I saw their bad reviews but decided to give them a try anyway. I'm not too picky about my nail salons anyway. I wasn't too impressed. I booked two mani pedis one for me and one for my friend. They were super quick, but the quality of work was lacking. Both of us left unsatisfied. My nails were uneven and the polish was all over my skin. I had to make the manicurist fix two lumps on my nails. I gave them three stars because she did it. This was after trying to give me some excuse as to why she couldn't. I've had better and probably won't go back. Which sucks cause they're right by my house. read more

Let me start by saying I am only referring to their customer service as I DID NOT get my nails done here. I arrived at 8:55am and realized it was 5 min before opening. I saw a car with a women inside and she acknowledged me as I went back to my car to wait patiently. At first, I thought, maybe they are in the back getting the salon ready. So I got out of my car again to take a picture of their business hours and check that no one was in there. As I did, the women in the car acknowledged me (yet again) and stayed in her car. By that point, it was 9:04am. So I gave it 10 more minutes. When I glanced at the time it was 9:15. So I decided maybe their hours have changed, I should go somewhere else. As soon as I turned on my car to leave the women in the car rushed out of her car with keys to open up the Nail Salon. I was VERY disappointed. Not only did she acknowledge me TWICE but, she didn't even bother to say hey, sorry for the inconvenience. NOT even a reason as to why she acknowledged me and still didn't bother to open up the shop. So I ended up leaving and going somewhere else because she clearly didn't feel like doing nails that early. Maybe they should change their business hours. read more

I hate myself for cheating on my usual nail spot (My Amour), but my nails needed some help and driving to the Eastbay wasn't gonna do that day. Southland Nails is alright if you're just looking for a mani/pedi with no frills or thrills. There was no chit-chat with how my day was going...I don't think they even asked for my name. They got the job done, but I like going to places where they are more personable. I love going to places where meeting your needs are part of the job. At Southland, I just felt like a pawn on their gameboard being shifted here and there. For a mani-pedi that cost me $30 (not including tip), I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

