This was my first and second visit to this bowling establishment. They have 40 lanes, a Pro Shop, an arcade area, two pool tables, a lounge for adult beverage partaking and a fairly large snack bar. Where you bowl is different from the traditional horseshoe arrangement of seating with the scoring screen behind the ball return rack. This place has mini tables with four swing out seats and the scoring menu attached to the table. Every other lane is offset from their neighbor lanes. I found it confusing. I don't understand what all the tables are for in the bowling area unless they allow food and drinks down by the bowlers. If so, it would be the first time I've seen that. On the second visit I saw that indeed food and beverage was being utilized by the bowlers on these tables. It took me a couple of games to get used to the set up. The ball return is much closer to the foul line than what I'm used to therefore throwing off my stance but once I made the adjustment, I did much better. I bowled on a Monday and Thursday at my home lanes, then here on Friday. Bowling two days in a row really put soreness into my shoulder. After resting my shoulder and rotator cuff over the weekend, we returned today, Monday, for more games. I bowled a more consistent higher three game average today. The electronic scoring system is overdue for an upgrade in my opinion. I would like to see multiple options for scoring formats with at least one option that tells you your ball speed. We ordered a brownie bowl from the snack bar. It was okay and satisfied our sugar craving for some kind of dessert after eating lunch. read more

What a fun bowling alley! It's a typical bowling alley, but the food is really good! I like the way you can order using the QR code from your table. They have bumpers for the lanes for kids and ramps to help the littles get the ball down the lane. Went with my daughter's kindergarten class for a field trip. The kids had a blast! read more

When me and my family came in to bowl this weekend. The big dude with veterans hat on was rude to my kids and my wife. My wife didn't feel comfortable after that interaction with him. As a kid, bowling alleys always seemed like seedy establishments with a smoke filled environment and drunken fights constantly breaking out spontaneously. But I've got to say, Southland is a family friendly environment that is just plain fun. Bowling ain't cheap. Anywhere. So you want to feel as if you're appreciated for patronizing the establishment. The employees here are first rate. From check in to the snack bar to maintenance, everyone is so happy and helpful. It's as if they've been through the Chick-fil-A training program. They act like they're genuinely happy you're there. And, they keep the restrooms super clean. Imagine that. We've eaten the pizza and pretzels here and they ain't half bad. I mean, it's a bowling alley so I'm not looking for New York City quality pies, but I think you'll be satisfied with the quality of it. So, it's a great place to make an afternoon of it. Grab something to eat and play a couple games with the family. It's a bowling alley. It's in need for a bit of repair and cleaning. The tables stay dirty after people leave, balls are left at empty lanes, and there's dust hanging from the ceilings. Prices seem fair. The food is good with a decent bar. The man working the register for the lanes seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there and was rude. Fun time bowling tonight! I enjoy the lanes here but with the closing of other area bowling alleys this one is extremely busy and hard to get a lane. Thankfully tonight we had a large group and were able to reserve a few lanes. You have to have 12 people / the equivalent of two lanes to be able to reserve anything. They have leagues almost every night. So if you aren't on a league you have to wait until 9-9:30 to bowl through the week. I wish You could reserve one lane. That would make it nice. We have tried to bowl here a few times over the last few weeks and have left due to 2hr plus wait times and there is no call ahead. Outside of the busyness it's a nice place to bowl. I bowl here on Monday and Tuesday in a league. I enjoy bowling and have a great time. My son also bowls here too! My family enjoys bowling and always have a great time. The hamburgers are good and I often eat here for lunch after bowling! The lanes are good mostly but every now and then some are closed that need repairs. This is the only bowling alley in the city. It is in a pretty central location. We love to come out here for Christmas Day each year for family fun. They had a special up to 6 people on a lane, shoes for eveyone for 2 hours and 1 pizza and 1 pitcher of soda for $60. This was a great deal on Christmas. Our family is very competitive and some of them may or may not have gotten their feelings hurt, but we won't say any names here. Just know that we spare no feelings and take no prisoners when it comes to bowling. They have a decent menu of items to eat as well. The pizza is amazing! The buffalo wings are more like chicken nuggets, I think we may get something else next time, but we went back for seconds of the cheese sticks. Everything is fresh to order, so go order your food when you get there, as it will take a bit of time to prepare it. But who doesn't like hot food. read more

