best airline I've flown on the past year flying mainly 737-800 and 737-MAX 8. Seating is kinda tricky. They board according to groups A 1-60, B 1-60 and C 1-60, etc. Group placement is determined by your 24hr check in. The first 55 people to check in get group A and so on. If you forget to check in they offer upgraded boarding for about 40.00. Employees seemed pleasant and extra bags are free. read more

I recently flew with Southwest Airlines. We flew from Indianapolis to Orlando on March 30th. I accidentally left my jacket on the plane and it had my key fob in the pocket. I didn't realize it until we got to our hotel room & I received a call from a lady named Jennifer that worked for Southwest stating they had my jacket and key fob. We informed them that we were leaving on a 7 day cruise and they stated that it would be put in a safe and I could pick it up at the airport on our return. After the cruise we returned to the airport and no one knew what we were talking about. We asked for management, we went to lost and found, & nothing. I have filed the online missing item report. We flew back home to Indianapolis and I thought I would attempt to call and see if "Jennifer" (the woman who called that found the item) happened to be working. She was there and remembered me. She looked for my jacket and was able to tell me that it was shipped to Alabama & gave me a tracking & item number. We have been able to tell that it Is at Southwest's lost and found in Alabama, but we can't speak to a live person and I added this information to my lost and found report. I continue to receive automated e-mails from Southwest stating they are searching for my item and they are unable to find it and if after 30 days my case will be closed. It's just upsetting because I know they have it in their possession. read more

I've flown Southwest for over thirty years. Generally the flying experience has been uneventful which is exactly how I like it. The boarding process is, of course, a "cluster@#$&" but I've gotten used to the extraordinary number of "disabled" passengers who must pre-board and experience miraculous recoveries during the flight and require no assistance upon arrival. This week has proven to be very frustrating from a customer experience perspective. I had to make a reservation for an additional party to travel with me. I was able to make the reservation using the Southwest app without difficulty. When looked fro the promised confirmation email, the fun began. I was promised an email by three separate SWA customer service reps over three separate days.I still haven't received any confirmation emails. I was billed for the ticket and early checkin according to my credit card issuer. The upshot is that three days later I still have no written proof a reservation exists. I have a feeling checkin will be an adventure. read more

This is my go to airline for reasonable domestic flights, even to Puerto Rico. Last flight I took there was a little over $300/pp. I always like to check their phone app regularly for deals to domestic hotspots. Always open to a weekend getaway. Their service on the plane is always friendly and warm. The staff at the airport aren't bad, good about making sure people actually line up by our numbers. Always efficient to get us on our plane and up into the air within 15 minutes of our flight time or so. I haven't flown since this whole pandemic started and the lockdown in March. I don't doubt they are taking cleaning the plane seriously. read more

2022 and there is an airline that doesn't book seats individually is the biggest scam I've ever heard! I flew Southwest for the first time this weekend, and was unaware of their seating policy. Both flights were delayed, both flights had people that couldn't get on the plane and therefore were kicked off! Families with small kids, too! At least there were a couple of kind individuals that volunteered to allow the family to all be together by accepting later flights (with a pathetically low compensation fee). Thank god I thought far enough ahead to upgrade us at the test to boarding group A (cost us 80 bucks). How grossly overbooking like this is not illegal is beyond me! Easily avoidable if you give everyone seats when you buy the flight. Sorted! I've been to over 50 countries, flying hundreds of times, on a ton of different airlines and never experienced that madness! Crazy. read more

Was my favorite airline. Even got the credit card a few months ago because I wanted to start accumulating miles etc and wanted to make southwest my "main " Airline. Well my issues started off this AM when me and wife's 7 am flight was Delayed 4 hour out of Indianapolis (no explanation) which means we would miss our connecting flight In Baltimore. Our final destination was LaGuardia. We also had an 8 week old puppy (the reason we were in Indiana) traveling with us and the lady said she COULD not put us on same flight . One of could go out like 11pm and the other could leave tomorrow. I said No, we have a new puppy, I also have a job (I'm a RN) and need to be at work at 7am tomorrow and can't take any more time . She said sorry nothing we can do. After some more asking she "found" a flight at 830 going to islip. After waiting about 12 hours, we got ANOTHER alert for another delay. Again no explanation (was NOT weather) so we are leaving at 9:17. We have been here since 530 am. We will be here almost 16 hours. They gave us TEN dollars each for food which does not even buy a full meal and a $200 voucher which does not account for my time back (it's also my bday) and I cannot spend it with the rest of my family. They should AT LEAST pay me back for seating upgrade as well and give us free flight not just $200 and I may CONSIDER flying southwest again. read more