I went here for a bikini wax a while ago. ok more than a while ago. around last halloween or something. i usually go to Victorias in the aves but she was booked and i live near this place. I usually get my pedis here and they do great for that. i see people going in and out for waxing all the time so i figured id try them out, seeing as i was in a rush and they were able to get me in right away. Biggest mistake of my femanine hygene career! I've gotten my down there regions waxed several times over the years and never have i had such a terrible wax job! At first i was a little eh about the material they used for waxed strips; it was like linen. usually i see soft cotteny strips, but whatev, i figured they should know better than i do right? wrong.The damn strips barely even clung to the wax! And the wax! omg the wax wasnt even warmed enough. so it spread on very slowly pulling my hairs along with it! OUCH!!! i asked her to heat the wax up more. she said "no wax fine." no its not fine, its not suppose to yank my hairs until you pull the strip dag namit! A few of the pulls were fine, for second i thought that maybe this lady actually did know what she was doing. And im sorry to be extra graffic here but it is the only way i can get the horendous experience accross. You know when an esthetician waxes something they kinda hold the skin tight to help make the pull more even, smooth, less painful? well, will someone tell me why this B#$%@ pulled the skin tight, grabbed my hand and placed my hand where her hand should of been! she had me with both hands holding my downstairs while she yanked the strips with one hand! i lyed there looking at her like omg this girl is trippin! hard! i asked, as she got wax all over my hands, "is this really necessary?" "oh yes. always have hold." "uhh no. ive never had to hold anything before?! and your gettign wax all over my hands." "ooohh hahaha. me too me too. wax on hands" DUH! its your job to do the waxing! if ihad know it was gonna be like that id have done it myself. i told her we need to stop. she insisted on finishing. without making me hold. but she looked at me like i was being lazy or somthing! wtf! Then the wax gets stuck! duh it got stuck you didnt effing heat it up enough! and it got stuck in the worst possible place! again sorry to be so graffic...but you know the spot right at the top of the lips where the taco folds in half? there! right there a big not so hot glob of wax, STUCK! and do you know what she did? you couldnt possibly imagine what she did! she took scissors to my #%@$^! !! SCISSORS!!! and not just any scissors, small, kindergarden, plastic, construction paper cutting scissors!!!! Who does that?! who can you tell me?! never in my life could i have imagined that a professional esthatician (or in this case someone posing as one) would dare take any kind of scissors to anyones nether regions!! shes lucky i didnt kick her! This time i made her stop! i said "you need to get the hell away from me for reals. are you crazy woman? scissors?" and she still wouldnt go away! i was finally like "look ill even pay you still, just stop and back up" at that point i would have paid double just to get this woman to stop and out of my vicinity. she left and another girl comes in. trys to calm me down and somehow convinces me to let her finish me off. ok and ill addmit, she did fine. certainly not great, mediocre at best. but atleast it wasnt the last lady. This whole experience took and hour! an effing hour to get waxed! ive never spent mroe than 20 min maybe at my usual girl and she does a much more thourough job! If you need a really good, as painless as possible, quick waxing go to Victorias Nails Studio on Geary. i know its alot farther for some people but you will never be disapointed with her. This is my second time visiting here mainly due to pricing but I will not be returning anymore. I'm still sitting in the chair as I'm writing this review..that is how unsatisfied I am. Technician that was servicing me did not bother to do a decent job at scrub/cut/removing cuticles. Another technician that came to brush on my white nail polish didn't bother cleaning up the edges so my toes look like they have done by a 5 year old toddler. Came here today after a long day at work for a pedicure, manicure, and a foot and hand massage. They took me right away, and the ladies were very humble and pleasant. This is the second time I've been to this salon and it definitely had earned 5 stars and a loyal customer. My feet, legs, hands, and arms were so heavy, sore, and tired from a long two weeks at work, but these ladies definitely made me feel pampered and soothed my aches and pains. On vacation from Northern California. Didn't even get my nails done came with my sister. However the service is not only poor but they speak Vietnamese the entire time. Not very professional for a nail salon, especially when the majority of your clients speak English. The place is very warm and very clean. I came here one evening (ONLY B/C MY REGULAR NAIL SHOP CLOSES AT 7P & I was desperate), about 20mins before 8pm. The "OPEN" lights were still on, so I walk in & the lady asks what I needed. I told her manicure & pedicure & she says, "oh we're closed!". Why would you ask someone what they needed - if you were closed? They accept walk-ins. The people are very nice and polite. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because in the afternoons and the weekends they get crazy busy and tend to not be as on point and rush through your pedi to get the next person in as fast as possible. I made an appointment for Cindy the night before. When I arrived in the morning, she said she was busy and had another appointment. She sat me down in Tina's chair and promised she was good. I didn't want to go through with it but since I needed a fill so bad, I stayed. Wrong choice! She started to do the filing and it seemed like she was good. When it was time for acrylic my nails were burning so bad, she offered me cold water to dip my nails is. Now, I am sitting here for a fill and not a new set. After she was done with the acrylic and filing she asked me to check my nails to see if they were okay. All my tips on my left hand were slanted! Not to mentions the length of my nails were uneven. I did not notice the uneven nails until after the gel was set. How unlucky! I asked her if there's any way she can fix it. She told me, no since the gel is dry and if she continues to file it, my nails will separate from the acrylic. Understandable. She continued to say, "oh well, I asked you if they were ok before I put the gel. And who will notice? Are you going to put your hands next to each other anyway?!" Seriously, I was so frustrated. And how rude of her to say that. You look at your hands everyday! To even think she was going to send me off with my whole left hand with slanted tips, is so disrespectful. I'm pretty sure she would have, if I had not said anything. You would think you would want your nail art to be perfect, and your customer satisfied. Guess not! I will not be returning. I really needed a pedi and my usual place was a bit further. I decided to try this place since it was only 5 mins from my house. This place is busy and there are about 10 workers. That is alot. I didn't have to wait, but when I thought one woman was helping me, another came to help me. The lady made me bleed and didn't even say sorry. She was really slow and did a terrible job. She didn't even give me a hot towel to wipe my feet after putting lotion on. Instead she used a dry towel and wet it and then rubbed my feet. I was thinking, ok maybe this is how they do it here until I saw everyone else getting a hot towel. The owner came by and told my lady to start on someone new while she finished painting my toes. I told her it's already 2 thick layers on already. Even the owner looked at my polish made a face and said let me even this out for you. After I was done they made me walk across their super dirty carpet to the other side of the room to dry my feet. She didn't even put a towel on the floor for me so I had to put my feet on top of my flip flops. My toes weren't even dry and I got out of there super fast. Never again. I will just stick to my place. This place is cheap. $10 for mani and $20 for a pedi, but horrible services! read more

