Treatment of luggage by American.
Katherine A.

Wow. Realllllly? I paid to fly first class between Chicago and Indy and my luggage was treated like crap? There was the bright red Priority tag on my luggage, yet it was clearly dragged through a rusty mess. No luggage deserves this treatment. Was it the garbage treatment in O'Hare? I don't know. I'm a A Advantage member with status and I'm not seeing a lot of advantage when my belongings are treated like this. First Class, what a joke! American, what a sad state.

After 3 years of avoiding American Airlines, I unknowingly got stuck with them as my connection to Chicago. Only airline with an hour plus long line at the airport. Sweet.

Delay, delay, delay...the new AA way. 95% of my flights these days are delayed. Such a poorly managed company.

The staff at the gate was very rude to multiple customers, including but not limited to, me. They…read morehad already barked at me to check if my perfectly reasonably sized carry on would fit in the provided compartment. I obliged, sliding my bag easily into the slot. I waited until I could get one of the gate agent's attention, whereupon she came over and physically checked it herself, then told me "yeah, it's fine." I went back to the seats to wait for my zone to board. When my zone 4 was announced and I got to the *same*agent who had checked the size of my bag not more than 10 minutes ago, she again asked me to check to see if my bag would fit. I politely (truly. I was) told her I had already checked it and that *she* had already said it was fine. She looked at me as if I was lying to her, at which time my companion spoke up and said "we're not doing it again." Yes, I realize this was rude but we were irritated. She rolled her eyes and waved us off, and we boarded where my bag *easily* slid into the overhead bin. The flight attendants were much nicer, and the flight itself was fine, but first impressions go a long way, and this 3-person gate agent impression was deplorable. Will have to remember this and decide whether the cheaper flight is really worth the frustration next time.

My experience with Frontier was disappointing from start to finish. The customer service at…read morecheck-in and during boarding felt passive-aggressive and unprofessional. Instead of helping passengers, staff seemed more interested in publicly shaming people over bag sizes and carry-on policies. Multiple times, employees used the microphone to call out passengers for having the "wrong" bags in a tone that felt condescending rather than informative. During boarding, staff would interrogate passengers about what type of seat they purchased, as if it somehow justified how they were being treated. The entire process felt hostile and unnecessarily confrontational. I understand that airlines have policies, but there is a respectful way to enforce them. Frontier's staff made customers feel like an inconvenience rather than paying passengers. Traveling is stressful enough without being embarrassed or talked down to in front of a crowd. There are plenty of airlines that manage to enforce rules while still treating people with dignity. Based on this experience, I will not be flying Frontier again and would not recommend it to others.

If the ticket plus fees save you $100 or more dollars it could be worth it. I recommend that you sit up front and fly early. The drama usually happens the later it gets & on the back of the plane. Also would suggest that you have everything you need because they not helping without a fee. Make sure you can make the flight, check in on time, able to check in at the kiosk to get your boarding pass and tags for bags if you have any to check. Spirit is very specific about their bag sizes & weight so make sure that you have the right size. You could go to your local airport to verify your luggage fits in the space. Your checked bag cannot be over weight if so that's an extra fee. Make sure the checked bag is under 40pounds. Lastly, refreshments & internet, services come at a fee as well. The first 4 seats seem to be their first class without the curtain & superior service. All my flights were delayed as well so be patient. I think the employees of Spirit make the most the announcements due to the people being impatient. Safe travels

The confirmations not only reminded me of the actual time of my flight, but when I could check-in, as well as delays and gate changes. Three days before my outbound flight back to Chicago, I was informed via text message that my flight had been canceled due to FAA-mandated airspace restrictions during the government shutdown. I reacted immediately, booking a new flight which ended up being an earlier time than the previous. It is situations like that where I appreciate updates because I would not have wanted to find out the day of. Now rather than download the United Airlines mobile application, I visited www.united.com where I was able to check-in for my flight early, as well as send my boarding pass to my phone via text in the process. As someone who had just a carry-on bag with me, it allowed me to head straight to TSA rather than to see a United Airlines agent once I arrived at Indianapolis International Airport. As for my airport experience, TSA was not crowded at all despite it being Indianapolis International Airport. I always dread going through security because of the possibility of congested lines, but all went smoothly! The only things I removed from my body were my jacket, and my bracelets placing each item inside either the bin, or my jacket pocket. After that, I was well on my way to locate the gate. The United Airlines gate was easy to find, thanks to posted signage within the terminal; the gate appeared professional with a very well-maintained seating area in comparison to other airlines I have flown out of. I rarely encounter boarding areas with clean seats and no trash left behind, which is just hard to unsee. I loved that there were charging outlets that worked because it gave me the chance to charge my cell phone before boarding my flight back to Chicago. Whether it be the individual booths or the workstations, I was grateful to see so many areas and seats with charging outlets. Boarding with this airline was very painless! Announcements were made which gave me the time to browse around the terminal prior to the time my boarding group boarded. It was by far one of the best boarding experiences I have ever had out of my many times of flying. I feared that my flight back to Chicago would be delayed, but thankfully it was not. With having to change my flight 3 days ago, I was very concerned and glad that it did not happen. As for the airplane interior, I loved that the seat was spacious enough to where I could adjust myself while seated. I had an acceptable amount of foot space to where my military-style backpack could fit underneath the seat in front of me. There were no charging outlets within my seat, but thankfully I was able to charge my phone prior to boarding the airplane. While onboard the flight, I got some rest during this short flight back to Chicago, which I am grateful for. Onboard, the only communication I had with the flight attendants was the boarding flight hello, and the airplane departure "thank you" and "goodbye" greeting. In closing, I am very open to choosing and recommending United Airlines to a friend, relative or colleague after this experience. Safe travels, and blessings to all that read this review. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G
