Y'all know I'm always on the lookout for a good cheeseburger. Well, this place has them, among many other delicious things. It's located in a small strip mall so parking can be tricky but it's worth it! Lol! The dining room gives that small town feel, and I'm here for it!! You can sit, for the most part, where you want, in their small dining area or in a booth in an attached area. The service has never been bad. We've rated here a number of times with my in-loves, who live in the area, and frequently eat here. All of their food is fresh and cooked to order. I've eat several things but let's talk about the double cheeseburger and homemade fries! The burger is so big that you can't get it in your mouth! It's so juicy, too! And the fries... my gracious! So! Good! It's all responsibly priced for home cooked food. So go and give them a try!! You won't be disappointed! Oh!! They also do large orders for pick up. The ribs are exceptionally good, and I've always been happy with the sides (although I'm admittedly not that adventurous and usually get the mac-and-chese and turnip greens). Dropping a couple of stars, because on our latest visit to the food truck, prices had been raised (and that's fine), but portions had been in cut in (literally) half! We probably won't be back again. It's a small restaurant tucked in a shopping center in Argo, AL. You'd never know how good the food is until you step in and try. I don't know what the secret is to their burgers, they're just good. And their pork sandwich is outstanding as well. The food is cooked as you order it, so don't expect a 30-second turnaround on getting your food. Worth the wait! read more

They came back to our area recently and we tried them out again. Not only had they raised their prices, but they drastically cut the portion size of the nachos (which we loved) and the loaded mac only had about 1/2 the container full. It was very disappointing since we liked them so much the first go-around. You can raise prices, or you can shrink portion sizes, but to do both in a matter of just a few weeks? That's just bad business. I don't think we'll be back. We'll support other businesses I think. read more

I'm from out of town, and was using Yelp to locate another spot, but this place was the only one that I could find in the area. I'm glad because it was great food and service. Clean and neat as well. Short wait. Out of smoked chicken wings, but the special looked great though; hamburger steak with onions, mash potatoes with gravy, turnip greens, a roll, & dessert of choice. I chose the smoked ribs which were charred on the outside but tender inside. Cajun fries with ranch and baked beans were tasty. Took off with a slice of orange cake to go. Staff is very nice. BBQ smells amazing walking in from parking lot & leaves a great taste in your mouth too. Just a short ways off the interstate. Decor is country and sweet. Extra space in the back for larger crowds. This place is a hidden gem, located in a rural are between Trussville and Springville. It's located in a strip mall with just a handful of stores. The front of this place is unassuming, with just a simple sign and not much thought towards marketing. What they lack in pizazz, they certainly make up in good food. Their pork BBQ is very good. Smoked with hickory wood for hours, the flavor is deep and powerful (but not overly powerful). Their chicken is likewise delicious, and was not too dry. I liked the chicken, but the pork was better in my opinion. One of their signature dishes is a BBQ nacho. It's a mound of nachos with pulled pork on top. I've also had their wings...and these were probably my favorite menu items. They are smoked and then flash fried. With a kicking sauce dripping off, I was tempted to eat the bone and all. Their staff is laid back and super friendly. It's also a place I wouldn't hesitate to bring children. Chances are, you won't disturb the crowd that I've seen in here. Hard call. On my visit I had a bbq sandwich with hand-cut fries. The BBQ was very good, yet I prefer sliced bbq, which was not an option. The fries were too salty. Prices here are reasonable and portion sizes are generous. Rumour has it that the daily special is really the way to go in terms of value for money. Service is good. read more

Would not recommend Southland Barbecue. I called in order on the way home at my daughters' recommendation. Staff not busy but messed up my order. I drove home and had asked for barbecue chicken but received pork! Called and they where apologetic. Thanks drove back to restaurant and they failed to give me buns. I called back and their incompetency became my problem. Glad I was nice but won't put myself in that position again! Don't think they will be in business long. Barbecue places are a dime a dozen in Trussville. Wish them well but won't order again. !!! read more

In the small town of Argo, on Hwy 11 near the traffic light is Southland Barbecue in a strip mall. The place is very inviting, clean, and chairs look kind of high class. They are definitely pretty new and comfy. It seems to be run by a lady and family. Tonight, I treated myself to the pork plate. The pork itself has a lot you like in BBQ: tender, tasty, mixes well with sauce, affordable, and nice portion. The sauce itself is a sweet sauce and is quite good. The only question I have about it is that it tastes a lot like Sonny's Sweet BBQ sauce, that you can buy at Sam's. A very good sauce but I always want a BBQ sauce I can't get anywhere else except from that restaurant. Baked beans were homemade with pieces of meat. They were more tangy than anything else. Potato salad was also homemade, chilled right, and enough mustard in it to give it a slight kick. I will be back to try ribs and chicken. This is very good BBQ if you are not adventurous and just love the sweet sauce. If you like your BBQ with a little more kick, this isn't the place for you. read more

Horrible! I got the pulled chicken and it was dry and tasteless. I'm sorry, bug it was also cooked too long.

We ate off the food truck. Would have been 3 stars if the nachos were remotely warm. Like the cheese or BBQ heated. Just couldn't do it.

Good Food. Fresh cut fries and hamburgers are awesome ! However ,their BBQ sauce leaves a lot to be desired and the reason for three stars. Its some sort of store bought sauce and way way too sweet for me and not to my liking and I like the different styles of sauces. I will get a pork plate w/o sauce to go and take it home to add my own sauce from the fridge. Given the area and location, they should have people lined up out the door. IF they would change or add another style BBQ sauce to their offering , I think they would do a whole lot more business. Also ,they do not offer hot sauce. I've never been in a BBQ joint who did not offer hot sauce. Strange. The other reason for three stars. However Southland is on my rotation of places to eat. read more

Tried them out yesterday. Had a large order and they got everything right. The chicken fingers had a little too much breading. I had the chicken wrap. Was good if you like little onions in it. Menu doesn't tell you what all is on or in things. Just okay. read more