I normally go to Westlake Nail Spa, but since the girl I normally see was on vacation I had to go here. I've been here before a handful of times and it's not too bad. $25 for a full set. They had renovated a while back but since then, they haven't really been keeping up. For example, their hand dryers are old and kinda dirty. The dryer I was under told me the UV flight and fan come on and turn off by itself, but there was no uv light! The bulb wasn't even in there. Also, those fake plants they have, look like they haven't been touched since they were placed there how many moons ago... the dirt that's caked on is pretty gross. As for their service, I had 2 girls work on my full set - which is annoying!! But the girl who applied the acrylic did a pretty good job, but it still went over the sides, so when the next girl came to file everything down, she ended up cutting me twice! (WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME?! except at Westlake). I wish I knew who finished me off (lol) because she was super super fast and I was outta there really quick. If I have to go back, I'd rather go to her... she even scolded the girl who applied the acrylic. You can make an appointment but they still take walk-ins, so be aware. I've had to wait 20 mins before even tho I made an appointment. NOTE - They don't accept tips on their credit cards. Tips gotta be in cash.. read more

I've been here a couple times when I needed a last minute pedicure or eye brow wax. They've always done a good job. The spa massage chairs were cleaned after each use. People are always friendly and welcoming. It just around the corner from my place so that's a plus. read more

I love their selection of Gel polish, particularly that they carry OPI Gel! What makes me uneasy is that every time I've been in, the technician(s) does my manicure in 3 minute increments while working on several other customers. I think they think it's being efficient but in all reality, for me as a customer it makes my manicure 3 times longer than it needs to be. They also use their fingernails to scrape the gel off my nails, it feels unsanitary, lazy, careless and just completely freaks me out. The quality of the gel manicures is decent, I get about 10 days before peeling and chipping starts. A truly 5 star gel manicure should make it to 14 days. read more

This has always been my neighborhood nail place, and it's hit or miss. I mean my nails look pretty satisfactory when I leave, but customer service is either okay or just bad. If there's anything that is great it's that they ladies are really fast and efficient in clearing their lobby. They are great a multi-accommodating! They probably do this at the expense of having friendly and quality customer service, and I agree with other yelpers that they are too expensive. We came here since this was the closest one in the area and we didn't really bother to look around some place else. I came here with my two cousins. It looks really old and was not maintained properly. Aside from the usual sweeping of nails and mopping water that spills on the floor from one of their pedicure chairs, I don't think they even do general cleaning. The place is really outdated. My cousins dragged me over here and after seeing the place I was kinda thinking twice in having my nails done. Unfortunately, we have a kid with us so obviously, people was looking at us like..why? I understand those stare, I know I do that but they never made any noise at all. They have chairs where you can wait but they're like 60's type of chair with velvet cushion that looked it was it was last clean like never. They can talk in English but they choose not to and most of the time they're talking in their native language. This is not the typical whispering at all. I also felt that they hated the fact that we brought kids with us even though they're not rowdy at all. I kinda understand that part since people come here to probably relax but you can't do that with so much talking in the background. I can't wait to be done and just leave the place. My cousin got hurt when the girl was trying to clean her nails. She did not apologize to her. Instead, she spoke in her native language while talking to her co-worker and they both laughed. That really pissed off my cousins and me. She just continuously does her nail without saying anything to her at all, NADA. My other cousin wanted to have a design on her nails and the lady that was working on her nails said that she couldn't do it because her nails are too tiny. She showed me the design and it was just a flower on top of a french nail. She said that the design won't be as good which sounded like the worst excuse ever. To make her feel better she even says that they wanted to make sure that whatever they'll do that she'll like it. The worst part of the whole thing that my cousin was her last customer. Since my cousin is waiting for her sister to finish before paying, that lady decided to stay close to us, looking all ready to go. She was there waiting for the tip. I know that's how they earn extra but not when you half ass the only thing that you to do. The same thing happen to me with the lady that did my nail, she had me signed the receipt and asked me for her tip. The tip is something when you worked hard for and not something that you have to ask for to your customer. I paid $50 that only include cleaning since I opted to just have my nails cleaned. She was not pleasant the whole time. She was laughing the whole time when she pointed out my thick cuticle to her co-worker, like who does that. I felt embarrassed the whole time and I can't wait for the whole thing to be over. She was doing this the whole time that she is speaking in her native language. That also include the $10 tip which I think was too much for the service I had. This is my first and last time we'll come here. I would not recommend this at all. Especially if you are looking to be taken care of and they're just really rude. If you guys happen to stop and have your nails done, make sure to at least bring some headset too, you'll be better off with just the music. read more