We were disappointed with this location. In amidst a pandemic, having to make a paid reservation online, the place was CROWDED! There was no sanitation practice at all. It was another normal "nonpandemic times" day in this location. Bowling balls were not cleaned in between customers and all lanes were open allowing for cross contamination. The access for hand sanitizers were not conveniently located closer to the lanes allowing for continuous cross contamination. I would say this place is unsafe and poor sanitation across the lanes. Staff was not friendly at the checkin, went back to ask a question and the girl at the counter kept her attention to another conversation while half answering me. Needs a lot of improvement! read more

Great place to bowl with good lanes. It can get kinda busy on weekends nights especially. Friday and Saturday are crowded and typically a weighting list to get a lane but it's pretty well organized. Inside the bowling alley is nice and updated, there are screens all across the back. They had someone walking around at all times cleaning. The staff were not friendly- they didn't do anything wrong but something isn't right... it's unusual for everyone to seem so unhappy . The lanes worked perfectly, we never had any trouble or difficulty with the returns or pins. The outside needs some curb appeal. The biggest surprise of my afternoon bowling outing wasn't the renovation Collins Bowling has undergone since my last visit here, but the fact that I am pretty good at bowling! The seating areas near the lanes are new and the bowling system is as well. The renovations don't appear to extend to the rest of the center. This is a place that you can tell has been here forever! The snack bar appeared to be unmanned, but actually there was an employee in the back waiting for you to yell to get his attention. I can't comment on the food, as I only had a coke. We bought memberships because the $10 price is tough to beat, but they keep changing the time widows we can play without communicating it. Today we came to the bowling alley, and once again were unable to bowl due to new hours. Apparently as of now, Tuesday is college night and we have to pay the regular rate. I would give zero stars if I could. A group of us wanted to go bowling and when we arrived we went to the counter to grab our shoes and pay. I had absolutely the rudest encounter with a man at the counter. I asked him what unlimited bowling was about because I was needing more information, I had never been before, and he said (quote) "what does the word unlimited mean? It's like 1+1. It's common sense. Like unlimited + bowling". I understand what all this means but wanted to know if it was a better deal than the other. I was completely shocked at his response and will never be back. On a sunday night, this is the place to be in lexington!!!!!! And with all you can bowl prices on Sunday nights, why wouldn't you go anywhere else? ha ha This bowling alley is outside of the downtown area of lexington and kind of a drive if you ask me, and it isn't that nice of a bowling alley, but it was open and there were people there, but they seemed to mainly be undergrads at UK, so we were some of the older ones there. I guess all of the older people stay in on sunday nights ha ha The bar is cheap with $2 bud lights and their bar is well...interesting....ha But the alley works fine, even if the screens are a little old and outdated, it is still bowling and i could actually find balls with holes big enough for my chubby fingers!! okay that sounded awkward, but you know what i mean! read more

This is a good place to have a fun and inexpensive evening with a group of friends. We chose this place over the newer bowling alley because you can reserve the lanes in advance for your group. The staff was super overwhelmed and the cleanliness needs some improvement. We had the pizza, tator tots, and mini corndogs. At 7pm they started super Loud rap music so for Me, going early is better. Not a bad place. It's your basic no-frills bowling alley. Everything I encountered seemed like it was in good condition. Prices vary a lot by time of day and day of the week, so check the website! I liked the cool animations while bowling, the old school pictures from the 60s, and references to the Big Lebowski. I had my own shoes and ball, so I cannot comment on that. I also did not check out the arcade or bar area, so please read the other reviews for that. There is plenty of parking here. My main gripe is was the lighting. It was super dim when I was there. Bottom line, this is your old-school bowling alley. It gets the job done if you're simply looking to bowl. read more

