There is never an accomodation made to raise the level of experience past that. BASIC FARE customers BEWARE! I booked a roundtrip for my mother, which we had to modify just the front leg of the trip. Southwest cannot accomodate that and requires cancellation of the entire round trip. If I had book two individual one-ways, not problem. This is nuanced games and legalize to make a buck. I really hope to see 1) Department of Transportation evaluate this going forward, 2)Hope some law firm would lead a class action regarding this type of practice and 3) Customers rise up and make sure that you shop for a new airline. I suspect it is the same at many. Southwest USE TO have a friendly customer facing, how can we SERVE business model. No longer! Sad to see this model of business innovation change from "We are not like most people" to "We are just like everyone else." Dont be fooled by your status they hand out, the extra leg room, and the wonderful pistachio gimmicks. I have flown for many years with SW and had become loyal. But, now I will be much more discerning about which flight and airline we will be flying with. To Southwest, Loyalty is only a catch phrase and one way street, it seems. It will take a long time for you to win back your advocates after you alienate them. And, many other customers will now here about the recent times of less than service vs the years of service that exceeded. As Gas Prices Soar due to global conflict, Southwest has a chance to stand out versus be like everyone else. Copy and pasting this to my best 100 friends. Ripples of opportunity to have Southwest make an impact or prove who they are. I am expecting more Corporate Greed. Sad to say that I used to be a great advocate of this company, but today I can no longer advocate for Southwest. Today, they are in my mind... the LEAST Customer Friendly Airline. Business is about creating service that people want, not need. We can do better!!!

If the ticket plus fees save you $100 or more dollars it could be worth it. I recommend that you sit up front and fly early. The drama usually happens the later it gets & on the back of the plane. Also would suggest that you have everything you need because they not helping without a fee. Make sure you can make the flight, check in on time, able to check in at the kiosk to get your boarding pass and tags for bags if you have any to check. Spirit is very specific about their bag sizes & weight so make sure that you have the right size. You could go to your local airport to verify your luggage fits in the space. Your checked bag cannot be over weight if so that's an extra fee. Make sure the checked bag is under 40pounds. Lastly, refreshments & internet, services come at a fee as well. The first 4 seats seem to be their first class without the curtain & superior service. All my flights were delayed as well so be patient. I think the employees of Spirit make the most the announcements due to the people being impatient. Safe travels

The confirmations not only reminded me of the actual time of my flight, but when I could check-in, as well as delays and gate changes. Three days before my outbound flight back to Chicago, I was informed via text message that my flight had been canceled due to FAA-mandated airspace restrictions during the government shutdown. I reacted immediately, booking a new flight which ended up being an earlier time than the previous. It is situations like that where I appreciate updates because I would not have wanted to find out the day of. Now rather than download the United Airlines mobile application, I visited www.united.com where I was able to check-in for my flight early, as well as send my boarding pass to my phone via text in the process. As someone who had just a carry-on bag with me, it allowed me to head straight to TSA rather than to see a United Airlines agent once I arrived at Indianapolis International Airport. As for my airport experience, TSA was not crowded at all despite it being Indianapolis International Airport. I always dread going through security because of the possibility of congested lines, but all went smoothly! The only things I removed from my body were my jacket, and my bracelets placing each item inside either the bin, or my jacket pocket. After that, I was well on my way to locate the gate. The United Airlines gate was easy to find, thanks to posted signage within the terminal; the gate appeared professional with a very well-maintained seating area in comparison to other airlines I have flown out of. I rarely encounter boarding areas with clean seats and no trash left behind, which is just hard to unsee. I loved that there were charging outlets that worked because it gave me the chance to charge my cell phone before boarding my flight back to Chicago. Whether it be the individual booths or the workstations, I was grateful to see so many areas and seats with charging outlets. Boarding with this airline was very painless! Announcements were made which gave me the time to browse around the terminal prior to the time my boarding group boarded. It was by far one of the best boarding experiences I have ever had out of my many times of flying. I feared that my flight back to Chicago would be delayed, but thankfully it was not. With having to change my flight 3 days ago, I was very concerned and glad that it did not happen. As for the airplane interior, I loved that the seat was spacious enough to where I could adjust myself while seated. I had an acceptable amount of foot space to where my military-style backpack could fit underneath the seat in front of me. There were no charging outlets within my seat, but thankfully I was able to charge my phone prior to boarding the airplane. While onboard the flight, I got some rest during this short flight back to Chicago, which I am grateful for. Onboard, the only communication I had with the flight attendants was the boarding flight hello, and the airplane departure "thank you" and "goodbye" greeting. In closing, I am very open to choosing and recommending United Airlines to a friend, relative or colleague after this experience. Safe travels, and blessings to all that read this review. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G