Appointment system is not the best with an average of 15 -- 20 min waiting time after arriving for my appointment. English language is lacking, but prices are excellent. I made an appointment for my wife to have her nails done, she had to wait one hour after her appointment was already made. A lady walks in, make an appointment 10 minutes prior to walking in, and they sit her in a chair. The customer service here is horrible and the wait time is horrific. I do not recommend this place to anyone, unless you're willing to wait over an hour, even when you have an appointment. I gave a 3 star because I'm 50/50 with this place. I ONLY come for Cindy! She does my nails so perfectly! No smudges, no imperfections! I am always more than happy with the way my nails turn out. But the reason I didn't give it a 5 star is for the service. Cindy is extremely popular so it's hard to keep her all to yourself. I make appointments, but still end up having to wait. She also has to leave time to time to do waxes. It's upsetting because I don't want to spend more time than necessary, but the work she does is so beautiful I can't help but come back to her! If you decide to come to Cindy, I suggest you allow yourself extra time if there's anything you have to do afterwards. But other than that I definitely recommend Cindy! read more

Normally I get my acrylic nails done here and I was always happy. I had gotten them done just yesterday. I got a red French tip fill with jewels on the ring fingers. First I had asked the lady If she could make them look like mg nails grew down. That didn't happen. Today they are all lifting ALREADY and the corners are breaking!! Two of them jewels on my left ring finger have fallen off. I got them done yesterday. It did seem like she was rushing getting them done even though there was plenty of other people getting exactly what they wanted while relaxing. Nothing of my visit this time was relaxing. I had gone with a friend and her nails look amazing and took much longer than mind because the lady doing hers was taking her time. I can't believe I spent $40 to have to go somewhere better to get them fixed a day later! Never gonna come back here again. read more

They always do a good job on my nails but this one lady who they always stick me with always grunts and constantly gives me dirty looks while doing my acrylics. She acts like its a huge problem every time she does my nails. And every time I've gone here she's cut me with the file. She even had the nerve to get mad at ME when she cut me. "Are you serious?! I usually come here because it's close to my house and they're usually ok until my last visit. I paid extra to have a gel fill, french manicure and diamonds. I was assured the diamonds wouldn't come off so I paid extra. The fill or polish was so bad and thick you could see it was gooey and bumpy. The same day my polish chipped, the next day 2 diamonds came off, and 1 week later the nail broke. I don't want to get my nails done here again read more

Haven't gotten my nails done here since high school, but I do remember they did nice french manicures. Their gel nails are no exception. The lady that helped me did a great job on them. I should have told her to cut them a little shorter though. Typing with long nails can be a pain! I'm due for a fill soon, so hopefully that can be done.
