Offering set appointments and accepting Walk-Ins is not managed well here. It's not uncommon for your services to begin an hour after your scheduled "appointment", due to Walk-Ins being weaved into the schedule. That's a problem. The skill of the nail techs is very inconsistent, as well. The owner is excellent and very pleasant, but rarely there, so requesting her isn't an option. Requesting an appointment with a specific nail tech seems to be frowned upon. I learned this the hard way. I was re-assigned to another nail tech for polish removal, filing, etc. and my requested nail tech only polished my nails, scolding me throughout. Another time I requested an appointment with a specific nail tech it only got me ignored, glared at and treated rudely. Since this experience should be pleasant, calming and indulgent, and it's anything but, it's time for me to look for another nail salon...for myself, as well as the many Bridal Parties I've referred to Southland Nails. read more

I have white/ pink acrylic nails. I popped in after work one evening to get them filled. The first lady who worked on my nails made me feel comfortable that they would be filled correctly. But someone walked in who needed a wax, so she abruptly left and had someone else take her place. This lady was HORRIBLE! She filed all my nails at an angle, some of them so short that you could see the pad of my fingers above the nail (if that makes sense)! She filed my nails with the machine so quickly, that it cut my cuticles to the point that they bled, and the machine was so hot it burned me. I told her that she was hurting me and she just chuckled and kept on going. She put nail glue on the tips of my nails when she finished, but this only ended up gluing my skin to my nails. It has been almost 2 weeks, and I'm still chipping away at the glue. I do not recommend this place at ALL. Try Pacifica Beauty Salon on Manor Drive. it is 10 times better. *Side note- the sign said my nail fill would only be $17, but she charged me $23. It seems like they charge their clients on a case to case basis. read more

First time here and I absolutely loved it! I got a gel manicure and pedicure. I've been to many different places, but this place is the best. I had no appointment but 10 minutes after I came in, I was seated and someone came to do my nails right away. I'm really happy with the way they turned out. The place is nice and clean.. The staff is also really friendly. I will definitely come back again! read more

I used to go here a lot since it's right by my house but I stopped because my nails would never last AND I would get gel. Well anyways yesterday I was in desperate need to get a new set but my current nail lady was on vacation so I decided to give southland another shot. I walked in and they automatically seated me. I usually get my nails done by Cindy but this time it was someone else. Then another lady comes to do my pedicure at the same time. It was not busy at all. The whole time I had the lady doing my pedicure pulling my leg every few minutes because my legs are short. Then I have the lady doing my full set pulling my arm. I felt so uncomfortable and I made it noticeable. For my pedicure, it was decent I guess. For my full set I asked for the coffin shape but instead it was more square. One of my thumb nails is shorter than the other plus it's cut crooked. I'm really disappointed because the polish is such a pretty color. I've tried many times to give them a chance but I'm done wasting my money on a hit or miss nail shop. read more

today was my second time going to this nail salon. my first time was a terrible experience but I wanted to give this salon a second chance. the first time I got my nails done here, while I was being serviced, I pointed out to the manicurist that the shape of my acrylic was slanted and uneven and politely asked if she could file it and reshape. I wish I had her name but I never got it. anyways, she told me "in my eyes it's even", which I was really thrown off by. if a customer is unsatisfied about something, the least you can do is acknowledge it and try to fix it. I received no kind of acknowledgment from her. I proceeded to compare my other nails to the nail that was uneven and still, she was adamant and said that it was even. then she put a nail file next to me and said I can fix it if I want to because she said once again, "in my eyes, it's even." i came to this salon to get my nails done professionally, not for someone to hand me a nail file so I can shape my nails myself because I'm unsatisfied with it? unbelievable. I think I was more shocked than frustrated with how the manicurist was responding to my concern. I felt completely disrespected not only with the service but ultimately the finished result of my nails. fast forward five months from my first time, I am here once again because I do believe in giving businesses second chances. I made an appointment for a full set at 5, came ten minutes before appointment time and made it known to the ladies that I was coming for my appointment at 5. there were a lot of drop-ins entering and I thought it was no big deal because I set an appointment. it was ten minutes past 5, and I was still patient because I knew they were pretty busy. I was told someone would be with me shortly but once 30 minutes passed by I asked if I was going to get my nails done anytime soon, and then I was told that I should just come tomorrow because there was only one manicurist who knew how to do acrylics and she was still servicing a customer. I wasn't even given an apology. honestly, I was angry. mind you, I gave this salon a second chance, and I was disappointed AGAIN. I don't have a car so I rode the bus from my house, which was nearly an hour ride. for me to come all the way out here to make it to my appointment on time, and wait for a ridiculous amount of time only to be told I should come tomorrow...that's ridiculous. wasted my time. and if there was only going to be one manicurist who can do acrylics then I should've been notified about that on the phone when I made the appointment. I will not be coming to this salon again. by far the worst customer service I've experienced. read more