Gina at bag check at phoenix skyharbor was extremely condescending. I had come up to ask about your ADA extra seat policy. I'm a person over 100lb overweight. I'm a nurse and know that I don't fit in your tiny seats without encroaching upon my neighbor. I was wearing a jacket at the time. I was asking if there was an extra seat instead of helping me she kept saying I don't qualify for the extra seat. Before I was even able to ask a question, she rudely told me I had to check in at a kiosk (which was unnecessarily). I had already checked in. You should either caffeinate people who have that job and don't assume everyone is of low IQ. I was looking for customer service which I don't see a sign readily available for in phoenix sky harbor airport. I don't think this is helpful. I just wanted to know if the flight was full, if it was, which another person told me there was 14 on standby, then I was just going to have to suck it up and apologize to whom I sit next too. Her condescension of not allowing me to ask a question of if you even had a customer service desk instead of the bag drop to ask about available seats was extremely discouraging. I had already checked in and was taking a carry on as well as my personal item per southwest policy. Carmella the supervisor was very helpful listening to the experience. I don't fly southwest to have my motives questioned or be assumed that I have never flown on a plane before. If I was a first time flyer I would not choose southwest. read more

With the vaccine on the way our travelling will be going up but before you book your next flight, I just want to share a story with you. Never underestimate your purchasing power!! Southwest is nothing but the Slumlord of the sky. I had 2 flights (cancelled due to Covid). Funds went on 2 separate "accounts" (Southwest is earning interest on my funds - understandable). 1 account for each previous reservation. Booked 2 flight for February 2021, I required 3 tickets. #1 - I booked 2 flights from MY money on account. I have a remaining balance. I could not use MY own funds to purchase the advance check in. Southwest wanted more of my money when I have funds on account. Separate bill for the same reservation #2 - I could not use MY own remaining funds for the 3rd ticket required so now I have 2 accounts with my money on the books being held captive so that I would have to book with this thieving company again. I did not book the original flight and have instructed the person that did to NEVER EVER use Southwest AGAIN!!!! I am the type of person that will pay more for an item at a local Mom and Pop store than a big box store just for the level of customer service because I value good customer service more than price. By far am I a rich person but I reward quality service with my purchasing power. This is something that Southwest needs to learn. We now understand your "want to get away" slogan - It should be "You want to get away from your money?" then do business with us. Thank you for the privilege of your time!!! read more

Flight 1065 on 8/13 out of MCO. Pilot: Eric Savage Our first flight was delayed due to malfunctioning equipment on the intercom system so we had to get off of the plane. The 2nd flight was smaller and 30 people lost their spot on the flight due to Southwest not providing an alternative. We pushed off on the 2nd flight and the engines would not fire, neither one of them according to the pilot (Eric Savage) who shared the news in a joking tone. Someone came on the plane after we pulled back in to the gate and told us we can leave if we really want to but southwest will not pay for any hotels, we'd have to wait 1 or 2 days until the next available flight, and they said we will lose our luggage for a minimum of 1 day. My family and I were faced with losing our luggage and thousands of dollars out of our own pocket OR sitting on the plane for hours longer to try and go back up in the air on the same plane who's engines would not fire. To top it off, the captain was joking with the passengers on the intercom and said a valve was stuck open and prevented the engines from firing and it SHOULD be okay now. The flight attendants (who were great by the way) leaned into his open pilot cabin door and told him he needed to correct his statement because our families were unsettled by his remarks. He did, but it was too late. Several of the families with young children around us were so concerned about his comments that they got off the plane at that point. We could not leave the plane and we were not offered water or snacks while waiting on the hot plane for 2+ hours. In total, our flights were delayed 8 hours due to your faulty equipment, staffing, and training gaps. This is unacceptable from a customer service and, most importantly, safety perspective. We will never fly southwest again and we will share this same experience with as many people as we possibly can and tell them not to fly southwest. We demand a refund and, more importantly, an explanation for this unprofessional and unsafe behavior. read more