Brought my wife and some friends here for a birthday party. First off, I made a reservation 2 days before. When I called the day of, to confirm, it took the worker 35 minutes to find my reservation he apparently wrote down on a scrap piece of paper. When we arrived, we waited at the service desk for a good 15-20 minutes for help and the staff was less than accomodating. Bowling lanes were okay, but bowling balls were hard to find for the weight you need. Pool tables were worn out and missing balls. Overall, it was way too expensive for the facilities offered. Video game arcade was rather pathetic and games were a good 10-15 years old. Definitely not a place I would go out of my way to go back to, unless I had 1/2 off coupons. This is the only bowling alley in Lexington and it certainly shows that they really don't care. Galaxy bowling in Richmond is waaay better. read more

Staff was friendly, place was clean, and anything thought should have been updated in a 1960's bowling alley has been without losing that vintage bowling alley charm. Beer was cheap but they lose one star for serving in plastic instead of glasses. Also only food available is poor quality carnival-type food. Our family loves to bowl but we're very disappointed the first time we bowled in Lexington. The bowling alley here were not very nice and the bowling balls were in bad shape. So we decided to check the one in Mount Sterling!! It was smaller but in good shape and the staff was so much friendlier!! It was also cheaper!! They also have a movie theater attached so you can make a day of it!! Whenever we want to bowl we will only go here!! read more

This place stays packed and is very organized for how crowded they are. The wait gets long on Saturday nights and it's first come first serve so I suggest someone eating there an hour before on Saturday nights to put their name on the waiting list. This past Saturday they were at a two hour wait at 10pm so we went on Sunday instead. It was busy but they got us two lanes right away. We needed one for two kids with the bumpers and then another for five adults. I went with just my niece and nephew last thurs and there was an hour wait simply because it was league night so we had to wait til that ended. I suggest calling ahead if any questions. They are very friendly and keep the place clean. We always have a blast there and thinking about going back for my boyfriends birthday on the 17th if we can get reservations for small party of ten. They have great specials for groups and such on their website. oh we also spent NYE there this past year and they had all kinds of party favors and such definitely a great place to go have some fun at. read more

Usually pretty busy, and have to be physically present to be placed on waiting list which can be annoying. Reservations must be placed the day before, but it's definitely the cleanest bowling alley I've been in. The lanes are mostly well kept, and if there is ever a problem it's usually fixed quickly even when busy. The ONLY negative is the house balls have a lot of age on them, and always seem to be coated in lane oil, and never cleaned. The balls are also getting pretty rough, might be time to get rid of a few with rough finger holes. We bowled on a Sunday midday with a groupon. The two of us got a solid hour and we were able to get three games in. It had been a long while since I went bowling and I was a little worse then I remembered. The place seemed big as far as I'm concerned. The staff was a little more clean cut than the usual bowling alley employees I've seen and they seemed friendly enough. The beer was pretty cheap and for anyone not interested in that you can get pitchers of soda. There were a couple of pool tables we played a couple games. They were in rough shape as the felt was starting to move around a lot but still didn't seem to hamper the game any. I wouldn't mind revisiting this place. read more

Had my daughter's birthday party there. We got 4 pizzas and they said it would be 20 minutes. 55 minutes later they finally came out. We bought tokens for the kids to use on the games. There were probably 10 games. 2 didn't work and 3 would eat the tokens. Probably wasted about 15 tokens. Told the attendant and he didn't seem to care. He probably didn't have any authority to do anything and I just wanted to get out of there. It's not a bad bowling alley, but I would think twice about taking kids or having a party. read more

If you're hungry or thirsty DO NOT COME here. You have to pay for their food/drinks/WATER at their snack shop or nothing. They will yell and threaten you that you will be kicked out if you bring an any outside food/drinks/water. You're not even allowed to bring in a sports bottle or reusable bottle from home. I would give this place ZERO stars if i could. Walked in around 9PM on a Friday, paid $22.00 for half an hour of play for three people. The lane the employee put us on didn't even work (you work there buddy, shouldn't you KNOW which lanes work and which don't?). Then we were switched to yet another non-working lane. We were switched a THIRD time to a working lane, but the ball return didn't work. All of this took almost 20-25 minutes, i asked for a refund. This place could be great if they kept the equipment properly maintained and running. But i will never go back. read more