This is my first time at this salon since it's right across where I live. Walked in and no one acknowledge for a few mins. The lady who did my pedicure was amazing. She took her time and was very nice to make conversations. That's the only reason why I'm giving it a 2 star. I'm half Vietnamese and I was hoping to not hear any bad comments from the workers. After my pedicure I got a gel full set. I didn't understand why I was being switched to other techs. One glued my nail, the other shaped my nails, then another painted my nail. There was only one nail technician who I assumed only could do full sets which was strange. Mind you, I am half Vietnamese, The lady who did my nail shape told her coworker who glue my nail 'why did you use the big nails when she has tiny nails' then after she said 'she wants coffin shape nail, it won't look good on her, her fingers aren't pretty for this shape' also I am pregnant so of course my fingers will be swollen. I'm already getting heated at this point then she goes to say 'your hands very sweaty, here put it by the fan'. Even tho it was busy, she was very harsh with doing my nails and as of right now my nails are still aching. Also, I usually tip through my card, and I asked nicely if it was okay to put the tips on my card, she said 'I prefer cash'. Idk if I'll ever come here again, since everyone knows just pedicure but not full set. read more

I never write reviews because I never thought I would ever have this horrible of an experience anywhere. Literally wanted to just walk out, if only I hadn't already paid. I used to come here all the time for Tina and Cindy. Haven't been able to go to them because of school for about a year. Tried to make an appointment with Tina, whoever picked up the phone told me that the time would be okay. I get there, and ask for Tina, but Cindy starts to work on me instead. She didn't tell me that Tina quit awhile back until she already started working on me... Cindy then passes me off to another lady and she doesn't even file the sides or make the edges clean. My nails turn out uneven and pretty messed up and so I asked them to make my ballerina shaped nails wider on one side to match the other. Cindy comes back and says that they couldn't do anything about it, mind you I had paid already. I asked for them to either fix it or take it off completely and give me my money back. She finally then said she could make them wider because she didn't want to give me a refund. Cindy literally also had the audacity to say that I should just go to Tina because they can't make it perfect for me like her, in a rude and obviously sarcastic tone. I'm not asking to make them perfect, I was asking to make them at least even. Literally the worst customer service and full set I've ever gotten from anywhere. Don't waste your time coming here. Really not worth the time or money anymore. If you guys want a good set that are long lasting and sturdy, Andy Nail Spa on yelp. read more

I used to get my nails done here all the time until I got a nail infection and didn't go back sense. I just got a fill yesterday and Nail Touché in Pacifica (which by the way is an amazing place). I just realized today I needed my eyebrows waxed and was in the plaza already so I stopped by. She waxed my eyebrows and started asking me about my nails. I know she recognized me cause I used to be in there all the time and I honestly think she was offended I don't go there anymore. So anyways; she waxed my eyebrows. That was it. No tweezing after like they always do to clean it up. No trimming the eyebrow hairs. No letting me look in the mirror to see if I even liked them. No baby oil/ lotion; NOTHING. I will never go back not ever ever again. I made the mistake of going. It really felt like she was just trying to rush me out because she was mad I don't go there anymore. Not to mention the wax was too hot and burned me. My eyebrows were stinging and burning ALL NIGHT. It was miserable.. read more

I came here yesterday with two of my friends and I can say I will not be returning. When I called before I came in they told me a full set with gel was $35. When I arrived their sign also said $35. I ended up paying $45 in the end. For starters, the place Is very unsanitary. They re-use their tools. I witnessed my nail tech use a file on me and pass it to the tech next to her to use on another woman. Also I witnessed my friend get a pedicure and when she was done, they moved her out of the chair and immediately put a new person in the chair. They didn't even disinfect the chair bowl. Second, the tech I had (I believe her name was Kim) was very rude. I go to school for cosmetology and I'm currently in a nail class so I am very particular about my nails. Every time I would ask her to fix a spot on my nail, she would say nothing, grab my finger and file very roughly. I also asked at one point if she felt like working with a bigger brush rather than a small one was easier for her. I got a stare and then she ignored me looked at another lady and proceeded to talk to her instead. Third, she burned the crap out of me multiple times with the drill. Lastly, who charges extra to cut the hang nails off of your fingers? Isn't that just good service ? Half of my nails are still crooked and I still have hangnails everywhere. So then it came time to pay and she said it was $40. I said "but your sign says $35" and she proceeded to give me some BS excuse that didn't even make sense of why my nails were $40. So I gave her $45 and asked for change which I never even received back. She just automatically thought that was her tip. To be honest, I didn't even want to tip her after all of that either. I'm surprised they're even still in business. I will not be going back. read more

I came for a french manicure and a pedicure. The french manicure was extremely unprofessionally done. After returning home, I noticed that she forgot to file one of my nails. And then for most of fingers, the nail polish got onto the skin of my fingers. Very shoddy job. When I first saw it, it was so bad, I wanted to go home and take it off. So I asked one of the ladies to fix it. She "patched" up the job. But I guess the original job was so bad that some of the fingers still look like I just put white out on my finger tips myself. Oh, and I also paid to get designs originally, but had to ask them to take it off because it looked so ugly. Maybe if you just go for a normal pedi and mani and ask the right people, but I just walked in. By the way, the lady that did my nails had these darkened nails (not just one, but all of them). I hope she doesn't have a nail fungi infection and pass it on to me. read more
